Service and food quality is exceptional, our family came to visit from Spain where there local cuisine is fantastic, they were even blown away. It was also reasonably priced. Clean plates all round

It's up a flight of stairs so you're immediately wondering if you'll be the lone diner, but thankfully there were other people in. The poppadoms and pickle tray were washed down with a couple of Cobras, the service was great but my chicken tikka jalfrezi was a little bit on the bland side. Not sure about the egg paratha either, but I'd never tried one before.

The food was very bland and disappointed that it lacked flavour. It seemed overpriced, not value for money and the pilau rice was limited. I didn't see the prices advertised for some of the main dishes. Service itself was excellent but such a great pity that the food lacked flavour.

A great place for a tasty meal. A little hard to find upstairs but such friendly welcoming staff. Good vegetarian dishes too.

Ordered a takeaway this evening and it went straight in the bin. Food was cold and wasn't cooked fresh despite the resteraunt being empty. Rude staff member who was unwilling to refund me. Don't bother eating here. Save your money. Worst £30 I've spent!

A family or 4 adults had a fantastic meal with tasty main courses, side dishes, rice, and nan. Excellent service. Food lovely flavours without being hot

We’ve always been fans of the Bengal even though at times we have been a bit disappointed with the food or delivery but they’ve been around a long time and I guess had ups and downs. We have also had some great food and service so we have kept returning. But tonight was really disappointing. Delivery was over an hour longer than promised (apparently due to traffic). The bhuna did not taste or look like a bhuna and was disappointing. The onion bhajees were cold. The chicken tikka massala was watery and the Bombay aloo was poor and tasteless. The rice was fine but the nans were cold and soggy. Over £60 for a meal that was very late and at best passable. Time to move on now I’m sad to say.

I have been a regular at The Bengal but no more. I ordered a takeaway, a rude driver called me to say I’m on your road , come and collect your food. I told him I’m in my pyjamas & have paid for a delivery to my property. He continually refused blaming insurance. After a lively exchange he eventually delivered my food. I called the restaurant to complain & was promised a call back from the Manager, no call was received. There are too many restaurants in Lichfield for them to ignore concerns by regular customers. They’ve lost this one !

Myself, my partner and my son travelled out for food on Sunday we literally just got in the car and drove and ended up in Lichfield. We came across the Bengal restaurant and were so happy we did! The food at The Bengal is outstanding and presentation was amazing! The staff all went out their way to make our experience fantastic. The service and friendliness off staff was 100% we couldnt not of asked for more. The restaurant itsself is beautful with a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be returning again. Thanks to all the team at The Bengal!

We had recently seen the Bangladeshi fruit Shatkora whilst watching a TV chef visiting India, so when we saw this on the restaurant menu we decided to eat here as we wanted to eat authentic dishes. We were very pleased that we did! The waiter was very informative about the menu and then gave just the right amount of attention during our very pleasant meal, plus the Shatkora was very tasty.

BEST CURRY HOUSE IN LICHFIELD - HIDDEN GEM This place was recommended to us by a local. We won’t look further for a curry in lichfield. The staff made us feel like special guests the moment we arrived. The food was stunning. I wasn’t sure what to order and the waiter suggested a chicken balti. I said that I want great with spicy food and they made sure it was less spicy so I would enjoy it. We were looked after and accommodated for at every angle. Such a friendly atmosphere. We will definitely be back… thank you for such a lovely evening!!

Came on Christmas Day for the Indian Christmas set menu. Curry was tasty as was the starter with good quality and size. Beer on tap was okay also. Service was quick and friendly ( was very busy )

We placed a large order for 10 people on a Saturday night via their website. The website is simple to use and worked as you would expect. We picked the order up and everything was there with the order ready on time as we walked in the door. Everyone enjoyed their food, there were no complaints from anyone. We'll definitely be back to this place for food again.

We've been coming here ever since moving to Lichfield 8 years ago and it's still a great restaurant. Love the Chicken Tikka Balti. Might not be as modern as some of the other indians in Lichfield but is certainly the most welcoming.

First visit since before lockdown and we were so impressed. Now under new management, the food was just delicious.We shared a lovely crisp onion bhajee to start, followed by the best chicken, mushroom sag Tawa I’ve ever tasted. Hubby had chicken pathia and was equally impressed. A perfect naan was the side dish. Looking forward to a return visit very soon.

I usually got to Lal Bagh but have not found the service of takes aways to be very good recently and a friend suggested Bengal which a havent been to in many years. The food was really nice and very hot and ordering was made very easy. I had a king prawn sag tawa and my partner had a chicken chilli tawa and both were lovely I will be coming back. We ordered a takeaway last night. We are food people, I like to change things/ add things to dishes so can be a bit of a pain but these guys got everything spot on, the food was so fresh, hot and the most tasty. We did order at 5.45 and it took 30 min to arrive. This is easily the best Indian in the Lichfield area by far.

Food was an hour late and when it arrived it was cold and bland. Complained and the owner said ‘we can sort something out next time you order!’

