After visiting the firepower tank show august bank holiday weekend in dunchurch. We visited for a few drinks pricey as most pubs are but the pints were all of good quality.

A good selection of food and drinks, the service was excellent.

We held a wake there and they provided the food. Sandwiches, some toasted, salad, 3 types of tasty thin crust pizza and chunky triple cooked chips, tea and coffee, all excellent and at a very reasonable price. Another wake 18 months on and the food was fabulous, plenty of tea and coffee on tap too.

Cannot comment on the rooms but in my experience the bar staff are always first class. It is well worth a visit if only to sample the cask Bass.

My wife and I sent a night here at the Dun Cow a beautiful old coaching inn, and was looked after by Page, this young lady was fantastic, nothing was to much trouble for her, the service that we received was second to none. Thank you so much

Brilliant service from Paige yesterday evening. She was so helpful and knowledgeable. We had a gorgeous meal and drinks and will definitely come back.

We all met for a lovely brunch. Everyone was sooo kind, with fabulous service. Particularly Paige and Emilie.

Arrived early Sunday evening no roast dinner certain items werent onthe menu, paid a ridiculous charge for roast potatoes and just chicken burger food was awful and overcharged at about £15.

My waitress was fantastic, I have a dairy intolerance and it seemed no problem for her to ask for my meal to be altered. Sadly the chef sent the wrong steak (sirloin not rib eye) The sirloin was very tough from not hanging long enough. My waitress credited the incorrect steak. It was a shame.

Today 17/08/2024 I went to this place with my wife to have dinner. BUT ended up to have the worst ever experienced with the stuff and food and lies. We there at 7.05 ev. To have dinner. At 7.10 we order for me sirloin steak and margarita pizza for my wife pizza. ( and order calamari) an bottle wine. ( paid cas 72.65£ .) We waiting 1 hour +10 minutes for food at I ask 3 stuff where is my order dinner they keep telling is coming up. Finally the food came 8 25. My steak was so terrible cook and the pizza was very bad When Finally we try to describe the problems one staff ( hosts or assistant manager!!!) the girl spoke very badly to us Like take or leave it. If don't like we tuff. Then I ask for manager hi came out and hi tell me my order was delayed because the waiting fot pizza 🍕. And walk away nothing else. .and more...

The food was really good and delicious, definitely worth the wait and the waitress, Mollie, was really kind and accommodating! We will definitely come back!

Went in on Friday for a meal, hardly anything left on the menu. Opted for just fish and chips and drinks, goodness knows what the chef was doing but took a whole hour for the food to come out. Didn't bother with a dessert it was pointless. Been here before for Sunday roast dinner and it was fabulous that's why we returned, not sure if there was a lack of staff in the kitchen. But I would be very dubious in returning unless it was on a Sunday.

Would definitely recommend and will definitely stay here again. Very reasonably priced, lovely big rooms and bathroom. The only comment I'd make is that it would be great if there was a towel rail directly next to the sink. Would definitely recommend booking a table of you want to eat on the restaurant as it's clearly popular and got very busy during our stay. The food was lovely, very filling. Breakfast was good too, poached eggs could have had a another minute, but that's me being fussy. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and polite.

It has been more than 10 years since I last visited The Dun Cow and I’ve been twice in the last 2 weeks! It did not disappoint. The staff were really friendly and efficient. The food was great too. I had the hunters chicken and the fish & chips - both were delicious! Will be back soon I’m sure. Highly recommend!

Had Sunday lunch , food was nice, it took a little while to arrive but overall I was pleased apart from pudding which could have been better.

I don't leave many reviews but I had to mention the service we received from Lisa - as two mums with young babies we received such a warm reception. Nothing was too much trouble - thank you, we will come back!

4/24 Another visit with the same friend as last time. Again we had the fixed price lunch - still good value at 16.50 for two courses. I had the salt & pepper calamari to start - which were tender and tasty and a very generous portion. I had the steak frites for main - a very nice steak with a generous helping of garlic butter. He had the arancini to start followed by the lasagne, which was available this time! We both enjoyed both our courses and the service was also very good. Seems overall more consistent than it used to be. Visited 11/22 for lunch with an old friend. We both had the fixed price lunch at £14.99 for 2 courses, which was good value. Our starters and main courses were all good. Only disappointment was that my friend wanted the lasagne but this wasn't available. As there is a limited choice of mains on the FP menu, a replacement option could/should have been offered. Very busy as ever. Been many times and always a great ambience, but food is often just OK. Nice pint of Timothy Taylor. Staff very friendly and efficient. Had a family meal there February 22. Again food was just OK, but two people had lamb rack which was effectively just two chops and was ridiculously overpriced at over £20!

We came for a late afternoon lunch and we were definitely not disappointed. The service was amazing and Emily made sure we happy with everything and nothing was too much trouble. 👍👍👍

Ordered a lasagne and chips, when it arrived was cold in the middle. The server Natasha was amazing, so apologetic took it straight back to the kitchen. Natasha brought the lasagne back apologising again but it seemed to be microwaved to an inch of its life. Pasta was like rubber. Service great, food awful

Very good experience. Food was really good. Worth for the money you pay. Good parking space as well.

