A truly lovely english pub. Great food. Barny the publican and Charlotte the bar maid are lovely. Very relaxing and comfortable. The only place we ate twice while on holidays.

A great pub with fantastic food. The staff were very friendly, efficient and keen to ensure we had a good visit, which we did. The King Burger was cooked to perfection and the pile of chips was enough to ensure I didn't mind sharing. Despite being quite busy the staff were completely on top of the service. Highly recommended but I would book before hand if you can.

This is hands down one of the best pubs I’ve been to for a while. All the staff were exceptionally welcoming. We were on the Bikepacking trip, and the landlord kindly let us camp in the garden. The cask ales were brilliant, we stayed and watch the football and also had some food, which was amazing. We have the Special which was steak and ale pie. Really lovely atmosphere. When we can’t, we could use an outside washroom as well. If ever, I’m in the area I would definitely go back in this place. The landlord is doing a sterling job

Just been with my husband for a Sunday Roast Lunch.Took a while to find the pub as it is tucked down a side Road. The Landlord was very friendly and made us feel very welcome .The food was beautifully cooked and presented with generous accompanying veg and cauliflower cheese. My husband was delighted as he managed to get some rare roast beef. Was very full but managed to share a wonderfully tangy lemon posset, one of my favourites. Will definitely return when next visiting the area.

Had a lovely 3 day stay here in the camping field at the rear of the pub. Have been here a few times in our caravan over the years but not since COVID. Booking the site was easy as. On arrival I was really pleased to see that the landlord Richard (Barney) was still there. He runs a delightful village pub and has won awards for his cellar craft. I had a few pints while I was there, my favourite was Henry's IPA. Last night we dined (two couples). What a great meal we had. My wife really enjoyed her Hunters Chicken whilst 3 of us shared the Flat Iron steak platter. This is clearly a weekly favourite in the pub. Best steak meal I've ever had, we had a mixture of rare to medium, served with a wonderful cabbage dish, fresh dressed salad and rustic style chips. Absolute knockout and I would highly recommend. We were a little unfortunate in that it rained throughout our stay but we still had a great time. This is a proper village pub in a lovely part of England. Go visit. We were unable to drive off the grass field because of the torrential rainfall, no worries Richard phoned a local farmer who obliged with his tractor! Thanks James

We were staying at Rendalls farm which was only a two minute walk away and had pre booked for a Sunday dinner and we were not disappointed. All the roasts were excellent, my wife and I had belly pork, beef and my daughter had a burger, just to be different. All were absolutely spot on and we decided to stay for the afternoon and enjoy a drink in the beer garden. We went back later in the week for an evening meal and the standard was just as good.

Asked 'Barny' the landlord of over 20 years if they were opening early on the Saturday for the England lady's world cup match and his response was amazing, allowed us to go in earlier and watch the game on a big screen. Had an amazing lunch, huge variety including vegetarian or vegan and was so welcoming, definitely a home from home. Thank you Barny!! A definite return visit in the very near future. Highly recommend

Gorgeous pub with great interior and interesting garden with views. Extremely good food & drink, and a great menu. We were camping there and had two meals booked in the pub, but only managed one as had to return home for sick relative - feels like unfinished business, as the first meal was superb. New chef since Feb - good choice. Chicken liver starter was lovely and big enough to be a main course, Faggots on black pudding mash with onion straw and grazy was sublime. My wife enjoyed the sea bream and chorizo cassoulet. Back soon!!

Booked for lunch with friends as we are fairly local so it was an ideal spot to meet. Upon arrival, the Romanian / Ukrainian man was not very friendly and very blunt towards us. Not ideal in a hospitality setting. We waited over an hour for our food which we thought was strange as the pub wasn’t very busy as expected on a weekday lunch. My plaice had appeared to be defrosted and then cooked as the water had drained all over my plate mixing with my barely brown butter and capers. It’s such a shame as the pub always had an excellent reputation for being a friendly “proper pub”. I think they have a new chef as the social media shows but somebody really needs to proof read the posts as the spelling / grammar puts the pub down immensely. I love a big ego in a chef but the ego didn’t match the food at all in this case. The ego seems so big on social media I’m surprised he fits in the kitchen at all…..

