Pub food at a reasonable price. You get what you pay for, my steak pie was only half filled, with very little meat. My wife's vegetarian chilie was very good.

Great place to stop in your motorhome for overnight parking. The guys here are excellent and very accommodating. Lovely place and an excellent pint of Guinness

Really good service from the staff. The food quality has dropped off imho and the dining room was really quite chilly. We'll give it another try in the near future no doubt

Stayed overnight in our camper van and found the place a real gem ! Food was superb ,staff very helpful and professional.Plus no problem to eat inside with our bassett hound .Will definatly stay again when visiting the area .Xmas menu looks delicious and very good value 😋

Proper pub with amazing and great value food. They allow you to park motorhomes overnight so we had a few drinks and dinner.

Me and my partner stayed here Saturday 28th in our small camper after reading reviews left by others. We had a meal and drinks in the pub and a nice quiet stay in the overflow carpark with just one other camper. Staff were very friendly, food was delicious, prices are fair. Very happy with our stay, will definitely be back. Thank you very much Wishing Well.

Staff are friendly and polite. Food is very nice and good size portions. The pub needs a better cleaner as cobwebs, toilet needed a proper clean. The view from the restaurant wasn't good. We could see empty cages things were delivered in. We could also see a run down outdoor area. The bar was sticky. The pub needs an update and proper clean. Such a shame the pub let the staff and the food down.

Last minute decision, didn’t disappoint. Rachael served us with with a smile and good chat. Dinner was Great vegetarian chilli was awesome, plenty on the plate. Met Maddy the chef, who was a delight. We’ll be back, thank you for a lovely couple of hours 👍🙏🫶

Walked into the pub and I was met with a guy sat on the bar on his phone it seemed like he was trying to ignore me stood there. After he finished on his phone, he went behind the bar and asked a lady (presumably the landlord) if she could serve me. She said what do they want drinks or food. The woman came out and served me. I asked if they had any menus and she said if you’re sitting outside you can’t eat because it’s too cold. I said what about the outside area that’s covered which actually does serve food. She said no because when she opens the door it’ll be too cold for other customers - their food would get cold. Funny thing is there was no customers in the pub at that time so she clearly didn’t want to serve any food. Ridiculous. Then I didn’t want to ask another drink because I thought I’d be told no as I was sat outside and apparently too cold to serve. I thought pubs were struggling these days??? What happened to prioritising customers?? Seems like they can’t be bothered. I won’t come here again they don’t deserve my money if they can’t be bothered hope they shut down it’s always dead there anyway

Nice chilled local. Nice pint served from friendly bar chap. Atmosphere good, although not too busy when I went. Didnt eat so not rated that but the two blokes adjacent to me seemed very happy with what they had just eaten. V good all round.

Popped in on the off chance on a Sunday afternoon and they were able to accommodate us no problem. Had the roast dinner (one beef, one turkey) and it was great. Plenty of flavour and plenty on the plate. Very good value for money.

It was very quiet when we visited at about 15:30 on a Sunday afternoon, hence the low atmosphere score. We had a drink and a meal, which very good for pub grub. Service was pleasant and we were were warmly welcomed. Plenty of off street parking in a quiet location.

Stayed here overnight in the rear car park, staff were all very friendly and accommodating the food was great and the service even better. Fantastic pub for stay over for the night on route to Devon would highly recommend and will definitely be calling again thanks everyone 😊😊🍻

Kitchen shuts at 8:15 but if you arrive at 8:10 everything is off and there's no food. Pick a time and stick to it.

Monday lunch really enjoyed the company. The food took so long to arrive. We were told that service could be a while but it took well over a hour to reach table. The Gravy was congealed The pie was hard and cold in parts Small portions It wasn't even a tablespoon of peas. Scampi chips 8 pieces again peas we're not even a tablespoon. Lasagne was very hot to the point where it was over heated. Two members of staff that was including the kitchen staff. Tried to give feed back but unfortunately he got defensive but we thought it might be helpful as you learn from mistakes. Won't be going back there.

What an amazing and generous pub owner. We were passing through in our motorhome for the second time and asked if we could spend the night. No problem was the reply. Definitely recommended if you are travellers like us. A big thank you.

Cosy family run little pub offering a well stocked bar and comprehensive menu serving dishes to tempt all taste

Came for lunch today. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced! We sat outside, lots of space for the kids to run around with their football. Liam served us and he was fab, very helpful, friendly and welcoming! This is the 2nd time we've been and we'll definitely be returning and recommending!

Brought my mum and brother for a roast dinner a couple of Sundays again. Thought the portion size was decent and the meat (went for beef) was cooked really nicely too. Weather was a bit rubbish so didn't sit outside but looks like it would be really nice when it's sunny as the garden is massive!

