I had a burger, which was very filling and two drinks. We actually split the bill equally amongst the four of us. 2 not drinking alcohol and 2 were. The 3 others in my group had loaded chips with different toppings and extra onion rings as a side. I got to try an onion ring, which was lovely. I'd have taken a photo, but it was too delicious to wait and take a photo of. We would have had a dessert, but we were all too full. Perhaps next time. The customer service was spot on, and we felt well looked after. No complaints, just the car park can be full, so it took me longer to wait for a space to become available.

We ordered Scampi and Panko breaded Brie to start. The scampi was acceptable but nothing special. The Brie was undercooked - ie luke warm - so it wasn't melty in the middle. Mains were Chicken Curry and fish and chips. The Fish and chips was acceptable, but overpriced for what it was. Mushy peas were awful. I'd rather have had a bigger portion of peas from a tin. Chicken curry was absolutely dreadful. We both looked at it and said "what on earth is that? is that what £15 gets you?". Portion size was far too small. It was mostly rice, there was hardly any meat or sauce. The chicken was overcooked and tough. It was so bad we sent it back, and ended up changing it for fish and chips. We haven't been to eat here since just after it opened 2 years ago. We were kind of hoping that things would have improved in that time, but sadly not. Some very strange menu choices: pie and chips with red cabbage? Whats wrong with plain old peas and carrots? The cynic in me would say it was done deliberately to make you pay extra for the green veg. I don't think we would eat here again.

I was a bit peckish when I called in today and ordered fish and chips. A little expensive at £15. It was just about passable save for the so-called mushy peas. They looked and tasted more like green playdo. I did complain but that obviously fell on deaf ears.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch for the family as a treat for my sons 17 th birthday on the recommendation of friends. Looked at the menu beforehand and we were all looking forward to beef dinner. Arrived in good time for our 5 o’clock reservation to be told the restaurant was very busy and our table was not ready. Not a problem got a drink at the bar and waited. Approx 45 minutes later our table was ready . So hungry by now to wait another 40minutes to be told sorry no beef and no sides of cauliflower cheese available! All settled for the chicken which was nice enough but a very disappointed birthday boy

Visited for Sunday Lunch. Er have eaten here on a few occasions and the food is consistently good. Excellent Sunday Roasts, with the option of a smaller portion(which is plenty for me). The slumbering monk gravy is top notch, veg is delicious and varied, and the roast beef tender and tasty. Only wish it that it was closer to home so that I could have a nice glass of wine with my meal. Will keep coming back

Lovely pub which is more than a pub. Atmosphere second to none, staff friendly and helpful, service very quick. Huge inside, the building is on the site of the Joules brewery and has many parts taken from other old pubs, doors, pictures, fireplace etc. Different areas to sit, high stools and tables, a snug type comfortable area, a lovely piano which you can play if competent, and individual seating 'cubicles' for small groups to talk amongst themselves. Outside seating areas, one right beside canal. There is a theatre and live music on Fridays and Sundays. The staircase to upper floor cloakrooms etc is unique in itself. We havent tried their restaurant yet but will do. Beautifully lit up outside at night time, ample parking. There is much more, a visit is essential, plenty of room for all.

Everything was cooked well especially the vegetables, which l often have to send back in other establishments l have visited. The cauliflower cheese extra side was one of the best l have tasted and was enough for the three of us. My friends and l will definitely make the Wharf one of our go to places for Sunday lunch.

My friend wanted to go to the nearby popular chain restaurant, but they don’t cater for my diet/allergies anymore so thankfully I booked the Crown. I knew their menu had changed since last time I went (which I was disappointed about because I really liked the old thing that I could eat!). I needn’t have been, despite their being nothing obviously gluten free, dairy free AND vegetarian on the Sunday menu they pulled a gluten free vegan pie out of the bag! It was delicious. Thanks so much for catering for people with dietary requirements/restrictions & the staff were lovely too. My friend enjoyed the meat Sunday dinner very much too. And if you have a group booking don't expect to get any drinks until everyone on your table has arrived. Waited half an hour for our drinks order to be taken. Having to edit AGAIN. Manager has advised the people who got food poisoning to go to the GP and gain a stool sample for testing... You cannot get into the GP for food poisoning in one day. Told me she's sold this many roasts and no one else has become ill. Yet the 4 people who have become ill weren't with each other in the day so therefore haven't eaten anywhere else. Not happy with her response.

They did issue a free pudding but still disappointing. - Most had Coke, Pepsi etc but all tasted flat & when we quizzed them, they said they had checked and all ok. This was before I was going to order, 2 soups, 1 vegetarian ploughmans and 1 meat ploughmans. No perhaps any reader of this review can explain why this selection could possibly take an hour to prepare and serve???? Anyway, they lost £50 of takings today and will never eat / try to eat there again. Management need to get a grip as there were tables and chairs to spare and most of the food is pre, pre, pre prepared (ie delivered ready)

Popped in after the Street Food event. Never been there before and it's a lovely place and served really quickly. Didn't have anything to eat but what I saw looked really good. Would recommend a visit.
