McKenzies in the City Lichfield in Lichfield

I attended a birthday meal for around 60 guests, but although the waiting on staff were friendly they were completely disorganised. On our table of 4 we one of us had the balti chicken but failed to get their rice, I was given plain rice instead of pilau with my jalfreze. There were huge time gaps for guests on individual tables to get their orders.

never had such a bad experience at a restaurant. we went as a group of 12, but were most of the time the only people in the restaurant. they brought out food to the first 4 people on our table, then said it would be 10 minutes until the rest of us receive the rest, which is completely fine. 10 minutes go by, then another 10, so then we ask again and the waiter says another 10 minutes. by the time the last meal came out it was 9:40, so a long while after the first lot of food came out. It then turns 10pm and a lady comes over saying we've got to get out as they're closing. I'd understand if we were overstaying our welcome, but we'd waited almost 2 hours for the food to arrive, we were only there so late because of them. -the room also went really cold by 9pm, everyone had their winter jackets back on. -the food didn't match the spice levels everyone asked for - I ordered a naan bread, it didn't arrive. I questioned why and the waiter said he gave it to someone else at the bottom of the table as he mixed the order up, but he never bothered to come and tell me or order another one - CONSTANTLY forgetting everyone's drinks, I saw multiple people on our table have to ask twice. Again, understandable if they were busy but from 7:30-10 we were mostly the only people in the restaurant. the final blow was we got a 10% service charge, which we luckily avoided paying. we also wanted to split the bill but the waiter started shouting saying "I can't do that it's too confusing you'll pay as one". we booked for 12 people and they weren't expecting for us to ask to split the bill? Avoid this place, although I doubt it will be here for long running in this state.

What a place!!! Maybe because was empty but their Menu needs updating(apart of the typo mistakes), wrong opening hours, not availability of main products (no draught beer, only peroni),not to mention 10% compulsory charge on my bill-we are not USA and it is voluntary not compulsory-my waiter was grumpy when I refused to tip further, but he went for a cigarette somewhere between services and when he come back, I did not feel ok to smell his stinky breath when he talked to me.Anyway, food was served after long waiting time-lukewarm, and bad presented.All side condiments was around £3.50 each-when small plate is £8-9. Because of the laud music we couldn't talk to each other but shouting. This place apparently can shut down around 10pm, regardless 11.30pm closing time on their website, so no deserts for me and my lady friend. When my lady friend went to upstairs toilet she witnessed lady manager swearing and throwing her keys in rage on the sink side. She did not apologise to my lady friend and ignore her. Such a inhospitable place and weird atmosphere,food was dry and in future I will avoid this place -it is a shame as building and inside features are very nice-just this place must change current "business".

The worst possible experience - waiting for food 1.5h, EMPTY restaurant on Saturday evening, huge disappointment!!! Overpriced and inhospitable! Went for a birthday dinner 12 of us, at 8pm. Orders were taken before 8.30. First arrived two of the orders-wrong, but nothing, mistake happen. Owner come to apologize that they are running late as only 1chef?(I didn't know that needs more chefs for 12 clients-you see the restaurant was EMPTY,only 12 of us!).So after 9.40pm lukewarm rice apear, wrong meals, plates forgotten, two waiters running like headless chickens, cold dishes. At 10pm the lady owner come and said that they are closing-a few peoples still eating! No chance for desert or singing happy birthday. Bill arrived-included 10%service charge-since when we are obligated to pay for a bad or any service extra?! Is voluntary, not compulsory! Is not mentioned on website or outside board.When asked to break down the the bill, owner become brutal- accusing and shouting, demanding full payment at once-bill cannot be broken! She become rude to the birthday lady, saying that she do not need customers like us, that all has been done right. We left with such a bitter taste in our mouths! I never expected someone in hospitality industry to behave in such manner! Shame and disgrace!!!!

