Not often I’m blown away by a pub but The Plume of feathers did just that. My pie was exceptional, so was my dessert and the price was very reasonable. The guy who talk my order had a personality, a rare quality in staff today. Already looking forward to eating there again.

No fault to us. The rail crossing was broken down , and the barriers were down would not go up .so we had to find a new root to get to the pub . We phone them sorry we would be late sorry to say we was 30 mins late for our table . When we arrived we were told we had to eat at the bar . We were asked to pay first. The starter (The Plume Mezze) looked delicious, but "warm lavash" was stone cold.

My wife and I visited the Plume in mid February, booking in at 7.30. The food was very good as was the service and overall we had a most enjoyable evening. The night was marred however when the dessert menus arrived about 9.10. Whereas the other three members of our party have a sweet tooth I prefer to finish my meal off with an americano and perhaps a liquor. However, when I requested a coffee I was told that this was unavailable due to the coffee machine being turned off! Bearing in mind that there were several other tables still eating I find this a little strange to say the least. I have emailed The Plume twice for an explanation but am still waiting for a response. Surely the machine should be left on until the last guest leaves or volunteer to make an instant coffee to keep your customer happy. The lack of response from The Plume is most disappointing.

Went to the Plume for a family meal and while our order was being taken, we mentioned my partner had an oat allergy. The fine print on the menu said to look at our allergen chart for more details but we were never provided one. The waitress instead dashed to the kitchen to ask if my partners starter was free of oats/contamination. Her main was never checked for the same allergy. However as we stated the allergy before hand, we believed the food would come out allergy free. As my partner was half way through her main, she began to have a reaction! Luckily we had antihistamines with us but my partner remained uncomfortable nonetheless. We were also missing a scotch egg with our starter and our beer was flat. As this was a birthday meal, nobody wanted to make a scene and put a downer on the night. However I felt very disappointed after our visit to the plume.

Wow, never knew Neil Morrissey owned a pub till it popped up on facebook a few weeks ago! As a huge fan of Neil since Rocky in "Boon" and of course "Men behaving badly" etc I pretty much watch everything he does. So although it was a 90 minute drive away me and my husband booked a table for today Sat 15/02/25. What a fabulous place kitted out with NM memorobilia which I took lots of pics😁 fantastic food, super friendly staff and super cosy atmosphere, we were really impressed and will definatly be coming back. My only big dissappointment was Neil Morrissey wasnt there☹️☹️☹️☹️Lol.. I hope to return on a day when he is, I would love to meet him, think hes lovely❤️Would highly reccommend "The Plume of feathers"..you wont be disappointed..but maybe slightly if Neil isnt there lol

Beautiful pub with great food. I had the Cypriot halloumi fries (3 thick slices) to start which tasted delicious, even the salad did too which it came with. For the main, I had the oak smoked chicken & cider braised ham hock pie - one of the best pies I have ever eaten. The pastry was perfect and light. The pie was so full with filling it was definitely worth the money! The smoked cheddar mash was on top of the pie and the cabbage with the chicken velouté tasted lovely too. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée - this was delicious and a generous portion. The shortcake biscuit on the side was a nice accompaniment. I have only scored 4 stars for service as I had to wait for my dessert for a while whilst the rest of the table had theirs with no explanation. I had to ask a waitress (who I hadn't seen before) who looked clueless and then proceeded to carry on in & out of the kitchen without acknowledging what I had asked and then seemed to remember when she saw me looking at her. I heard her mention at the bar something about "was it put through on the till?" with still no one updating me with what had happened. This did seem quite unprofessional as I just felt ignored but my dessert did eventually come out. A member of my family was also charged £3 extra for katsu curry sauce that never came out with their meal but this was took off the bill when we mentioned it. Apart from this, the lady who took our orders at the table was lovely and friendly. The men who took us to our table, set it up and got us a child seat were also lovely and friendly. Overall, the food quality was amazing and I would definitely come back again to try some of the other dishes. There are toilet facilities which were clean. Car parking was free with plenty of spaces available. There is also an accessibility ramp to the main entrance.

Excellent. Refreshing change to find that vegetarian options are not the same prices as the meat options. Only small bugbear was the length of time it took for someone to attend to us once we arrived. We had booked a table but despite standing at the "please wait here to be seated" station, no one spoke to us for several minutes. We ended up asking at the bar. Although I acknowledge it was busy, it only takes a second for one of the staff to say someone will be with you soon...

Nice pub, dog friendly in the bar area, log fire. Restaurant room is big but less cosy. Food is decent earty food with a good choice ranging from snacks to steaks. I particularly like the Boatman's platter for lunch - and the onion rings are divine. Recently I had the duck burritos which were new to me on the menu. Large portion of nice food. I ordered a medium wine and it came in a huge glass which looked ridiculous, they didn't have smaller ones. All in all a good place to eat, lots of parking and opportunity to walk by the canal.