Had a delivery on Saturday 19th Dec and it was very good indeed .I had a chicken tikka Naga and this was very tasty and spicy.my wife had paneer tikka as a main and she said it was the best she had ever tasted.will continue tu use them ,they are Lichfield's best.

We’ve enjoyed every takeaway we’ve had from the Bengal. Great food which was quickly delivered every time. The dansak is our favourite though everything we’ve tried has been lovely.

Haven’t been to the Bengal in a few years, went for a meal with the family last night and the food was amazing! My dad is somewhat an Indian food enthusiast and was extremely happy. The meals came out in a timely and the staff were so polite. Will be returning soon.

We ordered our first ever takeaway from the Bengal tonight and we couldn’t be more impressed! The food was absolutely gorgeous and the portion size was so generous. The curries had a lot more chicken in than other curries we’ve tried at the other Indian takeaways in Lichfield. It was one of the best chicken tikka masalas I’ve ever tried! Everything from the onion bhajis to the peshwari naan was outstanding. To top it off the staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcomed. We will definitely be ordering again!

Just WOW, what an amazing little treasure! From the greeting to the starters to mains just amazing!What an experience we had! We visited for a birthday meal 10 of us! It was the most amazing experience i have had in a long while! We met the manager Mohamed, him and his team were fantastic! All food presented nicely and taste to match they couldnt do any more for us, Hospitality was in their blood! We had such a great time we had desserts and we are not a sweet tooth family. I would like to add when it came to the bill we were amazed at the price definitely great value for money.Honestly sitting here now reflecting what an experience, i have no thought in my mind we will definitely be back. Having discussions with the family also who are willing to travel to visit the Bengal! Thank you so much i am truly grateful for the experience you have given us, i can't wait to visit again!

I have lived in and around Lichfield for many years but seem to have somehow missed this this pleasant little restaurant before now. Good food and service, at a reasonable price. Small recommendation that they should invest in a proper coffee machine

Went to this restaurant for our staffs Christmas do after being here several times with family and always had great service and food. However on this occasion that wasn’t the case. We had our order taken and a couple of work mates wanted to share a meal to be told no sharing it’s Christmas that’s not allowed!! How? For all he knows they could have a medical reason why they wanted something small to eat. We then waited 30 minutes just to receive 5 poppadoms as there was five of us. The staff didn’t know who had taken food orders so were going back round again to take them even after we said we had ordered this staff member said well just give them to me and I’ll check your order. They made up another table beside the bar but it was also in front of the male toilets!! Yes they were turning people away as they had no room but they weren’t getting any food out to customers either. Our mains came out and were placed on our table only for them to realise they had the wrong table and moved them to behind us. When our starters finally came out it was with our mains an hour and 15 mins later and a rare steak was well cremated! One staff member asked us if we ordered drinks and when replied no he asked again as thou he didn’t believe us in the first place. The plates were moved while people on our table were still eating and asked if there was anything else any drinks etc when we said no they were like well can you hurry up please. Yes they just had a group of people walk through the door but we had just finished our meal why should we be rushed. The bills were all mixed up and dropped on the floor. Don’t know if I’d go back there after this night as felt they were very rude and understaffed with no great customer service, meals were wrong or over cooked. Shame really as we have had great service and food in the past

Sat waiting for our starters and our condiments where taken away and we overheard one of the waiters instructing the junior waiter to check the condiments that had recently been taken from our table and if they are not too dirty to just simply top them up and serve to the next customer. We ate here on a Saturday night and found it a bit quiet which was surprising. The restaurant was recently taken over and the new manager made us very welcome. The old Chinese plates have gone but the fantastic food remains. There is a lot of competition in Lichfield but we will continue to return here.

Had such a lovely meal here last night . The service was excellent. Mohammed really looked after us and all the team checked on us to see if we needed anything throughout the evening . We have been here several times over the years with family and friends, last time was just the two of us.

This was the last of all the Indian restaurants in Lichfield for us to try and surprisingly it turned out to be the best. My Pathia knocked my fave in Brum off the top spot and the staff were both concerned and attentive without being intrusive. This is how dining out should be. We’ll be back. PS BYO is always a bonus in my book.

We thought we had tried all the Indians in Lichfield but then discovered this one - great food, friendly service and bring your own alcohol. Loved it. We’ll be back!

We have ordered takeaway a few times since being taken over by new owners and have been consistently impressed at the quality of the food, it always taste fresh like we are dining in the restaurant. Staff are super friendly and helpful even allowing me to go off menu for my fussy mother! In fact we love the the food so much we’ve booked for Christmas Day!

A second visit within a week as highly impressed with new management and menu. Some great new dishes and the restaurant while newly painted has the service and friendly feel its always had. Staff were attentive and friendly and looked after our family really well. Highly recommended.

We ate here as a large group (about 30 of us). We pre-arranged a set price. A variety of dishes were brought out to us - all very delicious and plentiful. People with individual needs (eg vegetarian, gluten free etc) were easily accommodated. It was also BYO alchohol. An excellent evening out.