Avoid this place!!! The service of this place absolutely let's it down from what used to be a lovely venue/ restaurant of it's previous predecessor restaurant 'Mckenzies'. I went for my Mum's birthday meal with a group of about 12 of us, we were the only ones there for the majority of the night, yet we were waiting almost two hours for food to arrive, you'd think okay maybe they're preparing the food to arrive all at once so everyone can eat together... wrong. Some sizzling meat dishes arrived that catered the four who ordered them and the remainder of the table were left waiting still for even longer for our food to arrive. We were told they'd arrive in 10 minutes... 10 minutes pass then 20 minutes and still nothing by this point those who had their food already were almost finished whilst the rest of the table are still hungry and getting agitated at this point. Then we get told there is only one chef and the WAITERS are helping with the cooking. Yes the waiters, I hope they have the right training and following the right health and safety food precautions s the chefs because the last I checked cooking wasn't in their job description + all the helping hand and still the long wait? And why was I seeing a chef on the phone in the kitchen anyway (my chair for in view of one of the kitchen doors so when it opened I was shocked with the laziness and lack of care.) Finally the food arrives and flavour was mediocre, presentation bare minimum and lot of forgotten dishes or dishes made wrong and not how we asked them to be made! I was the last to receive my food unfortunately because as to my surprise 20 minutes later we were basically getting kicked out saying the restaurant is closing this is at 10pm yet on their web online it states they close at 11:30 and I'm still half way through eating the food that they were two hours late with which is their fault so why should I feel rushed? They took my water and wine that was still full and half of the table had to leave with unfinished food and drinks that we paid for. The staff at this point were very quickly becoming rude and aggressive when we showed any sign of upset with the treatment we were receiving as anyone would. I think because we were the only ones there they thought they could get away with the attitude. The waiter handling the bill refused to split the bill and wanted one complete transaction as he couldn't be bothered I know this because, he rushed out to have a fag outside as we saw him on the way out. Don't get me started on the woman who was serving us, she was vile, when we were sharing our complaints she responded "don't come back we have plenty of customers" I'd like to know where these customers are during a Saturday night because there was absolutely no one but us there. So disappointing and ruined my poor Mum's birthday meal.

We had a terrific meal this evening, would go so far as to say it was the best Indian food I've ever had. The service was also excellent with an attentive and courteous waiter. Will definitely be going back. The onion bhaji's were to die for.....

This has always been an amazing building and has been a restaurant of varying types for over 40 years, as I recall. I love Indian food and enjoy eating out a great deal, so when I learnt that the old corn exchange was now an Indian restaurant, I had to go. We were a party of 4, and we prebooked unsure as to how busy they would be on a Saturday night. We arrived and were greeted and seated. It was a little before 9 pm, and the restaurant was almost empty. There were 2 other tables being, a table of 4 and a table of 2. So, the atmosphere was lacking. When ordering drinks, the ladies ordered a prosecco and a G+T. When it came to ordering a beer, this is were alarm bells started to ring. All draught products were unavailable. We then opted for bottles, our choice again unavailable. So we asked what they had. Bottles of Peroni, so Peroni it was. We ordered the Heritage mixed grill to start, which was excellent for us to share and was very good. Unfortunately, the mains failed to be as impressive. The lamb jalfrezi was nice, and the lamb tender but, was lacking heat. The ladies had chicken, which was tough and looked like sliced tandoori chicken rather than peices. The little things matter. The gents were clean, a little tired but clean. However, it is unacceptable to have an array of cleaning materials just randomly thrown under the sink counter of full show. As you make your way to the toilets, you pass staff sat upstairs having drinks and a break. In my opinion, this restaurant unfortunately lacks professionalism and management. It is such a shame as the building has always housed good restaurants.

Amazing staff awesome food , absolute hidden gem 10/10

I was the Photographer at a Wedding here last weekend. The wedding party appeared to arrive a little too early, however, staff adapted quickly and served food earlier. I had to sit and wait during service and the food seemed to just keep coming and looked absolutely amazing. As I sat at the bar waiting, both the owners and staff acknowledged my presence, engaged in conversation and put so much effort into making sure I was ok and had everything I needed. After a long wait whilst the guests were eating, they offered me refreshments continuously and after refusing food several times, one of the owners just wouldn’t take no for an answer and provided a plate of samosa’s to ‘keep me going’. I have to say, they were the best I’ve ever tasted and I was genuinely blown away. I was also given drinks and they insisted I took a pudding home with me (chocolate brownie) which again was out of this world. I sat and watched the staff for a long time and considering this is a new restaurant, I was amazed at how they handled the wedding. Their care, thought and professionalism towards all of the needs of the guests was outstanding. But I was absolutely blown away at how well I was looked after as a mere stranger sitting at their bar. I was literally treated like royalty, an absolutely lovely family business. I will definitely be visiting again as can’t wait to try some of the other items on the menu 😊 I know the bride was amazed by the decor of the restaurant too. It looked so pretty decorated with flowers and fairy lights saving her lots of money on expensive decorations. An ideal venue for a wedding or any kind of gathering.

