Disappointed batter on the fish was thick and undercooked and stodgy on the inside.

Very disappointed with fish and chips. The fish was more batter than fish and dryed up, chips were soggy. UPDATE BEEN BACK AND FISH AND CHIPS WAS EXCELLENT.

Amazing Food. This places serves Gluten free food every Tuesday! And it takes just like the real thing !

We tried Good Frydays tonight for the first time and we were not disappointed! The food was just amazing, and the team were super friendly. And with so much to choose from on the menu, Good Frydays is a great choice for a family meal out!

You can't deny that the food here is mostly good. The fish is lovely every time...BUT.... & it is a big BUT, there are some challenging flaws. Ok, it was Good Friday and therfore really busy, you expect that. Unfortunately the 6-7 minutes we were told we would need to wait for food lasted 30 minutes & people were not being served in order of orders being placed. The portions were also ridiculously small, paying over £4 for a portion of chips that didn't even fill half of the container. Probably 2-3 potatoes at most Only started going back recently, the 8pm close does not work for us, although have driven past just after 7.30 and the lights are out! Could be a really good place, if it were open for a reasonable length of time.

Excellent fish and chips as always. It's not on the menu but my son asked if they do battered gherkins. On a whim they had a go as it was quiet, but said that they might not turn out well. They were excellent - thank you!

Absolutely awful. Just bought cod and chips twice. The batter was awful and there was more batter than fish. All the batter was crumbling off in big chunks, wasn't edible had to throw it away.

Absolutely 💯 !! As a travelling foodie, I'm incredibly critical of restaurants and takeaways. I've just eaten a large fish and chips with curry sauce from Good Frydays and the verdict was easy, that's one of the best fish and chips I've ever had and trust me, I don't miss a meal. Why? Starting with the chips, they are exactly what you hope for when visiting a traditional British chippy, great tasting good quality potatoes, a mouth watering texture and all served perfectly hot, a combination that makes them very moreish. Topped with a great tasting traditional chip shop curry sauce, it's just what the Doctor ordered! Onto the star of the show, the large fish which given it's size, could have been mistaken with a shark which was super tasty, it was an incredibly chunky piece that was perfectly cooked and piping hot! The batter was golden brown, almost an ale colour which was tasty and not greasy. The crowns on the batter were soo crispy even after driving it home. Personally, I always have my fish and chips separate to avoid creating a sweat box so I recommend this, it's an easy was to spoil any battered fish, let alone what could well be the very best Bristol has to offer, Good Frydays is certainly ahead of any other I've had in Bristol over the past several years. Finally, service. What's a great chippy without the the classic experience. I'm pleased to say this also scores a 10. A family business, lovely people who are engaging, genuine and just a pleasure to talk to. I've met the father and son a few times now and every time, I enjoy great chat, they are honestly a very down to earth family that remind people like myself to support local. To conclude, absolutely fantastic job, thank you. My family and I loved our delicious food today and without question, I'll be recommending! Apologies for not capturing a photo way before I started, clearly I was keep to dig in! Until the next time...

Always get my Fish n Chips from here. Last nights fish was exceptional. Chunky piece of fish covered in just the right amount of batter. Plenty of tasty chips as well. Friendly efficient staff.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS FOOD. I ROCKED UP AND WAS GIVEN CHICKEN AND CHIPS BEFORE I EVEN HAD THE TIME TO COUNT MY CHANGE. BEAUTIFUL SERVICE FROM THE PEOPLE OVER AT GOOD FRYDAYS. I WOULD TAKE MY KIDS THERE BUT IVE LOST THEM.

banging chish and fips guys at the counter were great fellas. service was speedy. in and out in 5 lovely service. cant wait to go again. whole family enjoyed. would recommend definitely after a night on the town.

The new options are amazing. Vegetarians - get ready for your mouth to water! The Mac and cheese bites are outrageously good but there’s also pizza bites, chilly cheese bites and halloumi fries amongst others! Very reasonably priced and sooooo delicious. The staff are great too!

Tasty and speedy service but £10 for fish and chips takeaway is too much.

Usually it’s 10/10. But today my chips were cold and brown, very disappointing given the price. I went at 3.30 so maybe I had lunch time chips, felt that way. Fish and Curry was very good.

Absolutely lush food as always. Good Fridays is a family run business and a lovely polite family they are. You are always met by polite happy people. I would give more stars if I could.

Not great quality. Fish was thin, overcooked with thick chewy batter, chips overcooked and greasy. Portion size was ok but at £10 per head expected / hoped for better. First time we have tried this place in a couple or years and unfortunately won’t be going back.

Best chips around! I know there aren't many local round here... But still, there only needs one! Proper chippy chips, excellent batter and a great menu that has enough for everyone's tastes but also isn't too much of a menu that sacrifices quantity over quality. Decent portions, very friendly staff with a warm welcome every time I've popped in. Highly recommended, props to everyone at GFDs!

Disappointing. Not very fresh...

Not sure what is going on with this chip shop, recently quality of fish is very poor - almost non existent and the batter is far too hard/crispy. I’ve been a customer for many years but won’t be going back which is a shame for them to loose loyal customers.

The food here was quite pricey for the quality of food that was received. The cod was severely overcooked and the batter was hard. There was not much fish in the batter it consisted of mainly batter. The chips were very undercooked .As well as this, I ordered curry sauce which I did nor receive was quite disappointed .

Probably one of the best curry houses I’ve been too. Had Chicken jalfrezi, veg pilau rice and keema naan bread. Loads of succulent tandoori chicken rice was lovely and the name was nice thick and doughy just how I like them..

First time here today, what a great experience. Enjoyed putting the world to rights with the super friendly staff, and the fish and chips went down a treat too! Will definitely be back.

I hadn't been here before and happened to be in the area on Saturday. The service was quick and the fish and chips fresh and delicious. To gain 5 stars it would be great if they did meal deals like fish chips and curry sauce for a fiver? Cheers

First time couple weeks ago few times since best chips around friendly staff

We were looking for a top chippy for my girlfriends birthday, and we nailed it. Great fish and chip shop and lovely staff.

Staff here very nice but it’s unfortunate they are not very talented at frying fish. Large cod/haddock is cooked to order which I prefer so it’s fresh but there’s always a layer of soggy undercooked batter and today one portion was so undercooked the fish was still cold in the middle. Granted it was a thick piece of cod (yum in theory) but I didn’t want sushi and owner should know how long to cook it for. 2 large cod and chips is only just shy of £17 and a lot is going in the bin/cat. Its so convenient to me I tend to forget the problems and go back but today I’ve finally accepted that cooking quality and cost just doesn’t warrant returning. Sorry guys.

this chip shop gives the smallest portions for the highest price large means small, it was 3.00 more expensive than our normal chip shop which is amazing, the food was of quality but a rip off

This looks like a family run business, and they make you feel part of them when you visit. They are always chatty and friendly, and the F&C are simply the best. I recommend Good Fridays and will continue to buy my chips there.

Fantastic food and friendly staff.

Great quality fish.. But pricey.... Tends to close up shop when it wants, and not as abvertised on the opening shop hours. This is because they know that they can monopolise the area as its a good mile from any other quality chip shop.

We tried Good Frydays for the first time tonight. We were very impressed. The cod was fresh, the chips were delicious, the service was great. There was quite a queue to order and collect - because this place is so great! We’re a family who love fish - especially on a Friday, and we’ll definitely be back.
