Where do I start!!! Ordered here tonight, food turned up with missing sweet and sour chicken balls.. the sauce turned up so we got half off it 🤣🤣 called them up and according to them it was written down wrong so there fault.. asked them if they can bring over the remaining dinner and they said only if I pay the £4 delivery charge.. are you joking it’s not my mistake. By now I was getting very frustrated as if it had happened to any other Chinese they would have been happy to replace and bring down. The girl on the phone then carried on to laugh at me, great customer service 😡 Pissed off now, I asked for a refund and then she said she can’t give me a refund unless I go to the shop.. so now they want me to travel to them to get my refund, unbelievable 😡😡 the food wasn’t even that nice.. so basically they just didn’t want to help, they just took my money and couldn’t care less. Avoid avoid avoid avoid

Very friendly service. I ordered takeaway and it was ready very quickly. Large portions, I had sweet and sour pork (Hong Kong style) and my wife had sweet and sour chicken (also Hong Kong style). I loved it and would definitely go here again if in the area.

This was a nice treat for us on our last evening of our Devon Adventure. We ordered a selection of dishes and were told the order would be with us between 45 min to 1 hour. 45 minutes later, it was with us and we were soon tucking in to a mixed starter, rice dishes, chicken, duck, beef - you name it, all were very good and very reasonably priced too. Delivery man was polite and helpful and it is nice to find an excellent takeaway that delivers on time!

Lived in Exeter in various areas for over 20 years, always still use this chinese. Great value for money. Always get what I order and in good time.

Very pleasantly surprised by their food! Lovely meat and veggie options which were good quality, tasty, and not too oily. A brief complication with ordering but after that the delivery was speedy and the food was great. Definitely our new Chinese takeaway go-to.

We have had takeaways many times before here however tonight I can only say it's been spot on ! The lady who took my order was so polite and helpful . The food is exactly how we requested due to amendments and the food came very quickly. The delivery driver was really polite too. 😁

Cannot complain about the food here! Outstanding every time we order! The staff work very hard in making sure everything is on top form. Shoutout to Mary who is always so lovely and welcoming when anyone walks in! Will continue to order from these guys as we love it!

Just had a large £80 order and I've never been so disappointed in a Chinese meal before. No flavour, dry and you could tell a lot of it was pre made days or weeks before.

Phoned through an order for delivery. Delivery arrived missing the rice. Called to advised and was offered a credit note!! No rice with a curry I asked. Ok will send out with next delivery driver. How long I asked 45 minutes!! So I drove over to collect. Having got my rice I requested my £3 delivery charge back as I had to collect. After a few arguments it was returned. I must say the food was good but service shocking. Won't be returning will use the Four Seasons, just up the road which has great reviews and is slot cheaper.

So i placed an order for collection .collected drove home an sweet an sour chicken was missing and a bag of chips in its place.i returned an they replaced chips with sweet an sour which was sitting on the side.i asked them for fuel reimbursement as they would have charged me £3 if they delivered an was met with a take the food or take a credit .when i replied the food was now cold their was no offer to reheat or replace .eventually after realising their customer service was non exitant i left an went home to cold chinese only to find that i was short on the amount of chicken balls offered in the menu . Staff service was abysmal order was wrong an cold .lesson learnt dont go their again .

We just had a takeaway delivery the first time since lockdown it was fabulous thank you to the friendly delivery lady I absolutely.

cant beleive i paid so much for frozen chicken strips from Aldi. all dishes very poor. chow main noodles not fresh. i could go on. half duck i ordered was two legs. just poor. shame.

Couldn’t eat 1 mouthful the duck chop suey. Greasy, slimy, fatty, bland. Haven’t seen food this bad before.

Used Ming Wah for many years. I love the fact that you can see through to the kitchen whilst the food is being prepared. The veg always taste crisp and fresh - I don't know of a better takeaway anywhere.

Sad to say I feel as though this takeaway has gone down hill. Not sure if it has had a change of ownership or chef or a combination of the two! I had always used this place before moving and wasn’t sure if I’d get a delivery to where we are now. Shocked to hear we did so was delighted to be able to order. The trays of house special fired rice had two prawns in the whole tray which was disappointing and the tray seem to have shrunk and the duck with mushrooms was more mushrooms than duck which was tiny grisly bits. The chicken balls were so greasy we couldn’t eat them. I know times are changing and prices are going up but that is no excuse for poor food. Sad to say won’t be ordering again.

Avoid as there's a girl who answers the phone who's clearly unskilled in customer service, I placed an order and she wanted to charge me over the odds, she spoke to her manager and eventually I paid the correct price, the following week I ordered exactly the same and yet again the price had gone up! She has no idea and no doubt has ripped off quite a few customers, not me anymore, gone!