Such a lovely warm welcome when we walked in. Open fire was going and a few locals at the bar. Proper English country pub atmosphere. We ordered out curry. I had tandoori mixed grill and my partner had Thai green chicken curry. Food arrived in good time and was delicious, helped down by a pint of IPA ale. Such a wonderful time. We were staying nearby and at the recommendation of our hosts booked a table ahead of our visit - good job we did - although it was a wet very unseasonal summer's evening there was a lot of diners! Strangely enough on arrival we recalled we had actually visited this pub to eat in the past - in fact 2006 - when we were staying just around the corner!! We ordered our drinks at the bar and were shown to our table - a good location with a nice atmosphere. We browsed the menu and the daily specials board and changed our choices several times! Unfortunately there were a couple of dishes already "sold out" on the specials board. When the server came to take our food order we were informed a couple of the dishes we'd decided upon were also "sold out" - a good indication that this is a busy pub and the food is good! We decided upon starters - 2 of us had the butternut squash soup and the 3rd member of our party had the stir-fryed beef dish - all absolutely delicious! For our main courses we had Gammon Steak - 2 eggs (both of which were double yokers!), Beef Burger and Fish and Chips - large portions, well presented and so tasty. No room for deserts unfortunately - as the choices were very tempting! All in all a great meal and wish we lived nearer to come more often! Thank you.

This is my local pub, has been since I moved here, and I am in there every week for a drink, but I think this was the first time I went for dinner. Their main dishes from the blackboard, offered plenty of choices, and 3 of us agreed that their cod with chorizo was delicious. The beef pie also hit the spot. The menu changes frequently, and includes pub staples from local farms, such as beef, sausages, gammon and so on, as well as fish and chips, so all tastes are covered. The pub itself is a warm and friendly local spot, with open fires in winter, and a clientele mainly from the village and surrounds, though proximity to the Kennet and Avon canal means that narrowboaters also pop in, along with Devizes folk and some out of towners. The pub also has a garden and small field behind for the few days in summer when you can sit outside in England, and actually enjoy it. This is a classic village pub - everything you could want really, and my only misgiving about writing this is that it may encourage too many other people to try it out, and perhaps crowd me out!

We had a very friendly greeting, were promptly served our (much needed) beers and retired to a table to peruse the menu. I had expected to have to order at the bar but lo and behold a young lady quickly arrived at our table to take our order. We were only there for a snack (more walking to be done in the afternoon) but various differently filled ciabatta rolls went down very well and we were given a cheery "Goodbye" on the way out.

My wife said her chicken and tarragon pie was best she had had for quite a while. A welcoming pub well placed for the canal visitor.

This place was recommended to us on our first night of a canal boat vacation and was good enough to revisit on our way back. The food is excellent and the pub (A Wadworth brewery pub) has a good range of offerings. I particularly like the Corvus stout with a mild coffee flavor. My wife and daughter liked the Bulmers 17 cider and my son the Thatchers Gold. All the food was terrific from appetizer to desert and the staff very friendly. We arrived on our first visit very late, but they kept the kitchen open for us which was greatly appreciated.

Used this pretty village pub while moored on the Kennett and Avon.Welcoming staff, friendly clientele. Simple menu cooked fresh with ample helpings. Wish it was my local. Wheelchair Accessible

We were on a Kennet and Avon Canal holiday and moored for the night in this delightful village. Rang beforehand to check on disabled access as one of our party of 4 was in a wheelchair. Warm welcome and help with ramp ensured easy entry and there was a good disabled toilet (outside). Good beer and very good food. A very nice evening thank you.

The Kings Arms at All Cannings is a lovely looking pub in a quaint English Village. Well worth a visit with a good selection of Wadsworth beers. Check the opening hours as it does closed in the afternoon. We missed the lunch time session so returned at opening time 7pm for a drink and our evening meal. I will cut to the chase on this pub it was very nice but a cool welcome and the service was appalling. There were only 14 covers over five tables and the service started well but deteriorated into awful. The young lady who started to serve us disappeared and we were left abandoned. The gent on the next table gave up waiting and went to the bar himself as his table was a desert. The prices were high for pub grub and we expect more. Having checked out the interesting photos of visiting mature POP Stars for the annual charity concert I left feeling disappointed with our visit.