My partners dad and now step mom had their wedding reception here over the weekend. What an absolutely amazing restaurant, the staff had to feed 80 guests and serve us drinks all the while and my god did they do themselves proud. The food was absolutely amazing. Told the owners multiple times we’d be back just for the food alone. The decor was lovely, the building itself is beautiful and they set everything up perfectly. They really made a night to remember. Thank you so much to the front of house staff and the chefs for such an amazing evening. We will be seeing you all again very soon!

Had the fish and chips at lunch with a pint of Camden pale ale. Food and service great 👍👍

Great food!! great service !! Visited these guys on Sunday and have to say wow !! We ordered the sharing mixed grill which was huge !! Best we’ve had there was so much we couldn’t finish it was all done to the best standard .. the masala chips were amazing and the curry sauce was awesome … all for a great price too !! Thanks guys we will be back with friends … highly recommend:)

Had the sizzler followed by saag paneer and vegetable curry mains with rice and garlic naan. Being from Leicester I’ve always found Lichfields curry establishments very average, in fact so average I rarely would eat in them. The new Heritage Indian is by far the best Indian in Lichfield and one I will without doubt be eating in on a regular basis.

1st of all I'd like to point out that alot of the excellent reviews are for the previous restaurant Mackenzies and not the Curry House that currently occupies the site. My review.....its rubbish, another curry place in Lichfield doesn't really offer anything special and the service is poor. It's run by young adults who really don't know what they are doing! What really provoked me for the poor review was the host coming up and saying will I give him a 5 star review. He then presented me with the bill and asked if I wanted to give a tip. However the service charge had already been added. He asked again how much tip I wanted to give and again I said you've already added it. He seemed disappointed that I wasn't going to tip again. There are some many options available in Lichfield. I just hope they look after the beautiful building while they are there.

I would not reccomend this place for eating or drinking, we booked for bottomless from thier website which strongly had Mckenzies bottomless on there still? arrived told the bar person that we had a table booked, his colleague came over and seated us in a side table somewhere you would probably drink not eat. said again we have booked a table and the communication was lost? waited 15 mins manager came over nondrinks nothing and said your table is there which was behind us set up???? He presented a reserve card my name was spelled wrong etc but wmthr reserve card was an old florist card with someone's name on the back! we asked about drinks on the bottomless which had changed not to our knowledge there was no menu, he got his phone out and opened up whats app with the menu on and asked us to choose from that! The drinks menu had changed from the website to his WhatsApp and said cocktail are no longer included in the bottomless, we had a 90 minute slot 2 drinks in 50 mins and no food still, myself went up to complain which I don't normally do ever and a table behind had walked put due to not being served at all. 2 tables across from us was complaining, after 1 hour food turned up bu then you only have 30 mins to left? the owner saw what was happening with the service to be fair she tried to make it up to us, the owner came up and tried to rectify the situation, which we appreciated. Food cannot complain was Amazing when we eventually got it. not the best experience such a shame for a new business in Lichfield.

Super chuffed to have a proper Indian in Lichfield :-) The medium mixed grill was super succulent and overly generous, largest shish kebab I’ve ever seen, chicken portions like half a chicken breast, gorgeous lamb chops and excellent fish pakora. We boxed some to take home, as only 2 of us. The saag paneer and veg curry took me right back to Goa. Staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, particularly when we kept changing our minds about the order (too much to choose from). Loved it, we will be back xx.

Initially a bit reserved on booking due to change of ownership and style of food, plus a few not so positive reviews online. But I must say very friendly and helpful staff, really tasty food. We will definitely book this again and would recommend a visit

The waiters are running around like headless chickens can't remember who ordered what even after writing it down. The food was okay. If you are in a bigger group you might wait a while for your drinks.

Awful service completely ignored we waited 2 hours for our food the staff was rude and they kept saying the food was going to come and we decided to leave there was piss all over the toilets never come here unless you’re reviewing the worst food place ever!

As a group of 6 we visited on Saturday night. Initially the welcome and service was excellent. Then it started going downhill, drinks order took at least 30 mins to arrive. Starters took well over an hour and another long delay for the main course to turn up. During the wait, the staff were mostly unseen. Kitchen problems were blamed and the waiting staff apologetic but it didn't explain the lack of service and slow or forgotten drinks. When the food eventually arrived it was mostly luke warm at best and not very tasty either. Prices were on the high side so expected the quality to match but unfortunately it fell well short. Hopefully they get the issues (speed and quality) corrected as soon as possible.

