Plume of Feathers in Stafford

I love this pub and we have visited several times in the last few weeks for a meal or coffee. Atmospheric, friendly, helpful staff. Safety measures well thought out. Everywhere is very clean. We prefer to sit in the bar. Doors are open and it feels safer. Today we were told to sit in the restaurant - no choice offered.Those of us who were in the dining area were clustered together and more people were added to the cluster as they arrived. The restaurant has a low ceiling, no windows were open and it felt oppressive. I cannot understand why we were asked to sit virtually back to back. To save on cleaning perhaps? It was worrying. tables need to be cleaned along the sides not just the tops!No quibbles about the food or the service, it was to a high standard as usual. £1 for lime in half a lime and soda seems expensive!

Went for double anniversary meal....staff very pleasant, particularly the hostess who greeted us and the waitress. Unfortunately no check back when we got main courses despite looking for a server, the rump steak was tough and very gristly and most of it was left. Waitess apologetic and offered a complimentary dessert however we were disappointed in the quality. The portion sizes are large. I just wished the condiments were presented on a plate or even in a glass or cup. Just being plonked on the table felt like we were in a truckstop. It's the little things that elevate a place from ok to great. Totally appreciate covid19 restrictions apply and understand the need for single use but just felt it lets standards down.

OK, I appreciate that covid rules were in place and staff were possibly hard to find so I am not going to complain about the slow service. The food was fine but on examining my bill I found that I was charged nothing for a pint of soda water but £2.00 for a pint of lime and soda. How can you possibly justify £2.00 for a squirt of lime?

My wife and I we were cruising the Trent and Mersey Canal and decided to pop into the Plume of Feathers for a drink. The menu looked so interesting and reasonably priced that we decided to have a meal as well. The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and efficient. We will be recommending this pub to our friends.

Visited for lunch without booking, staff where very accommodating and found a table for us and the dogs. Choose the lamb kofta and katsu curry, both very good and great price at only £13. Tried both of Morrissey’s ales, both surprisingly good 😂

Fabulous sitting under the canopy outside. Had three tables for Covid rules. Maisie our waitress was really attentive and friendly. She was knowledgeable of the drinks available too. The food was delicious. There was a wide choice of alcoholic drinks available. Relaxed atmosphere. Food was nicely presented. First time visit and will definitely be returning.

Booked a table for Sunday 27th June by phone several weeks ago. Offered a number of timeslots and chose 7pm. Arrived promptly to be told that the kitchen shut at 6.45pm and there was nothing they could do for us. I was asked if I had got the date wrong, it's been my birthday for almost 60 years so unlikely to get the wrong date. Had I inadvertently booked for The Plume of Feathers in Cornwall? We arrived by canal boat and there are no canals in Cornwall. The manager persisted in referring to me as Sweetheart despite me asking him not to. So we were left in an unfamiliar area with no means of transport and no assistance forthcoming to recommend elsewhere. I get that mistakes happen but absolutely no attempt at an apology. I gave them the opportunity to respond to my concerns by email before resorting to social media, but 48 hours on not even had an acknowledgement. So absolutely disgusted. Avoid it like the plague! They do not understand the meaning of the phrase customer service and do not deserve to be in business. Thanks so much The Plume of Feathers team for ruining my birthday

The pub is fantastic, even with everyone spaced out there was atmosphere as there was good music at a good volume. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the menu looked great, but if one salad constitutes your ‘gluten free options’ then you should change your marketing! Even the chips have gluten on them!In your defence, your menu allergy labelling was good, but when it doesn’t leave any options to actually eat, it seems pointless.To be fair, it was a lovely salad, and you actually made crispy sweet potato fries (which is hard!), but who wants to go out for tea and eat a salad?!! It’s the easy option for restaurants, and to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. In this day and age of so many people having allergies and intolerances, you are missing a potentially huge customer base. You could have a couple of flexible options (not salad) which could be made gluten / dairy-free / vegan on request - other places manage it. My boyfriend on the other hand had an amazing pie, kale, and chips, and he loved it! The staff’s parting comment of ‘see you again’ seemed ironic

