We have just enjoyed another wonderful lunch at the Royal Oak. The food is outstanding as is the service. Everything is cooked to perfection and so well presented. We are already looking forward to our next visit, as is our golden retriever who gets fussed over.

Stayed at the campsite at The New Inn. Lovely small pub with good beer and food including gluten free options. Only 8 tables inside but more outside with limited opening hours so best to book as the food is worth it. Grass field out the back with ehu and water, shower and toilets needs updating. There was a blockage in the elsan drain but that was fixed after a couple of days. Plenty of good walks to other pubs along the Kennet and Avon canal and only 2 mile walk into Devizes on a good byway.

Nice little coffee shop and lovely coffee. However, food was at best average. Cake had very thin layer of filling making it seem dry. The soup (red pepper and sweet potato) was served nice and hot but was very thin. Staff not particularly welcoming and felt that a smile would go a long way.

Staying in The Bear Hotel, breakfasts are taken in the Lambtons Restaurant. As frequent travellers we rated breakfasts here as one of the best. The portions are enormous, made using first class ingredients and served by a lovely efficient and welcoming waitress. Highly recommended.

Came here in the afternoon of Sunday 17th November with 2 friends from Portsmouth. The blonde lady behind the bar was really friendly and fun.. The locals were also friendly interacting with us... Lovely interior and the garden overlooks the canal so a nice place to sit... Beer was in good condition and although we didn't have dinner, the roasts looked really good... We did have a Brownie each which was very tasty... We're going in for breakfast next time

My daughter and I dropped by on the off-chance of an early lunch - having had a dreadful experience trying to buy a Landrover at the local 4x4 workshop. We were 45 min ahead of opening time but were nonetheless welcomed, provided with some hot drinks and then some lovely baguettes for lunch. Our experience at the Royal Oak repaired our faith in customer service and could not have contrasted more with the way we were treated earlier. It's a shame we live 2 hours away!

This is s small pub in a beautiful setting. It is run almost single-handedly by a lovely Australian lady who is clearly an ex chef. She has a small but varied menu with a different special every week. The menu itself is excellent but her specials are....special. Food is available Wednesdays to Saturdays as far as I know but it is plentiful and VERY tasty. The beer is good too! Her special this week was, to put it like Michael Winner, Historic!

We thought we would try the pub out for lunch. The menu was okay but lacked choice. The food we did chose was fine. The ploughman's, the simplest pub grub, did not have all of the items stated on the menu, but it was okay. The fish finger sandwich was nice, but the pub was colder than it was outside and despite being one of only two tables eating the manager did not even bother with any pleasantries and told her colleague to "deal with them" The lack of a warm greeting or warm atmosphere, made our mind up not to come back.

The pub is a little gem and well worth the trip. We found the staff really pleasant and friendly. Very clean throughout definitely no sticky tables which is always a plus. They have a great chef and our food was excellent. I can definitely recommend the sirloin steak and for once it was not over priced under £20 . Definitely worth a visit 10/10

There seems to be a bit of crossover here. There is The Lamb in Devizes and there is The Lamb in Urchfont. There are comments on here that mention both Lambs.
