Mokka Blc in South Gloucestershire

Went for my mums 76th birthday today, it was a group of 19 of us so a pretty large party, and we couldn’t have been more impressed with the place. The food was delicious, the mokka burger was huge, well worth a try, they let us settle in for a while before bringing the food out, and were so friendly and professional. We’ll definitely be back. They even found a candle as I’d forgotten them for a cake for my mum. Thanks so much all at Mokka.

Very busy here. The oldies love it . Resulting in slow service. The coffees and food are very nice. Avoid sitting by the windows as the sun glares in and boils your blood. You can ask for the blind to be lowered though.

My first visit in December and was delighted to be given table service. Plenty of space when I went just after lunch.

Visited this lovely place with a group of friends. It has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food and drinks. It's nice that it's not a large chain although I believe there are a few locations. They cater for different dietary requirements too. It's great for meals, light bites, cakes and drinks both hot and cold.

I was really impressed with the food here. I had the chicken skewers and they were delicious and a good sized portion. Service was lovely and a nice atmosphere.

Not a chip eating person, already overweight so l tend to keep to the unfried variety of foods, where possible.78th birthday so l thought ' what the heck' .......give the cat a goldfish and push the boat out.Meal was lovely other than those over done skimpy chips( possibly) l am still not sure on reflection.Place was nice , clean, attentive staff and a lively ambience, Prosecco night, l was told so the ambience was right up there with a rock band in full flow, good job my hearing is not what it once was.All in all a reasonable experience let down by those dang chips, a poor choice on my part l suspect.Would l go back........well not next week but certainly in the future, now l am forwarned.Give it a go as it might just be my Victor Meldew nature coming out in this review although l feel its my unbiased opinion.

We were seeking a casual but high quality breakfast venue for a family catch up. We booked via the website the evening before, for a Sat morning table, although we would have been accommodated anyway. The staff were prompt taking drinks and food orders. We had a veggie breakfast and various egg muffin mains. All of the meals were spot on and perfectly cooked. The bread and halloumi were especially good. Would a absolutely stop by again!

3rd time I have been here, I wasn't keen to go again, but it was my friends choice. Defo wont be a 4th visit, staff are so miserable and unfriendly. If we weren't buying meals and had just wanted a drink, I got the impression they wouldn't give you a table. very limoted food choice

What a cracking café..... breakfast was fabulous and so filling.

Would be 5 stars, but way too noisy. I go to nightclubs all the time, dj in clubs etc, but I find it really hard not to walk away without a headache after being in Mokka. Please invest in some sound deadening material to absorb the sound that is bouncing around on all the fiat surfaces due to people having a great time.

Came here on the weekend for a Prosecco brunch and for the price it was not worth it. We were sat right at the back and we had to go up to ask for more drinks. I had 4 glasses the whole time we were there. Wouldn't recommend, been to the keynsham one and service and atmosphere was great.

Lovely service here came as a large group, and we were well looked after. The food came out quick, and there was plenty of choice. It is reasonable priced too and I would recommend it, would come back again.

Delicious food, great variety of small plates,snacks and main meals. Brilliant cocktails and tasty cheesecake. The relaxing environment was just right and music not too loud. Staff were friendly and informative.

We visited for the first time and had a wonderful breakfast. The service was quick, the staff were exceptionally attentive and the food was wonderful. We will certainly be back!

Extremely rude waitress. Mokka appears in a Google search as dog friendly but isn’t. Waitress was rude and dismissive. I won’t be going back there! Ended up at the duck and Willow instead. Dog friendly, lovely food and much better service. To confirm the waitress was rude and Mokka does appear in searches for dog friendly restaurants. Your response to my review only backs up my experience, very disappointing

Went to Mokka last night with 2 friends. We enjoyed the bottomless brunch priced at £37.50. Mario the guy who served us was super helpful, he was chatty and fun, he kept our drinks suitably topped up, we had great service from him and the female waitress also. The food was lovely, and the portions for tapas plates were generous. All in all great service, great food served by great staff meant we had a great night!! We will be back for sure. Thanks guys!!

