**Five-Star Review for The Old Lock and Weir's Sunday Roast** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently enjoyed the Sunday roast at The Old Lock and Weir, and it was an incredible experience! I opted for the trio of roast meats, and I’m so glad I did. Each type of meat was incredibly tender and bursting with flavor, truly a meat lover's dream. The homemade rich, thick gravy was the star of the show—so delicious that I didn’t even need any additional sauce. It perfectly complemented the succulent meats and made the entire dish feel indulgent. The service was outstanding, with Dan and the bar staff providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere. They were attentive without being intrusive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The ambiance of the pub is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a hearty Sunday feast. I can't recommend The Old Lock and Weir enough for their Sunday roast—it’s a must-try! I’ll definitely be back for more! Compliments to the chef Lauren and Maddie and all staff.

A great pub in a lovely location. We came across the pub and the staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. We were fortunate enough to get a table for the Sunday roast and it was superb. Wanted to go to somewhere near to Kingswood and was I pressed by the photos I saw online for The Old Lock & Weir, made the booking online which was very quick and straight forward. On arrival we were greeted warmly by the team, and also by Jess, a rather fabulous black lab (say hello, make a fuss, she's wonderful). Table, drinks, and menus sorted quickly. We chose to sit inside as it was a bit dark/cold out (October visit), but I would imagine it's spectacular in the summer to sit outside with the river running by. Chicken wings and greaded garlic mushrooms for our starters which arrived promptly and were great. For our mains we had the gammon (eggs AND pineapple!), and the BBQ ribs, they did not disappointed. Excellent portion sizes and very good value for money. Bill was about £70 for the two of us, that was for 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 lagers, 1 bottled lager, and 2 soft drinks. I felt this was very good value for money based on the lovely food, the excellent portion sizes, and the interaction/conversations we enjoyed with the team whilst we were there. Jess was an added bonus (adorable). Will definitely be returning, and would like tonvisit in the spring/summer to experience the outdoor option also. Thank you for your hospitality and lovely food, we both had a really nice evening with you.

Been coming here for many years. Food menu and quality has been greatly improved in recent times. I visited today and had the pulled beef brisket loaded fries topped with cheese, bbq sauce, chilli’s and spring onion. Absolutely fantastic dish, full of flavour, brisket was tender as, and those chilli’s provide the right amount of kick! Lovely stuff! The team are always friendly and service is top notch. Great selection of draught and bottled drinks. One of a few places to sell Beavertown - Neck Oil (pricey, as always, yet one of my personal favourites and worth it). Nice refurb as well recently. If you’re local to the area, go support this fantastic pub, situated in the most idyllic location. If you’re not local to the area, it’s definitely worth the trip!

The Sunday Roast Experience continues its upward curve here at this popular riverside pub. This Sunday, the last week in June, we walked from Easton (although in my case, farther away, up by the cricket ground - this is important as it forms part of my middle-class background) all the way to Keynsham. By design we arrived at the Old Lock & Weir just after noon and ordered roast chicken. As usual, the serving crew are cheerful kids, attentive and looking good in matching T shirts, black pinnies & trousers. They’re all equally energetic, polite and a credit to the establishment. The food arrived promptly, considering that at least five parties had beaten us to it. The chicken was cooked perfectly - crisp golden skin, piping hot & moist plump meat. A scattering of veg, lots of silky salty brown gravy, s&o stuffing, roast pot.s and a nice fat Yorkshire. Nice. The epitome of a good hot brown-food meal. I like what they do here. I hope they guys won’t mind when I say that they’re aiming firmly to please their core customers of local working-class drinkers, who like a decent plateful, at a pleasant riverside spot. Over the years that I’ve been coming here (too many to mention…) the owners have slowly and surely upped their game so that the place has now a pleasant, clean and well-looked-after look and feel. And while the food is nothing special, (and in fairness, I don't think the team mean it to be posh and high-fallutin’) it IS appetizing, tasty and good value for money and a pleasure to scoff after a five mile walk.

