This is a lovely, warm, cosey and welcoming place. The staff are very friendly and the food is very nice. Just saw one review about the steak and ale pie being bad which is weird because its my fave dish here and trust me it's gorgeous. Packed full of big chunks of juicy, tender steak. Can't wait to go back, just the thought is making me hungry. You can't beat sitting next to their fireplace with one of their lovely malbec wines. Yum

Delicious food, I had the classic fish and chips. Dogs welcome in certain areas of the pub so this suits doggy people and non doggy people. Single sex toilets which is always great to see. Cosy atmosphere with the open fires and the smell of fresh cooking food was very enticing. Spacious place, friendly helpful staff and also the locals were very friendly. More parking at the village hall if the car park is full.

It pains me to write this but after 25 years of visiting this venue and dining here with the family I feel it necessary to register my disappointment after our latest visit. I have always loved this venue as they have always managed to cater for large parties in their private dining room. The dining room was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the menu included some Christmas dishes as well as the usual choices offered so everything was looking positive. Not everyone chose a starter and I did ask if the mains for those not having starters could be brought with the starters, this request was ignored it seems so we waited patiently for the mains. There was no doubt that some of the mains were well received, but I would certainly advise any potential diner not to order the turkey. Three of us did and all agreed it was exceedingly dried out to the point that some of it had become so transparent it resembled hard plastic. Another of the party who had scampi and chips suggested that perhaps it was time for us to seek a better venue for family gatherings. I have written to The Fitzherbert expressing my disappointment as I feel their kitchen let them down on this occasion. I am aware that some members of the party enjoyed their meals and responded to staff they had done so , unfortunately this was not the case for everyone and as the organiser of the gathering it would have been nice if my opinion had been sought on our departure. One can hardly send ones meal back when you are in a large party and have waited an hour or so to actually receive your requested dish. My advice to all potential diners. Don’t order the turkey and if you are tempted by this festive dish send it back immediately if it is extreme dried out!

We stayed for two nights this week for a family get away. We all stayed in the farmhouse which has been beautifully refurbished recently. The bedrooms were tastefully furnished with lovely bathrooms. We booked in for dinner, bed and breakfast - the food was delicious. Last but not least - the staff - they were all so friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. If you’re looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a festive meal, I highly recommend checking out Fitzherbert. There’s something so special about country pubs – the warm, inviting atmosphere, the food that somehow tastes better, and the comforting vibe that feels like a hug from grandma. We tried their new Christmas turkey dinner, and it was absolutely delightful. Perfectly cooked with all the traditional trimmings, it felt like the ultimate comfort food. Pair that with sitting by the fire, and it was pure bliss. Whether you’re after great food or a cozy winter evening, this place is a must-visit. 🌟

We did the Fitzherbert Staycation. What a deal that is! Amazing value for money. At the cottage we stayed in the Vesuvio room and boy was it special. Nothing bad to say about it, it was spot on, beautifully decorated and everything thought of. At the Fitzherbert Arms Pub myself and my partner shared the garlic mushrooms they were lovely. For our mains we both had Rib eye Steak, cooked perfectly. I suffer with allergies and I felt really supported by the staff, making me my own sauce to go with my steak, for desert we shared the sticky toffee pudding. The honey Combe ice cream was delicious. The breakfast the next day was lovely but it doesn’t come with beans which I thought was very unusual. We would like to give a special mention to Z (sorry if spelled wrong) and Kelly for taking extra care when supporting myself with allergies. This place really goes above and beyond to make sure you do have the best stay/visit. We will most definitely be returning.

It sounds a great pub/restaurant, and it was when I last visited a few years back, but I tried to book a table for 3 and even offered to pay a deposit and was told a flat 'no' you can't pre-book a table of less than eight. We now have size discrimination! This was meant to be a birthday celebration for three but I couldn't take the risk I wouldn't get a table on the night. How crazy is this booking system, even when I was prepared to pay a deposit to secure a table. Staff have been open and welcoming, food is always top notch and the serve all day so late lunches or early dinners are easy. I've always found a seat especially seeing the don't do reservations. They have loads of beer, a strong wine list and a good range of non alcoholic drinks. Food itself is great. Every day specials of a pie, a fish dish is reliable. Can not fault the roasts. It was the first time we had tried the Midweek Roast. It was fantastic!!. Just what we needed , hot, delicious and great value for money. Staff were all very welcoming and we can definitely recommend a visit.

Great coffee, great cake, friendly and welcoming staff, and a lovely vibe - my new favourite place to hang out 💫
