One of the best authentic Indian restaurants around offering generous and delicious food with excellent service

Worth every star as far as I'm concerned. Great food great staff. Great night out, totally recommend. Will be going back as soon as possible. Love this place.

I have eaten out in many Indian restaurants and this was not a disappointment. I'm my opinion it's overall rating should be higher.

Horrendous experience. Avoid at all cost. left me thoroughly disappointed. The waitstaff displayed a shocking lack of courtesy, making the dining experience unpleasant. To make matters worse, the food was far from appetizing, with flavors that left much to be desired. I strongly advise against subjecting your taste buds to such a dismal culinary experience. I highly recommend Shadin which is just up the road

Staying overnight in Bristol and all restaurants close at 9pm except Tamarind. Was so grateful they were still open when we got there about 9.45pm. All the drinks are non alcoholic, but you can buy and bring your own they will charge you for the use of the glass for around £1.20. I had the lamb cooked with pineapple and lychee with plain butter naan. My partner had lamb sag with pilau rice. The restaurant was empty so our order came very quickly. Freshly cooked and piping hot. The menu list the dishes according to spice level, thank you. This saves me asking the staff and deciding what I can and can't eat. My chosen meal was from the mild section and my partner chose his from the hot section. The restaurant was clean and the staff were polite and welcoming. No complaints, highly recommend.

Had a table booked for 5.30pm on a Saturday. Place was fairly busy when we arrived. It was packed and very lively wren we left at about 8pm. Good range of fresh dishes available. No one left hungry! All plates were sent back empty

Very wide selection of Indian food, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere. Note that alcoholic drinks are not provided, but you can bring your own (£1.50 corkage), and non-alcoholic drinks are provided.

Without a doubt the best curry house in the area. Food is always incredible, fast and service is second to none. All of the staff are so polite and helpful- will always come here for a 10/10 experience.

Just love this place. Always busy but I think the prices have crept up like most other restaurants

Decent place, nice seating arrangement. Vindaloo curry was very runny and made my bum bum sore. As I was leaving one of the twins tried to r*pe me, lucky I had a rift to go and got out of there before it was too late!! Overall terrible experience, please avoid

Take out food always good quality, but guy behind bar serving was rude. I expect the excuse is they were very busy.

One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve dined in, the food was sublime, absolutely delicious! The peshwari nann bread was the best I’ve ever eaten. Lovely staff, nice atmosphere and really good value. I will be back again for sure!

The food was fantastic, the service was great and there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant. It was the first time however that I've had a corking charge added to a bill. We were supplied with 4 glasses for drinks that we opened. It was £6 added to the bill. Something to bare in mind but please don't let it put you off eating here. It was a great experience and I shall return.

Simply the best curry house in Bristol!!!

No atmosphere at all. No friendly welcome!! Food was sooooo sweet and nothing like a Korma. Mango chutney was like water. Have been before a few years ago and was lovely. But not this time!! Never again

Sad to say that was probably the worst Indian meal I have had.The poppadoms and chutneys were fine but the main course that my eldest son and I had were not good.I had a medium Rogan Josh which was really bland,not much if any heat at all,my son had Chili Chicken,a hot curry and that was the same.Sorry to say we won't be going there again.

Terrible service. Went in on our way home asked if we could give order for takeout and was told to go to back desk waiter asked if we knew what we wanted we said yes .. then another waiter said No we have to phone our order online 🤷‍♀️ really. Won’t ever recommend them again. Went to lovely fish n chips instead 👍

I recently had a disappointing experience dining in at Tamarind. The food was average, but what made the experience particularly frustrating was the poor customer service. We had made a reservation for a group, but one part of our group arrived 30 minutes late due to unforeseen circumstances. When they arrived, the restaurant staff refused to allow them to order any food, even though the rest of us were still eating. The staff was unapologetic and unaccommodating, and this left a sour taste in our mouths. The bland food combined with the poor customer service made for a disappointing dining experience overall. I hope that Tamarind takes steps to improve their customer service and be more accommodating to unexpected delays in the future. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

I am now at this restaurant I have never ever experience such poor service and terrible attitude from the management in all my days of visiting this type of restaurant. Unless I wanted to have my legs and arms cut off I will never come here afgain

Papadums were grilled and sauces very runny as though they were watered down. Ordered two different vegetarian curries and they tasted nearly identical and very average. Also found a random sprout and half a squashed lime in one of the curries. Just weird.

A lovely meal with great service! They aren't licensed, but they will store any alcoholic drinks in a fridge for you, and there's a Sainsbury's across the way. Their food is amazing, I haven't yet come across anything on their menu that's bad, and there's a wide range of options for various spice tolerances and dietary requirements. Booking is advised!

