Waterside in Rugby

Quite busy, which isn't a bad thing. At the time of booking, wheelchair access was requested, but it may have been overlooked. The staff resolved it by moving 2 tables to accommodate 8 guests. To be honest, it's a bit tight for 2 wheelchair users to move around, and there are steps to different levels, so the choices of eating areas are quite restricted. Food ordering is QR code and smart app. The carvery was simple and tasty, reasonably good choice of vegetables. Desserts were good, and the table service was fine. The accessibility for the toilet (singular) wasn't the best. The wheelchair had to be left in the hallway because there was no room for the chair and user to be in there at the same time. Pricing was about average. Might be a while before I go back, but I probably will at some point in the future.

Located by the canal, nice outdoor seating. Carvery is excellent value, relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff.

Lovely food, good prices, really lovely cheery staff. Lovely bright sunny room. The only thing that lets this down is carparking is very expensive £3.50 for two hours. It just rules it out as a nice place to pop for coffee and cake as just makes it an expensive visit. I just want to bring older relatives for coffee and not walk! It was very quiet when we came in and I wonder if the car park charges are the reason?

Me and my wife had the £7 Sunday Carvery, what, a complete letdown, everything on the plate was tasteless, the vegetables were under cooked. The Potatoes. were not fresh. The stuffing tasted dry, and the meat was cold. Can not describe the taste of the gravy because it is not something i have tasted before. Well. as the saying goes. you get what you pay for when you use cheap frozen food. Horrible after taste. Willl not be going back. The beginning of the end ? Should have read the feedback before going.

Wonderful carvery again. Staff were really lovely tonight going above & beyond.. roast spubd were as awesome as usual.. we will be back..

Found finger nails im my daughters drink amd straw. TWICE! No refund was offered and still paid full price for the meal.

Very reasonable price for a carvery, selection of vegetables was good although some were mediocre, only two meats were out and we kept asking for the gammon but after quite a wait we gave up, the turkey was good the beef not so. Overall well worth the money but could be better with a bit of attention here and there. Popular and busy on a Saturday 2pm

My great grandsons burger was raw he already ate half then didnt bring his food back out for at least 45 minutes , also another lady said here pie was frozen in the middle ( great grandson noticed it being raw in middle ) slight coincidence. If my great grandson gets food poisoning then we will be filing a complaint . Also my partners roast dinner was cold also great grandsons mums roast dinner was cold (Other times this place has been really good but we always book a table at around 4 but today we came at 6 so do not come later on ) .

I took ten of my friends to eat at 8pm the food was fresh, service was excellent and prices were very good, will return!

We don’t go out very often but decided to go for an impromptu meal for a change. We’re so disappointed with our meal. It was cold and greasy. The chips were old and cold. It looked insipid and unappetising. It was only 7:30pm. Very very disappointing… shame but we will not visit again. The apple pie for pudding was slightly better but again plated in a very slapdash way. Hey ho…

The overall feelings of this venue is excellent, the staff can't do enough for you. The Food is excellent and at a fair price. Therefore I would not hesitate to recommend this venue to everyone. Chris Reeve

Called in for a carvery as it was offered for £7. I had the beef which was tender and succulent. Excellent value for money! Will be back for more.

Visited Friday 13/09/24, had a great time. Have to highlight the customer service provided by Tristan ! Definitely will be returning.

The staff were were very polite and friendly. The view of the water was nice. The food was very poor. It was presented really nice but then when I started to eat I discovered- I had a grilled chicken breast burger what came with chips , coleslaw , a few lettuce leaves and onion rings. The chips were the chunky ones. They were so so dry. The chicken breast was so overcooked and like it had been nuked to death. It still had they white slime on it. I had to put coleslaw on the batch or it would have been too dry to eat. The onion rings, 2 of them were had onion skin in them not rings of onion. The bacon was nice. The cheese was a no show Coleslaw was okay. I had a flat white coffee that was really nice. Overall very overpriced for poor food.