Booked for a friends birthday present and very dissapointed.We ordered drinks and had to wait 20 minutes, then over an hour to be served the main course after starters which we had to send back because it wasn't what we had ordered.We also didnt receive part of our order but didnt bother chasing as we would have been waiting all night.The staff that were on (2) were good ,but clearly the kitchen and staff were not able to cope with the amount of people that had booked in etc.McKenzies then put a service charge on top of bill ,which was NOT detailed in booking.For a 90 min meal we were there over 2 and a half hours. Would not recommend booking for any celebration, we will not be going back.

Waited an hour for food. Had chargrilled chicken with orzo and pesto- no seasoning , minuscule amount of pesto and zero flavour. Chicken cooked beautifully but not char grilled. Had to ask for salt and pepper to give it a bit of flavour. Hubby had a massive burger with no flavour. Chips, onion rings and coleslaw were nice

Sunday roast was really nice and the portion size was fantastic with cauliflower cheese and red cabbage included on the side along with extra veg and gravy! Would definitely recommend.

We've visited Lichfield today, popped into McKenzies on the spur of the moment. Beautifully decorated, clean and tidy. We chose off the specials menu. Husband had fish and chips, I had chicken tikka. All cooked freshly. Waiter very attentive, quick service. We will come again, definitely. Well recommended.

Visited for first time on Friday, for lunch. Service was good and knowledgeable staff. Very clean everywhere. Was cold to start with, then heating came on. Food was very good, lamb curry cooked to desired spiciness. Toilets left a lot to be desired though, felt like stepping into an old pubs toilet (men’s), rather than a restaurant.

How many times have I ordered fish and chips somewhere, paid ~£18 and it's mediocre at best? Countless. Glad to say, McKenzies is different. The best fish and chips I have had in a long time. Good portion size, and very good value at £13. Lovely building (the only point I'm knocking off was that it was a bit quiet at lunchtime). Lovely, attentive service. Will definitely be returning another time for an evening meal!

Never ever again. Arrived, the place was really echoy, and we were sat next to a hen party - no issue with them but when we asked if we could move to an empty table further away, we were told "they're all booked", which was a lie, as we saw later on in the evening. Tried to order drinks, but the waiter walked away before we had finished ordering. Then waited over an hour before our starters arrived. Kept being told "they'll be with you in five minutes", which went on for 20. When the starters finally arrived, 1 of them was wrong. The mains then took another 45 minutes to arrive, again, one of them was wrong. Also, the "Salad" with the steak was half a tomato. Waited a further 45 minutes for deserts, which once again, came wrong. While we were there, several other tables just left when their food arrived - I assume theirs was wrong too. At one point I was told that another hen party took presidence over us, as they had pre ordered their food - despite the fact we had bee there over an hour. Total Shambles.

Food was good excellent and far better than we expected. Hospitality was outstanding. I highly recommend anyone to try.

Had a lovely meal at McKenzies in Lichfield celebrating my daughter's birthday. Pre ordered food as we were quite a large group. Food arrived promptly and everyone enjoyed their meals. Excellent service from all the staff. Will definitely return.

From walking through the door the service was excellent. Food was amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone.

First time ever I've eaten out for Christmas Dinner. I was sceptical as who wants to work Christmas day, but the place was packed when we arrived. Smoked salmon starter was amazing and very plentiful, perhaps too big, but that's my choice to eat it all. Turkey dinner was absolutely lovely loads of Turkey and loads of veg. I would definitely consider going again next year, hopefully I can so I don't have to cook and clean again!

This is a hidden gem. The food is amazing and there's something for everyone. The Indian options are particularly good! It's cozy but clean. Just lovely, and the staff are brilliant too. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Not nice people any more!!! Following a family bereavement, I called to see if they would honour a gift voucher which had expired by a couple of weeks. The lady I spoke with showed no sympathy, and refused to honour it.

Another great night with our family. Lovely food happy staff, makes a difference.

Fabulous building / setting, I have eaten here many times over the past 40+ years under different management. The food and service was great, I hope the new management continue to preserve and protect this special building.

