This is s small pub in a beautiful setting. It is run almost single-handedly by a lovely Australian lady who is clearly an ex chef. She has a small but varied menu with a different special every week. The menu itself is excellent but her specials are....special. Food is available Wednesdays to Saturdays as far as I know but it is plentiful and VERY tasty. The beer is good too! Her special this week was, to put it like Michael Winner, Historic!

Absolutely fabulous little pub tucked into the quiet village of Coate. The food was amazing and plenty of it. It was a very busy evening but the staff were extremely welcoming, friendly accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The locals were very welcoming too. If you get the opportunity to visit this hidden gem, you won't be sorry. We will be back.

A true hidden gem in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. Just a short drive or a destination for a walk this quiet country pub is something else. Friendly staff and friendly locals you will always be greeted with a smile. A really nice place to hang out on a hot summer's evening in the shade.

We have lived close to this pub for many years but gave up going with previous landlord's. However walking past it during lockdown and seeing the many improvements made meant we tried it again and wow it offers so much for such a small pub punching well above its weight. The menu is fresh and changes regularly will more options than I would expect from a pub this size and all at a good price. The surroundings are just lovely and the team so nice . We take house guests there as it is so reliable and we love the walk there and back. The only reason I have not left a review before is I would be frightened if it became so popular we could not book. A real local pub to be proud of!

Local pub has new management and she has done a great job of it. Ate here for the first time yesterday. The food is plentiful, freshly cooked and fairly priced. The pub itself is small but is nice and clean and has a pretty seating area. Off the beaten track, very close to open countryside and great walking and cycling routes. Take the dog, it is a very dog friendly pub.

We visited on a Saturday. The menu looked really good, especially a great selection of vegetarian dishes. However two out of four dishes we ordered were unavailable and then one dish was served without potato with no explanation. It was only on querying it transpired they had run out of potatoes and just used the last of the chips. Shame they didn’t explain this when bringing the food out. The quality of the food was generally okay, nothing to get excited about though. You can find better food elsewhere, especially as the prices are on the higher end of average.

Great Staff try very hard here to make the difference. Hence 5 Stars ! Burgers (when they have them) are very good indeed and the omelette as a substitute for my burger was excellent ! Possibly best small side salad from any pub Ever ! Onion rings were a mixed bag (literally) but that’s by the by a really nice pub run by really nice people who actually give a toss about what they do! Thanks for a great afternoon all x

For Christmas Eve we hired the skittle alley and ordered a buffet for our 10 member family group, adults and children. Two of us have a dairy allergy, one severely. The buffet was excellent with great attention to detail for the allergic ones. Everything was labelled clearly. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and obliging. We had a lovely time and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was a family get together to remember. I can’t recommend the New Inn highly enough. I’d give it 6 stars!

Visited as part of a group - I rarely drink Wadworth as it is not to my liking but I must say this was probably the best pint of Henry's IPA I have ever drunk. No sourness (which I find with many Wadworth ales in many pubs when I've drunk it) and at £3 a pint a good/correct price too (for Wiltshire anyway) The pub is cosy - a good size for a village pub. Lots of indoor seating with a small garden outside, and a sizable car park. Overall impression - good to very good. If I ever wanted a pint of Henry's IPA I know where I would come.

Locals use the pub to and are a very friendly bunch which brings me to the staff. Great welcome. Friendly staff who engage with you with some banter. Great. You know, there are some really good ways to know if you find a good place with great service. We visited the New Inn tonight and it was great. Why? Because the overheard me moaning earlier about how I could never find a Pizza without cheese (which I hate with a passion). Unknown to me Vicky or Carl heard me and tonight, I got the mother of all pizzas without cheese! It was fab! Washed down with a Kronnenberg it was, well, fabber! So thoughtful. After I washed it all down with a fresh ground Latte coffee with a bit of caramel in it. Best pub evening I ever had so thanks Vicky and Carl!