Been a few times since we could go back out for food . Every time it has been consistently good service , excellent food and attentive staff

The Plume of Feathers is or should I say was one of our favourite places to go. Lockdown clearly hasn’t been kind. The staff mostly new wander around like they don’t know what is going on. It took 40 minutes to get our starters, then that again for our main. 2 of the 3 mains came, but we had no cutlery and waiting another 8 minutes for the third meal to come then waited again for cutlery. The steak had to be sent back as 1 it looked burnt ( asked for med/well) and there was salad and salad dressing all over it which we had not asked for. When in came back it was basically beef you’d serve on a Sunday Dinner. No one checked if everything was ok. I had to wait 25 minutes to get another drink. There were 6 staff inside and only 10 tables taken??????I overheard one of the waitresses go to a table and interrupted the people’s conversation to ask if they were ready for the bill. Bearing in mind they had been served drinks 5 minutes earlier. I brought another incident to the manager’s attention who refunded the meals hence why I have not disclosed that, but all in all it was a very poor and disappointing experience! It is such a shame this former amazing place seems like it has gone down hill and sadly I don’t think we will be returning anytime soon.

Second visit for Sunday lunch today 6th June 2021. Seated quite quickly and pre meal drinks ordered and delivered in excellent time. Food ordered and again and served promptly, had to wait a few minutes for veg. Pork belly roast followed by strawberry pavlova; outstanding food. Staff very helpful and friendly, a well run and clean establishment. Will definitely go again.

We visited here for an evening meal. The food was lovely a really excellent meal for a pub. The pie with the crispy kale was amazing. Although a negative was our waitress was quite snotty and rude though in manner. Our drinks order was incorrect and when we raised this she made us feel quite uncomfortable and when bringing the correct drinks back to the table she was very rude.

Service wasn’t very good, had to wait about an hour for food and the table that got seated after us food came out before us and there was more of them than us! Food was ok apart from the steak was tiny and the garlic bread was horrendous literally wasn’t even bread it was just a hard pitta with a bit of garlic spread on. Had to wait for cutlery after staff brought desserts out first with no cutlery and no apology for this and no check backs on food. Wouldn’t go back. Very overpriced and over rated

Had to remind staff about our drinks order , which was sorted and offered coffee at the end of our meal , The meals that we had were excellent ..

Love the food and it’s good value compared to other local “trendy” venues, really like the Morrissey beers, unfortunately they need to up their service as being told it’s a twenty minute wait to get a drink is not good enough, especially on a sunny day with a convenience store selling drinks just over the bridge.How can facilities be being checked during Covid times if there is no toilet paper?

Called here while passing on our narrowboat, having really enjoyed this pub previously but disappointed to discover that they aren't serving food at the nice looking outdoor tables - only indoors. We did not want to eat indoors (due to covid, we would feel safer outdoors currently), so ended up leaving without eating. Disappointing as there were plenty of free tables outdoors too.

Booked for late lunch , we had the salt cod fritters, steak and Buddha salad with the beef all was especially good. Served with care & well presented. For desert I had the Pavlova this was disappointing and did not look very appealing and was not as delicious as the rest of the meal.

Excellent food and service would recommend for lunch. Also visited after a walk for coffee sat outside.

Outdoor space fab, service fab. Pie was excellent. Mezze stater poor just small pitta and small dips. Halloumi katsu main - sauce too rich and just masses of sweet potato fries, ate it to be polite.

