I cannot recommend this place enough. The blonde lady working today was just amazing! We stopped at the chip shop part last time we were down and the chips are honestly second to none! So we had to come back. This time the restaurant was open AND is dog friendly! And they really mean it! Firstly, the portions are fantastic and I was only intending on having something small for lunch - that went out the window! I couldn’t even finish the chips I love so much 🤣 The lady couldn’t do enough for us, she was talking to the dogs, asked if she was ok to stroke them - which was really thoughtful and once she had given us our food, she brought out a sausage for the dogs. She was just so friendly, so welcoming and gave such a nice vibe to the place. Honestly, if you are looking for somewhere to eat, HERE! My biggest regret is that we didn’t have any cash on us as I would’ve left a tip, and the card machine didn’t give the option to 😩 Honestly, staff like this really make a place & I cannot recommend it enough!

Me and my partner were on holiday in Ilfracombe and came across this tapas restaurant, unfortunately because me and my boyfriend were not very organised we hadn’t booked anywhere. Clive was first to greet us very personal and professional explained to us that we would have to wait to see if there was an opportunity to be seated as they were very busy with the bank holiday weekend. We were served drinks by Harriet and Clive and really well looked after at the Bar with all the staff. Clive spoke to the chef and we were told we could be seated. The team were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The food and atmosphere were fantastic and we both had a great time. Specific thank you to Clive and Harriet who were both brilliant and made our evening very special. We will very much look forward to visiting them again soon.

Went in at 3pm not expecting anything different from other local fish and chip shops, but it was exceptional quality, cooked to order. The fish was lovely and thick, with a wonderfully crunchy batter. They couldn't have been nicer, I'm disabled and we had my assistance doggo with us Great food, lovely staff, and according to my son (32yrs) the milkshakes reminded him of when he was a child 😁😁😁

Went to the farm shop for the first time this year and purchased meat, cheese, bread etc for our self catering holiday in Woolacombe. Food was excellent and the staff, so friendly and helpful. It will be a first stop before getting to the apartment in Woolacombe in 2024. Cant recommend it enough.

Wow, if you’re near, this is a must. The cod is battered to perfection. The servers felt our sizes were too small and so brought us some extra portions at no extra cost. We also ordered whitebait, they accidentally gave us three portions instead of two. Everything was brilliant, and the prices are also so reasonable. If you’re wondering what to order, we felt the cod meal, which includes a side and drink. The squid tasted very fresh, so that is also recommended. The curry sauce is also a must, I’m sure the sauce is the same as the sauce used in the fish curry they offer as a main, and it is divine. Go for that too. All in all, I’d highly recommend 🙂👍🏻

Went for an impromptu early supper. The staff were great as was the food. Loved the baked figs starter and then the pork belly and beef bourguignonne. Hubby had the Cadbury egg cheesecake! Apparently not too sweet. They were very helpful re my gluten and dairy intolerance. My only downside would be that the ambience in the restaurant area could be improved.

The Best Fish and Chips in Barnstaple – Hands Down! Pelican Fish and Chips is my absolute favourite spot in Barnstaple — it’s the kind of place that reels you in once and keeps you coming back for more. The fish is always perfectly cooked, light and flaky with that golden, crispy batter you dream about. The chips? Chunky, piping hot, and just the right amount of salt and vinegar. The vibe is friendly and relaxed, and there’s a subtle seaside charm that makes you feel like you’re just steps from the ocean (even if you’re not). It’s got that classic British chippy feel, with a little splash of something special — like the Pelican crew sprinkled in a bit of sea magic. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, drop anchor here. You won’t regret it.
