Amazing selection of beers, plenty of gin and other drinks. Impresive fridge too. But best of all the garden, with an atmosphere you can't buy. My favourite place to hang out without doubt!

Used to go to this pub for boardgames evening. In summertime has a nice open garden and a covered garden area that is heated in winter time

We didn't have food, but we will be returning to have some. Love place and a beautiful layout for outside drinks and food and a big screen. Staff are so friendly and very helpful, very impressed all round 👏

Absolute gem with a gorgeous beer garden and lush craft beers. The hosts are lovely people. Dog friendly and such a calm oasis.

Lovely garden, loads of tables, nice interior, parking is bad so get a taxi if you can and the staff behind the bar could do with being a bit more pleasant 😕 but we all had a good time in the garden.

I have been to the hop garden several times and enjoyed a great atmosphere and excellent pizzas in summer time. Recently I rented a garden room which was perfect for my bday. Brendon and rest of the staff were fantastic, welcoming and very helpful. Great choice of quality beers. Everyone loved the venue and we all had a great time. I would strongly recommend vist to Hop Garden.

We had a joint 50th birthday here .. and was so well looked after by Brendon & his team! Amazing beers available… friendly staff… all in all a great pub!

We had a baby shower for my daughter and the attention we had from Brendon was nothing but exceptional. He organised a buffet which everyone enjoyed he was attentive. Myself and my daughter want to thank Brendon and his lovely bar staff, I didn't catch her name, she will know who she is who looked after us on Saturday 20th January 2024. Fave pub in Harborne, alongside Sommar! Great range of beers on tap and in the fridge. Top range of Sours, and snacks too! Great team behind the bar, and dog friendly. Warm & friendly decor inside & out, great outdoor space too. Top marks all round!

This is definitely our favourite bar in Birmingham. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. There’s a massive selection of beers, ales and ciders that change so there’s always something new to try when we go. The pizza menu is great and the quality rivals that of a pizza restaurant. The atmosphere is cosy and well decorated. We always take friends and family here when they’re visiting.

a 14 minute drive/just under an hour's walk from the city centre (New Street station) at 19 Metchley Lane, Harborne, Birmingham B17 0HT, you'll find yourself at 'The Hop Garden' - a real gem of a pub. Now, from the main High Street, there's a little walkway to the side of M&S which if you walk down and then take an immediate right turn, you will find yourself standing outside of this wonderful pub. A warm, welcoming inside and a huge, partially covered beer garden, you're spoilt for choice on where to sit. If you want A* service-with-a-smile and a ridiculously great selection of some of the most wonderful and well-kept beers and ciders this side of Birmingham, you most definitely *are* in the correct place...100%. Be sure to check out their fridge full of wines and craft beers that have been specially selected from all over. If what's on tap doesn't tickle your fancy, then you may find something in the fridges that does! Not just drinks/beverages...they have a professional on-site chef with a fired-up pizza oven in their kitchen where they make the most delicious, freshly-made pizza (yeah, it's not a bunch of thawed-out, previously-frozen pizza bases topped with slop, it's ALL freshly made dough topped with the finest, fresh ingredients) AND, should you have any particular dietary requirements, such as say you require a gluten-free pizza, that can be done for at no extra cost, with pleasure. They have a great selection of pizzas available to customers..and if there's anything you need specifically tweaked to make it your own/for dietary reasons, all you need to do is ask/specify it to the staff . So to conclude: 'The Hop Garden' is a lovely, little place, slightly off the beaten track in Harborne. Excellent local pub just off Harborne high street. Lovely atmosphere, always a great selection of different real ales that’s constantly rotating, solid pizzas, and when the pizzas aren’t available they’re happy for you to bring in food from elsewhere.

Owner is amazing and knows his beer. Particularly good for dark beers

Went there on Saturday evening for the first time. Wonderful atmosphere, wonderful selection of drinks and a wonderful garden, even in the rain! The bar staff are friendly and professional, if you've not been, it's well worth a visit!