The young barman who greeted us is excellent and a asset to the business, extremely polite and his customer service is on point. We ordered food and drinks and I didn’t realise there was a vegetarian and non vegetarian poke bowl. I didn’t specify thinking it was just vegetarian. When it arrived with chicken I explained the situation and offered to pay for another meal. This was rectified at no additional cost. We love the Plume and visit for both food and sometimes just a drink. It’s a great place to cycle or kayak to in the summer being locate in the canal. I arrived to a very warm welcome and was shown to where the party would be seated, offered a drink and then they waited for the rest of the party to arrive. I came here on the 30th November and wow I was amazed . Starting of with the wide choice of ales and gins me and my husband were really impressed. We were served by Alfie and he always continued to make sure our drinks were full and had impeccable customer service skills, however he did look like the only person doing something as the rest of the staff were standing around chatting. We then spoke to a manager in a white t shirt because we complained about the noise coming from the bar area, once again he was extremely apologetic and very kind to us. I was a bit disappointed with the food as I was told they had ran out of the seafood linguine and the creme brûlée, but the standard of the food was nothing to complain about, big portions and very tasty! Thank you to the wonderful staff!

We were really looking forward to our visit having read reviews. We should have stayed at home. Positive large quantities. Negatives - arrived at 7 pm having booked a table for four. We all had starters, duck wrapped in oatcake and scotch egg, gave it 7/10. I ordered the seafood linguine special however was told they had sold out at 7pm? I opted for Katsu chicken as an alternative, daughter veg katsu. Both ok nothing special. Husband and son in law had steak awarded it 8/10. It seems only one person could take the drink orders and we had to ask repeatedly to order drinks as they kept forgetting to come back to take the order. Desert - three of us ordered crème brûlée however at 830 pm they only had one left? Pub is looking a bit tired could do with redecorating. The waiting staff were pleasant but all very young and were unable to expand with details of the drinks menu for example didn’t know what larger or cider they sold. Meal and drinks came just short of £200, sorry but we won’t be returning.

Fantastic food and service. The beef pie is incredible with the bubble and squeak and the slightly different crispy kale. Food was very good but portions too big for us. Made good take-home parcels though! 6 of us seated in a nice cosy intimate space. We had to ask to be served as we had waited a good while and no one had come to us. The one big complaint was the attitude of the staff who served us, one at the bar and 2 at the table. They were quite sullen and not one of them was smiling or welcoming. One came and just pushed between us saying "I'll just remove your starters cutlery" as we weren't using it. She could have said an 'excuse me' or 'do you mind' . The young lad who brought food out from the kitchen was fine but then the plates were just whisked away without a smile or any "chat" such as "I hope you all enjoyed your meal". I would have mentioned these points to the manager but it was the manager who served us!!!!!

Honestly one of the worst meals out I have ever had. Should’ve left immediately when the restaurant manager (green dress and blonde hair) completely ignored and refused to address us when another member of staff asked her if there was a table available. We ended up sitting in the bar area, which was still very nice. All the staff were so miserable and it genuinely made me feel uncomfortable eating there. The menu sounds amazing, but we found the meals to be extremely overpriced. My boyfriend had the duck leg burrito and you couldn’t taste any duck in there, I had seafood linguine and all it came with was prawns. The triple cooked chips most definitely are not triple cooked 🤣. At no point did any member of staff come and check on us and even when our plates were collected with some meals barely touched- no effort was made to check what was wrong. I recommended this place for a family meal because of all the great reviews. We spent a lot of money on average food and absolutely awful customer service.

We like canal holidays and always look for a friendly pub that does good food. That's the Plume of Feathers. The food was excellent, especially the Scotch Egg starter. We found the service to be fine. We went back again - you don't do that if you've been disappointed first time round. The only slight negative was the look of the place from outside. It's a bit '1970's estate pub'. Also, I really don't care who owns the business. Perhaps fewer mentions of Mr Morissey's name in the menu descriptions....??

One of the most enjoyable lunches we have had in a long time. Laila who looked after us was charm personified. Thank you. Bitter experience and a feeling of being 'had' has led us to be inclined to reject any restaurant that is endorsed by a celebrity, particularly a celebrity chef. We have a similar reaction any establishment with the tyre. A Michelin award in our experience been an overpriced, average experience. The You Tube channel 'Gary Eats' is increasingly our culinary Oracle. Gary rated The Plume of Feathers and he was spot on. Generous portions. The small plates looked like big plates to us. A small eater I just had a starter, Puducherry Scotch egg (following Gary's choices) and triple cooked chips with salad. Husband's choices were the starter of Gunpowder Sweet Chill Spiced Fish and small plate Lamb Kofta. Fantastic food, nice atmosphere, (apart from a chap who insisted on incessantly talking VERY LOUDLY, reading out every menu item - were we glad when his food arrived to keep him quiet!), calming decor and attentive service. Why plastering somebody's name all over the building, all the signs, the menu - even most of the dishes and various places on the walls adds anything for the rest of us I can't imagine Of the four meals of our party had one was very good one mediocre and two had poor elements. The advertised beer on the board on the wall and the bar that's excited wasn't available - one that had somebody's name in it may or may not have been. I guess lots of people must like it because we arrived at lunch time and there were no available tables until we had waited around for another 4 to depart. Lovely atmosphere at this pub and the chicken poke bowl with sweet potato fries was lovely! I do find the ‘Neil Morrisey’ proclamation in their branding a bit naff though…. Also they have a gin menu which describes how each gin should be served and with a specific garnish and when my husband ordered one of the gins for me, he had to ask for a garnish - and a slice of lemon was provided which wasn’t the recommended garnish for the gin. Service was patchy but friendly enough although tables were left uncleared and unwiped and the young man that wiped ours on request seemed never to have wiped a table before!