Not worthy of the 1 star! We haven’t ordered from here for years because the one across the road is incredible! They were closed today, chicken is in square cubes, nothing tastes of anything except grease. Sweet and sour sauce was sugar water. I really think the owner/ cook needs to order a few basic meals from Four Seasons and compare to their own. I’ll eat cat food before I eat at Ming Wah again.

PLEASE READ, POTENTIALLY UNSAFE FOOD BEING SOLD Ordered lemon chicken last night, was inedible. Lemon sauce was weak and sour, the lemons weren't fresh and the chicken was as dry as the Sahara. I'd ordered previously and thought I'd give them a second chance. My partner ordered the same as me and they didn't get that right either. I'm upset that the chef had the audacity to sell me disgusting food without first tasting it. Asked for a refund and the best they could do was deliver me more awful food. The chicken curry me and my partner chose was watery, the onions were limp and tasteless and the chicken was rubbery and jellified. Another inedible meal. To anyone thinking of ordering here please go to the other Chinese's further in Whipton and Pinhoe. I'm convinced this premises is selling out of date, unsafe food to the point where refunds aren't even an option because the business would just sink. I've notified food hygiene as I'm heavily pregnant and don't appreciate being sold out of date food. I've ordered here 3 times before and every order has been daylight robbery. Enough is enough.

I ordered 5 items. 2 rice, 2 chicken dishes and 1 prawn crackers. The 2 chicken dishes were not what I ordered and to late to call back to sort it out. I called back the next time they opened and explained the problem. Ming Wah take away told me nothing they can do because I didn't call on the night of delivery. Very disappointed as this was a monthly treat and the incorrect dishes were not to my taste and went in the bin. So I paid £23 for 2 portions of egg fried and a bag crackers. NEVER AGAIN!

No screens, no masks, no social distancing or ventilation. Expect to be kept waiting in confined space even after ordering online and waiting 20 mins appointed pick up time. We would not return due to disregard of covid rules and risk to public health.

Food was nice but order I collected was wrong. I asked for Chicken Curry, got beef!? Wife asked for Mushroom Chow Mein, got chicken!? Luckily was both like the incorrect dishes!

I was going to get dinner yesterday evening and ended up in posloe bridge and all the other take always were closed . I ended up going in Mingwah. On entering the staff and drivers were eating from the same plate on the worktop counter …. Is this aloud. I should have walked out then . I Ordered my food which took 3 minutes as it was already cooked and resting in a warm plate. I should have definitely walked away then. Got home and through the food in the bin … absolute crap… dont eat here. I will never go in their again. It should be closed down and I used to use it all the time. 🤢

Ordered chicken sweetcorn soup which was ok amd beef with onions which tasted horrific far to rich the sauce it was sickly,couldn't even eat more than a forkful, I then moved on the the crispy spring rolls that looked like they had been cooked a week before,all shrivelled and soft..disgusting I wasted£20 on rubbish. Sorry ming wah that's the 3rd bad meal now you've just lost another good customer as I won't be returning now

Egg fried rice good sweet and sour chicken balls not bad but curry sauce, sweet and sour sauce and chicken in garlic sauce were all like water. Sauces diluted to the extreme.

Delicious food. We order from here regularly, and are never dissapointed at the quality and taste of the food. My favouroute is Duck Chow Mein - a lot of taste and a good amount of meat. Good value. Would recommend it to anyone, and would drive miles to get there!

Ordered food explain to English women on phone no sea food in both dishes as get same dish all the time she did not tell chef was in hospital for week. Do u to allergies reaction

Recommended to me by a friend. It lived up to my expectations. If you like spicy like me, ask for them to hot it up. The house crispy chilli dish is to die for! I will be working my way through their menu 👍

placed a very large order. told 45min - 1hr wait. called after 1.20 and told on way. called again after 1.40, lady that answered said would contact delivery driver and explained short staffed. whilst waiting, delivery turned up, missing rice and food cold. I explained my frustration having to wait so long and asked for refund on missing rice. she went to speak to owner who told her "nothing can do". I felt sorry for the lady on phone who was really trying to help, but management/owner was unwilling to rectify their mistake or even apologise for the late and cold food. the food itself wasn't the standard we have received from previous establishments. Will not use again!

Having been a while here,food ordered and bearing in mind we are in lockdown and a Saturday night service was prompt food tasty and deliveries taking up to 90mins

Have had better but local and hungry, a lazy eve when I couldn't be bothered to cook. Plenty of meats but rather overcooked. A disappointment, perhaps it was a bad day.