Didn't eat. I just went to the car show in the car park, got served quickly when I went for a drink.

Nice pub offering both a la cart dinner and carvery (buffet with several roasts of meat). Friendly staff. It can be a bit busy, so making a reservation is advised. Lies next to the canal

If you want poor food, service and lack of management this is perfect for you. I did complain but the voucher was an insult. Like to blame staff rather than look into internal process. Waited almost 2 hours for food, and made a booking so wasn't a surprise group visit.

Waited over an hour for food, busy but well below capacity. Food order was missed I think, but they said was being plated. Out of 5 orders, 2 were wrong, one didn't turn up. Seeing the state of the kitchen floor through the serving door would definitely say give this place a miss. Supervisor tried to help with some free drinks, which was a start, but won't be back.

The most amazing carvery I have ever been too! Everything cooked to perfection, the roast potatoes are to die for! Great selection of vegetables. Great portion size! 100% recommend. I found this place by chance and have been back again since. Friendly staff. Quick service. Lovely views of the canal with outside seating and play park for little ones. Dogs also welcome! Edit: 3rd visit today on bank holiday Monday. Food is still amazing!

Food was not as good this visit. Roast potatoes hard to crispy had to ask for others.Meat stingy cut thin.

Carvery ran out of turky and beef leaving only gammon that was salty. Waiting over 1 hour from ordering food off the menue. Told they were busy but it was almost empty. Waitwd almost 10minits at the carvery counter for smeone to turn up and serve

5 of us including a young baby came last week and our dog and it was very busy but luckily I’d booked a table. Because the queue for carvery was huge me and hubby opted for something off the menu and our kids (grown up) had carvery and must admit I immediately regretted not having one as it looked delicious and they said it was although our gammon was nice. Prices are great , cheaper than most other places and they even provide dog treats which is a lovely touch 🐶 . Will definitely visit again and have the carvery 😊

Very disappointed with size of the meat portion for the standard carvery today. One extremely thin slice of turkey and another of beef. My partner had gammon as well but didn’t fare any better. It was a child’s portion and not up to the standard we have had on previous visits.

This the 2nd time I have stayed and worked in the area. The staff are all friendly, open and very helpful. The food is also really good. I ate here several times..

This place has been hit or miss. But today the food was fast and we were checked on every so often! Amazing.

We had really lovely carvery with all the trimmings and unusually for a carvery mashed potato and boiled potatoes as well as roasties.... The homemade Yorkshire pudding is really nice... We shared a couple of the desserts between us. The chocolate and toffee bar and sundae desserts were really nice!

Came here for a roast dinner booked in advance got there and seen food but they refused to serve us as there was “none left” There was nothing on the website stating first come first serve or a time the carvery wouldn’t be serving!!! I travelled some distance to come here. Won’t be coming again!

Food and service was fantastic. Great little pub. My only issue was the play area was slowly falling to bits and could do with a revamp.

If I could I would leave a 0 star review. Were told on arrival that there was a wait on food however we only order the 3 starter deal and waited an hour for them to arrive. I did complain after 30mins and they said it would be the next order only to wait another half hour and the food was lukewarm at best but we didn’t complain as we didn’t want to wait any longer and only when I complained we waited so long were we offered either a free drink or dessert and not even a refund of any kind. And we’ve had to go to McDonald’s to get food as we’re going to have mains but not after that wait and will not be coming back for a long time

I love this restaurant, the view is beautiful out over Draycote Water and the staff are amazing! I have visited here many times and never once been disappointed with either the food or service. The staff that work here have always been so attentive and helpful. My little one has a dairy allergy and their menu caters well for this... even offering vegan cheese. They also have a handy takeaway counter which does some food and has ice cream too (and duck food). A great, family-friendly place to eat, or grab a coffee before or after a walk/cycle around Draycote.

Lovely carvery although was surprised that potatoes were luke warm despite arriving g when they just opened.

