The best restaurants in Dartmouth and Kingswear South Hams South West

My husband and I had tea and good toast sat outside this friendly cafe. A lovely, quiet area of town, I recommend a visit, especially on a sunny day.

We arrived in Dartmouth for a weeks holiday and after reading the reviews thought Bushell’s Upper Deck sounded great so we walked down to give it a go. It’s a pop up restaurant and it was its last night of the summer. They welcomed us, explained as it was their last night there was a limited menu. We had a super meal, starters of squid and garlic flatbread, followed by seafood risotto and American pizza, finished off with tiramisu and ice cream. Fabulous food, great service, very friendly and welcoming and fabulous views. We certainly struck lucky! Thank you!

Had a smashing meal. Great service and food was excellent. It’s a cosy and warm place to eat with plenty of space, good accoustics and comfy seats. Food was great with a relatively small choice of dishes but all of which sounded delicious. The vegetarian options were well thought through and appreciated. Both the Sea bass and the Duck were also good portions and both delicious and nourishing. If you get window tables then you have a nice view but we were a last minute booking and so the last table in the house - a little more tucked away. Overall we had a lovely night and look forward to returning in the future.

I ended up here by chance. Good food and very friendly service. It was very good and a bit expensive... but the quality is top-notch.

Just come home after a weekend staying at the Anzac Street b&b, great location located in the centre of Dartmouth, the service was excellent and the breakfast was really nice. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I had an absolutely exceptional meal at The Angel last Saturday night . We had the tasting menu and every course was brilliant . The food was beautifully presented , tasted wonderful and had the right amount of food overall to make for a great experience . The front of house staff were great but the food was the star . We highly recommend both for quality , style and value for money . Not many places you get food this good without a Michelin star .

What a place honestly! I absolutely adore finding hidden gems in small towns and the Steam Packet Inn in Kingswear is an absolute delight. The staff is lovely and the food is delivered with incredible care and enthusiasm. They offer a variety of different deals so you’ll never miss out on trying different things from the menu. I highly recommend the chorizo and scallop bruschetta.

Had a wonderful few days. The staff are amazing, so friendly, providing excellent service, nothing is too much trouble. Dartmouth is such a lovely place. Will definitely be back

The Asian take on the pork belly baguette is phenomenal.

Absolutely wonderful. Delicious food. Friendly, happy staff. We didn't book as online looked available, but when we arrived it was very busy. However, we were lucky to get the window seat. It was magical as it got dark, to watch all the lights on the water and the opposite shore. There was a great choice of fresh caught fish. We went for the excellent value set menu. The chowder was delicious, and the fish and chips cooked to perfection. We weren't rushed and had a lovely, relaxed meal. And the bonus on top, two sprats for our dog! We loved it. Shame we're not local to visit again. Thank you for such an enjoyable experience.

This was a great place for a reasonably priced lunch. The food was plentiful and the staff were very friendly. I'll be back next time I visit Dartmouth.

We went to Bushells for my mums special birthday. From the time of booking Sarah was amazing, nothing was to much trouble and always replied promptly. We were a large party and basically took over the restaurant, no hassle with booking which you sometimes get when you are a large party. Food was delicious, service excellent and the views are amazing. They catered for one coeliac with no trouble at all. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Bushells for making it a very special evening!

Great location with views over the river. We were seated outside under a canopy on a bench table with no back, so not too comfortable. The food was fresh and delicious and service friendly and efficient.

As a family of 4 we come to Al Fresco's whenever we are in Dartmouth, the cafe is a draw with its almost parisian atmosphere. Although best tasted in the summer months when the place is bustling, we had a wonderful brunch together at the start of January. The rest of the family had the full cooked breakfast I settled for Synamon with bacon, this was delicious. The staff are friendly and accommodating and yet again, we loved out visit. I only leave 5 star reviews, if I don't like a place or find fault, I'll simply not recommend. I love Al Frescos and recommend it. 5 Star.