This was our 3rd order in a row over a few weeks (didn’t want to write them off straight away) and it was awful again. All meals cold, chips were more like crisps. Asked for a meal to be extra hot as it said on menu and it arrived with no spice what’s so ever. Another dish was chicken with pineapple and what we got was a tin of pineapple with some chicken. So so disappointed after using them for so long. Time to find a new favourite 😢😢😢😢😢

Phone order through at 5.55pm & paid by card. Gave name address & telephone number payment all went through. Lady read my name & full address confirmed. Said delivery would be an hour at 7.30pm chasing up delivery to be told they haven’t got an order in my name checked my telephone number to see if they could find ticket they had the last digit wrong on that. After 5 minutes confirmed the delivery had gone to wrong address said they would re cook the meal & deliver at 8.15pm we strongly said if the meal is not here by 8.15pm we did not want it. At 8.16pm the lady said the food had just left the kitchen & it did arrive at 8.25. The chips were cold old & wrinkled just awful the sweet & sour balls were so hard you could not eat them the special fried rice was dry & this meal had obviously been warmed up. I cannot believe as a business you would let your pride down as a chef & delivery such a dire meal nobody in business should allow themselves to sink that low. A good businessman would have re cooked a fresh meal & delivered with pride. Might I say we have been using this Chinese for 2 years on a regular basis I am lost for words that they clearly do not give a dam about their business. KEEP AWAY THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER TAKE AWAYS IN WHIPTON ... Avoid this place Photos attached

Brilliant takeaway - the food is by far the best and freshest of any chinese takeaway we've tried, and we've tried almost all of them. We've been ordering food from here for 10 years. Very disappointed to see so many negative reviews on here. A common thread seems to be "I've used them for years, but they've messed up 2 orders, so I've given them one star" - such an awful way of reviewing - if you've used them for 10 years, how do they deserve one star?!!?! I do agree that organisationally they could improve. We've definitely had some issues where the food hasn't arrived quickly or a dish is wrong or missing. They've been great about it when we've let them know and usually have dropped the dish around at the next opportunity - but ultimately this is where the risk lies. I have no recollection of the food ever dissapointing - some of the other restaurants and takeouts being above this one in score is simply ridiculous - really strikes me as some organised attempt as discrediting it.

This place is convenient and delivers to Sowton/Digby. Really love the prawn and vegetarian dishes. It’s reasonably priced - but the extras cost a crazy amount, so don’t do that! For example, we added cashews to our prawn dish and it was the same price as the actual dish so seemed pointless. It’s quick and they will take a card payment over the phone if you have no cash, makes life pretty simple. They always add prawn crackers to our order which is nice.

Once I had ordered I went outside to wait, I turned back to see the counter assistant put his hand in the pan from which the 'chef' was cooking, took out a bit of food and put it straight into his mouth, no gloves, no hand washing and the chef let him do that, it was probably our food being cooked. GROSS. What we ordered was dry, overcooked, possibly old old duck.. It was terrible, never going there again. Considering the terrible reviews on line i'm surprised it's still open. I would give it a zero if i could!!!!!!

Terrible meal for 2 people £17.50. We both ordered king prawn meals. We had 9 little prawns each. The meal was made up of wishy washy sauce and onions. I did complain. The owner said it was a very generous portion!!

Takeaway was missing a dish, no problem mistakes happen. Phoned straight away, was told to wait and they’d send the dish. Nothing came, no calls etc. Phoned on Friday night, a helpful guy took the details and apologised, phoned back to offer credit to spend at the takeaway. Called to order a few days later and they now decide to not allow us to use most of the credit! Remarkable customer service, offering a refund and then withdrawing it... Needless to say, they’ve lost their regulars but they won’t mind. Shame they couldn’t listen to the guy who spoke to us originally (who they said had authorised the credit refund without consulting). I’ve never made a complaint before, but felt pretty hard done by. Stay well clear, they could and really should have handled this a lot better. How can you withdraw a refund! Craziness.

Having read the reviews below me, it seems this is a regular occurrence - if you're reading this then DO NOT BOTHER. Go elsewhere, it isn't work the phone call to try and get a meal out of them. One dish was wrong (missing extra items). Half of the order did not show up, we called to ask where it was. We were told it would be re-delivered. We waited downstairs for them to arrive. Two hours later and, with no knocks and no phone calls, we gave up and went to bed. The next day we phoned them to ask for a refund. We were given £20 to spend during our next order - the member of staff we spoke to was apologetic and helpful. However, when calling a few days later to use the credit given, we were told it was no longer available to us as the staff member had not been 'authorised' to refund us. Not only this, we were then lied to and told that they had attempted to redeliver the missing items that night, despite no missed calls or knocks at the front door. After MUCH negotiating, rudeness and arguing (the phone call lasted almost thirty minutes) we managed to get a £10 refund back. Don't waste your time, even the food they managed to deliver to us was slimy and full of salt.