Spotted this place as we were passing through so popped in for lunch. Has a great variety of food choices, which is quite rare these days, and all really good value, portions are generous too. We both had the paninis which were very tasty! Love the decor and layout, plenty of seating and convenient free car park right next door. Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Mokka in Downend is a solid breakfast spot. Their "large" breakfast really is large – perfect for hungry souls! The hash browns were a standout, crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. Coffee was decent too, just how I like it. Good value for money and friendly service. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Second time I’ve visited mokka after at least a year and the same person stands out as not very friendly. As front of house of any kind that’s part of his job so it would be nice. Stocky with short brown hair, appeared to be the manager, did not smile once during any of our brief interactions. Not rude but not particularly welcoming. Other than that the female staff and nice and the food is decent

We came in, we were ignored for 10 min, then sent to corner table and ignored again while they served another table who came in after us. We left and no one cared. Never again

Wonderful food. I had chicken souvlaki on flatbread. So tasty and plenty 🤤 f it. We didn't have room for a dessert. Next time will share some small plates and have dessert cos they look 🤤

A great lunch, portions are really big, so great value for money Nice to sit outside in the sun and watch the world go by Highly recommended the panini's and the bbq pulled pork jacket potato, my favourite Just make sure you select the size of Pepsi that you want because they default to the large one.... Oh, and they add a service charge so be careful about this

Great eatery and fantastic cocktails at a very good price. We love coming here for tapas and cocktails. We will of course be back! Unfortunately not dog friendly inside but we've often sat outside with our pooch on a sunny day 😊

Ordered 2 breakfasts. Sausage and bacon were so tough they were practically inedible. My partners was also cold. They replaced one sausage when partner complained and shoved the plate under the lamp for a few mins to heat up. No apology offered when we commented on poor food quality, in fact manager was quite rude. Very obviously not cooked fresh, food arrived within 5 mins of ordering. Also no flexibility on breakfast-no swaps at all, probably as they’ve got them all lined up out back ready to go. Note that restaurant was not at all busy when we went, so no excuse for poor service and poor food.

Waited 15 mins for service only after reminder at the counter were we served. Coffee was OK and cake was very dry. When paying the bill we were overcharged . No problem refunding but not sure why it happened as they were not busy? Will pop in again soon as I hate giving poor reviews everybody deserves another chance, maybe it was an off day?

What a nice surprise, menu is limited but has a good choice. Staff happy and helpful, as 11 of us went out for a meal we had to pre-order and pre-book, £10 deposit paid per person (which I ca understand). Meals all arrived at the same time which was good. Seating was a bit cramped but we were all seated together and enough space to eat properly. Price was very reasonable and we were not rushed to eat meal and go. Parking to rear of building and access to other shops, surprised how big parking area was.

Very loud, but excellent food, wrong jacket potato brought out initially but handled well.

Great choice for lunch/brunch. Plenty of small plate choices are suitable for sharing, plus delicious entrees and cocktails. Service was good, prompt, and accommodating. Save space for dessert.

Great place that serves coffee late! 2 for 1 cocktails too and delicious cheesy garlic bread! Unfortunately not dog friendly inside but cosy and welcoming atmosphere.

The food is just standard really, nothing special or particularly flavoursome. but I suppose it’s not meant to be anything extraordinary. Still a decent enough place to go for an easy meal out but definitely doesn’t compete with the restaurants in Bristol.

I love this place, I go fairly regularly to catch up with a friend and no matter what food or drink we choose, it is always delicious. The chicken burger I had last time I was there was 🤤 especially tasty!!

We've been here many times for breakfast & for tapas in the evening & it's always top notch, they run a very slick friendly service & serve faultless top quality food at reasonable prices!