Had a lovely meal here yesterday the 7th of May, cold out but the covered outdoor dining area has lots of patio heaters. Ate here because of the previous reviews and glad we did, generous portions of well cooked food, fish and chips especially good as was the soup and the duck pancake. Might have been nice to have the wine opened rather than do it ourselves and asked to taste it but that aside all in all a strong recommendation if you are visiting Stoke on Trent and are wondering where to eat.

impromptu visit today and after disappointing visits to other pubs in the area we couldn’t recommend the plume enough. With a warm welcome and accommodating us without a problem the service and food was beyond our expectations, even though the British weather was dreadful they made us feel so welcome and went above to make a lovely visit, under cover, pubs and restaurants in the area should take some lessons

The service was amazing and they took food allergies seriously and made us feel it was no problem at all. The menu is restricted at the moment but still plenty of choice and excellent value. The 'small' plates are not small. They are smaller than the full size but still give plenty of food. One of our group ordered 2 small plates thinking it would be slightly larger than Tapas. There was a lot of food and he couldn't finish it all!The steaks were perfectly cooked and the side salads had a good dressing on them. They have a great outdoor seating area covered with a large canvas so that even if it rains you can eat without getting wet. We are generally quite nervous about going to pubs at the moment but there were no concerns here as staff took Covid-19 rules seriously.We will certainly be back for more food.

I visited this restaurant this evening with my friends. We ordered a steak and a burger which were cooked to perfection on how we like them. Darren was our server and he was very professional and helpful when we had an issue. This issue was that where we had originally been seated we began to feel the cold. We raised this issue to Darren who very kindly relocated us to another table underneath a heater. His customer service was outstanding and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to both my family and friends as well as returning to this restaurant my self as the whole experience was exemplary.

Can’t fault the service or the food! We went on a Sunday (booked in advance which I’d recommend as they were turning people away). I had a delicious beef roast with lots of meat and fantastic veg, and my partner had lamb kofta which he greatly enjoyed and was a very generous portion. We then shared a lovely sticky toffee pudding. Oh and good beer too! We felt very well looked after and the staff were brilliant. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area!

Called at 1130 on the off chance whilst on a bike ride. They were fully booked for the afternoon and evening but managed to squeeze us in for a breakfast and a beer. Looby had a bacon and mushrooms baguette and I had the most amazing bacon cheese and black oatcakes. Jacob was very friendly and helpful. Will remember to book next time

Visited for first time yesterday post lock down and had really good time. Was busy but Jacob the Manager did everything he could to get us a table as quickly has he could as we hadn’t booked. He got us a great table under the new canvas next to a heater. 2 young waitresses were very friendly and efficient. Food was great - I had the ale pie which had been badly missed and my girl friend had the small plate brisket. Good menu choice considering current situation. Everything Covid wise spot on. Will definitely be going back soon

Had an amazing lunch today! FANTATSIC food (plenty for light lunch), amazing service Jacob was extremely friendly and welcoming! Outdoor area was very clean and tidy Could not fault and is ladies will be returning :)

Pre booked an outside table, we had to wait an hour and a half for the previous people to go, they were then moved to a different table.Ordered the food one meal was forgotten by the time this came out everyone else had finished there's. Asked for condiments they didn't arrive, staff seemed like they didn't want to be there , everything seemed like too much trouble. Really disappointed!

Dirty/greasy kitchen. Most Staff are unhygienic and lazy and are constantly moaning and slagging off/talking about everyone. Service is slow. Not enough staff on at a time. Food tastes good tho but I bet it’s been dropped on the dirty floor, picked up wiped and served CLEAN YOUR KITCHEN AND STOP BEING DIRTY SCRUBS IN THERE

Absolutely genius how the Plume of Feathers have achieved a restaurant ambience in their outdoor area. Very Covid secure. Staff amazing and service first class. The food was gorgeous and a great range offered. The selection of drinks on offer was fantastic. The heated and lit tent is cosy but airy/well ventilated making you feel safe but also not exposed to the elements. A true work of genius! Can highly recommend the burger and the house brew Morrisey's gold. Fantastic experience. We shall return. I would recommend booking though as it is so good!!!