I am a regular at the New Inn. Been living in the village 6 months . There have been a few issues with the pub we but let them slide. (I could if asked go into detail).Tonight I bought drinks and went into the beer garden. Drinking my drink with my husband and suddenly noticed a slug in the bottom of my glass. Now I am not a squimish person but obviously not happy about this. I took my drink back in the pub. Becky and Amy in there. I said I think we have a problem and showed them the glass with the slug in it. Becky, the boss, said to Amy' you need to check the glasses ' and left the pub . Amy said ' that's gross I feel sick' I said how do you think I feel I've been drinking from the glass' No apology. No nothing. Just pulled another dink for me and she said 'don't say I never give you anything!'She then said that the slugs can't get in the pipes implying I put it into the glass!Becky came back while we were in the beer garden but no response! Unbelievable. I took the slug out of my glass. Took it outside and after appearing to look dead it revived and I let it go.These people have no people skills . Luckly for them I'm not the kind to kick off but this is a disgrace.

Have visited this little pub which is off the beaten track a few times over the years and its always been a quaint little pub clean, tidy and cosy with friendly service and good food at a good price. This time however all has changed it was cold with no heating on or fire going in December!!!There was a strong smell of dogs on entering, after a short time someone appeared at the bar to serve us our drinks which we had at the bar where we also ordered our food.I had been given to believe the menu had gone up market so was surprised that it was actually the same pub fare you get in many places but to be fair that quite suited us.After waiting half an hour we sat ourselves at a table in the empty restaurant and continued to wait, our starter eventually arrived and was adequate, a short time after we had finished our starters were removed and the mains arrived. The burgers were again adequate although receiving coleslaw in the smallest ramekin possible was a surprise as a third of a forkful is a bit pointless and there were very few chips which were rather limp and undercooked. Dessert clearly was not homemade and expensive for what it was.Overall the service was rather no existent throughout, we were the only people in the whole time and it was almost as if the staff wished we had not bothered and left them to chat on their own.Was surprised how dirty the toilets were for a place which sells foodOverall the place was cold, unclean and the food overpriced for what you get and the service unwelcoming, unfriendly. An expensive lunch served slowly in the cold. Its a shame as it always used to be lovely.....there are so many better places close by or in town to eatI will give it a miss for a while before giving it another try

We wanted a venue for a late lunch (3.00 pm) and were having difficulty finding somewhere that served food all day. So after going through Tripadvisor's listings for Devizes restaurants and cross referring to their websites we came across the New Inn at Coate. Not only did they serve food all day but they also offered a festive menu which looked good and was reasonably priced so we made a reservation. The New Inn was easy to find and turned out to be a lovely country pub with good parking facilities. We pre-booked our meal and they were happy to accommodate one of us with a food allergy. The Christmas menu was excellent. Three of us had a very generous serving of prawns as starters served with brown bread and one had the soup which was piping hot and came with a selection of bread rolls on a board - enough for all of us to share. The roast turkey meals were lovely, tender meat, great roasties and plenty of veg. One of our party had the sea bass which was also delicious. This was followed by various desserts and coffee with home made truffles. The service was excellent and the wine was reasonably priced. The only downside was that we were the only ones eating in the restaurant but there were lovely Christmas lights and crackers to give it a bit of atmosphere. It also meant we could have a good laugh without disturbing anyone else.To summarise. An excellent meal in a lovely country pub that didn't break the bank.

The new tenants continue to provide Wadworths in Casks but have also added a really interesting food menu which suits the whole family. The young team have been trained professionally in the catering trade and it shows.Service in front of house is well handled by Amy who also provides a lovely welcome to all dogs !A real plus for the area !

OK we were the only ones in there, but the welcome was less than friendly, very cold in bar, with no heating on. The cutlery was not clean. Now for the food, I ordered a chicken burger, when it came out, it was just plain chicken breast in a bun with several onion rings on top. Not my idea of a burger. All you could taste of the onion rings was fish. The chips tasted as if they had been reheated. The wooden board it came out on, did not look very clean. When I complained, the young lady had nothing to say, her hand was held out for the money. I did wrap the chicken up and my dogs had it. I will certainly not go back there. I will add I am a retired chef. Worse meal I have ever eaten out.