I love Mokka. Food is fab and it has a great atmosphere at both Downend and Keynsham.

Food was lovely and so were the coffees we had.Our waiter seemed quiet ok at the start of the meal but as it progressed one of the ladies requested a glass of water from him and he asked why? Rude, we thought! Well at the end of our meal we asked for the bill to which he gave us and all was well until we said we would all pay our own. He brought the bill to the table, walked away muttering under his breath, as if we were wasting his time! When we had sorted out what we all owed I waived my card his way to let him know we were ready, he kinda nodded but sent one of the waitress's over to collect the monies owed. He was the most rude Italian man i have ever known and no tip was left! His black jeans would have loved to have been washed too. We of course will not be going back!!!!!

Food and service good but bit of a bun fight

A bit of a mixed review, the first time I went I loved it. We got the chicken burgers and they were honestly incredible. I went again for a light lunch ordering a jacket potato with cheese and beans, which was awful. So incredible dry, even after requesting butter, there was only about a tablespoon of beans on there too and they added cold cheese to the top and didn’t bother melting. I’m sure I’ll come back and have a good meal here again but will never be ordering a jacket potato again. Please improve them!

Really enjoy coffee, when i can get it. I'm normally alone with a dog and as dogs aren't allowed in here i need to wait outside till someone notices me there! I've been sat waiting for 20/25mins b4 giving up and walking away!

Been here twice, unfortunately both times were not great at all. The first time I came here, my coffee was cold. I took it back and gave me another one, it was luke warm? It’s super expensive for the quality of food. It’s really not worth it. Another time I went for lunch, chicken was dry, cheap and chewy! It was like £1 cooked chicken you buy in the shops. The bread was stale. I don’t usually do negative reviews, but unfortunately this just doesn’t live up to its standards. The service isn’t that great either, took ages to actually get a menu and table was sticky!

We enjoyed breakfast here. The cafe was clean and busy. The noise level allowed conversation without issues. Offered extra shot when explained really strong coffee prefered. The Earl Grey was Tetly but was offered in a teapot so able to get the depth of flavour I like. The toast was good .

My partner went here for a lunch, she said it was very good food. (Came up on my Google as I popped in when I picked her up) but seems a really nice place.

I have visited Mokka twice now and both times I've had fantastic service and superb quality food.

My friend and I meet here around once a month. Staff are always pleasant, attentive without being in your face. Drinks all great as usual but due to lack of choice on cakes we opted for a panini and sandwich. I had cheese and ham on white bread. The ham was full of gristle and fat and put me off eating the second half of the sandwich. I explained to the staff how fatty the ham was and left it for her to show the kitchen staff, no apology or offer to replace it. Really disappointed. I hope the owners realise people have plenty of choice elsewhere and will vote with their feet.

Popped in for coffee and cake. Very good cake. Menu looks very interesting. Going back when I have time to enjoy a lunch.

Been a few times with my family., Well looked after by all the staff. always a warm welcome by all and Manager. Food was great and we all have had a lovely time. Top marks from us.

AVOID Came in today for a coffee which I came and expressed my opinion about how it tasted and I wasn’t happy for the money I paid so I asked politely if the coffee could be swapped for a different one and was told it’s my fault if I don’t like how it was made and to buy another one. Definitely would not be returning here as I found the way I was treated was horrible and again treating the customer like an idiot instead of giving me another drink. Customer service needs work as I’ve never been treated like that before when I have had a complaint.

Friendly staff, mediocre food. Great allergy options. Had a goats cheese salad here. The salad had so much dressing on that the leaves were swimming and soggy, the chef really needs to put less liquid and dressing on their salads. My partner had a chicken panini, he said the chicken was chewy and unseasoned, the panini also wasn’t fully toasted so was part bread. Nice for a coffee and to chill, but food really isn’t great. The chef at the Mokka in Keynsham is fantastic!
