Kitchen & Bar at Courtyard in Exeter

Pricey... If you're not up for that the Toby carvery nearby is the excellent alternative. But GOOD. Imaginative, well prepared menu and staff coped well with a sudden impromptu gathering of old friends.

Great breakfast with a cracking 8th floor view!

The food was OK. Not great. The view from the restaurant is worth coming. Order at the bar and they'll bring you your food.

Love this hotel. Food is delicious and staff friendly. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is they now alternate when the downstairs bar and restaurant and upstairs bar and restaurant are open. This is a shame as.the upstairs food menu is a bit limited. Plus, service can be a bit slow. But then, more than makes up for it as it is fantastic place.

The food was decent enough. The beer is expensive. As they have shut the main resturant everone eats in the bar. The bar is nowhere near big enough to accommodate all guests. A burger taking over 2 hours to arrive is unacceptable. But as the hotel is not within walking distance of any restaurants, they have a captive audience. The staff try their beat but are badly let down by their senior management.

Busy night at the restaurant, so you'd think plenty of staff? No, instead you get lower quality food and no cutlery, napkin or condiments but pay the same price.

Terrible service and low quality food.

The person responsible for food in the bar should be fired immediately. Chicken "curry" consisted of a bowl of hard, dry rice, and a whole chicken breast covered in some curry sauce. The food tasted like it was 3 days old and heated in a microwave. Disgusting.

How can you get something as basic as Ham, egg and chips so wrong? Chips cold, ham sweaty and dried out after being under a heat lamp. Total waste of money and time. Hotel good, but food awful. Put us off paying for breakfast the next day.