Really disappointing, we were put right at the back of the pub so were ignored the entire time. Food took ages and was of a poor standard for the price, we complained and all they did was apologise didn’t offer anything else or for a refund. We were then left sat with our plates so paid at the bar. It was a special occasion which we stated on the booking - won’t be coming back!

Sunday 9th June visited….lunch..4 x Starters, 4 x Roast dinners (2 x Beef, 1 x Pork, 1 x Trio of meat) The starters were lovely (calamari and Camembert) however The mains came out (and looked great) but the parsnips, potatoes and broccoli were all hard and not cooked properly. The potatoes looked like peeled new potatoes and were not cooked, crispy or looked to have been roasted…..they needed at least another 35+ mins in the oven. Trio of meat was disappointing with the amount of meat on the plate, the stuffing also needs a lot to be desired…not roasted just paxo and water…no sausage meat added and tasted ‘raw’ 4 people…none of us ate any potatoes, veg, stuffing or parsnips….just the meat and Yorkshire puds. We did complain and got the two mini puddings free…..The other standard menu meals looked nice, I would not recommend or return for a Sunday roast dinner.

Generally, service and food quality is acceptable. However, there were some occasions that the food was horrible and we left without being able to eat.

Recently had our first experience at The Dun Cow in Rugby, and it was fantastic! The food was not only tasty but also presented beautifully. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making the whole experience even better. The interior of the restaurant had a cozy countryside pub atmosphere, adding to the charm. We left feeling satisfied and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

No photos, unfortunately! I was far too busy eating the beautiful and well presented food. I had the beef and red wine homemade pie of the day served with creamy mash and seasonal veg. Has to be one of the best pies I've ever eaten! Followed by the mini chocolate brownie with honeycomb ice cream and a coffee. Lovely country pub and good service. Well done!

Very friendly staff, great housekeeping, excellent food...good FREE Wi-Fi & free car park. Stayed for two nights, loved the history of the building which dates back to the 1550's.. Will definitely return here.

The service was excellent and the selection of both starters and main courses was very good. The food was well prepared and cooked to a high standard. All in all a pleasant visit to this charming old establishment.

I travel to Rugby every month and have stayed in every £100 a night hotel around. This is by far the best in terms of friendly staff, room, food, and draught beer choice. Parking here is good too.

Didn't stay but had food here and it was absolutely delicious in an amazing setting.

Seriously upset with the management service. I booked a buffet reception for 17 people and on 3 separate visits insisted the booking was conditional on having a particular room as the alternative was not going to be suitable. On arrival with my guests, I was told that my booked room had been given to others that morning. It was a case of take it or leave it. The alternative room was so small that only 3 tiny tables were available, and several of my guests had to eat off their lap with paper plates. The dynamics of the room did not allow for mixing and it was not conducive for an enjoyable and memorable event. No real apology was given. Including a very generous tip, (which was for the staff), plus the usual 10% surcharge, the total bill was over £650. The lesson is make sure you get your booking details in writing.

Loved the food, there wasn’t a big wait between ordering & receiving the food, and George (Zsolt), our server, was amazing.

Sunday lunch was lovely and the gravy was divine but the side order of cauliflower cheese was dry and unpleasant. Service was good.

Poor service. Entered an empty restaurant, another person awaiting staff presence also, yet no apology for the wait. Staff didn't seem happy to be there, didn't seem overly friendly. The food was overpriced considering it was just mediocre and not 100% accurate as the full English was advertised as having vine cherry tomatoes but we had a bog standard tasteless tomatoe. I will admit, the presentation was good but the taste was not on par. The coffees are meant to be served with a small flapjack bite however it was not. No check backs on food to see if satisfactory and despite being there a fairly lengthy time, no-one asked weather any more beverages were required. It's rather hard not to feel prejudged when first seated because despite dealing with 2 different members of staff, neither were particularly inviting and once departing the restaurant, it seemed every other visiter was seated at the other side of the restaurant, i couldn't help but wonder if they all received the same poor level of service.... very disappointing.

Took my girlfriend here for a birthday meal with friends. And completely forgot to bring birthday candles for the cake. A staff member called Michelle kindly went out and grabbed some for me so I didn't have to leave myself, what a star!!! I can't thank her enough. We all had a Sunday lunch which was lovely and great service will 100% return again

Joined friends for a meal in the week. Long delays in service and the food we had wasn't brilliant. Shame there isn't a consistent level of quality. The venue has a lot of potential it's just very inconsistent.

I enjoyed the dinner at the Dun Cow. The atmosphere was good too. I would go again to try a different dish. Felt that the portion sizes were a little small for the cost.

The Zesty sauce in chicken salad was not edible. Chicken very dry and too much vinegar (or something similar to it).

Came here for dinner with colleagues food was good, really pleasant vibe. Colleague has dietary requirements Neve was really knowledgeable and attentive super friendly.

Came her with some friends and the atmosphere and food was great. The waiting staff (Neve) were great and attentive, we will definitely come again.

Neve was our server and I was very impressed by her attention to my gluten free allergy and making sure I had what I needed and I clearly understood my options. I was very impressed and appreciative of her service.