Really excellent food, brilliant service especially from Juan. Treated myself to a nice meal tonight, impromptu and was not disappointed to have chosen McKenzies. The staff was warm, the food was delicious and the service was spot on. Will be coming back again for sure. ❤️

Food and service were excellent but not much of an atmosphere

The food was excellent and very tasty, completely let down with the service. 1. When seated wine glasses plus extra random glasses weren't removed from our table. Also during our time their when ordering a new drink old glass's weren't being removed causing clutter and making it awkward to eat round. 2. Food Wasn't coming out altogether 3. Wasn't asked if we wanted any sauces etc we had to ask for those ourselves 4. A very noisy table with children were seated right next to us. Really could of seated then somewhere more out the way as them and ourselves were the only people in dining (of course children will make noise and be children so don't mind the noise too an extent just not down our earholes while trying to eat a family meal) 5. My husband asked for his leftovers to be boxed up to take home. It wasn't put in a box or a bag of any kind it was dumped onto some tin foil and wrapped up, brought to the table and patted down. This made taking it home very awkward. I really hope this is just a one off as all the other reviews on here look good! Maybe Staff need more training and monitoring. The food was delicious but sadly won't be coming back any time soon.

We had our wedding breakfast here. They catered well to a wide variety of needs. Think that Indian food is better than the European menu.

Great personalised service on our anniversary. The food was lovely but wasn't very hot and the veg could have had a little longer. I will return though to try more from the menu.

Beautiful little restaurant with an excellent Sunday roast. For father's Day they had a live band on the balcony. It was an excellent meal.

It was okay. My puzzle was the hard dry stuffing balls. Not sure what they added to the meal as they were inedible!! The rest was an average carvery meal. Sorry, but that was my experience!!

My wife and I attended a 60th birthday party, it was well catered with really good food. The only problem for myself being disabled, is that the quarry tiled stairs leading up are very slippery. Might I recommend an applied non slip coating. This is of course for people like myself but should not detract from a visit. Of course being an ancient building, if you are a wheelchair user you would not be able to access the establishment.

Visited for dinner with my friend approximately a week ago and I was so impressed! It feels very exclusive and special. The service was excellent, our waiter was friendly and helpful. It wasn't busy as it was a Wednesday evening but it didn't take away from the atmosphere at all. We had Christmas crackers on the table, which added a nice touch alongside the seasonal menu. The food was absolutely delicious, I had arancini to start and salmon for mains and the portions were generous and cooked perfectly. I would recommend this place to anyone and I shall be back again!

This was honestly really disappointing. I've been past this place for years and have always wanted to go, based on the reviews and the price I've always kept this place in mind for a special occasion. This year has been a particularly difficult one for me and my husband for a number of personal reasons and we have been unable to go out all year so as a treat and to try and end the year on a positive note, my husband booked us a three course meal here which we had to pre-book. We reviewed the Christmas menu which seemed very simple which is completely fine as I've found that usually the more simple the menu the better the quality, along with that fact we were asked to pre-book and the total cost I was expecting quite the experience. We arrived at around half past 5 and considering it was just a few days before Christmas it was unusually quiet, which I put down to the events of the last years so I didn't think much of it. I would like to make it perfectly clear that the staff working there were absolutely delightful and we're providing an outstanding service, sadly anything positive I have to say about my experience ends here. At first glance the place looks very pretty and I did enjoy the lighting, however the restaurant itself was actually quite grubby, there were stacked up rubbish boxes in the entrance on arrival and I noticed the seats at the tables were not only mismatching but also quite dirty. As for the food itself, well the starter and dessert were just fine. I had a potatoe rosti with mushrooms which was the highlight of the whole meal and the dessert which was a sticky toffee pudding which tasted great except the pudding itself was overcooked and crusty which wasn't that paletteable. The main was a turkey dinner which was tremendously disappointing I'm sad to say. The turkey itself was fine, it was cooked well and wasn't overdone and the gravy was nice, but I'm affraid everything else on the dish was just bad. There was no stuffing which was a let down, there was however a disc of meat that I think was supposed to replace it as well as chipolatas which were absent from the meal. The vegetables, especially the roast potatoes were the most disappointing of all, they looked and tasted like they had just come off from the boil and had spent at most 2 minutes in an oven. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting any kind of miracles but for £100 for 2 people, I'd like something better than Toby carvery. Everything apart from the gravy tasted underseasoned and bland as well as being such a ridiculously large portion that most of it got set back to the kitchen. For a pre-booked meal, I expected a hell of a lot better. I hate leaving poor reviews, but I just had to on this occasion as it was a huge let down. I hope McKenzies will take this on board and improve their business, it would be a shame if places like this started to go under.

Comfortable restaurant with friendly staff. Food was very slow to come out (45 minutes plus for each course), but pleasant enough, if not lacking some seasoning. We had intended to stay for desert, but the thought of another long wait put us off. Lots of alcohol on offer, which appears to be a key focus of the business. As such, I might return with some friends for casual drinks and nibbles but wouldn't come for the food alone.

