Good Frydays in South Gloucestershire

My parents came all over from India (Calcutta) for vacation and they tried this fish and chips , it was extremely tasty . Very friendly behaviour of the staff . Excellent service . My father said one of the best fish and chips he had in UK. ❤️

First time ordering from Good Frydays and we are very pleased with our food! The chips were proper chip shop chips that you used to get years ago, the cod was huge & tasty and the curry sauce was delicious! Our food arrived at in a very good time considering it was a Saturday. 10/10* we will definitely be back! Thank you for making our Saturday evening enjoyable :)

it was all cold, fish overcooked, dry and had hardly any fish in it, it was all batter, and there were 3 bones in the fish. Chips were okay apart from cold

first order from this place and boy were we impressed! the food was HOT, delicious and cooked perfectly, so happy and will be ordering regularly, just amazing and the delivery driver was fantastic and followed instructions for delivery, PERFECT!!!

large cod wasn't exactly large. £21 for cod and chips and a batterd sausage. service charge of £1.90 for what I don't know. won't be ordering again 😒

Very disappointed, chips were horrible. The cod and burger were just ok. I thought with the good rating and high price (£38) for two, it would be a bit special, i was very wrong. Will not bother with these again. Delivery was fast and early.

Usually excellent food but unfortunately on this occasion I was disappointed. Clarks pie was very dry and the chips were hard amd shrivelled up. Like they had been cooked once then warmed up.

Absolutely 💯 !! As a travelling foodie, I'm incredibly critical of restaurants and takeaways. I've just eaten a large fish and chips with curry sauce from Good Frydays and the verdict was easy, that's one of the best fish and chips I've ever had and trust me, I don't miss a meal. Why? Starting with the chips, they are exactly what you hope for when visiting a traditional British chippy, great tasting good quality potatoes, a mouth watering texture and all served perfectly hot, a combination that makes them very moreish. Topped with a great tasting traditional chip shop curry sauce, it's just what the Doctor ordered! Onto the star of the show, the large fish which given it's size, could have been mistaken with a shark! ...super tasty, it was an incredibly chunky piece that was perfectly cooked and piping hot! The batter was golden brown, almost an ale colour which was tasty and not greasy. The crowns on the batter were soo crispy even after driving it home. Personally, I always have my fish and chips separate to avoid creating a sweat box so I recommend this, it's an easy was to spoil any battered fish, let alone what could well be the very best Bristol has to offer, Good Frydays is certainly ahead of any other I've had in Bristol over the past several years. Finally, service. What's a great chippy with the classic experience. I'm pleased to say this also scores a 10. A family business, lovely people who are engaging, genuine and just a pleasure to talk to. I've met the father and son a few times now and every time, I enjoy great chat, they are honestly a very down to earth family that remind people like myself to support local. To conclude, absolutely fantastic job, thank you. My family and I loved our delicious food today and without question, I'll be recommending! Apologies for not capturing a photo way before I started, clearly I was keep to dig in! Until the next time...

After having a lovely day at the park with my two children, went for a bag of chips in the so called "best chipshop in the area" only to get home and be very disappointed, the chips were stale and brown and very undercooked! Very disappointed! Won't be going there again

Disappointed batter on the fish was thick and undercooked and stodgy on the inside.

Very disappointed with fish and chips. The fish was more batter than fish and dryed up, chips were soggy. UPDATE BEEN BACK AND FISH AND CHIPS WAS EXCELLENT.

We tried Good Frydays tonight for the first time and we were not disappointed! The food was just amazing, and the team were super friendly. And with so much to choose from on the menu, Good Frydays is a great choice for a family meal out!

You can't deny that the food here is mostly good. The fish is lovely every time...BUT.... & it is a big BUT, there are some challenging flaws. Ok, it was Good Friday and therfore really busy, you expect that. Unfortunately the 6-7 minutes we were told we would need to wait for food lasted 30 minutes & people were not being served in order of orders being placed. The portions were also ridiculously small, paying over £4 for a portion of chips that didn't even fill half of the container. Probably 2-3 potatoes at most Only started going back recently, the 8pm close does not work for us, although have driven past just after 7.30 and the lights are out! Could be a really good place, if it were open for a reasonable length of time.

Excellent fish and chips as always. It's not on the menu but my son asked if they do battered gherkins. On a whim they had a go as it was quiet, but said that they might not turn out well. They were excellent - thank you!

Absolutely awful. Just bought cod and chips twice. The batter was awful and there was more batter than fish. All the batter was crumbling off in big chunks, wasn't edible had to throw it away.

The haddock was great crispy batter chips were hot till the end and sausage was good according to my 10 year old the large haddock was spilt between 2 hungry adults and was more than enough for us the large chips was plenty for three of us to have a plate ful each would recommend every time 100/10 according to my 10 year old

The new options are amazing. Vegetarians - get ready for your mouth to water! The Mac and cheese bites are outrageously good but there’s also pizza bites, chilly cheese bites and halloumi fries amongst others! Very reasonably priced and sooooo delicious. The staff are great too!

The food was not the usual standard. Really greasy chips that looked like they’d been sat in the box for an hour before getting to me. Usually really lovely food and have ordered multiple times without any issues, but today I was disappointed

The best cod I’ve had in ages had a small chips which this time was the better option as the large portion is too large even for two the jumbo sausage was perfect not greasy sane as the cod crisp and perfect Will order again soon

Fast delivery by polite rider. The pie was good but unfortunately the Cod bites and chips were not as nice as the last time I had them. The chips were mainly scrappy bits and too hard too eat, while the cod bites were overcooked and not crispy. Disappointed.

Food was good but tepid because Rider got lost. I gave him some guidance, but when he found my address, he didn't come up straightaway. When he did, he was faffing around on his mobile and only gave a grunt before shoving my meal towards me! Just eats fault and not Good Frydays.

Usually it’s 10/10. But today my chips were cold and brown, very disappointing given the price. I went at 3.30 so maybe I had lunch time chips, felt that way. Fish and Curry was very good.
