The Horns in Stafford

Great old pub, hopefully the coming refit will give it new lease of life. A sign outside saying "no sky sports here" would increase customer numbers greatly. As most folks can't think of anything worse to spoil a good pub.

Beautifully cooked food, friendly service. I had seabass, my companion had the Kavita curry. Recommended!

We were a family of 12. Went here because people recommend the Horns. Sorry to say the food wasn't great, 2 members of the family had the fish and chips and the fish had a lot of bones in it not good when you are trying to enjoy your food, Other food was basic and more like home cooked some had a pudding and Couldn't eat it more like shop bought, and got a refund on the fish and pudding. The waiter kept coming for the plates, while some of us were still eating, should wait until everyone finished their food to collect the plates.. Other than that, the staff were friendly and said they were sorry about the fish and puddings. Sorry to say that the first time we had a meal here, so I don't think we will return.

A really good experience dining out close to our new home in Gnosall for an anniversary. The Horns exceeded our expectations with splendid sea bass and mussels. We had a quiet warm welcome from Huw who was very patient while we decided what to order. Desserts were OK but not as special as the mains.

A decent village pub good beer and food but no sky for the sports

great Sunday (roast) lunch with generous portions of meat and veggies! a perfect way to spend time with the whole family… nice ambience and great music (the best of 80s music) was played. The place is local to us and run by a friendly couple. definitely recommended!

We always love eating and drinking at The Horns. Lovely dog friendly restaurant and bar. Good ale and beers on offer and a healthy sized menu with great home cooked food. Lovely staff. This pub is also so quiet, which is both a blessing and a curse. The pub really deserves more customers who recognise the greatness of this place, but it also means if you go you might get it to yourself! Look forward to returning next week!

Surprisingly quiet on a Friday night with no one else eating in. Limited menu but the food was good. Will go again.

A typical village pub. Plain to look at the decor looks quite tired & dull, in my opinion this establishment was at one time quite a vibrant part of village life but sadly no more and has unfortunately very little to offer today's clientele. Poor selection of beers, irregular opening hours and a general lack of ambience make this establishment again, in my opinion 'one to dodge'.

A lovely pub just a short walk from the canal (about 15mins) but definitely worth it! The landlord was very welcoming and the food was great and very good value! Plus dogs are welcome which is a bonus :)

Ok place, food and drink, darts and doms

We came on a canal boat and rang up to check if doing food, they did and we had to be there by 745pm.... made it and the 4 meals we had was wonderful!!.. well priced, proper homemade and lovely service...... the cask ales are great too!... dog friendly too!

Nice food. Good value. Give it a go if you like traditional pub food.

having recently moved to the village, i came to the horns for a good meal on my landladies recommendation. i am glad I did. The barman was friendly and chatty, happy to accommodate me and my laptop/dog companian.the spaghetti bolognese was a huge plus, a massive portion! dead chuffed and really enjoyed it.thankyou so much!

Called in on spec for meal mid week. First visit to this pub and we will be back. Both meals were good and the liver and bacon was delicious. The service was spot on and we were made to feel very welcome

We arrived at the pub, and straight away the owner was being quite aggressive towards us with no valid motive behind his actions, he used very inappropriate language towards us and told us to leave purely because we had walked in before they were about to close!! I am absolutely disgusted in the way he spoke to us, it was shocking, we were respectful and left but he could of explained the situation to us rather then screaming and shouting! Vile owner, terrible service!

Like stepping back in time... We had Sunday lunch. It was huge and most delicious. The walks around the village followed by lunch and refreshments at this old pot house were an absolute delight! I visited The Horns with a friend last Friday and we both enjoyed a homecooked meal. I had the Chinese style chicken curry and it was absolutely delicious. The prices are very fair and I will certainly be visiting again soon. The pub itself is spotlessly clean and very traditional. The people who run it are warm and friendly. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

This pub has just reopened with new really friendly management and staff after being close for a few months. Felt really comfortable and welcome. At the moment it doesn’t do food just drink. Will definitely be going again.

No top shelf whiskey. Some of the local wildlife does taint the atmosphere and a rare sighting of a firey hot blonde adds to the excitement.

Booked for dinner with the family on the 11th September. Table was ready when we arrived and friendly waitress took drink order. They try and vary the menu here quite often and even have menu tasting evenings to get feedback on the grub. Really good landlords who take an active and supportive role in the community and do some great stuff on social media. Our meal that night was great, service was spot on and it was great value for money. No complaints on any previous visits either.

Fantastic homemade food staff brilliant

We regularly dine at The Horns. Food, staff and service have always been excellent. Owners are very hands-on and part of the local community.

Visited on a Saturday night with a friend to eat. Limited menu and the specials board was mostly vegetarian options or other items that were sold out. I asked the server what the 'pie of the day' was. She said it had been Rabbit, but that was now sold out. She offered a "Braised Beef" pie as an alternative, which I accepted. My friend opted for a burger. When the food arrived, what was on my plate was neither braised beef, nor a pie! It consisted of an oval bowl containing what looked like pre-cooked sliced roast beef (like you would get in a roast beef dinner), which had been cut into small pieces and thrown into a thin gravy with a few sliced carrots. This was topped with two small overcooked pastry discs. The whole thing was bland and tasteless (no seasoning) and in my mind at least, this could never be called a pie! However, my friend said he enjoyed his burger and as he was paying for the meal, I did not complain about my food at the time. Maybe it was the chef's night off, but even if it was, this is no excuse for serving up such bad food! I would definitely think twice before eating here again!

We come to the Horns on a fairly regular basis but tonight's meal was exceptional!

Taken to this Pub/restaurant by my son for Fathers Day/Grandson's birthday treat. The food was excellent and so was the service . Unfortunately my daughter in law's steak was a bit iffy but it was immediately changed and she was also given FOC another drink. My son and I both had a Thai Green Chicken Curry which was excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending this establishment to anyone who wants a meal at a reasonable price.

The Horns was where we had my husbands surprise 50th birthday party.

We went to the Horns when it first re-opened and found the menu a bit limiting and the food quite average so hadn't ventured there since. A colleague told us recently that it was great food there so we decided to give it another go last week. Menu still fairly traditional but an extensive specials board gave great variety. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and my husband's steak melted in the mouth.

Went with a group for afternoon tea with 15 others, price advertised was £12 something. Offering was poor, stale warm sandwiches, scones like dumplings and the only thing in abundance was shop bought quiche. Certainly nothing to write home about. When we came to pay we were charged for three people who didn’t come, nobody was made aware of this at the time of the booking and when queried we were told it was policy, guy was rude and don’t give two hoots he was ripping off a group of mostly regular customers for the sake of an extra few £’s disgusting in my opinion when the place wasn’t exactly fully booked, overstafferd or offering food to warrant the price. If I could give zero stars I could.

Worth the trip from stafford , excellent food and service, the lunch menu is a bargain and the specials board always has something different on , are new favourite place

Eaten here a few times, the food has been excellent with lots of choice. Lots going on in the pub on different nights and some good special offers. Looking forward to going again. Some good live music.

Friendly staff again as always. Specials board provides excellent choice. Food was of the very highest quality as always and great value (2 courses for £15). Excellent all round - best restaurant in Stafford for me.

Both my wife and I have eaten at The Horns many times now and never had anything other than a superb meal! Unlike the other local pubs/restaurants the food is always cooked fresh, to our requirements and served with a smile. We especially like the fact that they will swap around the menu items for us if asked nicely :-) It's also great value for money!

Food and service excellent, they need to work on the real ales. Televisions everywhere, there is even one in the restaurant. Suggest booking a table that is away from the screen.
