Went to the Whitestone for Steak Night and ordered meals. Both myself and husband had rump steak. As soon as the meals arrived we instantly knew that the steak which had been served was NOT from Frank Parker's! I could not cut the steak it was so tough and, when I did eventually cut a piece, it was gristly and stringy. Absolutely awful. If its a matter of price I am sure that most people would not mind paying a little extra if they know that they are getting good quality food. I was not charged for my meal but my husband was as he had eaten his steak!!!! I understand that the owners are to go back to ordering from Mr Parker's (not sure how true this is). We will go back to the Whitestone but not for the next 6-8 weeks and then upon booking a table there will be a question as to whose meat is being used. We need to support the Whitestone as it is a nice pub to use and very often we call in if we have been for a walk.

Food was so tasty, well presented. We liked the way they took our starter order first, allowed us to enjoy that, before taking our main order, never come across this before, most usually take orders in one go, and then it is rushed, appreciate the time given to relax and enjoy each dish.

I have been an irregular but long-term customer of this restaurant but have decided to desist from giving my custom to this business in the future. I have used both take-away and table services during the period since this restaurant opened. The business is an undoubted success, food (apart from the experience I'm outlining) is extremely good. That success may have had an impact on the dealings that I had with the female member of staff , that I outline below. The cause of my dissatisfaction is as follows: I ordered a take-away via the zaynesindiancuisine.com website and was advised meal would be 40 minutes for collection or 70 minutes for delivery. I elected to collect and duly arrived at premises some 40 minutes later. Upon arrival identified myself to female behind counter. My order was identified and she took “paperwork” into kitchen area. I then was left waiting in restaurant for another 40 minutes until meal was offered to me by member of the waiting staff. I asked to speak to female and advised my dissatisfaction with delay and apparent discrepancy with website notification plus the fact that I would not place any future business with the restaurant. Female staff member offered the comment that restaurant had opened late, hence delay, but I responded that this was matter for the business owners to address and website should be better coordinated. This prompted a further explanation that a road traffic accident on, presumably owners route, from Birmingham had been cause of late opening along with a dismissive comment that my future business was a decision that reflected “each to their own opinion” before female turned her back on me and walked away. I found that latter act on her part somewhat arrogant and possibly a reflection that Zaynes is sufficiently successful to dismiss the poor experience of a single customer (although I'm sure that wasn't the case that night as I had in my 40 minute wait observed at least one customer depart as they had been seated awaiting service for a prolonged time). After getting meal home discovered it was only lukewarm and the food was not to the standard expected (have eaten here many times). Not happy with all of this and do not believe food was what I paid for. If anyone from Zaynes has has any thoughts on recompense for this situation I would be pleased to hear from them (takeaway booking reference is #5943812). One final thought - all businesses encounter day-to-day difficulties - how you deal with them is what differentiates the good from the bad.

It has been a delight to return to this gem, following past years of regular working dinners. I can take my time, devouring dishes that are unobtainable elsewhere. Good cooked treats like today's liver & bacon with veg. Beautiful. An hour later, I went back for my apricot crumble with custard pudding. Five hours on, I can feel the iron in my body. That's just how good it is. Today, could have been fifteen years ago. Thank you, Masons.