I don't like writing poor reviews but this time I feel I have to. Eventually,after trying to get through for ages, managed to place a phone order for a takeaway to be delivered and told very busy so would be an hour - in fact it was hour and half when it finally arrived. Part of our order was missing, the prawn balls in batter were overcooked and almost inedible and the chips were cold and hard. The rest of the order was ok but sadly it has put me off using them again.

DO NOT ORDER! Food was absolutely vile used to be the best Chinese around 4 yrs ago ordered for the first time from Ming wah this evening in 4 yrs! And to say the least food was disgusting! The curry sauce taste like a packet mix of curry sauce! The chickens balls was so dry and the batter soggy, the sour sauce tasted absolutely vile tasted nothing like a sour sauce, I think someone needs to sack the chefs! And close the place down! £40 thrown straight in the bin.

I have used Ming Wah for many and told people how great they are BUT NOT ANYMORE. I ordered a takeaway which came to £37 so free delivery NO they still changed me £4 for delivery. When I complained they said that in small print the owner can charge for delivery if he wants to . I WILL NEVER ORDER FOOD FROM THERE AGAIN AND WILL BE TELLING ALL MY FRIENDS

Food yummy as always but getting expensive...2 meals £26!!! Delivery nice and quick, nice delivery driver and able to order easily over the phone.

We love Ming Wah, great shredded chilli beef and sweet and sour chicken balls! But you need to check that you have everything you ordered, especially if a delivery!! Staff really friendly and Ming, the owner always there cooking and a really nice guy.

Cuestioné esto, ya que el menú lo tiene impreso que es gratuito para más de 30, pero dijeron que siempre han cobrado la entrega a menos que el pedido sea de 35 o más. ¡Basura! !También todos los precios han subido en torno al 30%! !

Price has increased by 30% in 2 weeks. Won't go there again. Meal was £19.50, called somewhere nearby £14.70.

I used to appreciate having to give the driver the first £3 of my bill but now they seem to have made that an additional charge. Team that with a new, more expensive menu, and my bill has gone from an average £18-£19 to Over £24. Just to kick a man when he’s down they also got my order wrong. The only reason it’s 2 stars and not 1 is what they sent actually tasted alright and my wife seemed to enjoy hers. Won’t be going back.

Lovely staff and lovely food, enjoyed it all. Will try again soon and get something different.

When ordered was told 1hr after 140 mins wait called to find out were it was was told to hold line then got hung up on called back 10 mins later was told was with delivery driver 10mins later it turned up chips were rock hard and everything else was luke worm not good Experience driver was nice and polite though We will not be ordering again

Vivimos en Pinhoe a menos de 10 minutos en coche desde la toma de un camino. Las últimas veces la comida ha tenido elementos faltantes o incorrectos. Nos hemos quejado pero hemos perseverado ya que tenían nuevo personal. Esta noche fue la última gota. Ordenamos a las 6 pm, entrega habitual en 45 minutos, esta noche dijo 1 hora a 1. 15 minutos, esto estaba bien. Llamamos dos veces ya que la comida no llegó, 7. 30 nos dijeron que el conductor se fue hace 5 minutos y fuimos los primeros en la lista. A las 8 pm volvimos a llamar, llegó la comida a las 8. 15 piedras frías tenían que calentarse, uno de los platos se suponía que era picante, ninguno lo era. En el teléfono nos dijeron que estaba muy ocupado en la tienda, por lo que obviamente esto significa que las entregas no son tan importantes. Realmente decepcionado, ha sido un habitualCliente desde hace más de 10 años. ¡Ya no usaremos más las miradas que iremos 2 minutos a pie al Po Lee!

First time used this Chinese as it had been recommended, WORST food ever!

Use to be one of the best chineses in Exeter unfortunately has gone really down hill over the past 12 months food is now bland and no taste on the verge of disgusting defiantly won’t be ordering from here ever again sad really coz they use to be so good.