Nice pub under the Green King umbrella. Good choice of food at reasonable prices. Quick service. Venue was clean along with toilets . Nice setting by canal.

This place used to be much better with good service and food. I went today and the service, while okay at first, wasn’t very good. No one came to check on the table, there were missing items (paid extras) from the order, the steak was not cooked as requested, the cheese sauce was almost solid, the chicken breast felt microwaved, cold and mushy, the burger buns were stale and hard, the burger meat was rubbery with no flavour, the onion rings also tasted microwaved and raw. The drinks were okay although a bit overpriced for soft drinks. Overall, this was not a good experience. Me and my family will not be returning. Ultimately I ended up getting food poisoning.

Excellent venue brilliant staff

Good pub, very nice location on the canal, but the service on the bar, while very friendly, is terribly slow. Beer selection is disappointing - half a dozen macro lagers all brewed by the same company and all taste the same. It would be so great to have more cask ales and craft beer on tap (Greene King’s own superb Level Head would fly out the door - wish this would come to Rugby!). Definitely a chance to switch things up in this area please!

We absolutely loved the waterside when we came yesterday. Special thanks to waiter Ollie and chef Alex for taking great care making my well done steak fondue. What lovely young men, they've done themselves proud

Best wings in town, chef Alex made our large order of wings and I don't think we can go anywhere else. Fried to absolute perfection and seasoned beautifully why would go anywhere else especially for the price. We love the waterside and all of the lovely staff. Will be coming back xo

We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Fully Loaded Chicken strips this evening. So we didnt order anything exotic. The food was ok however it took an hour and 5 minutes to arrive. Apparently due to the carvery being unavailable. Really poor service I'm afraid. We ordered dessert which came within 10 minutes.

It was so busy but still the staff were so attentive, so delightful ,friendly and welcoming,food was delicious.

The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing,my friend who came with me has allergies to certain foods and explained to the lady on the till what she can't eat, this was catered for and my friend was delighted,the only thing which needs to be done is to have a fruit salad for people that can't eat eggs.

4 of us went for Sunday carvery. Food was good. Plenty of it. Service was good with cheerful staff.

Sorry but the balcony looked it hadn't been cleaned in a long long time, can Severn Trent really not go the extra mile and clean at least monthly, spolis what is a beautiful setting and decent cup of coffee

Food is nice and hot when it comes out of the kitchen, drinks are poured perfectly. On Sundays it can get quite busy so i can always understand if the food and drinks take a bit of extra time to come out of the kitchen.

First time I've been here. The carvery looked amazing and very fresh..

Food was nice, however all the tables were dirty, we ended up having to remove the used cups and wiping it down so we can sit, we then ordered some drinks off the app which took about 15 mins to arrive although it was quiet.

Chloe and Anya were wonderful servers, very attentive and quick to clear our plates and offer hot drinks and desserts. Very polite and and friendly!

Nice place dog friendly with some dog treats and even some toys to occupy them with. Amazing carvery with a wide variety of veg to choose from, nice selection of meats aswell. Mixed grill was really nice as were the starters and deserts. Prices were very good value. Friendly welcoming staff. Will be going back for sure.

Very disappointing on Sunday 28th April. We arrived at 6 pm only to discover there was no roast meat whatsoever left. This was a surprise as the carvery is advertised as available until 8.30 pm. We understand that the restaurant may have been busy earlier but it’s really not acceptable to have absolutely no roast meat 2.5 hours before the end of service. The next disappointment was to wait 40 minutes to be served an inedible steak and ale pie. The pastry was far too hard to cut let alone chew. Extra gravy didn’t soften the pastry. There was very little meat in the pie but an excess of gravy. Cannot recommend this pie. Previously we have had a decent carvery at the Waterside. The staff are always pleasant.

Fab food excellent price friendly staff, can't ask for more.

