The best restaurants in Harborne Birmingham West Midlands

My husband I have eaten at Buonissimo for 35 years and have always had great meals, great welcomes and great service. And everything we know about Italian wine came from this restaurant. Buonissimo is that rare treat in English cities: a family owned restaurant. This rarity is due to landlords only wanting restaurant chains for tenants as chains are perceived to be a more reliable source of income. Sadly it is lawyers that reinforce that myth, and people have to trust their lawyers (which annoys me because I am a barrister). Regardless, I recommend people turn their back on the microwaved food being served at some of the bigger and more popular restaurant chains (our son-in-law worked in one for a while as a ‘chef’ and was shocked at what he found) and instead support local families, private individuals and friends who are dedicating their lives to feeding the rest of us. A great place to start in Birmingham would be Buonissimo.

Without doubt the most delicious food in Brum…. QBox is an absolute winner, Dan’s talent is out of this world. Highly recommended. BEST CHIPPY in the world? Could well be! I absolutely love the chips here at Gabriels. Why? Well it starts with the easy parking despite being at the top of the busy Harborne High Street. With some spaces on the road and additional spaces on the car park (just remember to enter your car reg on the tablet on the counter in the shop!). Then the actual shop is very smartly presented and clean. You can even see the food being prepared and your order being made out. The staff are so nice and polite that you feel you stepped in your own kitchen. And they dress clean and tidy which is so important for me. But the food is where it is actually at. The chips are without doubt the best I have ever had and I have eaten all over the world. They are the best potatoes for sure and they are cooked to perfection. Neither undercooked nor overly heated. And they are always fresh. Never reheated either. I just couldn't resist in putting my box of chips on the ground outside the shop to capture a photo of the delicious chips today. YUMMY YUMMY, HAPPY TUMMY :)

We've been here a few times for drinks which has been fine and pleasurable. However tonight the experience was terrible. We noted that the beer glass had lipstick marks and upon notifying the lady behind the bar she simply said the marks hadn't come out in the dishwasher. This was not an acceptable response. My wine glass had a mark on the base of the glass also. After 1 drink we went onto the Plough across the road. Much higher standards and needless to say very clean glasses! Highly disappointed with this experience.

Yes, it would be nice if you updated the timetable displayed on the internet...which mentions that the pizzeria is open until 11:30pm...;) and actually: surprise!!! it is closed from 16:00!

Delicious food. Fantastic draft beer. The chicken and fish were melt in your mouth. Highly recommend it. Will definitely be visiting again whether a casual affair or a more formal one.

The food was terrible no taste i ordered seki kebabs... And meat with spinach.... That was my worst food.... Shud have gone to akbars hagley rd never again!!!!!

Without doubt the only place of its type on the high street that is consistent . Consistently clean Consistently happy helpful staff Consistently great food & drinks Very chilled and laid back .. love it ! And that’s why we keep coming back.

Hands down the most unauthentic Indian food place. 3 dishes ordered , 2 of them tasted same and were extremely sweet. (by the way it said spicy/hot etc on the menu for those dishes) If you have heard of spices , now will be time to use them.
