Great place to meet up with friends.

Great pub with good drinks and tasty food options. Staff was very friendly and the food portions were very generous.

Lovely staff,great surroundings - and they have books!

Lovely toasted sour dough sandwich, sat outside, and enjoyed the live music. It was a nice way to spend an hour on Sunday afternoon. Staff very pleasant.

Had a sausage and bacon sandwich the portion size was mean it was 1 sausage and one slice of bacon inside a buttered min french stick for £7 not worth it.

Great place but food on the floor

Service and atmosphere was lovely however food took over 30mins to arrive, it was cold, portions were small and there was a hair in it. :(

Went here with family from abroad. Usually a safe bet, but only one person working behind the bar and front of house - they were really polite and helpful. 4 out of 5 meals were prepared poorly or burnt. Not as good as it used to be. Other lounge type bar in the area are now way above this in every sense.

Great spot on a baking hot Monday evening. Nicely away from the roads, good seating both indoors and out.

The fish and chips were tasty but the piece of fish was very small.

Hawkes House brought their House Box to our anniversary party. They barbecued for us on site, a veggie feast. Everyone loved the food, and gave loads of positive feedback. It really helped our event to be a success. Thank you so much!

Lovely little place in Thornbury. We were able to sit outside because of the weather being so nice. To be honest I did think £10.50 for 3 scoops of ice cream and a smoothie was quite expensive, but then maybe that’s just me. It was a lovely treat though. Quick service and was also cleared away quickly which is good because of the weather + wasps etc.

Hawkes house is a firm favourite. We come from far away to eat here- never disappoints. Excellent food. Excellent coffee. Excellent vibe.

Came here for a late breakfast/brunch with friends. found a table and ordered at the bar which was fine but then it took ages to receive our order. we only saw one waitress the whole time we were there. she would bring out one drink for one table and then the next drink would be for a completely different table, lots of people receiving half of their order and still waiting for the rest. Some tables nearby were complaining that they ordered coffee over 40 mins ago and still waiting while others had arrived and been served before them! some of our table received their food before the drinks arrived. just very unorganised! prices are cheap but you get what you pay for, sourdough bread is 2 thin breadsticks, eggs were over cooked and not runny. coffee was cold. couldn't complain because there wasn't any staff around and no one returned to ask if our food was ok.

Had a table of 7. Absolutely fantastic food and service. The roast was incredible. We also appreciated the kids toy box. A lovely family friendly place.

Brilliant independent cafe/bar! Great selection of food and drink and can cater for most allergies. They had a great selection of Gluten-free food and cakes! There is a baby changing room in the ladies bathroom, in the end cubicle (FYI) Dog friendly and good atmosphere. Well worth a visit! Can recommend booking if you can to guarantee a space!

Fantastic food, with a Sunday Specials list. The beef tacos were very good. Also, there was live music, a singer with a guitar who was very good, playing a range of songs.

Experiencing a very stressful day with a relative in hospital, we call in to Hawkes House for lunch. We were met by a very friendly Jenny and made our order. It arrived timely and good quality. The cup of tea was very much needed and very good. It was topped off with a passionate knowledgeable briefing in the buildings history, by Jenny. Jenny’s caring comments as we were leaving showed her friendliness. Thank you.

Haven’t been here for a while. Service was ok . One set of drinks arrived quite quickly and the other drinks ordered at the same time arrived after the food , I had to remind them about the rest of the drinks order . The breakfast itself I don’t think was worth the £12.50 price tag . One sausage, one bacon, one poached egg, about half a dessert spoonful of “homemade “ beans and the thinnest slice of black pudding I’ve ever seen (almost a shaving) . A few small mushrooms a slice of baguette bread and some cooked cherry tomatoes. Oh and a piece of over-fried hash brown. Although it was edible I found it very disappointing. Will I return. I doubt it.

It is one of the cleanest places in all of Bristol, the waiters are constantly cleaning the tables, the food is good because it is typical of MacDonald

Sad to say but this place did not hit the spot. Went for a sneaky bottle of wine on a Sunday (no kids) and we won't rush back. The wine was cold, the atmosphere was cold and so was the temperature. Shamless to say but we went to a chain (lounge) afterwards for a cocktail and we will go back there next time. It was warm, cocktails were great and so was the atmosphere. Gutted as we would much prefer to support an independent business.

Ive been twice & both times the Atmosphere, Service & Food & Drink was absolutely perfect.

Popped in this morning and went to sit down at a table to be shouted across from the bar that we couldn’t sit there as reserved, no sign on this table like all the rest I questioned this with the staff member as no reservation note and said that they should ensure they are clearly labelled with this he just laughed in my face This he continued to do all the way thought our conversation Will not be returning here

Lovely place, good service and great food, especially the confit duck leg!!

Food is good, has always been. But the service is getting worse. We live locally and used to go frequently, but it's become quite normal to wait 30 minutes for one coffee. It used to be our regular cafe but unfortunately not anymore.

Breakfast is rather pricey, too much self made stuff. Great service but extremely slow cooking . Awful chairs, overpriced and not enough of food

This place was amazing, a true hidden gem and well worth the stop. We would be here everyday if it was nearby. I highly recommend their brisket sandwich. ❤️

Went as a group for a book club Christmas dinner, we were so happy with the inviting environment, the friendly, helpful staff & the most amazing, delicious food! It was an excellent experience & we’ll definitely go back again!

Great Sunday lunch. Beer good and well priced. Wine incredibly expensive - excessive. Toilets a shambles and too often the case here. Table service good incoming but non existent afterwards. Sunday live music exceptional. This is a great place, too often let down by poor facilties and service but it still has much to offer.