We've moved into the area and went to try this local pub on a dull bank holiday - it's open all afternoon. Friendly people and a simple and short "pub grub" type of menu - it was late for lunch, maybe they do more in the evenings. The pub has been refurbished a bit and is quite attractive inside, though it would be great if they could update the carpet too.We had between us fish and chips and burgers - and they were really excellent, some of the best chips ever and very nicely presented. A great place for simple pub food very well done indeed in a good atmosphere. Eveidently quite recently taken over, they deserve to do well - we'll be back.

I understand the place is under new management and I think it might take some time for them to find their feet. For instance they’d already run out of cider, on a bank holiday weekend, you’d think they’d have bought more in. That said the staff were really friendly, and I loved the fact the place was clearly packed with locals and there were several dogs running around including an adorable spaniel pup. However, the portions were rather meagre, for example, in my goats cheese tortellini, there were only four pieces, this works out at about £2.50 per piece. While each one was tasty, they were by no means value for money. The lamb my father had was beautifully presented, by there was quite a lot of gristle attached, so he was not satisfied either. The puddings seemed to be a bit hit and miss too, the bread and butter pudding looked excellent, as did the cheesecake, but the sticky toffee pudding looked like one of those microwave jobs, and the chocolate brownies are rather small. If I had to base this review solely on the food it would not even have three out of five I'm afraid, but the management is winning on the atmosphere they have created, so I'd definitely go back for a drink at some point.

My partner and I decided to pay a visit after I recently moved close to the pub, after having confirmed over the phone that it was 'dog friendly' (which it is) we popped in for a bite to eat.Initial impressions were that this is very much a locals pub and all the better for it, quite small but comfortable and welcoming, small range of cask beers available which looked good, but I had a couple of perfectly decent ciders, which tasted clean and well kept, Deb enjoyed her wine (but that's rarely an issue!)We both ate and found the food very good, well cooked, decent portions and a from a choice of typical pub fayre, I was tempted to order the steak but went for the fish and chips after my partner dissuaded me from doing so, only to see a great looking cut of meat go to the next table a few minutes later! So i'll be going back just to try that...More than happy to thoroughly recommend this little gem and shall most definitely be popping again after a Sunday afternoon walk.

We visited on a Sunday for breakfast. Arriving a couple of minutes after 10am (opening time), we queued for a table and then again to order food. There were plenty of tables but appreciated it was busy - not all tables were full. We waited for 50 minutes for our food to arrive, although coffee arrived much earlier. This was prompted by us asking where our food was/checking the order had been made, to which we were told ‘we’d just have to wait because it was busy’. The food arrived 5 minutes later. The food was tasty and we’ve no complaints about the quality or price. But, something about the system here just doesn’t make sense, queuing at every point and then waiting another 50 minutes for scrambled eggs on toast and a bacon sandwich, doesn’t make sense. We arrived at 10 and didn’t leave until 12:15…. People had started arriving for lunch! Sadly, we’d not return. There are just other places nearby that are doing it better.

The location of this establishment is strange because the shop/restaurant sits within what is essentially a business park in the middle of nowhere but it is not hard to find. The setting was ideal for a summer lunch with lots of variously covered areas to shelter from the sun or rain if it happens. Then you realise that all these covered areas are, in fact, the restaurant! I saw no evidence of indoor seating. The main seating area is fundamentally a plastic marquee attached to a shop unit and all the seats are picnic benches. They have an interesting menu, which changes regularly I understand, and it is obvious that this establishment is not trying be a full all ‘singing and dancing’ restaurant and they do make that clear. It uses locally sourced quality produce for Deli style light meals, specifically lunches, and also snacks. The people running it are personable, welcoming and efficient. We found them very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. Overall, the food menu is a little overpriced I feel but not excessive. That said, a few dishes do seem “over the top’ for what they are. It is the shop where the prices are eyewatering expensive and I think they have gone too far. I can here them now saying that they are supporting local suppliers and that this comes at a cost but times are hard and I do truly believe they, or their suppliers, need to face reality as the pricing is far too high. We need to support businesses like this but they have to respond too! Did I enjoy my meal? Yes, fantastic, Would I go again? Yes, definitely! Would I encourage you to go? Yes definitely! I just warn you that your visit will be enjoyable but not cheap so be prepared.