We ate here as a large group, with a three course meal being provided for £20 (albeit one of those courses was poppadoms). There was a little bit of a wait but, once service started, the food was excellent, varied, plentiful, and very tasty. The restaurant is unlicensed, hence diners need to bring their own alcohol, if they require it. I would have no hesitation in returning.

I’ve been using this restaurant for over 20 years. New owners have placed their mark on the place that frankly had seen better days. New menu is full of surprises, the food is exceptional in every way. Service is relaxed and friendly. Highly recommended.

Went here last week, never been to Lichfield before, wish I lived there so I could go loads, the food was delicious , the staff were lovely , had a lovely night.

Having done the rounds of 95% of the Indian food establishments in Rugeley & Lichfied I've finely found a place that ticks all the boxes.

have visited this restaurant in the past but not for some time, had good memories so myself and 2 friends decided to try it again, the previous owner has retired, and the restaurant has new owners, although the chef has remained, the menu has been updated and offers a good choice, unfortunately they do not have a licence for alcohol but they are happy for customers to bring their own drinks in, a nice welcome on arrival and service is very good, all three of us thought the food was excellent and well presented. we will be returning again, in the future.

Visited yet again Saturday 27 July. Another successful meal. All portions are fulsome, fresh and nicely presented. Noyon and his waiting team were very attentive even though it was a busy evening. Go and visit Bengal for flavoursome food from an obviously a well clued up chef. Thank you Bengal. Thank you Noyon.

For 50 years I have eaten here had good times the service and food has been really good !

This is the second time I've been here and I was initially horrified to discover that there was a new owner and chef after I'd already bought off-licence drinks to accompany my meal.

After being loyal customers of this restaurant for years we will never be visiting or ordering from them again, not because of the food but because of the shocking customer service. Just Eat system advised that the order would be with us by about 19.20. It arrived at 19.35 - We can overlook this, things happen - we live in the real world and understand that "things do happen". On unpacking the order we found that one dish and one rice was missing- again, things happen. Telephone the restaurant and after explaining the problem, calmly and politely I was told "yeah", that was their response to not just one but two problems (delivery time and missing food). I pulled the guy up on his "yeah" response and received an apology. He then went on to say that they had received lots of orders since we had placed ours and therefore ours was delayed; not my problem! You accepted my order and gave me a delivery time, how you achieve this is not of my concern. He then asked me what I wanted him to do about it? What?? Well, firstly I either want what I've paid for, or my money back! Their solution - when the driver comes back he will send our food out to us as a priority... but by then what they have already delivered will either be cold or dried up having kept it warm. You want to see organised chaos? Order from the Bengal, they have it down to a T!

Been using the Bengal for many years now and never been so annoyed about the customer service I received not only when our food was delivered did they forget our rice but when we rang after telling us it will be ready in 20 mins if we want to collect it but they later hung up on us so we went down shocking wont be using again

We have used the Bengal for over 30 years. The worst service tonight - sat us by a group of young males (they were just enjoying themselves and nothing bad to say about them) but we just wanted a nice quiet meal! We had to wait a long time for food.... and not the best. What a shame for loyal customers to think the last time they will use the Bengal as service just not good enough!!!

Visited on a Saturday night about 19.30pm, 2 of us for a catch up. Tables are laid out to be fairly private and whilst dated the place was clean.

received 2 kormas rather than a pasanda (phal hot) Asked if the 2nd korma could be exchanged and was told to deal with because they too busy Then had to phone back and was told they would sort it next time. I had been asked by one of the staff at the Bengal restaurant if we could provide a list of starters and mains for each of the guests who were coming to celebrate my partner’s autistic son’s Birthday who had reach the landmark age of 30. I was very happy to provide this information as we were a large party of 31 and so I gave the restaurant a detailed spreadsheet indicating for each guest’s choices on the evening before the party. Also, While doing this and as each guest group were paying separately for their meals I included an expected cost using the online menus for the prices to avoid the usual confusion when splitting the bill.

Went with a group of friends for an early evening curry, recommended by one of the group,I had not been for over 20 years. Seemed to not have changed much in character,maybe just a bit smarter. Food all good, fairly priced,staff friendly,seemed please to have us there. One small niggle in trying to get us to have bottled beers after we ordered draught, realized why -- it's much dearer, soon sorted that though ! All in all nice food,fair price,good ambiance, will return.

Usually never have a problem here. However today it just wasnt that great. The food had taken a very long time to arrive so was so cold by the time it got here i had to microwave everything which was a pain. And then when it came the wating the korma the chicken wasnt nice it was very tough and a dry stringy texture. And the lamb starter again was cold and dry. Was very disappointing as i usually love the food from this place.

Been going for years off and on. There's a set menu Sunday to Thursday which is in the window though not offered when you sit down, unless you ask. It's now 10.95 for a full meal from a choice of items. Portions are smaller than ordering al la carter but then I wouldn't normally have a starter so it was ok for me.

We love Indian food so we have tried nearly all the restaurants in lichfield but as soon as we ate for Bengal we haven't been elsewhere since! We love it here, food is amazing and full of flavour and the staff are very friendly.
