The best restaurants in Marlborough West Wiltshire South West

It's got a good selection of beers and if you're hungry the café in the courtyard is excellent for breakfast and lunch. As per all the pubs in Marlborough, you pay more per pint than most places. The locals say it's the cheapest pub in Marlborough and it might well be, but it's still expensive.

There are two ladies who work in here who are unfailingly polite, cheerful, unobtrusive and friendly. The reason for my adding of an extra star from my previous review is because of them. However, it seems that this branch of Costa attracts young male staff who are loud, use audible bad language and are over familiar (I object to being called ‘mate’). When I come to a Costa, I am expecting/hoping that I won’t be disturbed or distracted by very loud conversations, lots of ‘f’ words and inane ‘banter’.

A great place on Marlborough High Street to meet friends for a catch up. Always a buzz downstairs or you can work quietly upstairs

My wife and I called in for lunch last weekend. The weather was lovely, the staff behind the bar were friendly, the flowers in the beer garden were nice, but unfortunately the food and the wait let it down. My wife opted for Fish and Chips and I opted for their Chicken Kiev. The fish with wife's meal was nicely battered (not too thickly) with nice chunky chips. Then it goes downhill from thereon. Her peas, which were supposed to be mushy, were a dried inedible blob on one side of her plate. However, the issue really came with my meal. To take two dried / breaded chicken pieces, lay a few thin slivers of cheese (presumably cheddar) on top and then place it in a pool of garlic butter with a ramekin of herby chips does not in my opinion a Chicken Kiev make.

We visited with family from France with dog who were looking forward to visiting for coffee and a light snack for lunch,we arrived on a dry bright Sunday lunch, although relatively busy, there were several tables empty, albeit full of dirty leftovers, when we pointed this out to the lovely girl behind d counter she promptly cleared table and wiped, from this point expectations fell away quickly, there was absolutely nothing to eat except carrot cake or muffins fresh or pre packed biscuits and flapjack ! We mentioned this to the counter staff who just said sorry were short staffed and low on food, there were 8 members of staff behind the counter ! Oh well, we ordered coffee which hit the spot first round fine, second round incorrect, then members of our party wished to visit the loo before leaving, a queue of several people waiting constantly to use 1 toilet that was disgustingly dirty from top to bottom ! All in all a poor experience of what some 18 months ago was a lovely place to visit, maybe it was just an Off day, but to have that many staff not doing a lot or cared a lot, not sure I would be in a hurry to revisit

A lovely little bistro, scores very highly for atmosphere (music and decor). It uses a small menu which changes daily but this means fresh ingredients! Friendly and helpful staff. We were in town for several days and ate here twice.

We went to bite me burger a couple of weeks ago and I highly recommend it! We had the trio of burgers with fries each and it was delicious! Great portion sizes. The staff are lovely and friendly and went the extra mile to ensure we had the best experience. They are very accommodating and let you change sauces if you wish. Milkshakes were also tasty! They also have a clever idea of “Sunday roast burgers” which we are looking forward to going back to try!

Food was ok and cost quite a bit. Not really any parking either plus you have to walk down a main road to get past the railings to get to the shop.

Lovely Breakfast and lovely staff at the cafe . The Food was great and reasonably priced. The young Teenage Lad working couldn’t have been more helpful if he tried . Will definitely return back to the cafe on a weekend , as it was a lovely morning .

It is a long time since I have been here, my last visit was not good but, wow what a difference. Lovely staff, excellent food, left feeling I will be back. Thank you.

Nice enough room but no one turned up for breakfast. Waited for an hour in empty pub, gave up and left.

Shocking fish and chips…! The smallest bit of haddock in my life and the smallest large chips too. The curry sauce was lovely but as expensive as the rest.

Good food, good wine, great service

Great pub! The staff were so welcoming and helpful. We went for Sunday roasts and they were delicious. I had the nut roast and to was perfect! Will definitely be visiting again for another Sunday lunch!

This pub is open. This pub sells excellent beer, it is friendly, and they allow you to bring your own food. Refurbished in the last couple of years, it's probably the best pub in Marlborough.