I had an amazing time yesterday, the team did everything possible to make us feel safe and welcome! Shame about the small minority that cannot stick to rules of staying at their own table but the team dealt with it amazingly! So happy to just be sat with a pint in my hand and seeing people genuinely enjoying being back at work. Will be back very soon :)

Nice pub grub and nice feel to the restaurant, the bar side is nice for a pint and they also have a lovely outdoor area in the summer. Just a shame that you have to ask staff waiting on the tables about 4 times before you actually get what you asked for. Apart from that is good

Booked in last minute for my husbands birthday today and it didn’t disappoint! The food was amazing (I had fish and chips, partner had pie) so delicious! COVID rules were all being followed and service was exceptional. We had a slight wait for food because the onion gravy had been put on the pie in error and we were offered a free desert! Didn’t expect this kind offer and really appreciated it from the staff. We live locally and will be returning very soon!!!

This evening we visited the Plume of Feathers at Barlaston as a friend had told me they had good social distancing arrangements, we knew the food was good as we have eaten here before. Table booking is essential as its part of their Corona virus procedures. We didn't book until this afternoon and were lucks as we only saw one other empty table.What I didn't expect was all their food prices reduced to reflect the Government reduction in VAT passing it straight on to the customer. We both had Lamb Koftas seasoned with there own special spice mix, char grilled and served on toasted flat bread with houmous, tzatziki, sweet chilli and red onion pickle with a side of Persian vegetable tagine and giant couscous.Not only was it a large portion it was bursting with flavours and a bit warm with the chilly.

We stopped on a wet Saturday night hadn't booked and luckily got a table last one. Staff friendly and obliging. Hubby had steak chips and salad. Steak was cooked how he wanted whole meal was delicious. I had the Katsu chicken with best sweet potato fries I have ever had and a lovely spicy salad. Whole meal again was delicious but unable to finish due to the amount. Prices reasonable. I also had the Gin Moment which was lovely. Defo coming back.

Amazing food and service. Booked as we had planned to moor up for the night and had 7:15pm planned for dinner. We arrived at 6pm and asked if we could come in and they sorted a table and were excellent, we all agreed it was the best meal out we have had for a very long while and can’t wait to plan to come back.

Stopped in here on a recent canal boat holiday and found it to be excellent. Really large spacious bar with well implemented safety measures for COVID. The food was really good, limited choice for vegans (1 starter and 1 main) but it was really tasty. Wines were good. Staff were really friendly and the dogs were welcome in the bar area. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We visited the pub/restaurant twice on a recent canal holiday and were thoroughly impressed both times. We received a warm and friendly welcome, and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed despite the current social distancing rules. The menu is not huge, but the dishes offered covered a range of tastes from traditional pub grub, through to Japanese style katsu curry. Service was fairly quick and the food was excellent and well presented.The pudding menu was also fairly small, but didn't disappoint. A particular highlight was a warm chocolate cake served with cherry ice cream, summer fruits and panna cotta.We were so impressed by our visits. Superior pub food at reasonable prices.

We visited while passin on our narrowboat. We enjoyed the Morrissey Blonde beer and stayed for food. Interesting choices on the menu - the burger was huge and succulent and the chips were perfect. The katsu chicken was delicious - perfectly cooked, not dry, and interestingly served with a sort of kimchi slaw which added to the flavours. We sat outside at distanced tables. A very pleasurable experience we hope to repeat next time we pass this way.

I like it here , it’s nice drive from home and nice pub , however it has to be the most inconsistent eatery I frequent ! Never bad , often average, occasionally very good . We went on Saturday 5th sept with a very disappointing menu , not very balanced , eg 2 chicken curries and nothing else chicken on ! What I had was ok to be honest , though I’m not quite sure the duck in oatcake works ?? Nice fish n chips and the mrs had the pie with crispy kale which doesn’t go together. Staff were lovely and the pricing is good with the VAT reduction

My friend planned a surprise not knowing I'd been before. It was disappointing the first time. I kept an open mind. Service was lackadaisical to say the least. I ordered fish and chips. Batter was heavy and the fish dry, chips non remarkable. My friend had a steak from memory. We also shared a pizza. The pizza tasted like a Chicago town from a shop. Doughy and greasy. We ate 2 slices only. They informed us know one finishes the pizza suggesting it was too big! More like not very nice. It was well priced but not by any stretch of the imagination gasto pub quality. I would not return or recommend. Its gimmicky and more of a theme restaurant for a actor most ppl haven't heard of unless they're in there 40s like me! Tacky.

