Such a shame… lovely staff and good vibe. The Mother’s Day menu was very limited especially for vegetarians, food was terrible. I do want this place to be successful. Wish you could get it together. Exeter needs better.

Poor service. Tables covered with used crockery.
Could look into kitchen whilst waiting in the long queue. Full trays on the floor. Have alerted Trading Standards.
I messed my order and rang up and they were extremely helpful and sorted it out pretty much straight away and food and delivery was good aswell definitely order again 👍
I mean where to start. Forced to use the machine to order cause nobody could be bothered to come out front. Ordered from the machine to find 75% of the cold order items were not out on the counters. When we FINALLY found someone to tell this too, we got shrug shoulders and that's all we have out so you can't have it. No apologies, no would you like your money back, just you can't have it.
Next there were no mugs available for our hot drinks and again no member of staff to say this too. So I ended up using take away cups.
The food was abysmal, microwaved rubbish. Half a plate of scrambled eggs for breakfast. Fried bread was just a wedge on a plate. Black pudding that tasted like plasticine. Mushrooms were like bullets and the fattiest piece of bacon I've ever seen. My partner had a jacket potato and that was rock solid. Jesus Christ it was bad.
Wish I could give minus stars. This needs to be sorted out quick

Produce bins of plastic waste by making their espresso from single use coffee pods. By grinding fresh beans they could serve better coffee and reduce their waste.

Pricey... If you're not up for that the Toby carvery nearby is the excellent alternative. But GOOD. Imaginative, well prepared menu and staff coped well with a sudden impromptu gathering of old friends.
My husband lost his wallet in Exeter so the following day we returned to places we had visited to ask if it had been handed in. The staff at Samuel Jones had found our wallet, kept it and also tried to trace us. It’s lovely to find such honesty and we are extremely grateful.
Thank you Samuel Jones staff.
Went here a couple of weeks ago on Saturday afternoon. Ordered a tea and it was fine. Sadly, I found the staff a bit rude. The name on the cup was wrong, and although I didn't mind that at all, when I mentioned it (because I was worried I had taken someone else's drink) the lady serving was quite obnoxious and sarcastic. I had been polite myself. When I went to the table to have the drink, I could hear the man working on the till complaining that i had mentioned this, in a way that made me feel I was being made fun of. I wouldn't go here again and it doesn't surprise me that this place has the lowest reviews I've ever seen on here.
We've been here a few times just for drinks and it's very nice. This time I booked a table before an evening out, specifically to share the cheese and meat platters (advertised on the website), along with our wine so we weren't drinking on an empty stomach.
When we arrived at 5pm we were told the platters were not available. Apparently they are very rarely available, we were told. Please do not advertise something that you cannot deliver.
Because of this we stayed for one drink then went and had food elsewhere. You missed out on around £100 of spending over a couple of hours.