Our reservation was for a Saturday early evening. Staff is friendly, and the restaurant interior was comfortable. However, the carpeting in the reception area was so sticky with what I assume was spilled bar liquor, that it gripped our shoes on entry. Food arrival was very slow, especially for our starters. Although perfectly serviceable (though a little under seasoned), it wasn't impressive or interesting enough to stay for dessert or merit a return.

Had a very disappointing afternoon tea...service & food was very poor...had to ask for our drinks tea/coffee which is usually served before or with the food... Was definitely not worth the price we paid... unfortunately will not be visiting again

Food was very good, they prioritise wine on the drinks menu, gin was fair enough. Mains were well presented, tasty and filling - sirloin steak and braised lamb. One course with a drink - expect around £40 per head. Would recommend 👌🏻

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and reasonably priced. Personally I found the portions to be a little on the small side. However it was a enjoyable experience and excellent staff. I would definitely go back should I find myself in Lichfield again.

Our first visit but will definitely return. Excellent food and service. Couldn’t fault it

We went in by the off chance to get a table for two, and we where very very pleased with the food and service the staff where so welcoming I recommend to any one or every one who come to Lichfield fir a weekend

Food was disappointing for the price and the waiter asked why I wasn't buying a drink when I asked for tap water.

What a lousy establishment, takes a booking asks for confirmation that we will be eating. Shuts without warning or informing me. Does not deserve any trade lousy people managing it.

Shambles !!! Have been looking forward to booking here for 2+ years. Booked for tonight 27/8/22, had confirmation and re confirmation yesterday by mc Kenzies. Turned up on time ,door locked and bolted !!!! We're informed by a member of the public they were closed due to food festival. Absolutely disgusting, some compensation surely due, plus a sincere apology by Mc Kenzies. Could NOT recommend, very disappointed.

Went for to a Wedding Anniversary party there food was really lovely staff were friendly and helpful really enjoyable evening.

Went for family meal to celebrate a wedding. The fish and chips was fantastic however 3 people had stake and none could eat it as they were barely cooked. Will not be rushing back.

Had a brilliant evening meal, with excellent food and excellent service, we even had the opportunity to meet the Head Chef. Would definitely recommend McKenzies in the City!!! It's a very nice venue as well with a relaxed atmosphere. Ps. the Banoffe Cheesecake is amazing !

Great meal with friends tonight

Absolutely a great place to dine . Had lunch there, staff were great , food great. A hidden jem.

We visited McKenzies in the city on 17th June 2022 for our 10 year wedding anniversary when we mentioned this to our excellent server we were given 2 complimentary glasses of prosecco which was very kind. The atmosphere here was great and beautifully decorated inside. The food was incredible and the staff were exceptional. Thank you for a wonderful evening. We would definitely recommend.

Don't get me wrong, there's nowt wrong with this place - the staff were lovely & helpful, it's nicely done out and the food was ok. But that's the problem - for the prices they charge we all agreed "ok" isn't really good enough.....we also had a long wait for service (other smaller groups ordered after us and got served before us - annoying).

As ever wonderful atmosphere, marvellous, prompt service and the best honest food. After many visits the food remains the best quality and most reasonably priced.

Food was great, really tasty & well presented and clearly fresh with local ingredients. The service however was appalling and the floor manager & staff were very inexperienced & rude. I had booked a pre-wedding meal for my family for the 23rd of April as our venue wasn't serving food. We had to preorder as we had a large party (10 including 2 kids - 1 x 18 month old). Some guests (including the 2 children) were left without food for up to 1.5hrs. We had to continuously chase the staff about where the food was, to have the table cleared & to request drinks to the table (we were only offered 1 drink during the whole service). Sadly we had to abandon the deserts of the meal as it was already 9:15pm and the children were becoming very unsettled. Our booking was for 7:15. To his credit, the head chef came out and apologised personally & sincerely for the issues and made a good will gesture for the bill. It's such a shame the staff let this venue down as had the service been ok, we would have had a great experience.

Excellent food with excellent and friendly staff.

Really enjoyed tonight. Last time we went was just after lockdown and the menu was a bit disappointing but now back to full menu and it was great. The staff were brilliant too. Very friendly and helpful.

A delicious Sunday roast and excellent service.

Fabulous ambiance, live music playing. Staff were great, food fantastic. Definitely book again and I recommend highly.