Popped in for dinner whilst staying in the area. Great food and staff were excellent with a good understanding of hope to run a safe pub. Felt really comfortable and will be back next time in the area.

Have visited twice in the past week. On both occasions the food was delicious. Really enjoyed the Belly Pork Sunday Lunch. We will definitely be returning again. The staff were also amazing especially Olivia. See you all soon

This was our first time back to the Plume following lockdown Waiting staff were pleasant, service was good and the food was very enjoyable. But the government “Eat Out to Help Out” discount was not applied properly and when questioned was told it was right, then it was the computer’s fault. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but there’s not much doubt about this one. They should have realised that there was a serious mistake They altered the bill when asked, but it took some persuasion and it was only sorted out when the manager was called. Thankfully it ended well but it did cast a bit of a shadow over an otherwise perfect meal. My advice is to be vigilant and check your bill. We still gave a tip!

What a disaster this was from start to finish!!!We booked here for an anniversary meal after hearing great things, this was not the case on our trip!Firstly they didn't book our table. Second issue was they didn't give us the full range of menu so we were limited to what we could choose. What we did choose was awful. The bombay lamb burger was topped with a soggy naan bread and what looked like a whole Indian menu slapped on top. Presentation of the pulled brisket was like a child's dinner that was just thrown onto the plate and the crispy kale was dripping in oil. The service team seemed very awkward and confused as to where food should be going. Even to the point where they brought us the wrong food (we didn't even get the menu for the food they tried to bring us by mistake) and then argued insisting it was our table. Such a let down after hearing good things about this place. I hope it was just an off day for them but we won't be returning to see if it was!

Came on a Thursday lunch-time, not on a 50% off day, with 2 others. Had a nice meal. The service was good, friendly and we didn't have to wait an unreasonable length of time for our meals. My only negative was that the salad leaves (ready-bagged, I think) I had with my bombay burger had grit in it, so couldn't be eaten - a little wash and it would have been fine. I would come here again as I am a local...

I ventured out with my partner for a few drink and some food last Sunday, we sat in the big white tent. It had 2 sides on and the 3rd of the 4 sides has plants right up to the top so it is in effect a room. We had just started to tuck into our meal when a table of four sat in the far corner and all sparked up, 3 cigarettes 1 a cigar, lovely and a throw back to the 90s when eating out generally involved someone smoking next to you. One lady with her family did get up and go and speak to the staff to complain about the smoking to be told 'it's an outside space' which clearly it isn't given 3 sides are enclosed almost totally. A member of staff came out in the end and unfastened 2 elastics and created a 4inch gap, but never asked the smokers to move outside of the marquee. I was astounded by this as all licensed premises smoking rules were breached but the management don't care. They are only interest in notes in the tills rather than happy customers. Won't be rushing back my lungs need a rest. Used to love the pub but it's going to the dogs unfortunately.

We had a wonderful meal on Friday night. The food was outstanding and our waitress Olivia was very pleasant and helpful and always made sure we were comfortable! Lovely time, really recommend.

Came here for lunch today and our meals were superb as was the service. We had mezze starters which had fresh bread among some lovely dips and the steak and burger mains represented fantastic value for money. Drinks were reasonable for the area and service was on point. Good work guys keep it up

We went for a nice meal after a very busy day at Alton towers, the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was very nice. I ordered the soup of the day which was delicious, one of the best soups I’ve ever tasted and I also got a steak. The steak was beautiful and so were the chips. The food was a 5/5 but we got there at 7 and ended up finish eating at 9:10. The food was quite slow getting it out the kitchen but it was definitely worth the wait. One thing they could do is add in a few screens from the tables because I felt quite close to the other tables and other people.

The pub had only been open a day (after covid) however the food was amazing and big portions. The staff couldn't do anymore for us. A limited menu however a range of food was provided.