Moaned that we were 4 min late then took over a hour for any food to come out, then the man uses his hand to wipe something off the plate! Chicken dry Af. Overall bad service and not great food. Will not be returning

Very nice food spoilt by poor customer service. The staff aren't very friendly, borderline rude at times, and you always feel rushed. Doesn't make for a relaxing night out. You'd think with the amount of reviews saying the same thing that they'd try and address it.

Although we didn't have a table booked we were seated and seen really quickly. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was served quickly and it was delicious with a lot of choices. The only reason I haven't given 5*'s is because it was so hot inside, we weren't prepared for how hot it would be as it was our first time. It was a shame because it meant we didn't feel up to staying for dessert as it became uncomfortable in the heat. I'd definitely recommend it for the food and service though, just make sure you wear something cooler and not denim dungarees like I did 😅

We came here for a family meal to celebrate my grandfather’s 90th birthday and had a wonderful time! The food was great, and the customer service was excellent. The staff were very attentive to my grandfather, moving the table so that he could sit on the sofa and making sure he had a lovely meal. They even surprised him by bringing out a birthday cake and singing him Happy Birthday after our mains! This extra touch really made my grandfather’s day. Thank you so much for helping to give a 90 year old gentleman a great birthday! I look forward to visiting again.

Great, went for my girlfriends, mums birthday meal. Food was amazing, each curry was individually flavoured. Big shout out to all the staff. We felt at ease through out the meal and never felt rushed. The manager, dealt with a unruly customer, with utter professionalism. This individual was abhorrently rude to the staff. Customer service is zero.we felt un welcome and curry was cold chicken koma had no flavour at all,rice was over cooked and we were rushed to finish and leave when he came to clear up he just just bend over our head to pick plates,.staff looked very un happy no names badges.

I’m surprised to see some reviews stating the staff were rude, it was quite the opposite on our visit. Staff were friendly and polite, checked the food was ok once served, monitored drinks without being intrusive. The manager also overheard us discussing one of our party’s birthday, which we were out celebrating, and arranged a cake without our knowledge or any additional cost. The food was great and good value for money. Would thoroughly recommend this place. I’ve been several times and the experience I describe is consistent every visit.

Difficult to rate this place. The food is excellent! However the service not so much. Sat down and ordered a chutney tray as a starter. The staff kept coming over to ask if we were ready for our mains yet. Within 25 mins of sitting down they came over 4 times! We were clearly still eating, they were even asking while we had food in our mouths!! I have eaten here before and did feel very rushed that time aswell but I thought maybe a one off and I would try again, this time it was even worse. Not the relaxing, enjoyable evening myself and my friend were looking forward to, not at all! Such a shame as the food is great but the service let's the whole experience down.

Very overated. The food was bland, and some undercooked. When I questioned the undercooked for he was waving it in my face. Then we got surrounded by staff trying to intimidate us, staring at us and talking about us, it's not the first time I have seen this intimidation tactic worked in here. Never going to this hole again.

Great food, great service, clean and tidy restaurant... What more could you want?... (If it's alcohol, then don't visit here, as they only serve alcohol free drinks, which includes wine and beers).

Food is excellent, we've had takeaway many times. The main man takes payment and checks what comes out of the kitchen matches our order with no issues. I've tried small talk but for some reason we're not part of his in crowd, he opts to be short, abrupt and very transactional...why won't he like me :-( ?

This place is really good, usually when wanting to go out for a local Indian, this is the place I go to (for many years). The food is very good (not had a bad experience yet) and reasonably priced for an Indian restaurant and the staff are helpful and they are fine with you taking food home as I invariably get a starter, main, rice and naan and it's too much but still do it anyway.

Not very friendly staff, everything seemed to much trouble. Also £6 for corkage when you bring your own drink and need no help with it so what exactly am I paying for?

We were looking forward to dining here but meal was quite bland. 4 different dishes all tasting very similar, chicken was dry. The lamb should have melted in your mouth but it was chewy and dry. Nice surroundings and staff ok but will eat somewhere else next time.

Recently been to urban tandor and I think tamarinds curry is better. Service was excellent with friendly staff, it’s byo but we had water with our meal which was needed because of my excellent vindaloo. There was no pressure to leave. Definitely heading back very soon. Well done boys 👏

Whether we eat in, or get a takeaway, it's always a treat when we go to the Tamarind. The food is consistently great, the staff are welcoming and friendly, it's the best curry around.
