Taylor's Restaurant in South Hams

We all had the 3 course dinner. The reception and the service throughout were excellent. All rated the whole evening a great success. All were able to make their own choices. We look forward to returning on another occasion.

Brilliant evening at Taylors. Food was terrific and service excellent, as always. The duck was to die for. We went with friends who had never been before. They thought it was great and would be definitely coming back. It is consistently good - we have never had a bad meal here!

Meal spoilt by a haughty old woman serving the tables, think she was the owner. Very stuck up attitude and dismissive service.

Taylor’s is a comparatively small, first floor restaurant accessed by stairs. It has a pleasant atmosphere with attentive staff and a fine menu. We had rib eye steak and sea bass and both of us thought our dishes were very good. The wine list has a good choice of red, white and sparkling.

With a plesant atmosphere, attentive service and a good menu of food and wines, Taylor's was a great place for our desired fine-dining meal on a Friday night!

A lovely restaurant, with an amazing view towards the river Dart. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and well looked after. The owner & staff were very attentive. The food was really good, and one of the best cheese boards we’ve sampled. The espresso martinis were sublime. Honestly, the best we’ve had (and we’ve had a few!). Really great

Loved it so much at the Taylor Restaurant we went twice during our stay in Dartmouth. The food was exceptional especially the duck special in a mulberry sauce. Staff and service was first class! They were easily able to accommodate my sister who is celiac (gluten free). An amazing experience - twice!

Lovely restaurant, attentive service. Their dishes were amazing - lobster, prawns and scallops served in a lobster shell, aswell as the lamb and starters. Beautifully presented and great tasting.

New to the area and a quick search of restaurants came up with Taylor’s. Great menu, great food and really friendly staff. Great for a more upmarket meal out.

We had a fantastic night here. The food, ambience and views were perfect. We had originally booked another restaurant and were let down badly by them. Taylor’s came to our rescue offering us a table within the hour. We had scallop starters followed by a perfectly medium steak and yummy monk fish. Finished with what my husband described as the best dessert ever a salted caramel and choc ganache. The staff were friendly and helpful. Couldn’t fault our experience and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent independently run restaurant. We went on our first evening in Dartmouth and it set the bar high for the rest of our stay. I had the special which was a delicious lobster, prawn and scallop dish and my husband had a perfectly cooked steak. The food and service were outstanding and if we are in the area again we will definitely return.

This is an excellent Restaurant. The atmosphere and views are amazing. The owners work in this Restaurant. Peter is the head chef and Pauline is front of house So everything is perfect and they make sure it is.. The food quality was amazing and reasonably priced. You do have to book as it is very popular.. We will certainly go back when we are next in Dartmouth..

AWFUL! PUBIC HAIR IN SOUP Patronising arrogant owner serves highly over priced pub grub to her audience she likes to hold court over customers. Grubby scratched glasses predominate as well as badly washed cutlery. Watch out for huge mark up on not great wines. Much better within 10 mins walk. Avoid.

Excellent all round, really enjoyed my seabass, great views and service excellent, highly recommend.

What's not to like about this restaurant. The starters and main courses superb. Nicely busy, service was excellent and perfect timing between courses. Couldn't have asked for any better.

Family dinner out to celebrate last night of our stay. We had a table by the window with a great view. The food was superb, clearly made with great care and attention to all the details. Service was excellent too, especially as one of us has a dairy intolerance, and the waitress took time to go through all the options and explaining how they could vary the dish to make it work. The menu was quite varied and I was tempted by so many of the options, it was hard to choose. Very good wine too. Will be back again. Highly recommended.

A nice location looking at the harbour. Superb Sancerre and crab Thermidor starter. Perfectly cooked sea bass and pork schnitzel all delicious. Very tasty coffee and superb service. Would definitely come back. A must visit in Dartmouth.

We had a fantastic time with friends at Taylor's Italian Evening yesterday. Wonderful mushroom arancini with seaweed mayonnaise (all 4 of us had it) then great Italian main dishes - my giant filled pasta shells were absolutely delicious - & really tangy Sicilian lemon sorbet. There is a great atmosphere at these evenings - we will be back on 28th March!

The food and service were excellent. We sat at a window table with views over the Dart and Kingswear Very atmospheric. Lived up to expectations.

There is an elegant and serene ambience in the restaurant which I expect contributes to the frequent descriptions of romantic, though I do not feel this is a couples only venue. We were lucky enough to secure a window seat with lovely views of the River Dart. The food and wine were excellent, as was the service. I would happily return if I found myself in Dartmouth again.

We visited Taylor’s on a quiet & very wet night in Dartmouth but a lovely meal of hot, fresh food with fabulous service made the evening delightful We love eating out in Dartmouth which is known for its choice of fine dining restaurants but in our opinion Taylor’s is the best in town

We came here for dinner on New Years eve with friends visiting from Canada. Scallops and King Prawns to start followed by Pea and Mint soup. For main course Roast loin of Venison (fabulous) and for pudding I had Apricot Sponge pudding and my wife had the Chocolate Ganache. All just delightful. A super friendly atmosphere and the owner, Pauline Shapland, came and chatted and invited us to try out the restaurants NYE quiz. We had a real laugh going through the questions and writing down the teams answer for each and then handed it to Pauline who is going to check our answers and give a prize to the best team score. Come on Pauline you know it's us! If you can get a window seat the view is incredible because it's on the first floor and looks right over the harbour. We were staying on The Quay anyway so parking was not an issue but parking is at a premium sometimes here.

My husband and I spent New Year’s Eve here having a wonderful dinner. The food was amazing and the service fantastic. We sat in the window seat which was lovely overlooking the water. Would definitely return and thoroughly recommend.

Lovely setting, really beautifully relaxed place, staff were fabulous, friendly and extremely nice. Food was incredibly good, and a nice selection of wines. My husband and I have been before, so wanted to bring friends this time, they loved it as much as we did.

After my reservation at a local restaurant was cancelled for my wife’s birthday celebrations I found Taylor’s and a superb evening of food, drinks and service was provided in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Any disappointment of the previous cancellation were quickly removed and we enjoyed a great evening celebrating.