Visited this pub whilst on a canal boat holiday and stopped here for dinner. Even with the restrictions it was still a great menu. My son had a huge pizza, Dave had a fab steak pie and the katsu chicken was one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Great pub, great atmosphere, fantastic food! Thanks Neil! You must be so proud of this place. Would highly recommend.

The food was superb. We had the soup of the day, mezze and duck oatcakes for starters. The soup was tomato and red pepper. It was fresh tasting; excellent. The mezze plate was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spicy heat. The duck was moist and flavourful. Very good. We then split a pizza. It was the best pizza we have had in a long time. The dough was cooked to perfection and the toppings were well balanced. The beer was great too! Four cask ales to choose from (and a fifth about to be added). We will definitely stop here again anytime we are passing through. Great value for the money.

Love this place - food is always incredible with service to match. I’ve visited as a group and as a couple and the service is always the same. Plus they have my favourite gin! Highly recommended

Despite current pressure, on visiting today it was lovely to see the pub was spotless and warm. Team working hard at looking after guests and maintaining the place. Vicki and Karen looked after us wonderfully. New baked alaska dessert is easily the best pud I have had out in a long time and baguettes were as fabulous as ever. Please support this cracking place in whatever way you can

In the past we used this pub regular after walking our dog Henry over the downs. The pub has great staff and very friendly managers, today was very busy, the pub has a great selection of draught ales including Bass, Plume Porter and Jaipur and a selection Morrisseys Blonde and Morrissys Plume bitter. We sat in the bar area which is dog friendly, we decided to have a couple of starters, my wife had the homemade sweet potato yellow pepper and coconut soup, which she said was amazing, I had my usual Stornaway Black pudding served with smoked haddock scotch egg beer pickled onions and curry mayonnaise, great starter. Definitely worth a visit.

Great food our favourite place, been coming to your restaurant since July when we left Spain. Great staff great service, Wonderful food. Come to you almost every Sunday and sometimes in the week.... Keep it up, Highly recommend! !

I haven't been this way on our narrow boat since Neil Morrisey bought the place, so was interested to see what it was like.Firstly it is still recognisable a "pub" rather than just an eatery, which I am always in favour of.The place has been well modernised, the pricing structure is fantastic (all mains and starters, all the pub grub dishes, vegetarian meals and desserts are the same price as each other, so you know exactly what you are spending) and the beer is no more expensive than many pubs.The main thing though, of course, is the food is brilliant (I had Staffordshire oatcakes with duck and the trio of lamb) and the service matches the food.Brilliant effort all round!

Have been here now twice, each time really friendly welcoming staff and very tasty food on the menu. On both occasions I chose the fish scotch egg, indian styled lamb burger which was really tender and flavourful followed by the panna cotta for dessert which was a great finishing. I'd recommend all three to anyone. Really good quality meal

We arrived mid week unannounced. The car park was full as was the bar and restaurant. We noticed there was a quiz about to start in the bar area. This had obviously drawn a crowd. There were quiz special bar snacks available. We wanted to sit in the restaurant. Not a problem and after a few moments were shown to a table. We were quickly greeted and drinks orders were taken. The food did take a little while to be served if I am honest. A lot longer than on previous visits. A possible reason for this soon became apparent. There was a table of four who seemed to be desperate to send their food back for some reason or another. 3 times I watched their food being returned. They stayed and ordered dessert. So couldn’t have been that disappointed with the food!! Sometimes I think people just complain to try and get money knocked off the bill. I over heard one of the party say ‘he’s a good negotiator’ when discussing what they were going to do and who was going to speak to the manager. One of the party’s food was cold. Part of their order included a cold rice salad dish. I found this very disrespectful. The staff - especially the waiting on staff all work hard in pubs and restaurants up and down the country. And yes there are times when they can be rude and really don’t deserve a tip. But at the Plume I don’t think this is the case. Another table on our other side also over heard the comments. And they too decided to try their luck and get a discount. Apparently the pastry was not as crispy as usual. The chips were not up to normal standard. They didn’t eat the pastry either so maybe they had a point.We hadn’t visited for a while and were wondering what had changed. Our food arrived an we were hungry by the time it did eventually arrive. It was hot and the chips were delicious! I enjoyed it. My fish an chips were satisfying and filling. They were hot. An tasty. The Lamb burger was a little odd in how it’s served - on a nan with a popodum on top! But it was nice if not a little dry. The experience of people complaining was not nice. We were considering taking the family for a celebratory meal but will now think of alternatives. We will try again in the future, but not straight away.

