A smashing little (tiny!) cafe with good coffee and excellent cakes. Staff were very friendly and they obviously have a bunch of regulars that come back again and again. A super find! Sugar plum cake was yum!!

I’ve never been before but I wasn’t overly impressed we booked the 2:30 sitting when we arrived the tiny reception area was crambed until people were seated. There is an overwhelming smell of musty food the decor is dated tables are a mix mash of wood and plastic covered, cutlery is basic as are plates. Onto the main part the food, starter was lovely mushrooms on sour bread presentation could be better , main was a choice of beef turkey pork beef and gammon downsides was the only vegetarian option was sausage 36£ for sausage roast is a bit expensive vegetable options were mash potato, carrots, roast potatoes, cabbage no cauliflower cheese, parsnips etc Pudding was ok nothing special. Overall I was underwhelmed and have had better in better surroundings.

Great service from order to delivery. Exceptionally friendly and order taken accurately. Ordered for delivery so can either pay card or cash on delivery (no change carried) Driver slightly mislaid my house, but sensibly called to ask directions. Great food, all very tasty (starters and mains) and hot despite the expected delivery lead time.

We visited today as it’s our wedding anniversary. We got married at Draycote several years ago and thought it would be nice to revisit for afternoon tea to celebrate our anniversary. It was lovely being back there and it evoked happy memories. However, the service wasn’t good. The food itself was pretty good. We were the only ones in the restaurant yet not once did anyone come to ask if everything was ok or if we wanted anything. We had to go and find someone to ask for another drink. For our second cup of tea the milk provided had gone completely off. Leaving large bits of soured milk floating around in the cup. Mentioned this to the waitress and there barely an apology. Didn’t even offer to replace the drink. It was nice for us sentimentally to go back but I really wouldn’t recommend it for anyone else. I’d say go to one of the nicer places around here with a better ambience and better customer service.

Lovely setting and delicious food. The breakfast menu has lots of variety and options to pick from to suit different tastes. We will be returning in the future, especially as it’s only a stones throw away from the quantocks.

I would advise against going to this, not a child friendly place. I was in tears after my visit to the cafe today thanks to discriminatory behaviour from staff. I am toilet training my 2 year old currently and when he shows signs I have to be very quick getting him on the potty otherwise he will have an accident. I put him on the potty before going into the cafe however half way through our visit here I suddenly started showing signs, to get to the children’s toilet I would have needed to walk through the cafe (very long room) and down some flights of stairs and I knew by this time he would have wet himself and so to save spillage on the floor I discretely put him on the travel potty that I had in a corner, angling my body in front of him to hide this from view. He did a small wee in the potty with no odour and I immediately shut the potty which seals completely. However I was then told my staff there that there had been a complaint about this and that I should use the toilets downstairs. I was absolutely mortified and I felt like the worse mum ever. Should I have let my child wet himself and cause spillage on the floor? I’d needed to get out of the house for an hour for my own mental health but I left mortified. How can the cafe hold things aimed at toddlers and children and then not be supportive of mums? Disgusting.

Medium rare steak. Beige in the outside. Beige on the inside. Equivalent price of top steak restaurants in soho. We played football with it in the car park. Staff great, but can’t make up for vintage inns/mitchell and butler chain are doing

Although we did not stay there, we dined there every day during our stop at our lodge. Staff were very welcoming and always pleased to help. We ate there 5 times and every meal and snack were excellent. Sunday dinner and All day breakfast all cooked fresh. Would highly recommend this place especially with golf course attached to it. 10 out of 10.

We regularly visit this cafe as we walk round Draycote Water regularly for exercise. We usually call in for coffee and cake or a bowl of their lovely home made soup. (The scones, jam and cream are to die for). Today we had the 3 course Xmas lunch which we had booked a few weeks ago. They do several sittings in the run up to Xmas, some are carol concert dinners, others music from the musicals, jazz dinners etc. We had ham hock terrine, turkey with all the trimmings and black forest trifle (the latter was amazing, laced with Kirsch and full of cherries and chocolate) delicious! Service, as always was prompt and courteous. Can highly recommend this cafe all year round, the Xmas meal was excellent and great value too.