Stopped for lunch and a pint. Crab panini washed down with a pint of Cheddar Valley. Nice friendly staff spot on, thanks guys.

Fish and chips- The batter wasn’t crisp, so just ate the inside fish! Chips were ok. A little disappointed but still love the place.

Disappointed with the full breakfast, only 1 rasher of bacon, 1 egg and a small slice of sourdough toast considering the price. The homemade beans weren’t particularly nice, would prefer actual baked beans instead. Overall the interior felt a little grubby, tables need a good wipe, menus were dirty, cushion on the chair was dirty and no checked back during the meal to see if everything was ok. Won’t be going back!

Really nice breakfast relaxed atmosphere

Popped in a few times this weekend dodging the rain and needing recharge phones from playing Pokemon! All the drinks we got were great, the luxury hot chocolate looked really impressive! Complimentary smarties definitely appreciated! Chocolate brownie yesterday was one of the best I've ever had! ❤ Full breakfast this morning was gorgeous, and you really should put the mac and cheese with bacon on the permanent menu, it's way too good to be a special! Atmosphere great, staff professional and cheerful, loved seeing other people's dogs. If I'm ever Pokemoning around here again I'll definitely come back!

missed lunch so went for early dinner,17-15 hours the lady? behind bar was rude and unhelpful.but the food and price was o/k.

Had a delicious full breakfast with loose leaf tea on the outside terrace. The food was fresh and of great quality, particularly the bread. Service was very friendly. Would definitely go again and maybe try one of their many vegan options or sweets.

I had a terrible experience with the food here. The sandwich I received was not up to the standard I was expecting and the waitress agreed. The waitress was lovely and tried her hardest by replacing my sandwich for the bao buns, but they took another 45 mins and really weren't amazing. Great service, great looking place but the kitchen needs a shake up.

I made this my morning treat of takeaway Cappuccinos for mum and I . Had wonderful lunch's in between visits or evening after a night visit . Everyone so friendly and such good coffee and food . Went for the Arbor tap takeover and steak night (and have been other times too). A fantastic evening, great beer, delicious food and reasonably priced too. Would highly recommend

They said half an hour for food. It was about an hour we waited. Writing this review while I wait. Can’t comment on the food yet.

Staff very friendly. Cappuccino served with 3 smarties, a nice touch. Best iced coffee. Lovely outside space. Hawkes has been a relaxing bolt hole from a stressful time. Smiling staff have helped

Nice dishes with a medium portion, just fit my favourite.

We had a steak locally sourced from the butcher. Very good price and excellent quality believe the next one is July 1st.

Food is delicious and staff always very friendly and welcoming. Also have their own pilsner on tap which is fab 🍻

Lovely lovely staff. Nice ambience and atmosphere but average food and amateur service for a restaurant.

Great asthetic and theme of the restaurant however the service was quite slow. Took around 20 minutes for our food to get given to our table however the staff was really nice. The food was the main reason i gave such a low review, the halloumi fries were very rubbery and bit stale whilst the burgers were small and the meat seemed undercooked. But the presentation was amazing! Would partially recommend.

Nice for a drink perhaps but food was cold, tasteless and expensive for how low quality it was.

The atmosphere and decor here are great, a really nice, independent restaurant. However, although the burger was good, the bibimbap was disappointing - it seems strange to offer something as unusual as this (and get me excited) and then do it badly. Nothing like the Korean style bibimbap unfortunately.

No one greeted us or showed us to our reserved table. It’s also no longer table service. We had to find it ourselves. They didn’t have a cocktail menu available as ‘the new ones hadn’t been delivered’. We did order cocktails, but one of the cocktails was unavailable as they didn’t have the ingredients for the new menu? Waited 40 minutes for cocktails to be brought to table. We both ordered Bibimbap, mine was vegan chicken. However it was not stated on the menu that the vegan chicken was bread crumbed - I’m gluten free, but after waiting some time, I didn’t have the energy to say anything (I’m only intolerant). No one came to check on us after food service, to see if everything was okay with our meal. I then went to order desserts for myself and my mum at the bar, but was informed the kitchen had closed. It would have been nice to have been told the closure time when ordering at the beginning of the evening, so we could have got our order in earlier (Hawkes House wasn’t due to close until an hour later, so we thought we had plenty of time). Finally, when paying the bill, again we weren’t asked how our meal was. I think it’s unfortunate, as I used to love Hawkes House, but sadly that’ll be my last visit.

A lovely community cafe with a great atmosphere. Food service can be slow but is worth the wait. I have visited many times for different meals. I had the houmous plate as a snack. It was delicious. There was too little toast to eat the houmous with so I had to order a side order of toast to finish it.

Really good place to go, service is prompt, gluten free is outstanding, never had a bad meal here. The staff are friendly.

Lovely local pub cafe. We went for brunch and had coffee and pastries. They were excellent. The speed was okay, considering how busy they were. My friend had an egg and was shocked how nice it was (odd for just an egg) was very busy but didn't feel crowned.

Only popped in for a coffee whilst my dog had her groom next door. What a lovely cozy place! Was served with so much kindness and they brought the coffee right to my table. Really felt looked after :-)

Chef made it worth the visit! I had a full breakfast and it was so tasty I'd definitely recommend it. My partner had a Boujie BLT Sandwich and his words "that was very very nice". Atmosphere wasn't as good, could be cleaner, felt a little grubby and the tables a bit sticky. That being said I'd definitely go back. R x

Helpful chaps who seem quite experienced around cars.

Went here today for a coffee and to my surprise they use Oatly oat milk (not many places do) so I was very happy with my tasty oat latte, will return sometime soon and 100% recommended. Will have to try the food next time as it looked lovely!