We visited yesterday and again we had excellent service and food. Love the fact that dogs are welcome and the staff are so friendly and helpful.

Had a lovely meal here. Both our meals were freshly cooked using good quality food. Can't recommend enough if you like good meals for a great price.

Lunch time meal/snack with grandchildren. Waited 35 minutes for food to be served in stages. Asked for the missing bowl of chips. They never arrived. Complained to the manager who wasn’t that bothered and had the price of chips refunded. Food nothing to write home about, when it finally arrived!

Last night we went for my Wife's special Birthday meal and it was pretty perfect.

Highly recommended. The food is outstanding and the chips are on point. Quick service by the staff and they are very polite. Definitely coming here again!

Fantastic pub with great atmosphere, fabulous fish & chips! First time at the venue and very impressed.

Pre-booked a table for a family gathering. All meals were pre-ordered. We waited 40 minutes for startes, 45 minutes for mains and another 45 for the desserts! WHY??

Had been here before for a drink at the bar, but this was the first time in the restaurant.

4 for Sunday roast last Sunday. The meat was virtually “unchewable” and was difficult to cut. The veg was cold. Told the manager who did nothing. Poor show.

It really is wonderful to find a pub-restaurant that consistently manages to maintain a very high standard in all aspects of its work. Such a things is like finding hens teeth in our opinion!

Visited with work before Christmas. We had pre ordered all course and sent all details a head of our visit. Starters came out but only for a couple of people, some starters missed yet they were all on the information pre provied that the waitress had in her hand! Salt cod starter though was very tasty. For main i had the beef randang, home made flat bread which was not home made it was a mini packet nan bread and the salad it should have come with as stated on the menu was no where to be seen and instead i had a packet salad thrown on the plate. Desert was the same as the starter, some of us got it, some didn't and again we had to point out that its all on the sheet in your hand. Food was slow to come out yet the resturant was quiet, expected a bit more really from this place Food pre ordered for people with nut allergies which at the time of booking was deamed suitable, on rechecking when we arrived some of it wasn't or they were not really that sure! Not sure in today's age... come on this is basic stuff now! . May return at some point.

The food here has always been excellent, as is the service. I particularly recommend the pies! both the Morrisey ale pie and the chicken pie are scrumptious.

Me and my partner had a lovely meal here. I had the blondie ale pie which was fantastic, the amount of meat you got was amazing. My partner had the Katsu curry which he ate every bit and really enjoyed it. Lovely country pub with great food.

Popped in for a quiet bite to eat whilst working, who ever the tall "gentleman" is in the suite from the 1950s is a rude arrogant man. Speaking to which I presume "his staff" like they are a peice of dirt! Get some respect!

Had a family meal here for my daughter’s birthday. Food was great with huge portions will definitely be returning.

Lovely atmosphere. Good selection of ales. Food well priced and very tasty. Will definitely visit again soon. Dogs welcome.

Bought tickets for the New Years eve bash and thoroughly enjoyed every second.

Always come to the plume as it’s a good family pub. The food and snacks i have are always top notch. Service has always been consistent for me and they really engage with the regulars. Dylan the bar man is also an absolute pleasure and is a credit to the establishment. Overall a good quality pub.

