Absolutely disgusting hospital food, inedible and massively overpriced. They served me a ramekin of “cheese and potato pie” which turned out to be instant mash with cheese chucked on the top. I wouldn’t serve it to my nan.

I have used this cafe many times over the last 13 years, and never had cause to complain. I have used it for events weekly, taking large groups of Over 50's ladies to coffee and chat there over the summer months. To say I have spent well over £1,000 there over the years (without my Over 50's ladies group spend) is conservative. On 31/7/24 I had a hip replacement and naturally have been very cautious during my recovery, as it is possible to dislocate your hip in the immediate aftermath of the surgery. I was very excited when my son suggested taking me to my favourite coffee shop for a trip out. I sat down on a chair outside on the decking and the back left leg of the chair went through the (rotten) decking by several mms, jolting the chair sideways. I fell slightly and saved myself putting my stick down on the deck to stabilise myself and my family member got me off the chair. I thought they would be pleased I tried to refer this to management as an older person might not have been able to save themselves and could have fallen to the ground. There was (I am told) no manager available to talk to. I was asked if I was ok, but the more senior lady on the jewellery section just told me to go and report it to kids who looked no more than 17 who were serving at the cafe, who I am sure knew nothing about health and safety. A lovely empathetic older cafe worker was then found to help me, and our table was moved and a yellow sign put over the hole. I then went to pick up my bag and move to another table and my stick went right through another part of the decking near the table going down several inches, causing another jolt. I attach some pictures of the holes. What annoyed me was that the jewellery 'manager' felt I was 'overdramatising' (we'll wait till she has a hip replacement and her crutch falls through decking and she can feel what that is like) and felt that customers should not put their chair legs on the edge of rotten wood (Photos show it was not the edge). Of course, they have taken photos of a part of the wood that minimises the appearance of the holes, as they don't want to appear liable, however, I am not sure they have a clear understanding of health and safety legislation in regard to customer eating areas. I had arranged a meet-up of my over 50's group at the cafe next week, but I have yet to receive an apology, and even if I did, there is no way I would risk sitting on that decking again. I also set up Accessibility Thornbury and have warned my members there. Profit over customer service, no thanks! ...We're off to Hawkes House for the weekly meetings for the foreseeable future.

Absolutely amazing, lovely pub with so much to offer. You can sit inside or outside. Decided to have a roast lunch and OMG when it arrived, it looked just like how I serve. Loads, thrown on (and I mean that in a nice way) and lovely thick gravy. None of your separate pots, etc, but a typical Sunday lunch at mums. It tasted so so good and was hot and delicious 😋. Looking for to going there again.

The Swan is an excellent "local" away from home. I don't live ih Thornbury but this is always my "go to" pub. It used to be an old coaching in and still has a lot of the old features (flagstone floors to the entrance, older architecture). Inside is cosy and warm. Drink selection is amazing catering for all tastes from sweet ciders to the "proper" dry Blackthorn. Real ales rotate so there's always something new and interesting. Food is also excellent. Their sharing platters keep you well fed and ever changing specials board for something different. 5 stars.

Located in the quaint little town of Thornbury near Bristol, this pub and guest house offer a lovely, warm welcome. All the staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to help you out. They only have 3 guest bedrooms as this is an old coaching house. But the rooms are quite spacious and comfortable and well equipped. We only spent 2 nights there, but we were made to feel like part of their family. I would highly recommend the Swan to anyone wanting to stay around this area or wanting a nice drink in a warm and welcoming pub.

The owners of this pub support fox hunting - every year on boxing day welcoming the hunters that hunt foxes with dogs illegally. The owner says all businesses do it! None like the Swan and this is where they all gather - The Swan allows the hunters to drink whilst on their horses' backs and they advertise themselves as a place for hunters. Disgusting - DON'T SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS! Animal cruelty!

Lunch meal & drinks with family and friends... Beautiful rear garden area, benches and tables with sun shades. Disappointing limited lunch menu, so opted for best we could with Coronation Chicken sandwich... at £6.50 expected something more than we got...a bread roll with 3 slices of (from a packet) chicken breast, dollop of Coronation dressing, salad leaf and some mango chutney... very underwhelming ! No side salad, no chips (these items were not listed as included, so i guess we should not be shocked)... just the filled roll on a plate. Kids meal was £6 for 'dipping plate'... this was a few (perhaps 12) carrot sticks, cucumber, pepper and approx table spoon of humous. Poor value, poor presentation... along with 2 coffees and a scone, it came to £21... it was a light snack at best' for £21. Our first, and last, visit.

