Great food. Generous portions at a reasonable price. Pie minister a great option. Service was amazing, Freddie was a most enjoyable host. His fun and loving character added to an enjoyable evening. He definitely made us all feel special and looked after us with attention and care.

Came for steak on a steak-night. Above average price for a quite average steak. But good service and drinks. Came back to try again and walked straight out when I noticed the price of the rump steak. £25 is absolutely outrageous for what should be the cheapest cut. Pretentious pricing for what is really quite basic pub food. Went elsewhere for half the price and an equally good steak. Fine for drinks but avoid if you're going for food. £30-40 per head with a couple drinks.

Such a quaint, inviting exterior with pretty flowers outside & the inside was just as nice. The staff were friendly, and helpful; they got us seated quickly. The Collins Elderflower cocktail was underwhelming with very little taste of elderflower. The steak Bravatas were cooked perfectly with just the right hint of pink in the middle; delicious. Unfortunately the vegan Sweet potato & Coconut curry was a letdown, it had to be reheated but it lacked flavour, seasoning or any hint of coconut. It seemed to be mostly chickpea. If they just upped their game a bit I would have given 5 ** Huge potential, lovely atmosphere, great staff.

Tried the pork belly and squid starters, both very good. Had Japanese chicken burger main which was exceptional. The use of chicken thigh rather than breast made for a juicy delicious burger with a tasty batter and accompaniments. Onion rings were also very good. Banging. Had satay chicken burger on another visit which was a special. Chicken breast used but still really tender and juicy. Very impressed.

To start the meals were not delivered as requested ie Childs meals with the starters as they don’t eat as quick as adults they were delivered after all the adults mains were delivered. The steaks were ordered medium rare they were served like tough leather , not one member of staff asked if the meals were ok at any point during the meal or after !others ordered fish and chips and too they were very disappointed with the greasy way the fish was served ie over cooked ! All in all we paid as we don’t like to complain however would we return for food at the duck and willow I’m afraid not. We gave it a try and not to be tried again . A lot of improvement is required to get a good review if the land lord paid more attention to what’s going on rather than drinking in the pub with friends it may by ran a bit better !

Good local pub, large outdoor area, with good food. Wednesday night = steak night, 20% off steak and half price bottle of Malbec (at time of writing). And they do poutine as a side dish – delicious! Hard to find. Not sure how authentically Canadian their version is, but it‘s still pretty tasty 🙂

I popped in a week or so ago for a quick bite to eat, having been there a year or so prior. Ordered a steak sandwich and it was probably the best bite I’ve had to eat in the last two years of anywhere I’ve been. To call it just a sandwich doesn’t quite describe the effort that’s gone in to make it. I fervently recommend. The manager was a lovely affable fellow, who brought me a free drink whilst waiting for my food. Really nice chap. This place hits all the right notes and I will be going back very soon.

I've had several Sunday roasts here, all excellently cooked, but today I was disappointed that there was no gravy on the plate. How are you supposed to eat bone dry meat, Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes? Guys, the chef and the cooking is excellent, but if your'e going to cut costs on a £19 roast dinner, don't skimp on the cheapest ingredient - gravy! I did ask for some gravy and when it arrived, it transformed a disappointing plate of dry food into a luxurious Sunday roast. Your cost-cutting measures are definitely not doing you any favours.

My friend and I visited the little haven April 2024. We spent most of or weekend (Friday-Sunday) in this bar/restaurant each day. The food, atmosphere and staff are amazing. Staff are so professional yet amazingly friendly, especially Cathleen (Cat as she’s know). The food was perfect and so tasty, my friend, Terry, had a few meals during our time there because he is a very hungry man generally and I ate once. All food was perfectly presented and was so so tasty. I live North England but travel a lot for work so needless to say, I will be returning when in the area. There are a few parking spaces to the front of the property and plenty of main road parking.

It’s a stretch to describe this place - as their website does - as a gastropub. Feels like a chain pub with average food and a few good beers. Our vegan burgers (the only vegan option) were OK, although quite cold. The pub was quiet when we went and we could hear the kitchen constantly ringing the bell. The barman only collected our food when we motioned to him that it was ready. Won’t return.

Lovely pub, amazing atmosphere with decent food. As far as pub grub is concerned, the burger I ate fits right in. It didn’t stand out at all and it wasn’t anywhere near as juicy or tasty as I’d like but it was enjoyable. I did not like how my chips were forgotten and I had to wait an extra 5 minutes for fries. Mostly because I’m a fries before burger sort of guy. However, I know I will back as it may genuinely have the nicest atmospheres in the entire Downend area for food.