I stopped here after a long drive. I wanted to have some food and stay the night in my Campervan. It was a good choice. I had a great meal, the staff are lovely, the garden is huge, very nice with bunnies in it. I was able to stay in the large car park and I had a peaceful night. I would highly recommend.

Absolutely lovely pub, lovely feel, I never visit pubs alone however on this occasion I did and was made to feel very welcome. Staff can’t do enough for you and all deserve a pay rise.. staff very chatty to me which was nice, when my food arrived I was blown away with how delicious it was. I will definitely be visiting again .. thank you all

Came here last Thursday evening as a group of 7 what a lovely place and very welcoming food was great and the bar staff was lovely very helpful and Rachel had a lovely way with the children nothing was too much of a bother for her .wish all pubs had this level of welcome ness Thank you Rachel

Brilliant! Can't fault it. Lovely lady served us. Food was great and reasonably priced. Drinks average price for area. We stayed in the carpark overnight in our motorhome. A great stopover. Close to the M4 Bath junction and a handy place for us to stop on our way to Castle Combe.

We were there with our motorhome, had a delicious meal and were allowed to spend the night on the meadow/gravel 😁 A win for everyone 👍

Really lovely country style pub. Have been here many times in the past and enjoyed ourselves. Haven't been for a while so thought we would go here for a change of scenery. I was quite shocked how much the prices for food have increased - considering the portion sizes it arrived as. I didn't get pictures of all our food, my friend got the salt and chilli chicken kebab and fries - hers looked amazing and a relatively good portion (cost £13.50). I had adults hunters chicken which came with chips, 2 onion rings, half a grilled tomato and a tiny bit of rocket, I thought was slightly overpriced at £12.29. We were most shocked at my daughter meal, she went for the 'bigger appetite' hunters chicken. As pictured it was just a hunters style breast of chicken, maybe 10 chips and 2 tiny spriggs of rocket on top - although it said on the menu a salad garnish. This cost £8.25! Which I thought was way overpriced for the portion, in comparison to other places in regards to 'bigger appetite' child meals.. this was definitely one of the smallest portions I've seen. Was quite disappointed it didn't even come with peas or some other extra that is healthy. We did order side dishes of halloumi sticks - which were honestly the best I've ever had. Onions rings - also wonderful and garlic bread which unfortunately was quite overcooked. The pub itself is lovely, lots of character, open fire for those colder months, seating outside at the front and back which is awesome. Plenty of parking as well. I would recommend this place if you're wanting a cold drink in the sun but unfortunately due to us being quite disappointed with the food, we won't be back.

My family and I (11 of us) came for a meal for a birthday celebration this evening and were sat next to an even larger table who were also celebrating a birthday. The table next to us had just finished eating when we arrived and were drinking; they were so loud and increasingly rowdy and after enduring it for a while, my dad asked them politely if they’d mind being a little bit quieter, whilst also acknowledging that they were there for a celebration too. This was met with an awkwardness and hostility which persisted throughout the whole meal, with younger (drinking) members of the other table continuing to moan and talk about it under their breath for the duration. Reference was made to the fact it’s a pub and not a wake. Completely appreciate that, but it was 6pm in a family pub, with our young children including a 3 year old and one month old baby. We spoke to bar staff afterwards whose response was ‘sorry there wasn’t anything we could do about it’, ‘it’s just one of those situations’, ‘it was out of our control’ which just highlights that they would not have dealt with it appropriately had they been given the opportunity to (baffled that they had no awareness of how rowdy it was - appreciate loudness comes when numbers are high but it was far beyond that), and were probably just happy to take their money. The pub was empty apart from our two tables and my mum had mentioned that perhaps we could have been placed elsewhere, to which the waitress responded to say ‘there was nowhere else we could put you’ even though we have previously frequented the pub and sat elsewhere over the last twelve years. On leaving the pub, one person from the other table said they ‘were that close to decking my dad’ - a completely disproportionate response!! The really loud and then awkward atmosphere and poor response of the bar staff/ management are all reasons why we left our meal earlier (taking the birthday cake with us) and we will not be returning in the future! I’d recommend others look elsewhere too based on our experience.

Staff and venue warm and welcoming and the food and service was good. We 3 adults all went for the Sunday Roast so didn't try the main menu but we also had a little one with us who chose from the Kid's menu and that food was good too.

Used to be one of our regular haunts but not been in ages so, encouraged by the offer, booked for lunch and it was an excellent visit. Happy with the menu and service, the bar lady was friendly and 'on the ball' and the meals were freshly cooked and piping hot.

Went on a Monday night for a meal with 7 without booking, was very quiet but overall good experience, solid food, decent prices, and friendly service.

