We did a walk in at a busy time but we're found a table, didn't use the ' quick ordering ' via QR code as Internet has no signal here and disappointingly no normal WiFi available just one you have to sign up to which I won't do. We had the carvery which was the usual good value but not great grub. Would still go back though 😀

It's just a proper old fashioned boozer, I haven't been in there for quite a few years hasn't changed much except the landlord, i didn't get on to well with the previous one who was there for 30 odd years so didn't use it much. But met up with a few old mates and a couple of regulars i haven't seen for a while had a good night staff friendly and polite might go again soon. 🏴‍☠️ UTG.

I have a takeaway carvery every week and it is so delicious. It’s my favourite meal of the week, full of lovely fresh vegetables and lovely lean meats, completed with the most tasty sausage. Would highly recommend this lovely pub.

I come here at least once a week and have done for several years. The carvery is excellent, succulent meats and very fresh veg, with a takeout option too. All the staff are very friendly - Terri and Chris, Amy, Carl, Jess, Jess, Jenny, Lewis, Courteney and Alison. The other menu choices are good too, pizzas especially. Cannot fault the Masons Arms at all

Booked a table for 1 p.m. we got there in time but were told they couldn't contact us due to power outage so No carvery, No fish but scampy available, pizza and burgers. No ice cream again for the third time of visit kids were disappointed again!. It should had been a birthday lunch but never again! We asked for water with other drinks staff had to go off and serve meals. I waited 5 minutes for the water at the bar she had forgot about the water. Looks like this is due to lack of staff. Ended up with cheese & bacon burger not what was I was looking for. Luckily my daughter used up her gift card, she won't be going back. Redwood Farm here we come!

Probably my favourite pub at the moment and one of the few places I know where you can get a fresh pint of Taunton Traditional Cider. Served with a dash of orange squash this is my favourite summer drink. Though he warned, its very strong and my idea of cycling from Frampton to have a few pints, fell at the first hurdle. Literally. We were regulars when we lived in Winterbourne but now we live in Frampton Cotterell it’s just a bit too far to walk but not far enough to warrant a taxi. So last time we went, we caught the 46 bus from outside the house and hopped off in Watley’s End Rd just a short walk from the Masons. I use the Mason’s regularly every couple of months when I meet up with two old chums from Avon Fire and Rescue. We have a few beers ( or in my case Cider and in Mr Rafters, Lager) and put the world to rights. Oh if only we were still running the Fire Service, how great it would be! There’s a goodish selection of beers at the Masons and to some people’s surprise, a really good wine list. My friend always drinks Prosecco and swears it’s the cheapest and best around. The atmosphere is a bit nautical given the Landlords career in the Navy that’s not surprising. Or it might be he’s just a Captain Pugwash fan, but either way the memorabilia is eclectic. It’s often quite dark in the lounge but that has its own charm. The locals may look intimidating but they are s friendly bunch and there’s never a shortage of women customers. Many of the regulars are doggy and four legged friends are always welcome though the horses have to stay outside. In the summer there are a few benches outside the door that catch the sun till really late. In the winter it’s always snug and warm inside. TV always has some sort of sport showing but the sound is switched off and there’s no pap background music. This is a real pub, frequented by real drinkers though they do offer a great cheese and onion roll plus pickled eggs. What more could you want. This is a pub for people who like pubs. If you want some thing fancy try Wetherspoons. I’ll stick to the Masons!

There are, arguably, two reasons to visit Downend. One is on a summer’s afternoon to watch Downend CC play cricket with the bar in full swing and plenty of boundaries being scored as the ground is relatively small; the other is to pay a visit to Melanie’s Kitchen. This delicatessen shop is a positive cornucopia of cheeses, bakery items, biscuits, chutneys, artisan breads etc etc. The man who serves at the cheese counter (who I assume is not Melanie!) is a fountain of knowledge on local cheeses and knows all of the local cheese producers, when their cheeses are at their best and is happy to provide advice to ensure that you will leave well satisfied having enjoyed a sensory and culinary experience second to none. It’s full marks from me.

Overall, the staff are friendly and polite. However, lately the opening times have been annoyingly erratic. I wouldn't know what time it eventually opens on the days it doesn't at the stated time of 7:30am, but most of the Costa customers go to Coffee 1 as a result. That's not good business sense.
