We always use this chinese takeaway, and have always been pleased. I don't mind paying if the dishes go up in price, but when you get less and pay more ,it's a bit galling. I asked the man on the phone why we only get 8 chicken balls instead of the 10 that used to come with the order. He said its always been 8, but when I said I was looking at the menu, he checked and said its an old menu. Well, it hasn't always been 8 then has it, no-one likes being ripped off, and don't lie.

Mothers day menu had 3 meat main courses and no fish option - vegetarian option was roast cauliflower and the starter was cauliflower soup. Staff were very helpful but service was very slow. The roast was overcooked and the cauliflower was burnt. The roast potatoes were overdone and all the veg overcooked and limp. Overall the food quality was extremely poor. The staff accepted this and said that only one "chef" was working that day.
The wine waiter did not show me the bottle to check it was correct and did not offer the wine to be tasted before slopping it into our glasses.
We sent back the food, paid for the drinks and left.
Very disappointing.

I didn't get a pasty tbh I'm rating this entirely 5* for the dudes metal playlist 😂🔥🎶 I'm here for all of it Sunday at 8:45am
Smells banging, Right outside the service station can't miss it
Probably a scary dude but a nice guy like most metal heads 👊🏻🤣
I messed my order and rang up and they were extremely helpful and sorted it out pretty much straight away and food and delivery was good aswell definitely order again 👍
I mean where to start. Forced to use the machine to order cause nobody could be bothered to come out front. Ordered from the machine to find 75% of the cold order items were not out on the counters. When we FINALLY found someone to tell this too, we got shrug shoulders and that's all we have out so you can't have it. No apologies, no would you like your money back, just you can't have it.
Next there were no mugs available for our hot drinks and again no member of staff to say this too. So I ended up using take away cups.
The food was abysmal, microwaved rubbish. Half a plate of scrambled eggs for breakfast. Fried bread was just a wedge on a plate. Black pudding that tasted like plasticine. Mushrooms were like bullets and the fattiest piece of bacon I've ever seen. My partner had a jacket potato and that was rock solid. Jesus Christ it was bad.
Wish I could give minus stars. This needs to be sorted out quick
I have read and heard mixed things about this place so thought I’d try it for myself. It’s been nearly 8 years since I visited this place but WOW what a difference. Newly refurbished in 2024 new management and if I’m honest new pub. Gone are the sleazy look’s dodgy deals and scary atmosphere. I’ve now been in several times since Christmas 2024 and always a warm welcome from the staff.
Maria & Kirsty the new management have turned this place around 100% it’s now a well run safe place to go. No food but they don’t mind you having your own with one of their drinks of course. It feels like a traditional family pub should be. I was in last week and met Maria for the first time what a sweet landlady she is no nonsense take her as you find. She was working with her father-in-law and he made us so welcome a great asset to this place nice to see a family working together.
I have seen the place very quiet and very busy the staff are always polite yet firm with impatient customers. Lots of students and of course locals a real mix of Exeter people. Great to see they have free pool on a Wednesday , a student discount every day and karaoke on Sunday.
one night I heard the Landlady sing she was brilliant. I love watching how much the staff interact with each other and customers it’s nice to see customers shout the staff by name when they start and end a shift. All I can say is keep it up I’ll be back more often from now on.
Thank you

Pricey... If you're not up for that the Toby carvery nearby is the excellent alternative. But GOOD. Imaginative, well prepared menu and staff coped well with a sudden impromptu gathering of old friends.
Fabulous find, warm welcome on arrival.
Server Molly was extremely helpful. The food was tasty and good sized portions. View of the river a real bonus. Lovely atmosphere .Will definitely visit again .
Was here last week during my lunch time, had a very nice young man named Arnav who helped me order, staff was very kind, bins need a bit more cleaning though.
Went here a couple of weeks ago on Saturday afternoon. Ordered a tea and it was fine. Sadly, I found the staff a bit rude. The name on the cup was wrong, and although I didn't mind that at all, when I mentioned it (because I was worried I had taken someone else's drink) the lady serving was quite obnoxious and sarcastic. I had been polite myself. When I went to the table to have the drink, I could hear the man working on the till complaining that i had mentioned this, in a way that made me feel I was being made fun of. I wouldn't go here again and it doesn't surprise me that this place has the lowest reviews I've ever seen on here.
On our way to Cornwall the Moto services at the end of the M5 at Exeter is a good place to stop. A great Costa coffee with all the usual food and drink. Great service and friendly staff. Toilets, petrol and numerous EV chargers
