Best fish and chips we have ever had.

The best chippy by far, everything they do is just on another level. Special mention for the lad that made the flat white (on 18/03/24) it was perfect, the wife noticed the great design on the coffee top too.

Messed up large booking 10 of us sat in confined seating, because they messed up booking felt rushed. Mediocre burger didn't taste nice or quality. Not a nice experience not relaxed at all.

Having been recommended to visit we were not disappointed. We have been walking the South West coastal path and in need of a quality fish and chips. This is definitely the restaurant to visit. Outstanding customer service, Cherry was a breath of fresh air with her energy and enthusiasm passionate about her business. Highly recommended 👏👏👏

Never fails to please. Always a friendly warm welcome. The meals are always cooked to perfection. And you get asked if you want more chips free. We aim to visit at least once per month

Had take away fish n chips on recommendation of an acquaintance. It was ok meal, clean environment and we could see active hygiene being practised in the fry area. Would try them again if back in area.

Don't bother going to any other fish & chip restaurant- Squires are ahead by a mile. Consistent quality with white flaky fish in a crisp batter with the best chios ever. A great selection of wines, fantastic service, you won't be disappointed.

Good bit of salmon great customer service.. standard fish and chips. Mushie peas were way too vinegary unfortunately

I have just had one of the best customer experiences ever. Not only was the food absolutely excellent the service was even better. The place runs like clock work with everyone knowing what to do. Dessert was disappointing compared to the fish and chips

On a recent trip to Braunton, we had a takeaway fish and chips from Squires. The Fish was very good with a nice crispy light batter, and the chips were crisp and light brown. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Excellent restaurant with take away outlet. 10/10

Staff always friendly and efficient. Owner goes above and beyond when it's a special occasion. Food is always great. Mini cod and chips is a really good portion size. They have a good range of non fish options as well. Their homemade burgers are really tasty. My favourite chippy 🥰

Cod was big and very nice , chips was OK, mushy peas let it down I asked for mushy and to be fair some of them was hard . Peas let it down or it would of been 5 star . Service from the staff was top notch 👌 the lady was very polite , pleasant , bar staff (male ) was very friendly and polite, young lad (17 18) was very polite well mannered, had issue with salt shaker ( not a big problem) but he sorted the issue out very quick , will go back again .all the staff that was on today was a credit to squires ... keep up the great work 👍

Faultless! Easy to order take-out online, wide range of vegetarian options, Quorn burgers are very good and portion sizes are bang on. Food itself is delicious We used to use Lynbay in Ilfracombe regularly but their portions are now suitable only for kids....Squires on the other hand are spot on, will be returning whenever in the area

Squires welcomed our big family group of 14 and attentively completed our orders. The food arrived after quite a short wait and was delicious. There's plenty of it, too, with good-sized portions. In respect of price, it compares well alongside restaurant fare. The staff were very good and checked in on our table, frequently ensuring we didn't want anything more. The surroundings are bright and upmarket for a humble fish and chip shop with comfortable seats, big windows, and a balcony. For those needing a comfort break, the facilities are very clean with good products for cleansing. I would highly recommend this place.

I love this place, my family and i come here everytime we're in Devon :) We have a joke in the family calling it the "best fish and chip shop" I love it so much, that we drove an hour & a half once, just to come here for dinner for my birthday :) A waiter heard my sister wish me happy birthday, and he came over and wished me happy birthday. The only downside of my experience here, is when they forgot my parents food and after we waited half an hour for it, they apologised and gave us a free dessert.

Without a doubt the best fish and chips around and the most helpful staff. We'll be back again in the new year

Just went in to place a takeaway order and the child behind the counter had a stupid grin on her face and was laughing when I asked what was so funny she said oh nothing I can’t find the button for the order so I left. I called and asked to speak with a manager and the girl that answered went straight into defensive mode saying I know her she’s not like that. Not even bothered about loosing a paying customer and I even had to prompt her for an apology very poor service right out off the gate I’m glad they feel they can treat customers like this in these difficult Financial Times way to go SQUIRES

Had take away fish and chips. Very busy, but extremely good value, some of the best fish and chips we've had anywhere. Cod was fresh and well cooked, batter not too thick but still crispy, chips done perfectly with fresh oil. Definitely recommend!

Have been going as part of our yearly visit to Croyde - would never not go! Delicious food, huge portions. We go in a very large group and the service is always spot on.

Wow. What a find. We were told (TOLD!) by a local parent we met in a soft play centre to come here and we were not disappointed! Brilliant service from door to table and the food was superb. The fish is very fresh and the portions are very good. Table service and drinks were timely and the requests we had during the meal were dealt with swiftly and perfectly. A great place to have proper sit down fish and chips and there’s even a takeaway part to the business next door. If you’re in the area then this is a must!