Ordered a specific pie from the specials board because I liked the sound of the ingredients, they brought me a completely different pie ,, I then got fobbed off that it was the vegan pie with quinoa??? But I didn’t order the veggie and goats cheese pie because I was vegan, i ordered it because I specifically wanted THAT pie ,, anyway didn’t make an issue out of it as I was with friends and couldn’t be bothered to wait for another Then we ordered desserts from the same specials board , which were lovely but when the bill came they were more expensive,, just to be told that specials board was out of date and they refused to charge us the lower price Waited ages for drinks , service was definitely not the best , No tip left !!! Was then Not well that same night as turned out the pie had finely chopped chestnut mushrooms in ( that I would NEVER have ordered Not a happy customer

I booked a table here to take friends as last time we came the food was delicious, the staff were really helpful and friendly. However we did not receive the same experience today… We arrived at 2:30pm for a roast table of 4. We were asked to get drinks at the bar and wait as the table wasn’t ready - absolutely fine. We got seated and placed food and drinks orders. We didn’t receive our food nearly 90 minutes after being seated. Other tables seated after us received their orders before us. (They were also tables of 4) the food was okay not as nice as the previous time we came. We asked for more gravy and really we shouldn’t have bothered we got an expresso sized cup with some gravy in for 4 adults. We asked again for more and they came with two tiny desert pots. This also took an age, so we had shouldn’t have bothered as the food had been eaten. Twice I had to chase someone down to ask where the drinks order was. Again shouldn’t have bothered we had all finished eating by the time it got to the table. Deserts were okay but all in all I think we were there 3 hours. It wasn’t busy at all. It definitely felt as though the “B or maybe D team” staff were in. Which was disappointing. The ladies bathroom was filthy. Highlight had to be waiting 30 minutes for the bill to be taken so me and a friend went to the bar to split the payment so we could finally leave. I paid the first half and then the waiter said he forgot to put the optional service charge and he’s added it so she would have to accept or deny before putting her card in. She decline it and he said “oh” whilst pulling a face. She then explained if she didn’t have to come to the bar to pay for the bill and if we have received better service she would have tipped. The attitude we got whilst paying was off putting. Definitely will not be returning as felt basically forgotten about and when there are so many other places in Bristol to go that are consistency good.

A lovely pub with good ales and an adventurous menu, which varies from day to day. From the number of children, they obviously have a reputation for being tolerant. Service was exceptional from relaxed but attentive staff. The only possible downside is the parking. Unless there are more spaces round the back which I didn't see parking is basically on the road. First time I’ve eaten here despite living locally for several years. The restaurant area is cosy and welcoming. We were served by one of the team with drinks, she was friendly and helpful and let us try a couple of wines before we made a decision. Australian Shiraz was good though I feel the wine a bit pricey for the area. The starters were disappointing. The sticky pork although flavoursome, was lukewarm. The squid, again lukewarm, lacked any heat and flavour and was so deep fried it was hard to find the squid. Mains were a lot better. We had rump of lamb with dauphinois potatoes - same quality as a Mitchelin star restaurant - very tasty and would order this again when I visit. Jack was the star of the show! Excellent front of house. He was very professional yet friendly and very customer focused. I would expect him to be working in a really high end restaurant. Duck and Willow are very fortunate to have employed him.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced We booked for a party of 9 and unfortunately on the day 5 people couldn’t attend and so it ended up being 4 of us. We were told we would have to pay for the missing peoples food (which was disappointing because we had paid a £10 deposit each and so assumed at worst we would lost their deposits - but either way we took the loss and paid their meals). They asked if we still wanted the food and we said yes if we were paying we would still take it. All was fine until it came to paying. They then bought the bill over and hadn’t deducted the deposit. I advised them of this and they told me I hadn’t paid a deposit. I told them I had and showed them my bank statement showing £90 to Duck and Willow. They told me this proved nothing and I could have just come in for a meal that night. I told them the table was booked for 9 and the deposit was £10 each and so clearly it was obvious the £90 was the deposit. They argued but eventually said ‘you have no proof but we will take your word for it’. They then bought a new bill over with a £90 deduction but then said to me ‘but actually you should pay the extra because your friends didn’t come’. I said that this doesn’t make sense because we paid for our friends full meals so why should it matter that they didn’t come. They continued to argue with me about this for a full 10 minutes before I told them they could either take what we owe or we would leave paying nothing. It made absolutely no sense to pay for our friends full meals and then pay an extra £90 because they didn’t show. When we finally left the manager looked at me and said ‘yes you were right’ as if this made the situation any better. Absolutely disgusted at their lack of service skills, especially after we just took the loss when they told us we had to pay for our friends full meals instead of just lose the deposits.