Yet another lovely Sunday Roast at the Wishing Well. Staff friendly and welcoming and a plus they are dog friendly. 👏👏👏

Went here for a family meal, lovely place in the countryside, very empty only a couple of others in there. Ordered 4 mains and 4 garlic breads for starters, the barmaid was very cold and unwelcoming, 2 of the garlic breads arrived, both were under cooked and only toasted on the top half, the other 2 took ages to come as the barmaid was to busy feeding another couples dogs with chews from behind the bar. Was around 8 further minutes till she arrived back with another 2 rounds of soggy undercooked garlic bread. There was no mixed grills or kebabs available, we ended up with 2 burgers and 2 hunters chicken, the roll on my burger was so hard you could of thrown it threw a window, the hunters chicken was microwaved to death and was brought home for the cat, who didn’t eat it, all in all this is the worst meal we have had out in the last 24 months and ended up going to a different pub for dessert. This is such a shame as it’s a beautiful setting, Marstons clearly need to employ a proper trained chef for this pub as the food was awful, and employ someone who can give a warm and cheerful welcome and some descent customer service. I will not ever be going to this pub again and will be sending a letter of complaint to Marstons, We did ask them to swap out for a new roll but there was no apology from the barmaid, I will write a letter of complaint to head office and recommend they get some descent chefs and staff. All in all a very disappointing evening in the pub. I would also recommend moving table 1 as you can see straight into the kitchen and see our food sitting under a warmer hood for around 20 minutes.

Lovely warm pub. Comfortable seating. Good choice of menu and very friendly helpful staff. Only negative we couldn't order dessert from the lunch menu after the main course as it had to be ordered at the same time as main meal and you don't always know if you want a dessert beforehand.

I booked a table for 4 for lunch, following us attending Westerleigh Crematorium to intern our sister's ashes. We found the pub welcoming, cosy and the staff friendly and helpful. The log fire crackling away certainly helped with the ambiance and it was lovely to visit a proper old fashioned country pub. The food was excellent, delivered quickly enough (given they had a wake taking palce at the same time) and hot. Nothing was too much trouble and we've all decided we will definately be visiting again. The only downside from our visit was the lack of food options ( we wanted 3 mixed grills but only 2 were available and there was no sherry trifle cheesecake, which I'd been looking forward to all week!)

Always our go to place for a decent Sunday roast. Has always been great there with the new people that have taken it over . Food is always fresh , cooked perfectly . Would highly recommend

This is a traditional country pub with a welcoming atmosphere and on a cold day it was good to find there was an open fire in the bar. The menu offers a fairly good range and a reasonable prices. The food was well presented and well cooked, however there was a problem with two of our main meals. Myself and another guest had chosen to have the Thursday lunchtime special, which was steak and a free drink. Unfortunately, both of us found the steak to be tough and extremely fatty, making it almost inedible. Following our meal we were surprised to find that the landlord came to our table as he had seen that the steaks were only half eaten and was concerned to find out if there was a problem. After we explained, he was quick to point out that had we returned the meal earlier he would have changed it, but as we hadn't he would compensate by offering a refund. We were impressed by his concern to please his customers and will definitely be returning.

If I could give this food a (0). It was the worst fish and chips ever, had the lighter lunch menu. Ordered at 2.15 food arrived at 2.30pm fish batter was soggy I just wish I had taken a picture. My husband had the veg Chili it came out warm, as I tasted it and just went to the bar after a lady was being served. I said we couldn’t eat our food and requested our money back which they did but the chef Kev was very rude and said there was nothing wrong with our meals when our food was brought out! He obviously does eat the food he prepares. It was shocking we normally go to this pub regularly but this was the first and last time with these new owners.

Visited for a Sunday Lunch. We were greeted with a warm welcome and the real fire was warm and comforting. The food was amazing, with all fresh veg and crispy potatoes, best roast I have had in a long time. I would definitely recommend. Thank you to Kev and the Team we will definitely be returning.

Looking forward to the chef (Kevin) adding his own menu he's truly the best chef in Yate with no rival!! No doubt when the new menu comes in tables to book will be like hens teeth. One barman! He was inexperienced but also had to serve everyone’s food as well! Loads waiting for either food to arrive or in the Q to order a drink! Was told it’s under new ownership and it’s now terrible service but better food! Sadly we...

We were a pre-booked group of 6 when we visited and they were very busy due to a funeral party who just turned up unannounced and a member of staff who hadn't come in that day! Never the less were well looked after with good service and the food was excellent, well prepared and hot. When ever we need to take friends out to a pub for a meal we will go the the Wishing Well again. My local car club have recently started to hold their monthly meeting there so I will be back! Thank you for looking after us so well.

Stopped here for an impromptu Sunday lunch without a booking. We had a very warm welcome from Lucy, who squeezed us in and gave us great service and wonderful food. Highly recommend. Dog friendly - our labradoodle particularly loved Lucy!