Went to the plume of feathers for the lunch menu at around 13:30 on a rather quieter than usual afternoon. We found a table next to the window which was still to be cleaned, im not too fussy about the odd dog hair as we too had brought the dog, however on this occasion there had been no attempt to clean the table or an offer to clean it given once we had sat down. Having fetched out drinks and ordered food at the bar all seemed well other than the grubby table. Having to wait nearly 40 minutes for 2 burgers when the pub was quiet was somewhat excessive, when the waitress delivered the food there was no pleasantries or offers of vinegar/sauces. We asked at the bar for these but we weren't able to just take some back we had to wait for another waitress to bring them over, yet another wait. The burger was from the £13 menu which although a little expensive this was compensated for with portion size and usually a high quality. On this occasion both burgers were very dry and made for hard eating. The waitress agreed that they looked overcooked and said she would ask the chef if this was a change of supplier or just an error on the grill. Having waited another 10 minutes with no response we left what we couldn't bring ourselves to eat and cleared off. We regularly eat at here but feel on this occasion the preceding standards were not met. Hopefully this was a one off, however if this is a sign of what to expect in the future then there are plenty of other establishments to try. Better luck next time.

Stopped here for tea and some soup at around 1230 today. Ordered and paid at the bar and requested that as we were sitting outside, may we have the soup really hot. Tea arrived...a nice large pot however, with only one tea bag in it!!!!!!!! Still it was hot if weak!

We visited here in early December for a pint and some food, we have also been a few times before.

To be honest the whole thing was not great. The waitresses just do not smile and really don’t care.

Booked a table at 3pm on Sunday. Although very busy the food was really good.

Booked for 12.30. Food ordered at circa 12.55. Food arrived circa 13.50. Four sandwiches with chips and one pie. One assumes that the size of reataurant is matched by the kitchen size and staff numners. What always dissapoints me is how staff fail to acknowledge any delay. Just an occasional visit to the table...we are sorry for the delay etc. It makes a huge difference. When the food arrived...fabulous chips and ok sandwich but no more. All a bit disappointing.

8 of us turned up without booking during the busy Friday before Christmas and had a super meal. Lisa behind the bar was great and we were well looked after. Friendly local pub atmosphere and fine ales.

The place itself is lovely and the food was beautiful the only problem we had was lack of service waited over 30 mins before we could get another drink never got asked if the food was ok to be fair it was . We had to ask for the desert menu after waiting a long time again also asking fir more drinks even though we hadn’t finished the previous ones in case we had wait again ! If they were busy in restaurant I would accept the delays but there was only 4 tables in there ! And early 7-30 pm don’t think I’d return was a big let done for our first visit to this place oh ask for bill tha came quickly ‍♀️ X

Usually excellent for lunch, the Christmas menu yesterday was very average and more than that disappointing.

Don’t know how they can justify charging £6 for halloumi starter that had 1 thin piece of halloumi, late on a Sunday night, did they run out or something? I’ve had this previously and other occasions there have been at least 3 pieces, really inconsistent and I feel ripped off

Knew I would be passing so decided to try Neil Morrisey's pub. It's not quite the sophisticated experience that the website purports and is not far removed from any other big chain pub restaurant. There's certainly a good selection of drinks and the general appearance of the place is nice. I ate bar side and the three sausages were nice enough - but not remarkable. Giving it a fourth star on the basis of patronage feels unfair, so 'average' sums it up.

Went for lunch with hubby and friends. Choice was very good. Went for black pudding with smoked haddock scotch egg, not overly generous with the black pudding (1 slice broken into 4) even so extremely delicious. 3 of us had beer batted fish and chips and this was disappointing. I think the fat must have been a bit too warm when putting fish is as the batter was very dark brown almost burnt but the whole thing was extremely greasy. In fact my plate had small collections of grease and if you pressed the batter you could see the grease. We all left the batter just taking the fish out (this was lovely) and left most of the chips. When we were asked if the meal was ok it had only just arrived so none of us had discovered the above issues but we did tell the waitress who cleared but she just so oh right and left. Sadly dont think we will return which is a shame as the pub itself was lovely.

Nothing special. Just good pub grub. Just average steak. Couldn't see what the fuss is about. Am I missing something

Excellent service excellent food. A comfortable bar which accepts dogs. Just a great place to be after a decent walk.

Amazing service from behind the bar. Quiz nights last week was fantastic and Nikki and Lisa bounce off each other gets the drinks out really fast and makes the night interesting we love our nights there.
