This is our second visit and we were very pleased again. Although wry busy we were seated by the friend and helpful staff. There are booths with different themes today we sat in the Elvis booth the decor is very interesting and a big open bar. The menu choice is vast. Gluten free option are available asked about allergens on ordering and if you aren’t sure they will go and ask the chef, you get separate cutlery and your food is served separately as well. The steak pie had plenty of meat in could have done with some more veg but was very nice. The gammon was cooked perfectly and was very nice. Will visit again

Brilliant Sunday Lunch!! Best Sunday Lunch I have had in a long time. Roast Beef and Roast pork were just Exellent. Beef dripping roast potatoes and lovelly hedge. Just a nice place to eat after a canal walk. Accompnied by a refreshing Aspels Cider. Thet do small plates as well so suits the person with a smaller appetite. Will definitely call again

Have driven past many times and decided to visit midweek. We were greeted by a lovely lady who was very polite and friendly and showed us around. I had Scampi baguette and my wife the Beef baguette. With the 2 drinks it came to under £20. Excellent value and great food. Booked for the following Sunday Lunch and again the food and service was great. So good we are going back in 2 weeks time. Lovely place, Good food and atmosphere and the staff very helpful. Personally I have not been anywhere as nice as this.

Fantastic place for good food and drink. We had Sunday lunch...the small portion was quite large and more than enough! The gravy is delicious and plenty of it. Everything was hot and really tasty. We had a quirky booth opposite the bar. Fantastic! Had a really lovely family lunch. 2nd time we have been and will absolutely go back. I have a mustard allergy do couldn't have the beef...Jack made sure I was fully aware of allergens and had printed information available. I had the roast pork......delicious. We were served quickly and by very friendly staff Jack and Jonathan. Definitely recommend and most definitely be back soon. Thank you

Staff and atmosphere were good. The clunky chicken burger was awful. A wafer thin piece of chicken in breadcrumbs so hard I couldn’t even cut it with a knife. Even the waitress looked embarrassed when she brought it over. How that was allowed to leave the kitchen is beyond me.

Lovely pub setting, food inadequate. Went today for Mothers Day, what a disappointment! Over cooked meat, rock hard potatoes and when told staff just received "oh dear, sorry about that" even though the vast majority of the meal went back. We were pleased with the starters, but the disappointment of the main and the lack of sincerity of the staff. I would not reccomend, the meal was not worth £67 for three of us. Bitterly disappointed on Mother's Day

We chose a few items of food to pick at while drinking glasses of Chardonnay. We ordered at the bar and the food service was quite fast. We chose Buttercross pulled pork, stuffing and apple sauce ciabatta served with salad garnish, Rosemary sea salted fries, Scampi bites with homemade tartre sauce, and Breaded brie bites with fig chutney. It was all delicious and piping hot, served all together on a couple of plates ready for us to share. We visited on a Monday lunchtime. Both car parks were very full with just 2 spaces vacant. Inside, the booth seating was al pretty busy but there was lots of space at both the tall and low tables. The music was at a good level so you could still comfortably hold a conversation. There is seating outside also.

Was given a table at the back was so cold we kept our coats and scarf on. At one point my friend went to the toilet just to warm up under the hand dryer. Food was luke warm and service was really slow. However the serves were mainly young kids who seem to have no customer service skills. Cheesecake portion was small but tasty. Overall disappointing wont be going again .

Restaurant was freezing ,kept out coats and scarves on , service was poor . All young kids who didn't smile or make eye contact . Waited ages for drinks and ability to order our meal . Food came and wasn't hot ,barely warm ,sat shivering . Ages waiting for service to order drinks and dessert . Wish we hadn't bothered, portions were tiny and the cheesecake was actually tasteless and there was ice in the ice cream ( literally could taste pieces of ice ) the final straw was when the young male server came over and mumbles something at me and as I hadn't heard what he said ,he said without even making eye contact ,you need to pay your bill as table service finished at 7pm . Clearly the staff haven't been trained in hospitality and customer service ,no smiles ,eye contact . Everyone just seemed miserable . We had four different people attend our table at different times and not one smiled or made eye contact . Cold food ,cold restaurant and poor service .no ambience . Won't bother again .

Lad behind the bar didn't want to speak Booked a table of eight for food (Christmas works party) Arrived on time at 5:30pm,Monday Waiter at the bar was a seriously disinterested guy who uses a cocky head flick to engage in conversation, refused to take my card or keys and start a tab so we had to make about eight payments at the bar throughout the night because they 'don't trust anyone with a tab on a weeknight, due to less staff' Less staff... he wasn't joking. After we sat down he came over with menu's and said 'come to the bar when you want to order' Yes, nobody waiting on in the restaurant what so ever! I was really disappointed that nobody advised on the booking that it would be a pay at the bar service on a weeknight, not sure if that's a new thing as I've been here a lot and never had to do this, shame it was our yearly Christmas party so I wanted it to be enjoyable Anyway, on a positive note the food quality is good value for money which thankfully made up for it a little. The two ladies who brought the food/collected glasses were polite and so was the lad who wears glasses and works behind the bar also. Unfortunately his companion needs to understand that working behind the bar means speaking, not grunting or head signals

The Crown Wharf is situated on Stone’s Ring road adjacent to Stone’s new theatre on The Trent & Mersey Canal & has an ample car park. Dedicated to Joules ales and right next to the Old Joules brewery ( now closed down & relocated to Market Drayton)it has a decking & seating outside overlooking the canal which is always busy & interesting. Inside is vast & very atmospheric with a large lively bar area & plenty of seating in both booths and bar area. There is a good food choice of typical pub meals which are served hot although there was a 40 minute wait on our last lunch time visit indicating that it’s very popular. A great addition to our Stone town

We visit the Crown Wharf quite frequently for Sunday lunch and have never been disappointed. The food is always wonderful and the service is fabulous, the staff really can’t do enough for you. We went recently with some friends who came to visit from Cambridge and we all had one of the small Sunday roasts, the food was as ever, absolutely fabulous and our friends couldn’t believe the value for money. You will have to go a very long way to find a Sunday Roast as good as at the Crown Wharf and for £9, amazing value. That’s why we go so often.

When I visited I was somewhat surprised to be served a small pie, with a mini skillet of green veg, and some gravy, on a bread board. Plates are an amazing invention, they stop the more liquid elements of a meal from running all over the table and all over you. Also, in any iteration of a pastry topped stew I've ever eaten before, pie comes with chips, or was I supposed to pay extra for those? Maybe if I had they would have arrived in one of those trendy mini fryers baskets? Staff and service were great, food was just weird!