Lovely little pub just off the madness, which is the high street. Has the perfect balance, not too busy, not too quiet and magnificent staff, taken good care of by Wilf and the other young lady, with glasses. Good choice of beers and cider, as per tv board as well as the usual suspects, guinness, madri etc. Looks like a grand beer garden out the back (we went at night) so will be testing that out in the summer. Even the wife was impressed, which is saying something. Will be back when its stops raining and snowing.

Great little pub hidden away off high street. Real shame we discovered it just as we are leaving the area! Brill drink selection and not expensive either. Staff are really friendly too. A special thanks to Will for some great beer recommendations and insights when we've come in recently. Always nice to meet people passionate about their work!

Just moved in this area, took a walk to the Hop Pub for the first time, must admit probably the best pub been into for years and that’s the truth, greeted with a smile by ( I presume the owner) no problem with our dog sat out side in the garden area, had a couple of pints, had a chat with the guy made us feel welcome and comfortable, this will defo be our local, nice to find a gem like this

Not great selection of wine for my partner and the one we settled with was pretty bad. Oh well, at least it is a beer place and good draughts? Not this time. Shame because I really wanted to like this place

Staff are awesome, the venue is quirky and cool. We go for the free board games night on Tuesdays! The burgers are a solid 8/10 and for the price, really it's a 9/10.

Best pub in Harborne by far! Great garden and an amazing selection of drinks!

This pub has a huge variety of beer and cider and a huge garden to enjoy them in! The garden has lots of uncovered space and a sizeable covered area for rainy days. On warmer, busier days, an outdoor bar opens to serve cocktails, which was a nice surprise to us the other week. The regular pop-up food vendors have always been a treat, particularly Bangin' Wings. There is not a huge variety of food options, but what is there is good quality and well priced. I am unsure if food vendors are there every day of the week, so it may be worth checking ahead to be sure. The staff are also friendly and helpful. Overall, this is one of my favourite pubs in the area!

Excellent venue with considerable variety of drinks, run by people who care about what they're doing. I can definitely recommend their pop-up kitchen events, as well as their board games nights every Tuesday!

This place and the White Horse have the best beer in Harborne. Great ambiance, premises and staff. Beer garden looking good too. I'm from Acocks Green and miss Brendon immensely (Ale drinkers will know what I mean) 5 stars well deserved 👍

Huge list of beers, lots of space in the garden, friendly staff, ordering via website changed my life! And different food throughout the week - just what everyone needs!

I kid you not, £2.60 for some blackcurrant cordial, and that's as exciting as the selection gets for the drivers or non drinker members of the party.

Sadly feels in decline with untended, un-watered and unkempt plants waiting on every shelf and windowsill to die. Good selection of beers and good value but feels really unloved. We made a point of asking for a jug of water which we used to try to revive some of the dried out cacti, succulents and even very sadly, hop-plants.

A great pub. It was the first time we came to Hop Garden yesterday evening and a good time was had by all. Ordering drinks via the app was straight forward. And the quick service of the drinks. Friendly staff who made our night enjoyable. Great atmosphere. And the food from the Greek BBQ was perfect. Would highly recommend and will certainly be coming back. A well deserved five stars.

A great beer pub. Great selection of (well kept) cask and craft beer. Friendly staff. They asked us what music we'd like on as well and as they were not doing food at the time suggested we could bring our own or get food delivered. They got a knife for our pizza too! Only slight improvement would be better info about when food is on or not, but we're definitely coming back. Well behaved kids are welcome even though they are not going for that market

Went after a bike ride, great range of ales and cider (the Welsh cider was fab!), easy & quick app ordering, and love the changes made to the garden during lockdown.

Lovely little pub that has adapted really well post-COVID19 with new outdoor space, nicely partitioned off with good signage, facemask policy and hand gel by the entrance. Staff were really friendly and the service was really quick when using their web-app to order, which was a trouble-free experience (supports Google & Apple pay, so no credit card needed). Great choice of drinks at reasonable prices too. We'd been cycling and didn't have locks with us unfortunately and the manger/owner (not sure which) was really nice in allowing us to store our bikes in their garage on this occasion. We had a fantastic evening and stayed for 4 pints despite the weather getting colder! Will definitely return.