We have been to this pub a few times over the course of several years . It has been nice in the past but the last couple of times there have been obvious problems in the kitchen . The first time was a Sunday lunch which took well over an hour after ordering to be served but when it eventually came the food itself was good . This review pertains more to the second time we had a bad experience at this pub. We ordered starters and a main course . The starters were served quite quickly but then there was nearly an hours wait for the main course by which time it was starting to get late in the evening . When the main course came the food was on the cold side of lukewarm and the portions were tiny . What made it worse was no communication from the staff about the delay and only the offer of a ten pound voucher off our next meal after we complained about the food being cold . We refused the voucher because why would anyone want to repeat such a bad experience of eating out .

We really enjoyed our meal at the Kings Arms. The food was great and I think the service was the friendliest we had on our holiday

On a cold Thursday afternoon with 15 minutes to closing we walked into the friendliest pub I've found in a long time. The brilliant barmaid Ella was helpful and informative, friendly and engaging. Ella should be the standard all bar staff, actually anyone facing the public, aim to to emulate. She was staying on to wait for a regular to get his bus so let us finish our drinks in peace but also booked us a table for that evening. On our return we walked into a warm welcome and a happy crowd at the bar. If they'd been any happier you'd wonder if you'd walked into a setup. A couple of games of pool loosened us up for dinner so we were seated comfortably near the fire. The food for all of us was top class. I've paid more in "better places" and been disappointed (as you may have read). The steak is one of the best I've had and perfectly cooked, blue, with kicking mustard and fab fries. The crispy beef starter is definitely something I've never found in this way before and I'll be messaging the pub for the recipe. To call this place dog friendly would be an understatement. Our friends dog would live here. Oh and they have a music festival each year with big stage names attracting 5000 people in a tiny village.Close to the canal, good beer, great sign by the pool table and fabulous atmosphere. An ace place.

We ate here on a Saturday evening on a glorious weekend when the pub had been busy all day. Took a long time to be attended to at the bar and if we hadn't booked we might have gone off in search of something else! Several specials were already sold out leaving a fairly restricted menu. What we had - fish and chips and pie and chips - were OK but unremarkable. Fine but not a memorable meal.

Stopped off for lunch. Good menu. Chose ham, egg and chips, it was lovely. This is a traditional English pub, full of charm and character. Friendly staff. Take a walk around this lovely village, local people were charming and it has an excellent village shop. The church is also very interesting with loads of history. All in all a great place to visit, lovely and quiet.

Love the feel of this place. The crispy beef starter was divine but the terrine was a little plain and the butter that came with it was rock hard. I would definitely visit again and try some other dishes.

I have eaten here many times and it NEVER disappoints. The menu is very varied and imaginative, the cooking skilled, the prices keen, the landlord a lovely man, the atmosphere has the best of British country pubs and the beers and wines are first rate.As examples, they cooked my delicious fresh fish exactly as I wanted it (no batter) with my own choice of crisply fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked, followed by the refreshingly unique flavour of a mango and apple sorbet sourced from Somerset. An utterly wonderful experience all round. And it stays wonderful for every visit.Because All Cannings is hidden away near Devizes you can almost always rely on getting a table here. But the postcode will get you there easily. In a bigger place it would be booked out for years ahead! 5 STARS ARE NOT ENOUGH TO SING ITS PRAISES!!!

We've eaten there a number of times and have had an excellent experience every time. Good food, beer, wine and always friendly and efficient service. Pub is off the through road so good for small ones. Excellent cycle stop off and has footpaths which don't require you to expose your dogs to traffic. Friendly and efficient landlord and staff. Will go again. Close to an excellent Paragliding spot which is good for southerly winds. I've seen the occasional caravan and tent in the fields round the back so assume that this may be an option - worth asking.

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Website showed great promise. Kerbside appeal good, car parking good, service very good ( very helpful and friendly). Strange layout inside as its old building, dining room has no bar. Garden not used to its full potential, only very old tired play equipment for children. Food reasonable, 2 out of 3 meals okay. Third meal of chicken disappointing, either poor quality meat or overcooked or possibly both !!!!! Empty on a nice sunny lunchtime !!! Sorry but would not rush back.