Ordered toasted sandwiches and coffee. Requested the cafetière hoping for two cups rather than an Americano. At the counter the server smiled politely and took order but the other member of staff making coffee looked they wanted to be anywhere else but there. Drank first cup of coffee a bit bitter but thought it was just the brand of coffee but decided to open up cafetière and found the plunger was filthy. These needs cleaning on each use to prevent old coffee grinds hanging around affecting taste of next brew. As we were leaving member of staff cleared table so I pointed it out. She just said it’s stained. So my comments were dismissed on the spot. Disappointing response. ‘Turns out, coffee leaves behind quite a bit of oily residue on the plunger screen and inside the pot. Hot water alone will not get rid of it, and after time those oils can turn rancid and affect the taste of your coffee’ from I need coffee.com

Went here just after 12pm for a bowl of soup. You'd think that would be fairly straightforward, wouldn't you? In fact it was some 20 minutes before we actually had our soup. This was after 10 minutes queuing (despite there being only 4 people in the queue) and nearly 10 minutes waiting for the soup. Even then I had to waylay the member of staff with it, as she was heading for the other part of the cafe. In the meantime tables were not being cleared and people were having to pile up dirty crockery at the side. I came here once before mid-morning and it was OK, but lunchtime was a different story. More staff or more efficient staff are needed, and more obvious table numbers so that they can actually see them when bringing food out. Also the soup tasted OK but looked very unappetising. Even a token sprig of garnish on top would have helped.

A very decent lunch menu and some very impressive cakes. The garden will be an added bonus in Summer. The staff were bright, friendly and chirpy. An excellent visit, sadly ruined by a horde of screaming children left to cause mayhem by their inattentive mothers. Positioning the child's toy table in the middle of the smaller seating area was perhaps the only downfall. The scattered lego on the floor could cause a fall for someone carrying hot coffee. The assistant reached under the counter and pulled out a clean spoon, not by the handle but held by the bowl of the spoon, which was then almost tossed onto the tray.

Love shopping in Papilio, I can normally find a perfect present and card for family and friends from here. They have a great cafe out the back with a lovely garden to sit in in the summer months.

I've visited this cafe fairly regularly over the years as I live reasonably locally and always like to support local businesses and I actually think it's a cracking little business overall with a great selection of cards and gifts, and the cafe is a little gem of a site with a very pleasant garden.

Called in here on Saturday just to switch off and relax. The staff were extremely helpful and first thing I was asked if I wanted a glass of water while I waited for the others.

Found this cafe through trip advisor as you may not notice it exists from the front. You go in through a shop and out the back is a cafe with lovely modern indoor seating but there is also decking outside so it is lovely to sit out in the sun in. Really fresh big cakes and reasonable prices. They also do paninis/sandwiches/jacket potatoes and quiches if you fancy something savoury. Definitely well worth a visit for lunch or a snack in Thornbury. Service was really friendly

Found this cafe hiding at the back of an interesting shop on the main street. Well worth a visit if in Thornbury. The coffee was good and the cakes and snacks also looked good and were proving popular with the clientele.

Called in with my family whilst visiting friends. The Sunday lunch was superb, plenty of food and perfectly cooked beef. My wife had the vegetarian option and she said it was the best one she has had (we visit chef and brewer brand a lot) this is one of the best we have been to. Great service and a really nice place

If we decide to go out for breakfast on a special occasion (birthday) we usually go to somewhere else close to The Beehive, but decided to try the beehive, to support another local business. We ordered some coffees, which were nice and also ordered two English breakfasts. The breakfasts were tasteless, definitely cheap produce and everything was cooked in a lot of oil. Weatherspoons would have been a better breakfast! It's such a shame as you want to support local businesses, but often you can be disappointed. Won't be going back for food.

Great service and sensibly priced cocktails. A hidden gem for a pre- dinner drink
