Excellent food-a menu that stands out from the crowd! Would recommend the lamb chops starter but honestly every dish that was served was delicious. Service good.

A small yet well planned restaurant with an excellent range of Bangladeshi inspired dishes. The presentation is excellent and the specials quite remarkable. Service is bright and efficient - an altogether delightful experience.

Tried to book on day for 8 Saturday early evening.No response to email. Called in person Wednesday.Staff located my email booking.But,none of the 3 staff on site could take my booking.Apparently the big cheese wasn’t around to take my booking. Told them to forget it,as well book the Qmin.

Service, food and ambiance really lovely. We had a brilliant meal. Not greasy, hot and well presented. The lovely young man who was our waiter was well informed with the menu and so helpful.

Although my starter and main course were widely varied, the flavour of both dishes was completely overpowered by the taste of salt. There was nothing about the dining experience that would make me return.

The prawns were very overcooked both on starter and main course; they were like rubber bullets - revolting. I mentioned this to the wait staff both during the starter and when the main course was served, they could not have cared less. Poor response to a customer complaint; no offer of another dish or any resolution to an inedible meal. Very disappointing as it is a lovely restaurant with nice menu and ambience; shame the prawns were so awful. The other food items, monkish, and vegetarian thali we had were fine.

First time visiting here and found it to be excellent, service, atmosphere & food exceptional will definitely re visit

Really looked forward to our evening last Saturday. However, totally ruined by four screaming, shrieking middle aged women. More shocking because it wasnt even 7 o'clock. They were all completely drunk. Every table stopped talking and jumped at each shout and scream. I did go to the bar to ask the staff to have word. My complaint was noted but no one went near them. As much as we love the food here we wouldnt consider returning. Just too noisy in that cramped space and low celings. Nothing to absorb the noise of drunks.

Really enjoyed the meal this evening, I was served by Aidan who was very professional and a credit to the restaurant, the meal was very tasty and will definitely be back.

In an upstairs location an absolute gem of Indian cuisine with some extraordinary specialities. This is refined Bangladesh dining and deserves credit for its adventure with ingredients and spicing. Unpretentious service gave way to impressive a flavoursome dishes involving scallops, monkfish and Lamb shank. I hope it continues its excellence.

As a business we wanted to try a new local Indian restaurant to host our monthly curry night. I tried to book over the phone but they refused and said it had to be done online, which I did. I called the day before our visit to confirm my reservation to be told they would not honour it as no deposit was paid. Apparently they'd tried to call me twice for a deposit but I received no calls, nor any voicemails. The manager was utterly disgusting, disrespectful and vile in the way he spoke to me - I have never in my life been spoken to aggressively or rudely. He cared little for our business and it was evident he doesn't care about customers at all. After ending the call he called me back screaming down the phone and then adding "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" which was utterly laughable. This man thinks he is something very important and clearly has no respect for women or new customers. Perhaps he forgets he is not a Michelin starred restaurant and that its just a little building in the back streets of Lichfield. I will never step foot in this establishment and wont be recommending it either. Its evident this manager has little care or respect for anyone and I guess he clearly doesn't want or need the business. There are many other lovely Indian restaurants in Lichfield who I'm sure would welcome us.

Now reopened and beautifully fitted out. Food is as excellent as ever with the same amazing staff friendliness

I went to Nowka on Saturday with my family the 4 of us. We have been twice before and had a lovely time and everyone has been friendly and attentive. This time we were not happy with one of dishes we ordered which we havent ordered before. We ordered the Chilli Chana Paneer, a main dish. The fact that its called CHILLI chana paneer we thought it would have more chillis than other dishes as it says it in the name. When it came it had no taste what so ever. Thete were no chillies at all, no salt and no other flavours it was so bland we couldnt eat it. We complained to the waiter that thete was no seasoning or chillies in it at all. He said we keep the chillies very low so why call it chilli chana paneer as there were no chillies at all in it. No salt. He wasnt interested to hear what we were saying and told us 'No one else has complained about this dish before'. He didnt offer us an extra chillies or offer to replace it or make it again. He just walked of and wasnt bothered. We left the dish as it tasted awful with no flavour. We asked for them to remove the dish from the bill since we didnt eat it but they said they cant do that. So we paid bill and told him we wouldnt be coming here again and he wasnt bothered at all. I have never been to a restsurant where they have refused to take dish of bill if we havent been happy and left it. To make us feel like what we said didnt matter and ignore our feedback and not offer any solutions. How can you go back to a place like that. Utterly disgusting customer service. They cant deal with complaints and it serms to be a pattern as many other reviews ive read here hsve been treated same way. It wasnt even so much about the food as it was only 1 dish we didnt like but we were more upsett at how they spoke to us and treated us. Dont waste your time or money going here where they treat you like this if theres a problem. We will never go there again !!

