We stayed here as a pit stop on our way up to Blackpool and tied in a visit to The Monkey,Forest, which is two minutes away in the car. The hotel itself was clean and tidy, and we had a room on the ground floor.. you needed your room key to be able to access the rooms, adding some extra security. The room was spacious and clean.. the beds are always comfortable.. the bathroom had ambient lighting, which was a great touch.. The hotel had two restaurants within walking distance, one being a franlie and bennys.. we had breakfast in the morning, which was good.. always a large selection, we just had a little wait for some cooked items to be replenished.. Overall, it was a good stay, and we would definitely stay again if the need arises.

Confusing lunch experience. Table and chairs very dirty. Ordered a sandwich. After getting back to the table waitress asked if we'd ordered a sandwich, confirmed we had. She said she'd go and ask the chef to make it and we should go to the till for a refund? Sandwich then came. Waitress came back and said forget the refund because we had the sandwich?! We didn't ask for a refund in the first place? They then tried to bring our the same sandwich again.

Awful, tea was stewed and the toasted tea cake was cold. We watched our tray for some time while other trays were being taken out of turn! When we asked if that was our We were told I’ll bring it across. What we should have had was two new pots of tea and an apology. The cafe was not particularly busy at the time so really no excuses. What needs to be understood by many of the staff here is that it’s not just product that the customer is purchasing but a service too. If the service is going to be poor that perhaps pricing needs to be lower! I shall think twice before returning.

Booked here for afternoon tea on Mother’s Day. Got to Trentham to find out you also need to buy tickets to get into the gardens as the restaurant is inside the gardens. This wasn’t made clear at time of booking so had to pay additional amount to get into so we could get our afternoon tea. This caused us to be a little late. The service was good. Friendly, helpful staff. The food was great. Great little place to have a meal but just be mindful as well as your meal booking, you also have to buy entry to the gardens

My partner and I quite enjoy salmon for a main meal and was pleased when we saw it on the Harvester menu,so we traveled to our nearest one which was about 30 minutes away,on entry we were taken to a table and given the menus and ordered drinks and the salmon,we were then given a bowl to help yourself to salad which we did and sat down to eat it,we had just finished the salad when the waitress came to us and they hadn’t got any salmon and did we want to choose something else, the menu wasn’t very interesting but we chose the chargrilled chicken ,if we had known this when we ordered we would have just had the drinks and gone elsewhere,we had arrived at around 1-50 and it was now 2-40 when the meal was served, nothing special and looked more like a child’s portion, the was a table of 4 close by who were complaining about certain things missing and meals not available and a chap on his own who ordered fish and chips only to be told they hadn’t got any,the place wasn’t overly busy and I can see why, very poor.

It's difficult to write this review because I actually quite like the place, and we have frequented it for years. It's just their outmoded kids' "policy" that makes me mark it down to a 2. It's a lovely pub, with fair to decent food. The staff used to be great, although have recently seemed to become a bit rude. My issue is with their policy regarding children. They are pretty open about not wanting kids in the place after 7. To me, that's a pretty backwards policy, but I can just about give them a pass on that. What I can't give them a pass on is the fact that they won't accept a booking which includes a child after 4 pm! Apparently, there is a chance that you might sit there for more than 3 hours which would (God forbid!) result in a minor being present in the venue after 7 bells!! Who is the manager? The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang child catcher?
