Not like it used to be ... chairs uncomfy different heights ..table was sticky as hell..waited ages to be served to be told we had to hurry up as reserved later

Nice food, cosy pub decent range of beers

It's just the perfect country pub with a proper attitude to dogs, too. Food is fantastic, as are the beers and wines to make your mouth water. I do not smoke, but an outside cigar terrace would really top off my childhood memories. The best pub I have ever been in.. and that's quite a few!

We went for a meal on the 21st September 2024 we haven’t been for a while Very disappointed with the cleanliness of the place I had to ask them to clean my table We also notice that when people left they never cleaned the tables We had to wait 30 minutes for the meal to arrive the meal was mediocre Shan’t be going there again in my opinion the placed has gone down the nick The manager needs to kick arse and get those young people working there to pull their wait Never again

Absolutely cracking. First visit with my partner, treated by my local older sister. The staff were so kind and friendly and the atmosphere wonderful. The food was excellent and the service timing was just right. Thank you so much - well worth coming back from Greece! Efcharisto poli !

Lovely food at reasonable prices in comfortable relaxed setting

What a lovely pub. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming, by both the staff and the ambience..We had cocktails and local beers to begin with which were delicious. The system of finding a table then ordering your food meant that you could eat exactly when you were ready. When our food arrived it was piping hot and so yummy. We also had breakfast which the quality of the food and standard of the presentation was high. We would highly recommend and would like to thank Rebecca and her team!

Cosy, atmospheric, staff are great, good choice of beer and the food is decent too

Went for breakfast, it was absolutely disgusting. Black pudding looked so unappetising, sausages were just about cooked, bacon was burnt, no toast, no beans, eggs were like snot and £2.95 for a small glass of apple juice that was half filled and not even chilled? Honestly, do not bother, £35 and left a really bitter taste in my mouth! Also, tables were sticky and there was flies everywhere!

Excellent, however some of the knives need sharpening as we thought the meat was tough but when we tasted it, it was perfect 👌 it was the knives.

Great food in a great place. Very busy but not sure if it was a Saturday thing. Staff very friendly and helpful. Car park on the small side and filled up quickly. Recommendation: Has to be the Beef and Ale pie. Full of meat, great home made pie. Could have had a tad more gravy but very filling. Would l go again ? Yes most definately.

A lovely place to eat! My daughter and I held our joint birthday meal here last night and the pub catered for over 20 of us. We had sent our meal choices in prior to the night and the food was amazing - so tasty and portion sizes were good. I have to say a big thank you to all of staff - they were very attentive; from the starters to cups of tea, nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend here!

Our first visit for a 90th birthday celebration. All managed very well considering that this was Sunday lunchtime and there were around 30 of us. Food was excellent and service unobtrusive.

Appalling customer service. Wished to reserve a table for a party of 7 (and a dog) with friend who are travelling a long way. As it was to celebrate a special occasion and we would be eating at a busy time I wished to make sure we would definitely have a table. No. Not enough of us in the party to book a table. Have always enjoyed the place but won’t be going back. Have reserved a table elsewhere where our booking was welcomed.

Four of us all ordered the fish and chips and it came up very oily and the only taste was cooking oil. Complained and the girl said I’tell the chef. No apology or offer of a discount. Should have been free, very poor quality. Other things on the menu looked good but I would not advise touching the chips.

It sounds a great pub/restaurant, and it was when I last visited a few years back, but I tried to book a table for 3 and even offered to pay a deposit and was told a flat 'no' you can't pre-book a table of less than eight. We now have size discrimination! This was meant to be a birthday celebration for three but I couldn't take the risk I wouldn't get a table on the night. How crazy is this booking system, even when I was prepared to pay a deposit to secure a table. You hear local businesses say they are struggling may be this is the reason why zero customer friendly policies.

Lovely pub and food, called in for a light lunch on a Saturday, on our way back from Stafford, don't do light lunches weekends, so opted for the steak ale pie, I must say very filling, but nice. Half each would have been ample. Nice decor inside set in a lovely village, staff friendly. Bit on the pricey side for a village pub, but nice.

We stopped here for lunch on our journey up the country and am glad we did. We shared a seafood platter that was absolutely delicious.

This used to be our 'local' but we moved away three years ago. Was really looking forward to meeting up here with old friends for a catch up over some food and drinks. Good service from the staff, excellent food and the same vibrant atmosphere. Hopefully it won't be three years until we return again.

Been scouring the local area of Staffordshire for the best food pubs and this is up there great atmosphere, decor and location. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was spot on, had a Sunday roast which differed from a lot of other pubs in presentation and quality. Will definitely be returning to sample other items from the menu.

Lovely country pub, good quality food,excellent value for money, food cooked to order so you know it's fresh, definitely worth a visit. Set in the village Swynnerton, very nice village to have a walk around, the villagers very friendly. We shall most certainly be paying the village along with the Fitzherbert Arms another visit soon.

Had tenderloin pork ... wasn't tender quite disappointing

Excellent food (real pie and not stews with puff pastry hats), excellent service, lovely atmosphere outside.

My local pub, I reserved judgement until I've visited a few times and overall the experience has been wonderful. Staff have been open and welcoming, food is always top notch and the serve all day so late lunches or early dinners are easy. I've always found a seat especially seeing the don't do reservations. They have loads of beer, a strong wine list and a good range of non alcoholic drinks. Food itself is great. Every day specials of a pie, a fish dish is reliable. Can not fault the roasts. Parking can be tight and an issue so don't wait too late to come. I must mention I also love the fact there are little to no children in the pub but always loads of dogs.

Stopped here for a non alcoholic Guinness and some lunch whilst out on the bike. Food was lovely. Amazing place with good service.