We visited here for dinner with friends. It's located just off a main street and up some stairs, so you wouldn't know it was here if you wasn’t looking for it. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Food was really good. I had the Ta’Wa 71 Grill (Consists of fillets of chicken tikka, tandoori murgh, classic IV lamb chop, buffalo wings, lamb samosa, sheek kebabs and onion bhaajis. Naan bread included) which cost £24.95 I'd say it's a bit on the expensive side for what it was as our usually restaurant serves the same at half the price and is very good from there. Overall food was good, but i can get the same if not better elsewhere at a lot less money.

The food is incredible, always has been, however, we waited 1hr and 15 minutes for our starter which had been forgotten about, even if it had, that’s still 1hr and 15 minutes for the main course after poppadoms, not good enough, the saving grace is the flavour of the food, it’s amazing, and we’ve always loved this place, please be more aware of your customers and waiting times.

We had visited this place a while ago, food was decent and we were looked after. It was why we booked to go again. We all travelled in to lichfield to meet up, had a few drinks around the corner and arrived happy enough. Turned up at 9pm as we had reserved, we and had paid the £60 online deposit for the 6 of us, then told we hadn’t got a reservation, the young guy who I guess was the manager was shown our reservation email, he sat us down so he could do his checking, finally he came back and said ‘no, nothing booked, but I can give you a table, but won’t be refunding £60’. Fair enough, time to leave and go somewhere a bit more on the ball. I shook his hand and said ‘you owe me 60 quid’ then we left. A phone call made the next day, same guy told us to come in Wednesday and bring the proof of payment…..really? in todays day and age? A simple ‘what was the name and I’ll check and get back to you to refund’ would have done it. That managers title does play tricks with some though doesn’t it? Anyway, I finished work and drove the 15 miles in to see the manager, he looked at my phone and and straight away gave me the £60 back. Now the awkward bit, I asked him how they operated, in front of his younger staff, some guff about 72 hours… I told him we had travelled some distance and that he was out of order treating people that way, then left. Nice while it lasted but it’s a no from me. Manners cost nothing.

Seriously good Bangladeshi food in Lichfield, well presented with great service. First visit , but will definitely be back soon.

I went with my family for Birthday meal. The restaurant was nicely laid out, however, the evening was let down by the food. When the food arrived two of the dishes were warm, to say the least so much so that my daughter could not eat hers as we it as it went cold quickly. The service or lack of it during the meal appeared to be somewhat lacking. So much so that no one came to see if we were ok. At the end of the meal the manager/owner came to the table and we showed him the uneaten meal, and he appeared to be uninterested in taking any action re this meal. We paid the bill but we will not be returning to this restaurant.

2nd time visiting this place and had to review as it’s a hidden gem. From the outside it’s easy to walk past - but it’s far better than your average Indian/Bangladeshi type restaurant, a lot of care goes into the presentation of the meals. Great atmosphere and service is excellent. 8 of us including 2 kids and everyone really enjoyed their food. One person in our party declared the chicken shashlik was the best he had ever tried. Also have to mention the staff were really good with the kids, very patient. We will definitely be back again soon, and might try a takeaway in the meantime!

Good good but it's small so the atmosphere just doesn't get going

Great service and atmosphere. The waiters were really helpful when choosing from the menu and the food was good. The only criticisms I have is that you have to pay £2.95 for lime pickle with your popadoms and you get the tiniest bowl with the equivalent of a tablespoon, which is not good value for money at all. I also found my curry wasn’t spicy enough for my tastes so asked for 1 or 2 extra chillies for my dish. They brought out a small bowl with way more chillies than I needed then charged me for them! As I was with family for an evening out, I didn’t mention it as I wanted to focus on having a good time but that was disappointing.

Went there from recommendations, so first time dining there. I chose the Chicken Tikka Starter, very very tasty, then had the Lamb Bhuna, combined with Mushroom pilau rice and garlic naan, absolutely hand on heart the best Indian I’ve ever tasted. Service and staff were absolutely faultless, very polite, courteous and helpful Can’t fault my experience at all and will be back for sure

Customer service is really bad!