Somewhat disappointed unfortunately. I ordered the rump of lamb however, the very small pieces (about the size of a 10p piece) of the lamb two of which were purely fat and the jus was meant to taste of black olives. Although not a fan of olives this had no hint of those flavours. The duck fat roasted potatoes (3 small ones) had that cooked yesterday flavour and were not crispy. This wasn't worth the price which is a real shame. The menus are somewhat misleading, as the sharing steak says and I quote "with a sauce of your choice" which it doesn't unless you pay more for it and also alludes to having a malbec with it again unless you pay for that too! When we asked for the desserts the female staff said the specials dessert wasn't available as "it's not gonna happen" and walked off. Bit of an odd evening maybe they were having an off day.

Other members in my group who had meat were also disappointed with their food but weren't as verbal! I told the waitress that my food was repulsive and she gave me a insincere apology and walked off before I could ask her to give feedback to the chef( if you can call them that). It's Appalling that such a popular pub has no standards and are happy to rip off their customers by charging extortionate prices for such poor quality food! I would never waste my money in here again and hope more people speak up as we're too accepting of such things which is why they get away with it!

Nice outside area. Food has declined over the last 2 years, though. When we first went - there was a good menu, and the place was seen as a bit of a 'gastropub'. However, recently, menu has primarily become limited to a few burgers. Small plates are decent.

Our new local! Staff are friendly and attentive, food has been delicious on both of our 2 visits, we feel blessed! 😋 We've celebrated 2 birthdays here and have been treated so well. Can't wait to try the breakfasts and bring the kids for Sunday lunch. Would they let me bring my 90s record collection and be dj for a night tho......? always worth asking innit!

We had the steak for two. Very impressed, the steak was cooked perfectly it's clear that they have a very good chef who cares about the food they're serving. It was refreshing to see hearty sides, proper pub food alongside a high quality well cooked steak. Very friendly service and great atmosphere, it felt like a real pub, it can be tough to find such good food and a local pub feel but they offer it all. Will definitly be returning.

Popular, child friendly pub serving Sunday lunch. Reasonable food, slightly limited (e.g. no roast lamb). Polite and rapid service. We sat outside - the music seemed a little intrusive inside - near the small play area. Excellent Guinness. Not a destination but a very acceptable venue

Smallish portions for my big appetite (especially for the price point) but really nice, tasty food.

We've had some really lovely food here in the past, but this time 4 really dry disappointing burgers were served up. I would have said something but no one asked! Not sure we'll go back having paid £16 each for something pretty terrible!

The Duck and Willow was always great for food, beer and charm of the staff. Always friendly. Today, the staff were anything but friendly, attentive, and effectively more engaged in chatting to each other. The only thing missing was a skateboard for the guys with baggy scruffie clothes with their caps back to front. Seem tonhave littlemor no customer experience based on their approach to their day job. No Sunday roast specials left at 3pm, and no veggie option either. And the chicken roast was a child portion, esp as they charged £18. There's plenty of other places around that serve better Sundays roasts nearby, so it'll be the last time we go. Maybe the change of management has caused the change, profits before customers, and will only be a recipe for failure.

The food was amazing. They were really accommodating towards my vegan diet and had lots on offer. Such a wide variety. They even had dressing that were vegan! Everything was great even though the weather wasn't bad. The only problem was that it was a bit windy and the umbrella went flying over the wall, and it was a bit scary and dangerous for those sitting nearby. I didn't see it happen, but I heard about it. But they were so accommodating with the food, the chef was great.

I waited 27 minutes AFTER I paid before I got my Ham & Cheese sandwich in the drive up. I could see inside and there were no customers in line at 7:47pm. I was told it was going to be $9.80 for a 6in ham & cheese sandwich. When I questioned it they only charged me $7.20 I will NOT be back to this location. I don't know what is going on here but I would not recommend!!!

Great service from the friendly staff, and the cakes are epic! The babychino comes with a biscuit and cream on top for a special treat with little customers!