Had a family lunch which was delicious. Sadly we rang in the week to book and we're told that only taking bookings for parties of 8 and over but no problem it won't be busy at 1pm so you'll be fine. When we arrived there was no parking, and all tables were taken but we shared a big table with a couple. That said, all ordering is done at the bar but the staff were pleasant and helpful. I prefer table service, but never mind! Anyway we all had roasts and the meat was cooked to perfection as were all the veg and potatoes. Puds were good too. The place itself is lovely, lots of comfy seating and fire places and dog friendly too. I'd come again but not on a bank holiday weekend!

In the last couple of years the Fitzherbert arms has risen become the top resteraunt in the area as a place to take visitors. Food is of a high standard and portions are ample. Its quiet enough to have a conversation and the seating is private and not overcrowded. Not the cheapest but definitely a place you will not regret visiting.

We had a lovely time at this very cozy pub. Great drinks and the atmosphere was wonderful. Would certainly recommend if you're local or passing through.

Menu needs changing, been the same for years. Nothing goes, standards aren’t consistent. I can’t work out which chef it is? But yeah one is terrible, the menu is so boring… locals don’t visit any more it’s just full of chavs from Stoke on the weekend, land lady clearly isn’t a people person. Looks at the ground when you walk in instead of greeting you. Food is so average and the prices aren’t reflective of the quality. Been regulars for years but rarely go now, if we do it’s not to eat the substandard food. It’s for a drink on a nice day, that’s it… I don’t see how it’s pub of the year again? They must be paying whoever awards it… there’s better pubs around? As for the menu, none of the combinations go… they just change the sauce and side to things like chicken supreme, last time we went we had the pork… the fat wasn’t rendered properly? No crackling, really small piece and really dry. Like I say, the chef clearly doesn’t enjoy their job.

The pie pastry is inedible rock hard. The meat in the Beef and Ale pie was overcooked and the beef in the beef and blue cheese was undercooked. Would be better to cook tender slow cooked beef with a pastry topper. The Fish and chips were delicious. Lovely pub, great atmosphere. Staff are fabulous.

The pub was unusually crowded for a weekday but we still found a comfortable table and the service was excellent. Consistently good food and a wide variety of choice both in terms of size of meals and variety. Always an enjoyable place to visit - 1 of the best in the area!

Great place for a Friday afternoon unwind and cheeky beer. The food looked great, we only had the nibbles. But they were lovely.

Visiting the Fitzherbert made a special occasion even better!! We spent an enjoyable (lazy) Sunday here for a family friends 50th birthday - staff couldn’t have been any nicer or more attentive on thisbusy Sunday Food was amazing (if a little pricey) with a good variety of dishes / roasted meats to choose after and the drinks were well priced and served very fast to our group of 6. This was my first visit, but I will definitely be going back for more decor; It was a pleasant surprise, with a mixture of tile and carpeted flooring, so very 🐾 dog friendly too

Simply superb. Having had the privilege of dining in many a beautiful restaurant it has been an absolute pleasure to dine at the Fitz. The steak and chips is the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. A must must must visit.

Food was lovely and the staff were great. Prices were standard too. However they do not cater for children. They don't have high chairs and the " children's menu" doesn't seem official and just verbally given when you ask. We went for a birthday party. The staff were fantastic and we have a lovely time. I'm glad our children weren't any younger. (Youngest was 2).

Sublime food, I mean really fabulous. Attention to detail was astonishing. Everything about our dinner was perfect. This is our new favourite place, I can't believe I've not know about it til now.

I can't comment on the Fitzherbert Arms itself (but will definitely check it out now) but I can comment on how lovely their staff members are. I was stranded on a cold Staffordshire country road late last night after a hit and run with a truck. Whilst I was waiting for the recovery vehicle the manager from this pub who saw my hazard lights on stopped to check that I was OK and offered assistance. He was super kind, very friendly and the gesture was very much appreciated. He was definitely 'good people'. We need more people like this in the world - thank you!

Beautiful, cosy country pub. Great menu. My husband was a little disappointed that his latte came in a tiny tea cup which didn't represent good value for money, but my latte was fine, so otherwise, another pleasant visit.

We were having a family special birthday Sunday lunch, was never told when we arrived they were short staff and food would take a while. There was 15 of us I had to go to the bar to order our food having waiting, starters took an hour and mains more than another hour having chasing it. One of our party has dementia and is not good at waiting making it stressful for us. To cut a long story short very very dissatisfied and disappointed ☹️

We took my parents for the New Year Gala dinner and the team didn't fail to impress. Our first visit when travelling to the area, but it will not be the last!! The service on such a busy event was professional but still friendly and welcoming. As a vegetarian I was initially impressed by the options on the menu, which were as good as they sounded - properly planned vegetarian dishes, and not just altering a meat based dish; additional I'm unable to drink alcohol and for each part of the dinner that was alcohol based the team presented me with a lovely alternative - very impressive!! Thanks for a great evening!!

I visited this pub /Restaurant a few times in December with friends and family. The steak pie and chips is always a crowd pleaser ! I had the turkey dinner and chocolate torte from the Christmas menu and it was really good and on boxing day , the rib eye steak, which was cooked to perfection! The food is great and the service is always efficient with friendly staff

Great food loverly place BUT Had a meal here over the Xmas period and can't fault the food that much abit pricey may be but haho, Pub was nice and cosy with the fires lit and comfortable But one of the bar staff/ manager is so rude and abrasives to the customers it's embarrassing lookerly we got service from some very nice staff and were otherwise pleased

One of the best country pubs in the midlands

Just on a drive back from the lakes district and looking for lunch…. Found this because it was not too far off from the M6. What a delight! Wonderful pub with extraordinary quality of food. We loved it! Make sure to make a stop if you can… really worth the time!
