The best restaurants in Downend South Gloucestershire South West

I absolutely love this family run cafe . Kerry and Rich are so lovely and welcoming. I’m a coffee snob and the coffee here is spot on . I should have put a photo of my breakfast on but I’ve eaten it , lol . The food is beautifully seasoned and very good value for money . There are tables outside but it’s pet friendly anyway . They also do outside catering . Please support this local business.

They don't know what "reservation" means

What a wonderful time we all had at the Sip and Paint evening, despite my level of painting experience being mostly confined to painting the walls, when decorating at home, I really enjoyed the evening, lots of encouragement from everyone, great company, great nibbles, great shots, barrels of laughs, well done to all the staff who organised, can't wait for the next one 😀

Perfect experience. Nice environment. We had the following mixed bag and it was all cooked perfectly: sesame chicken, koftas, oriental noodles (amazing), cheesy chips, scampi, nachos. All as mezze options. Just superb. Staff great too.

We tried their freaky milkshake. It is a great work of presentation. It was too sweat for us. We sat down on the corner therefore it was a bit tight. Lovely stuff tho. I think everyone should try it at least, but don't get too hyped up.

Good basic Chinese food takeaway.

the friendly Indian takeaway with the softest lamb i have ever had ever , if your a lamb fan you simply have to try with pleasure . a well recommended place to have a delivery or collect 5*****

Friendly and professional staff. With food that's a chefs-d'œuvre in its own right, piquant starters and surfeit mains, this business is undoubtedly the foremost hidden gem of the area.

I've tried to mark this place as closed but it hasn't kicked in. We tried to visit on Sunday, but arrived to find the premises vacated and all the doors very closed. A local wandered past and said the pub had shut down about a week ago. So not much point visiting til the situation changes!

Clean tidy good staff and drinks are good

There are, arguably, two reasons to visit Downend. One is on a summer’s afternoon to watch Downend CC play cricket with the bar in full swing and plenty of boundaries being scored as the ground is relatively small; the other is to pay a visit to Melanie’s Kitchen. This delicatessen shop is a positive cornucopia of cheeses, bakery items, biscuits, chutneys, artisan breads etc etc. The man who serves at the cheese counter (who I assume is not Melanie!) is a fountain of knowledge on local cheeses and knows all of the local cheese producers, when their cheeses are at their best and is happy to provide advice to ensure that you will leave well satisfied having enjoyed a sensory and culinary experience second to none. It’s full marks from me.
