News years eve meal was excellent. Best food around georgham and croyde. After the meal they pushed the tables aside to create a dance floor for a new years party. We had a fantastic evening. The staff are super friendly and attentive highly recomend this place

After a long drive from the midlands, our late Sunday lunch at the Kings Arms was really welcome. The service was efficient and the food tasty and excellent quality. We had the roast beef and roast lamb and both were very good. Generous vegetable portions too and the Yorkshire Puddings a definite highlight. Thank you!

Not our first visit to the King's Arms, certainly won't be our last. Sunday Roast is delicious. One vegetarian, one chicken. Both SoOoo good. Service is fast, efficient and friendly. There was a very large party of diners getting ready to leave as we arrived. We were seated promptly and given our menus. Once the revellers had vacated the staff cleared/cleaned/re-laid in a speedy and efficient manner. Putting everything to rights for the next sitting of diners. And in they came. We were all served quickly with true efficiency.

Fantastic Sunday roast. I don’t understand the recent comment as we were there the same day and it was absolutely delicious. We came in April this year and we just had to come back. The food is delicious, we actually came 2 days in a row, one for Sunday roast and the other for an evening meal. Impeccable service both times and gorgeous food. A real gem, definitely worth a visit or two! We will be back.

Service was good, however the roast was less than average, potatoes were less than roasted, a watery tasteless cauliflower, broccoli and cheese with no cheese. Other dull looking veg and over powering gravy. Such a shame as I’d been recommended and had really looked forward to our meal.

Love the Kings Arms. Really welcoming and food was excellent, they certainly don't hold back on their portions. I had the seafood linguine and my husband the pork with crispy crackling, absolutely delicious. We had a chat with the chef after the meal and he really knew his stuff. Staff were nice but not too friendly. The pub itself was very impressive, open planned and very relaxing. The tables were large, even for just 2 people and there was plenty of space. The food took a while to come and it was not busy that evening. The food was tasty and for what it was I found it overpriced. Both had burgers and was surprised to see instead of a wooden picks through the top of the buns to keep the burger together, was instead a sharp cutting knife on each bun instead! Was that safe?? Again, there was the option or request to add a tip with the waitress stood in front of you and the minimum tip to give was 10% which was £5 for bringing out food and taking it away! Of course, you don’t have to tip but the more shy customer would feel guilty not tipping. (I did tip 10% which is the lowest option). This is not a requirement in this country so the practice of this should be stopped, especially when they’re stood in front of you watching you tip or not. Again, dogs allowed in the eating area is not hygienic and the tipping pressure, was the only downside.

We've been here many times over the years but last night was disappointing. The food has become very expensive for a pub, £10.50 for a small starter, £25 most mains and £9 for a desert. It cost us £90 for two of us for 2 courses with 2 beers. The chef is clearly trying to be creative and adding in unusual ingredients and for me it just spoiled what could be nice food. As a pescatarian it was annoying that the two fish starters had meat added - Nduja crumb to squid (husband had this and said he couldn't taste difference anyway) and chorizo cream to mussels. As a main I had sea bass with a seafood linguine - the sea bass was just a half of one fillet so about 5cm big (disappointing for £24). The linguine came with a garlic cream sauce which was very garlicky and a bit too strong for my taste. It was served in a silly shaped bowl so it was difficult to eat and the sauce all pooled at the bottom. The whole thing covered in a salty parmesan crumb that totally overwhelmed the flavour. Parmesan is just too strong a flavour for delicate seafood. I know places are trying to be different and justify prices but frankly with good local ingredients you really don't have to mess about with food so much. Keep it simple and let the ingredients speak for themselves.

This was our third trip here in 3 years, and unlike most places the head chef (Kevin) was here on each occasion, having been here for 5 years. The menu was very interesting and varied, we both had a delicious pork dish with an amazing cider, cream and mustard sauce, it was divine. The whole atmosphere was really good, and whilst it being a food establishment, the bar area was still frequented by locals, which only added to the charm of the place. It must be said that the whole team here extremely pleasant and work very well together, both Kevin and the assistant chef Ryan were very pleasant and understated people, Ryan even gave us a lift home, and he actually lives in the opposite direction!!

