Sure, here’s a short and positive feedback comment about enjoying an English breakfast and coffee at a historic and charming coffee shop: --- "We had an absolutely delightful experience at this charming, historic coffee shop. The atmosphere was wonderfully authentic, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed morning. The English breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented, and the coffee was rich and flavorful. Mr boss Mr Kenan and The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to our enjoyable visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking to start their day with a touch of history and great food! ☕🍳✨"

Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning, after visiting a larger coffee shop up the road which we left before ordering due to the rudeness of the staff. We sat outside as we have a dog. Owners/staff are so friendly and polite, service was welcoming and quick and the portions were big. Food was tasty, we had cake and eggs floratine. Couldn't find anything to fault. Little gem of a place 👍

The food is good quality and portion size is generous. You can help yourself to a complimentary bowl of salad for their salad bar with any hot meal. My only complaint about the place is that the music is too loud, which makes it hard to have a conversation. This is a shame as it will undoubtedly put people off who want to meet someone for a catch up.

Freshly Ground is a coffee shop on Downend High Street. It's got a quiet atmosphere, some homely decor, and a fine selection of drinks. I'm not sure the opening times are up to date (they were closing early compared to the displayed opening times on the side), but they're a nice place and with a fair bit of local competition, they make their unique stake by having the most comfortable looking facilities. The wooden aesthetic is a win.

Appalling food and service. My husband and his friend went this morning and he ordered poached eggs on toast. His friends food arrived, after waiting another 5 minutes his food arrived. The lady said the first lot of eggs went wrong. The 4 pieces of burnt toast were now soggy , the eggs rock hard and inedible. My husband took it back to the counter - no apology just gave him his money back. Take poached eggs off your menu and book yourself on a customer service course!! . AVOID !!!

Poeple leaving good reviews can't possibly have had breakfast at this place. The coffee tastes fine indeed, but the food is of very poor quality and badly prepared. Mother-in-law ordered a sandwish, it was terribly overgrilled and we could see the burnt parts of the baguette had been scrapped with a knife before the sandwish was served. I ordered a tower breakfast : - one fried egg was broken and both were overcooked - the sausages were possibly the worse I ever had, the type of saussage that is 30% pork meat and 70% soy etc... (possibly frozen as well) - half a tomato - no idea why they serve this with a terrible burger bun instead of bread slices - potato wedges and hash brown were fine. Never again. Just avoid.

Another sunny January day, but with a bitingly-cold breeze, meant the 25 minute stroll to Downend called for a much-needed post-walk hot drink. Downend has at least three eateries in the High Street where you can get a reasonable coffee and we chose this one. It was not very busy and we were able to sit in a window seat (always good to watch the world-go-by). We studied the menu displayed on a big blackboard: coffee was a must, so two Americo with hot milk. Also an Eggs Benedict for me as I wanted a small snack for lunch; as it was just on 12:30. My partner decided she would forego lunch in pursuit of her ongoing diet. The interior of the café is pleasant with Chesterfield-style sofa(s), plants and wall art. The large photo of the High Street was very interesting and I would love to know when the photo was taken. I lived in Downend between the ages of 2 and 7, and I recall some of the town as it was. This café operates an ‘order-at-the-counter’ service but food is served to tables. It was not a long wait for the food and it was bigger than expected. The muffin had been sliced in half and two beautifully poached eggs were placed on top, together with a small slice of slice of smoked salmon and then a good Hollandaise sauce was poured on top. The addition of two potato hash browns (as specified on the menu) turned this snack into a bit more than I probably needed. The meal was excellent and coffee was good (but my partner’s preference is for very strong and bitter coffee; and this coffee wasn’t as strong enough).

Nice little cafe if a little tight on space inside. I met friends for a coffee and a sandwich here and I think we must’ve picked a particularly busy Wednesday lunchtime as the staff seemed very busy and a little overwhelmed. However they were perfectly pleasant when they were able to serve me. I found it a little unusual the cafe had no menus. Instead we were told we had to choice from menu chalk boards dotted around the room. There was a large board on the wall near the front of the cafe and a smaller one over an archway, neither of which we could see from our table as we were sat at the very back of the cafe. I felt a little sorry for the family sat behind us as they also couldn’t see the menu boards either and had several small children and elderly relatives with them so it was quite a chore for them to relay menu options by shouting across the cafe. I would suggest visitors choose food options as soon as you walk in, before getting a table, as it’ll save a lot of faff later on. Our table had a child’s high chair & clear shower curtain wedged next it. I imagine this was used as a divider between tables when Covid restrictions were tighter but none of them were being used on the day we were there and actually got in the way of the family seated behind us. Our sandwiches were perfectly fine and we shared a small bowl of chips which were nice on a cold autumnal day. I would go here again but I think I’d just have coffee and skip the food. Or possibly go at a different day or time.

By chance I happened along this wonderful little coffee shop in Downend near Bristol. Outside it is extremely well presented and only matched by the excellence of the cosy comfortable presentation inside. I've added a picture of the staff who were there on the day who gave me excellent service, They were friendly, helpful and professional creating the impression that nothing would be to much trouble. The menu is creative yet familiar and the service timely, efficient and friendly. I witnessed a coffee cautious customer being guided through the options without even a hint of the condescending tone you might experience elsewhere. The drinks are of average price but of liberal size and very nice. I had a Hazelnut Cappuccino which was delicious, good helping of syrup which is unusual for some cafés where the scrimp a bit. My wife, a stern hot chocolate critic also liked the hot chocolate (perhaps a tad sweet but still). Didn't have cake or food but what I did see other eat was very nice. The staff are friendly, cash only is a pain...can't see why they can't except cards and adjust their prices as such. The food is average, nothing to write down about. The free biscuit on the side of your coffee is a nice touch. I've never really liked the coffees there though, too milky with a strange after taste. Amazing! The Bolero Lounge accommodated 33 people for a staff party and were Absolutely Fabulous! They kept in contact in the run up to the event and were on hand to answer my relentless questions and concerns, on the day they ensured we were happy for food to be served and managed to get all meals out in a timely manner with no issues; as well as accommodating all dietary needs! They were super accommodating throughout and even split the bill for each individual at the end of the night! The staff were absolutely amazing both on the day and in the lead up to the event - special shout out to Micheal who never failed to go the extra mile! Cannot fault them at all and would recommend to anyone!

If we decide to go out for breakfast on a special occasion (birthday) we usually go to somewhere else close to The Beehive, but decided to try the beehive, to support another local business. We ordered some coffees, which were nice and also ordered two English breakfasts. The breakfasts were tasteless, definitely cheap produce and everything was cooked in a lot of oil. Weatherspoons would have been a better breakfast! It's such a shame as you want to support local businesses, but often you can be disappointed. Won't be going back for food.

Went to celebrate a birthday on 2nd Dec. The decor and atmosphere were warm and lovely, the food was gorgeous and the staff were wonderful. I forget the name of the chap who served us (Valor?) but he was kind, friendly, helpful and funny. Good cider too! It was quite expensive but honestly it was worth it, especially as a gluten intolerant vegetarian... So many good options.
