Very poor experience, got sat upstairs, after ordering swiftly the staff forgot to bring the wine, and tbh they were not really interested, ordered the prawn linguine, at best it was average, poorly presented, possibly “slop” is a good description. Had similar experiences before but gave it another go, this time was the last however.

The George is a place of great historical interest, a classic coaching Inn with the archway to the coachyard can still be seen. It still has a cosy, comfortable feel in the bar area particularly which was busy when we went there. It is renowned for holding events from weddings to meetings and lectures and works hard to maintain a successful business. The dining room wraps around the side of the hotel and it offers a Carvery was a consistent feature. We opted for the a la carte but liver was off the menu so carvery was the answer. Following a generous portion of pate starter we went for the Carvery. The Turkey was soft and tasty, equally the beef not overdone or dry. The Yorkshire was fine and the gravy tasty. My colleague had a fish from the carvey but which was prepared freshly. Service was friendly and informal.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Bengal, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with beautiful decor that set the perfect mood. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, catering to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences. I started with the Prawn Puri , which were perfectly cooked and beautiful flavours. For my main course, I opted for the Honey Chilli Chicken, and it was absolutely divine. The chicken was tender and succulent, and the spicy honey based sauce was rich and aromatic with not too much spice so you could still truly taste the flavours. My father ordered the Bengal 42, which was equally impressive, with tender pieces of lamb, chicken tikka, keema and king prawns. It is safe to say it had everything he wanted and more The service was outstanding. Our server Imran was attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to offer recommendations. The staff made sure we felt welcomed and comfortable throughout our meal. Overall, The Bengal Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic and delicious Indian cuisine. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to return!

Extremely affordable spot for a quick lunch, Billie the spaniel was our highlight, but the food was delicious and a fantastic atmosphere (weird and wonderful decor and some great music). The staff were very helpful and friendly. Very accommodating for vegan and gluten free options which we love. I had the vegan breakfast, which they serve all day, and my partner had a huge omelette. Would definitely recommend and return if we have the chance.

Nipped in today and wish I hadn't. Staff were surly and indifferent. We had to clear a table ourselves. Ordered two teas and and a cheese salad sandwich. Then had to wait 15 minutes for them to arrive. Tea was really nice but the sandwich was dry and served on a slate! All in all a pretty dissapointing experience.

Disappointing first visit, on arrival we asked if we could add 3 to our bottomless group, rather than speaking directly to us the chef/manager? shouted at her staff in a passive aggressive manner telling them how adding 3 was impossible and what had they all been told, so so rude and unprofessional, steak was inedible, drinks were weak and anything decent was an extra £10 on top of the £40 each we had paid. So loud in there you have to shout to have a conversation. On leaving the manager shouted to her staff “bottomless group leaving have they all paid” so so unprofessional, we had paid the bill that was wrong by £80 . Poor poor poor , two ladies serving were fantastic and really hard working , manager / cook ?whatever she is was shamefull.

I went to this restaurant with my friend and the food was really good, I'm not writing this review to complain about the food! While I was in the restaurant 4 middle aged gentlemen ordered food, they were sitting across from us. After waiting a while one of the gentlemen went up to one of the waiting on staff to ask how long their food would be. The manager /owner came to their table and asked them to leave the restaurant saying they had been aggressive, they were anything but aggressive, so the gentlemen got up from their table and started to leave,as they were leaving I heard the manager /owner threatening them with violence saying he would do them harm if they didn't leave. If I was those gentleman I would report his behaviour to the police. To summarise a very pleasant evening spoilt by the behaviour of the manager /owner. I will not be returning to this restaurant after witnessing the behaviour of the manager /owner.
