The Crown Wharf is situated on Stone’s Ring road adjacent to Stone’s new theatre on The Trent & Mersey Canal & has an ample car park. Dedicated to Joules ales and right next to the Old Joules brewery ( now closed down & relocated to Market Drayton)it has a decking & seating outside overlooking the canal which is always busy & interesting. Inside is vast & very atmospheric with a large lively bar area & plenty of seating in both booths and bar area. There is a good food choice of typical pub meals which are served hot although there was a 40 minute wait on our last lunch time visit indicating that it’s very popular. A great addition to our Stone town

Great venue. Had A pint of the Blonde Ale. Not sure what was going on with it. Did not stick to the glass as we drunk it. Gave the impression of being flat. No head, and not that pleasant to drink. Could have been from a barrel that needed changing, but there was a staff change during our meal so did not go back to point this out. I don't like leaving negative reviews. But I speak as I find.

Our party of 4 were interrupted by a fire alarm. Staff managed the evacuation professionally. My daughters and grandchildren arrived which increased our party to 6, then 9, and 2 dogs. We were made welcome by staff and other customers who offered to move tables to accommodate us. We thoroughly enjoyed our family catch-up. The food ordered arrived together, and George took fab pictures to remind us of our special time together.

When I visited I was somewhat surprised to be served a small pie, with a mini skillet of green veg, and some gravy, on a bread board. Plates are an amazing invention, they stop the more liquid elements of a meal from running all over the table and all over you. Also, in any iteration of a pastry topped stew I've ever eaten before, pie comes with chips, or was I supposed to pay extra for those? Maybe if I had they would have arrived in one of those trendy mini fryers baskets? Staff and service were great, food was just weird!

A unique and stunning pub in stone that feels both historic and modern when you walk in. We went as a party of 7 and had a little booth inside. Food portions were sizeable (especially the roast and the fish and chips), I had a classic pub dish (sausage and mash) which was beautifully presented. My only criticism is that it could do with a bit more veg and maybe less mash. Service was spot on throughout who made sure we had everything we needed and didn’t leave us waiting. We also managed to fit some room for dessert which is rare for me as I usually get carried away with my mains. Highly recommend the eton mess, it was delicious.

Absolutely awful customer service. Due to a waitress smashing a glass at our table I ended up with a cut to my leg, glass all over my dress and soaked jackets. You would expect an apology for this but none came. I got a plaster and an antibacterial wipe slammed down in front of me and told it’s all alright now. No accident to fill out. We were then expected to pay the whole amount for our meal which was mediocre at best. I don’t think I have ever experienced such poor customer service

Where do I start! The starters came out we waited but no cutlery was given we waited so long I had to go and ask for it. The pies that were chosen were hard and dry and really not enjoyed at all. The manager knocked over a glass of Gin on our table smashed the glass and cut the leg of my firend sitting with me and soaking us and our coats that were on the seat. All of this before we had even got our main meals. No apology was given. We had to ask for a plaster no incident book was filled in. Drinks given to us were wrong. I spoke to the mamnager telling her she needs to apologise for the insidenet she then went and hid and we did not see her for the rest of our meal! The waiting on staff were amazing and so helpful the manager needs to take acount for the miskates she did, the table and floor were coverd in broken glass and not once did she offer to move us to a clean, dry and safer table with no smashed glass everywhere! In short this is the first and last time we will be going here!!!!

Absolutely shocking customer service! We visited this evening with friends. To start with there was no cutlery with the starters, no big deal it happens. Next to us a tray of glasses got smashed, not the waiters fault, we got splashed with alcohol (no apology) still no big deal. Then when we asked for me drinks the waitress broke a glass that was on our table, glass everywhere and a cut to my leg. Glass over my dress. No apology. When we pointed out I was bleeding an older woman with a pony tail who we were led to believe was the manager she went away saying nothing, she then came back bring me a plaster and an antibacterial wipe, she say to me “there it’s all ok now” no apology, no asking how I was. We then got our meals, again now cutlery, we then found that ours drinks were wrong. We ate some of our mediocre meal and asked for the bill to find we were expected to pay the amount. Still no apology. One of the young waitresses came to take the payment we explained what had happened and she got the price of the drinks taken off. We never did see the manager never got an apology. All it would have taken was for her to say “I’m sorry” I will not be recommending this place to anyone. Absolutely disgusting way to treat paying customers.