Old fashioned long established boozer, perfect for local families. Sunday roast is very basic, very brown and all very soft, covered with glossy, salty & savoury gravy. Some nice sounding vegetarian options, too. Family operated establishment, lots of slightly shy looking youngsters doing a sterling job of serving, a slick operation with food usually appearing within minutes of it being ordered. Rather ordinary beer / cider selection, but the usual keg suspects should keep happy those simply after a glass of something to wash the food down. The place is never going to win a Michelin star, but it does what it does efficiently reliably and cheerfully. Notable is the small portion of the meat options - see the picture the menu I posted. Great for those with smaller appetites.

I am the first to accept that we were way too early for our booked inside table. So we ate outside in the marquee. Quantity was more than sufficient. Much of the food was lukewarm at best: the potatoes so crispy as to be almost inedible: I understand costs are higher in the city and I would not say it was value for money. Judging by the amount of water we have drunk since being home I would suggest: less salt:smaller portions: food that is hot!

We eat out most Sundays, if we can. Trying different places. This is hands down THE best roast, we've eaten for years. It needs to be better than I can cook at home, and this was outstanding. Everything was cooked to perfection, thick tasty Gravy, really cheesey Cauliflower cheese, crisp fresh roasters, 4 meats to choose from including a trio of meats option. This is now the only place we could possibly go for a roast, everywhere else just pales. It's by the river, and lovely in the summer.great choice of ciders. Brilliant

This pub is in a great location by the river with a marquee for outside gatherings, however there is no disabled loo so we used the pub next door and felt obliged to have a drink there which took us away from our own gathering. It would be good if they had an arrangement with the next door pub as their own facilities are limited. The ladies toilets were really dirty. Food was good but I'm not sure I would trust the kitchen hygiene when the bathroom hygiene was so poor.

Had hands down the worst roast dinner I've ever had here. Online it says they serve food until 16:30, turned up at 15:50 and were told the kitchen was closed, a manager then went to tell the kitchen that they still had to make our food. The food came out in less than 5 minutes and consisted of waterlogged boiled carrots and broccoli, a white mushy mess of what I can only assume to be cauliflower cheese, stuffing from a packet, cold Yorkshire pudding and potatoes and two bits of beef that had the same texture and flavour as a bit of old shoe leather all for the low low price of 16 quid. Couldn't stomach even a 3rd of it, Even my dog was a bit anxious to eat it at first. Shame because the staff are really nice.

Good range of keggy ciders and beers, mainly from the St Austell range. Cheerful gang of youngsters serving food and drink, from a wide-ranging menu, with all the usual standards, with choices straight from the fryer making a frequent appearance. Watching the world go by with lot's of families, people walking, cycling and even paddle boarding in the river made it a good afternoon. Great atmosphere and the food was good. Sunday roasts, burgers, chips, hot dogs coming out all the time with lots of Thatchers flowing as well. £5.05 for a pint, with the burgers around £6 isn't too bad when you've got it all being freshly cooked while you wait. The roasts started at £14.50 and appeared to be coming out on a conveyor belt 😳👍 The staff were working hard to keep everyone happy and their efforts were noted by more than just the wife and myself. Amazing! The Bolero Lounge accommodated 33 people for a staff party and were Absolutely Fabulous! They kept in contact in the run up to the event and were on hand to answer my relentless questions and concerns, on the day they ensured we were happy for food to be served and managed to get all meals out in a timely manner with no issues; as well as accommodating all dietary needs! They were super accommodating throughout and even split the bill for each individual at the end of the night! The staff were absolutely amazing both on the day and in the lead up to the event - special shout out to Micheal who never failed to go the extra mile! Cannot fault them at all and would recommend to anyone!

If we decide to go out for breakfast on a special occasion (birthday) we usually go to somewhere else close to The Beehive, but decided to try the beehive, to support another local business. We ordered some coffees, which were nice and also ordered two English breakfasts. The breakfasts were tasteless, definitely cheap produce and everything was cooked in a lot of oil. Weatherspoons would have been a better breakfast! It's such a shame as you want to support local businesses, but often you can be disappointed. Won't be going back for food.