Awful!!!!!! customer service. I am a regular customer and will definitely will not be going there again. I phoned up to collect, the man I was speaking to was clearly new, which is absolutely fine. He did say he was training so I said I would reread the order out just to double check, he said he had it all down the same. Got our food home thought the chicken balls looked small so cut it to find it was prawn balls.. Phoned up only to be spoken to so rudely! Was told I would have to bring them back to prove I wasn’t lying, I said I would like the chicken balls but to have my money back on them as I was having to drive back (20min round drive). No apology at all! Was told I would be only getting the difference back and no refund and that she was being fair? And that he’s training (I don’t care when you are rude and have no service skills) And Her catch phrase was ‘see what I mean?’ No! I do not see what you mean, I would have still been paying full price for them even though they had made the mistake and I had to drive out again. After many times of repeating myself she agreed to give me a few £s more back. We bought them back, asked how many was in there we counted out the 9 left (one cutting up at home) she then said she couldn’t give us the full amount she said because we hadn’t bought back all 10???!!! We’re you planning on giving them to someone else? Ridiculous, for the sake of giving me a refund on chicken balls you’ve lost a regular customer. Such a rude woman.

Atroz servicio al cliente, dejando a un empleado mal preparado para tratar (y supuestamente usar su criterio) para tratar una queja del cliente (anteriormente regular). ¡Nunca más!

After a 2 hour wait for our food we were very disappointed. We have been loyal customers for many years but the food tasted old, like it had been in the fridge for several days, it was also cold, we had to reheat it. Never again.

Ordered food at 7:15 the lady said it would take an hour which we reluctantly agreed to, at 8:25 I called back to double check the order. The woman on the phone advised me the ticket had been lost so they had to return to recook it so it didn't go cold, this would have been fine if she let us know!! Aswell as this we didn't get any prawn crackers that we actually ordered and we had to microwave our food when it finally arrived an hour and fifty five minutes later!!! We have never eaten here before but we certainly will not again! Was also expected to pay for the full order with not even a sorry.. and cold food and not even a full order! Absolutely ridiculous...

He estado usando esto para llevar ahora durante dos años después de encontrar la caída de calidad en los lugares que normalmente usaría. Siempre he tenido comidas increíbles de Ming Wah, los ingredientes son notablemente frescos (incluso la salsa agridulce tiene notas frescas de estragón y anís estrellado) y no parecen ser los genéricos de una caja congelada a granel que algunos lugares ordenan stock desde.

A lot of people want something for nothing reading these posts, overall good food at a good price, when it gets busy can be late but they always tell me, seems there are a lot of people out here just bashing them for no reason! They seem to live in a world of blame and claim and expect something for nothing, no one can guarantee times in this fast paced environment especially when it is very busy, have been in the shop many times on a Friday and Saturday and listened to orders being taken, they always tell customers it could be up to a certain time but maybe longer if it gets busy, people need to chill out as they have been told at the outset what the wait is, if they want it sooner they could always come and collect like I do on occasion if they want it sooner, word is get off your lazy arse and stop the blame game and expecting something for nothing!

Pedí mi comida a las 6. 50 pm y dijeron que tomaría 40 minutos. Llamé de nuevo a las 8 pm para preguntar dónde estaba mi comida para decirme que ya deberían estar aquí. Not even worth a star. Worst take away ever. Ordered food. Live in whipton. They took our food out to poltimore ( going past our house). Was told when I called to see where our food was that it had been out for delivery for an hour. I explained that it would be cold by the time we got it and said I wouldn't pay for it. With this I was told I could have a little discount. What a joke of a place. Yummy house so much better. Will NEVER use this useless place again.

Absolutely shocking, chips so dry I couldn’t swollow them , beef chow main was dry and no sauce in it , asked for prawn crackers and they didn’t bring them , when I rang they said they would send some out but after eating our meals they still didn’t arrive , when I rang them again I asked to swap them for two drinks instead as there was no point in having them anymore they basically said that the prawn crackers was on there way so no they wouldn’t swap and even in the end the prawn crackers never arrived so now I’m out of pocket. Shocking, disgusting and never will I be giving them my money or eating their food ever again !!!

After using this Chinese for a number of years last night I received food that was not up to the usual standard I phoned them up the next day to give them some friendly advice but was told they weren't interested in my advice didn't even want to hear what the problem was food was absolutely revolting chicken was undercooked in the sweet and sour chicken balls and the rest tasted like it'd been microwaved funny how they can get to your door in 10 minutes from when you're older and cook it fresh this is gotta be the worst Chinese in Exeter avoid like the plague

The items ordered were incorrect. Waited an hour after ringing for missing item. Items didn’t arrive. Cold curry - not good

Got the name right ming, ordered meals the meat on each meal was horilble really hard and stale didnt look or taste fresh really poor quality chicken was al black and old looking poor choice would NOT go again !!!

fast service. I dropped one star as I feel the prices are a little high - although in fairness it really is great food. If you havnt tried this place yet I would suggest you try it.