Had to wait over an hour for our food to be served and then I believe it was because I had to go and ask at the bar where our food order was, staff were very pleasant but we personally will not be returning for another meal anytime soon .

went to the waterside on tuesday the 23rd, we ordered food at 6:55-7 we then had to change our order because someone broke a glass and it went all over food on carvery station (not an issue things happen) i then got charged a difference of £5.90 when it should of been £2.90.. when questioned about that was told sorry that’s what the difference is, partner went back to ask why the difference was so much and just got told sorry system messed up, drinks and starters took 30 minutes to arrive even after 3 time of going up and asking about our drinks by 8:10 we still didn’t receive our food.. after several attempts to ask how long and if the kids food could come as they were hungry and we would wait for ours, got ignored 5 times.. tables that arrived way after us were receiving their drinks and food and we were just left waiting… went up once again to ask and still was 25 mins away from receiving our food… staff were not helpful what so ever. Have been their before and always fast service friendly staff but this time it was a really unpleasant experience

Greene King need to look at their foods. Expensive and poor. The Mac and Cheese was so small it wouldn't fill up a 5 year old and was certainly not enough for an adult. It should have been under £5. Won't be going back to a Greene King Pub anytime soon.

Look at the reviews I didn’t know what to expect but the food was really good, nothing to complain about, happy with everything!

Easter Saturday was our first visit to the Restaurant. We did book a table and we were shown to it with a cheerful greeting and the menu. The Restaurant was extremely busy, but the food was served very quickly and the dishes met our expectations. The Staff, front of house and in the kitchen, are all to be congratulated on the quality of the food, the promptness of service, all done with courtesy and a smile. Also, very importantly, the Restaurant's tables were quickly cleared and wiped down, in readiness for the next visitors. Well done each and every one of you! Thank you very much.

Visited 8pm Friday evening, it was fairly quiet plenty of free tables just managed to catch the end of the carvery (closes at 8.30pm) carvery was good value for money and meats and choice of vegetables were good. Nice decor and pleasant staff Update: visit semi regular for a meal or just a quick drink, service and food is always good. Great location as well (by canal)

Been here loads of times, vegatables are always hard, Yorkshire puddings like cardboard... If your looking for somewhere with good food go somewhere else 👍

Don't order a pudding so small kiddies portions

Food was quite good and service was good however, there is currently a fly issue. Please get this sorted...it wasn't very pleasant being irritated by flys whilst trying to eat. Otherwise I would have given 4-5 stars. Sorry Update: - I did try to contact the venue as per their feedback but never got a response. Edited after trying to reach out to your comment a few times...seems that was just a bluff as you have never responded to my emails.

It was really bad… really really bad. Had to que up for over half an hour to get the roast.. the potatoes tasted old like re heated re cooked re fried whatever just like licking a church floor. Got a scrap of a Yorkshire. No gravy to go with gammon. Poor guy was basically alone doing the carvery so it took ages as you had kids serving themselves and fighting with their mum about what veg they’re not having. Food really was bad I’m so sorry but I’d love this place to be better because it’s on the doorstep! We didn’t book and that was fine but no seating so had to sit outside. No knife and fork once we got to the table. Food was cold by the time we had knife and fork. I couldn’t cut the meat I gave up and didn’t eat much at all. Cauliflower cheese was just cauliflower with cheese thrown at it and it tasted of metal. Worst meal I’ve ever had. I felt like I went out and some money fell out my pocket or someone robbed me. Really sad we had one day off this week and we went here.I’m even sadder to write such a review. Also the self service of drinks and keeping a table and queuing for food doesn’t work when there’s two of you, you have to que with your drinks because you have to pay for the carvery ticket and show it at the carvery.

Lovely pub. Frequently visit with my granddaughter, the staff are always so friendly with her. We always have the carvery and it's amazing. Aaron the carvery chef is so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend

For the price of the food, you can't complain. Previously it has been terrible but they really seem to have upped their game - food and service.