The pub is cosy and atmospheric and full on a random night in early Feb. It’s warm and welcoming and everyone is super friendly, we felt immediately at home. We had the Exmoor Food Festival Menu which had a lot of choice. There was Venison and Mackeral for starters which were just beautiful. We tried all the options between a group of friends and all argued ours was best! Onto the main course. It’s hard to say how amazing the sea trout was with all its accompaniments. Each mouthful was just amazing. My husband had the pork - it was so soft and the Dijon sauce was to die for. The potato was perfectly cooked, slightly crisp on the outside and super fluffy inside. The veg was all perfect too. The puddings were varied and stunning. I had the ginger parkin with so many lovely accompaniments. Everyone else in our group loved theirs too. After reading the reviews for Sunday lunch here we had expectations. Firstly, upon booking I was advised that it wouldn't be a problem to order a gluten-free Yorkshire pudding/gluten-free lunch at the time of ordering. Upon arrival we were told that this was inaccurate information, they apologised said that they didn't know who would have told us this. Obviously they could and should find out! For a Celiac this inaccuracy would have devastating. The meal was average. Stringy, fatty, roast beef which we struggled to cut with the cutlery provided. Soft tasteless roast potatoes, we prefer crispy. The array of vegetables was excellent and perfectly cooked. The gravy was watery and tasteless. The waitress told us that she would bring gluten-free cauliflower cheese later, it never arrived. The pub itself is charming, warm, a cosy log burner, lovely surroundings. Such a shame the food let it down. We regularly dine out for Sunday Lunch , therefore comparisons are naturally made.

This was a disappointing visit; too many "little" things amiss to ignore. (In My Opinion) The Landlord is very welcoming and cheery but dresses and presents himself "unsuitably" even for a country pub serving food. Neither he nor the table crew know too much about the dishes on the menu. The pie was NOT shortcrust pastry. Portions are generous and I think better quality for smaller portions may pay off! Starters were the best part of theist.

We asked if there were any tables downstairs and were moved straight away to a cosy table downstairs. The main restaurant area is lovely and very busy but with a nice atmosphere. Lots of people with well behaved dogs, which was nice to see. The staff were friendly and attentive. THE FOOD: Well what can i say!? It was absolutely gorgeous. Easily the best roast dinner I've ever had and my husband had the vegetable Wellington and said exactly the same thing. Full of flavour with veggies and a Yorkshire pudding and accompanying cauliflower and broccoli cheese, and cabbage in separate dishes, plus meat and veggie gravy boats. We ordered pudding, and again, we were not disappointed, it was absolutely delicious! We would definitely rate it 10/10 and would book again in a heartbeat if we were ever this way again.

I lived in Thailand for 3 years, and the food here is better than most I had in Thailand! Very authentic ingredients, incredibly friendly staff, and very accommodating (special shout out to Sam and Kirsty 🤗). Great atmosphere, would definitely recommend.

Really cute place, even on a rainy day. Went for lunch with friends and we had a lovely time. Portion sizes are great and it's reasonably priced!

We had a warm welcome. The staff were attentive. We were seated at the far end of the dining room which could have been warmer..it was the only table for six apparently - I suggest it is moved nearer to the bar as we were the only customers in that part of the building. Our food was hot & tasty and it was good to have smaller portion options. Thank you for a happy lunch.

We visited this restaurant whilst in town for a few days, it’s a small place so make sure you book. The food was very good, well presented and perfectly seasoned. The service too was attentive and friendly. We would happily come here again, it’s a very good and well ran place.

Enjoyed a lovely pot of coffee and a flapjack whilst typing up some work, overlooking the estuary. Lovely day. Staff attentive and polite. Good service.