Fish the best you can get. Chips cooked nicely and we had onion rings that are the best. So all very good will keep going.

As this has a great local reputation for great food we would try some. The staff were terrific attentive and helpful. The place was very clean welcoming and warm. The Fish and chips were very tasty with just the tight amount if batter. The fish cakes were full of Cod and very generous. They have several meal deals which I include tea or coffee or soft drink. They even have a car park opposite as there is limited parking on the road. Last but not least the toilets were imaculate. It cost £25 for Cod & Chips with peas and a pot of tea & Fish Cakes + chips and tea. We thought this was very reasonable and they also offered extra chips.

Delicious food, clean and bright restaurant and lovely welcoming staff. You can ask for extra chips if you don't have enough, they do this to save waste from dishing up massive portions.

This is not the first time that takeaway meals do not match the quality of their restaurant meals. Our fish portions were small and overcooked. Had they arrived on a plate we would have complained.

Had fish & chips from the takeaway on Saturday afternoon. Service was awful, very rude young man who reluctantly served me, no please or thank you. Staff working in the background all looked very miserable. Fish & chips very average and curry sauce horrible.

Never fails to deliver! Came here for the first time about 40 years ago and it's just as good now as it was then. Has had a makeover since we last came in 2013. Didn't need it in my opinion but its looking fabulous! Food was amazing and so reasonably priced. My advice would be to book a table. Only waited a few minutes for ours as we didn't book! Staff look happy and are really welcoming. 10/10 for everything. Even the loos were pristine!

I promised my wife decent weather and the reviews promised great food. Neither disappointed! I had the small cod option ( don’t know how anyone manages the special! ) My wife had various fish in Thermidor sauce. The batter my cod was just right in order to taste the fish and the chips were fab. Wife was very impressed by her dish. The raspberry in the Prosecco was well received and the Pinot & Sauvignon first rate! Coffee was also spot on. Service was prompt and cheerful. A return visit is a must!

What a pleasant surprise finding so nice delicious traditional fish & chips. I must of been really hungry as I can't fault the food and professionalism of this place. We pre ordered. And generous portions of fish and chips done perfectly at reasonable price. Was waiting for us (four of us). Definitely the highlight of our holiday.

Squires was amazing. We had to queue outside for a few minutes (very busy) but we were shown to our table on time and the service was fast, smooth, and friendly. Very nice food, all good. Recommended.

Impossible not to come to this long established award winning fish and chips restaurant in Braunton. A warm friendly welcome is always available, as is the sumptuous food! Have the award winning cod and chips (and curry sauce), wash it down with a milkshake and leave space for dessert - have the biscoff cheesecake. Highly recommended ❤️❤️

Came here on a friend's recommendation and it didn't disappoint. As we drove up we could see the queue for the restaurant and the takeaway and when we got to the door we could see why, from the friendly greeting when you first arrive nothing disappoints, the service was friendly and fast (it seemed like seconds after we sat down that the food arrived) and the food was delicious, and plentiful too. Looking forward to going there again

Ordered for 10 of us click and collect at Braunton. All fish portions were larger than expected, even smaller portions. Fish was fresh and well cooked, chips good too. Happy to recommend a really good chippy.

Amazing young staff!! This place ticks all the boxes! You will need to book at the height of the season as it's very popular, but there is a takeaway option as a backup. This is a traditional fish & chip done very well. Smart modern premise with a very pleasant ambience. Traditional fish & chip menu with a few extras. Fresh fish, cooked to perfection and well presented. The standout for me was the really excellent young servers, charming to talk to and could not do enough for you. A real credit to the restaurant and to their generation. Well done all!!

Very good fish and chips, best I've had in a long time. I can also very much recommend the home made fish cake, that was a lovely unique addition, would've liked some onion rings but couldn't order any online. The online ordering system was also overall very good although would've liked more options, like different sizes of haddock when large was the only one available online when other sizes where available on store. Other than that, very impressed! 😁

Shocking service.. despite booking we had to wait to be seated. The food was underwhelming and definitely missed the mark. Members of the group waited over 20 minutes for their mains, despite being promised 10 minutes. Aperol spritz was soda water with a dash of orange. Would not recommend and will definitely not be returning.

The best fish and chip restaurant ever! Simply superb and impeccable service at a very reasonable price. Many other restaurants could learn from Squires about how to provide great food with great service at a great price.

Great quality fish and chips, large portions and value for money. Kids enjoyed their meals and milkshakes and the adult’s meals were also delicious. We turned up without a booking and we’re accommodated after shifting around some tables. We also had a couple of issues with our order which were taken care of immediately, without question. Fantastic atmosphere, the place was buzzing in a Saturday night!