Lichfield’s best kept secret. Only realised it was there by a chance meeting with the owner and thought we’d give it a try. From the moment you walk in you’re welcomed by the team and looked after. This continued through to the food which was equally as impressive all in the surrounds of a modern dining setting. Even the background music was great. Easy to see why the owners don’t advertise or shout from the rooftops. They have a client base that just keeps coming back. Looking forward to working our way through the menu over the coming months.

Left feeling a little disappointed. They were understaffed so they were trying their best which was great. However... They have currys with spinach in, but when I asked for spinach to be added to another dish from the menu, "chef said no". They have naan bread with corriander on and naan bread with garlic on. When I asked for a garlic and corriander naan, "chef said no". The reluctance to cater for very basic variations on the printed menu was underwhelming to say the least. Food was decent but nothing better than you would get at any of the other Indian restaurants in town.

I can’t rate them highly enough. We had dinner tonight and it was sheer perfection. They had really good beers on tap. The staff were really attentive and helpful as well!

Fantastic! Our first visit, we were welcomed straight away and show to our table. the décor in the restaurant is lovely, it feels cosy but airy. Our waiter was great, took time to answer questions and made recommendations. The food was just as good, we had a meat Thali to share, followed by Jaflong Kari, and Kind Prawn Muncharian, the Jaflong was by far the best and probably the best curry i can remember having in a very long time. The portions are good, we ordered two rice but could have shared one easily, same with the breads. We will absolutely be back and make this our go-to Indian restaurant in Lichfield

This was my first visit to Nowka and wow!! The food was amazing some of the best I have ever been served in the Midlands. The staff were all friendly polite and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for am amazing meal. I will be returning very soon. Thank you to all the staff who made the evening enjoyable.

Best restaurant in Lichfield. Had an amazing curry here. From the entrance bar, the bar staff and waiters. It was a great experience. Great atmosphere and decor. Modern and neat. Quiet but also vibrant. Plenty of room great lighting and table sizes. Crockery/plates etc really good quality and different from the standard white plates u get. Interesting popadums again different and tasted great (more popadum pieces than the traditional circular ones you get) Garlic butter chicken with a sprinkling of fresh green chilli, pilau rice and kema naan and of course a beer. Best bit was. The price. Really good. Will definitely be back.

Visited with friends for the first time since the renamed restaurant re opened after their complete refit during the Covid lockdown and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Staff were friendly and welcoming and although changed it was good to know it’s still run by the same family. We all agreed our food was well presented and very tasty. (The only slight criticism is that many of the dishes on the menu are new and we had no indication of how spicy they are) A little help would be appreciated guys but we had lovely evening and will be back.

Birthday meal...had the lamb chops, main meal was chicken (Jangkira I think) All superbly presented and delicious. New place for me and friends to dine. 100% will return. Great hosts too.

The website for the restaurant is very appealing, and the interior decor and service live up tho this. It really is a nice dinig room, and had ben designed really well to feel authentic. First issue though was trying to get in contact with them to make a reservation. Unfortunately their reservation system was down - but trying to contact them by phone made contacting HMRC look like a piece of cake. Onc ewe had made the reservation though, and got to the restaurant I have to say the service was really good. But unfortunately whilst some of the dishes were fine, others were tremendously sweet. I mean - REALLY, REALLY sweet. It was like having a desert. I recognise this is probably a matter of personal taste, but just too much for me and others in the party. A bit of a shame s it spoiled our enjoyment of what otherwise would have been a great night.

First time we have eaten from here since it's changed to Nowka 71 and we thought the food was incredible. We have struggled to find an Indian in Lichfield that we would return to but we would 100% order from here again. Also if you enjoy a hot curry, naga bazaar is the one to order, it's very hot but full of flavour. Best curry I've had in a long time, thank you.

What a place. A group of 10 rowdy lads had booked for our end of season darts night. The management allowed us to have a private room and pre-order our food, some dishes weren't even on the menu, but they accommodated. On the day another of the group wanted to join last minute and again order was accepted. When we arrived we were greeted and down to our room and drinks order taken. Poppadoms were bought in and were plentiful and really tasty. Mains didn't take long at all and everything was in order. The food was brilliant, flavourful and portion sizes were just right. At the end of the night they allowed us to order a round of shots which was probably cheaper than it should have been as the group had reached our collective money limit. But then, another round of free shots were bought. And although some of the group handled the tequila poorly, the management didn't mind and were happy to accommodate. I will certainly return, probably with less chaos however

Well well well boys. This is bloody beautiful. From the moment I stepped in I noticed the outstanding refurb that had taken place. The food was already top tier naughtiness but they've somehow levelled up in that respect too. Have made this my weekly spot. Thanks guys