Plenty of menu choice including vegetarian. 40 minutes wait for food but that was fine as we were served drinks quickly on the first occasion. Food no complaints whatsoever. However because it was so busy no one came to ask if we wanted more drinks. The sweet arrived with no spoons and after 5 minutes had to find someone. Minor issues. Also the licence conditions meant the window to the outside had to be shut at 9pm. It was hot so not ideal.

As always, fabulous service and good atmosphere within the venue. This place gets busy very quickly so highly recommend booking a table if your planning to eat. Tapas style plates are tasty and a good selection to choose from. We had chicken strips, scampi, and garlic bread to start, followed by steak. Menu can be a little limited, only one choice of steak, but food is of a high standard. Beautifully presented and value for money. The Crown Wharf is a firm favourite for us Large area/room, which I believe is privately bookable upstairs, ideal for family celebrations...... Update 14.06.2024 Visited today for a light bite and a lunchtime drink and have to say I was fairly disappointed. Ordered a roast beef sandwich, which I read came with onions and gravy. The sandwich arrived with one slice of beef and a light colouring of gravy, i asked at the bar where the onions were and was informed this formed part of the gravy. I was, however, offered additional gravy, which arrived in a small jug. unfortunately, the gravy was extremely watery, and it lacked taste at all. Half my plate was covered in salad, which I don't eat and wasn't listed on the menu. The beef itself was very chewy and a struggle to eat as a sandwich. We were offered no napkins or cutlery, so we had to ask. Left the location very deflated and disappointed as previous visits have been good. Other tables had ordered loaded chips, which looked lovely, and the plates were overflowing. My sandwich lacked any volume, and for £7.50 I expected a lot more for my money. Shall be hesitate to reviait to be honeat..

Went for a birthday meal and had booked a table in the restaurant in advance . We were takken to a table in the restaurant area and then told to order at the bar , we were told we couldn't open a tab which meant we had to go back and forth to the bar to order food ,then more drinks and then desserts .there was no waitress service even though we had booked and reserved a table in the restaurant area !!!! Very disappointing as this wasn't made clear in advance . We had been here before with family and had been seated in the restaurant and obviously had waitress service meaning we could just stay in the restaurant area throughout our visit and not keep leaving that area to walk across the bar area to order . The young man who served us our meals was really miserable and looked like he didn't want to be there , not even smile when he brought our food. The pastry on my pie was really hard as if it had been sitting on the hob for a long time and it did take quite a while for our food to come . Dessert was meant be vanilla cheesecake with black cherry , really small portions and the cherrys were red not black and they were absolutely tasteless. Really disappointed as we could have gone anywhere where you go up to the bar and order and this wasn't what we expected as we had booked a table in their restaurant , the food wasn't up to the standard of our previous visit so not somewhere I would go back to for a special occasion .

Animals were great, but avoid the cafe, treated as an inconvenience as soon as we walked in, overpriced microwaved potatos with a tired undressed "salad". Very limited children's menu.

What a little hidden gem the Bod at Stafford is. It was very busy when I was there the atmosphere was great and families were obviously very welcome and like wise the families appeared conformable in the establishment. We had lunch and coffee. There is a bar available, but we were driving. The food took a little while to come but it was really busy. I had the club sandwich, which was excellent, and I could only manage half at the time. The staff were very helpful and supplied me with a takeaway box. The other 2 adults and my granddaughter really enjoyed their food also. I really enjoyed the concept of the Bod, and the friendly staff along with the good food and atmosphere has put the Bod firmly on my places to eat again list. Highly recommend the Bod.
