The best restaurants in Exeter South West

Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Traditional pub layout. We bought two pints and they gave us a token for a free one. Didn't expect it but it was greatly appreciated. Worth your visit

Ever changing and constantly awesome proper craft/indie beer selection and staff and punters are all great. If you like good, interesting beer then make sure you drop by. Multiple keg and a couple of cask lines and multiple fridges of cans and bottles to drink in or take away.

08/04/2025 Update to my previous review. It has since transpired that the Rainbow is under new ownership, but they have taken considerable time to learn the previous recipes to great success. I'm delighted that the former deliciousness has returned and that the new owners have worked incredibly hard to uphold the standards. Thank you 😊 It is such a shame to find that after many years coming here, things have changed beyond recognition. Their delicous curry has always been a thing of great delight, sumptuous, unique and rich in flavour. Last night was so revolting we had to throw half our meals in the bin. When I phoned and implored to bring back the original family recipe, I was told it was the same, just a different colour, which incensed me even more that they tried to put it even in the same class as before. The attempt, since losing a much valued member of staff, has left them churning out slop, green in colour, watery, peppery and something akin to the contents of a baby's nappy. Such a shame. We will be looking for a new Chinese. Oh and you pay more for the displeasure!

Lovely cafe on the water edge. Delicious coffee served hot! Delicious piece of yogurt blackcurrant apple slice! Highly recommend. Dog friendly

Good visit yesterday for lunch. Friendly local eating place., obviously lots of regular customers. Great scones! Spare extra seating outside for the summer!

Lovely spot on the quay. Service and food excellent value and lovely and fresh. Highly recommend, coffee and cakes are also lush!

Just had our first Everest takeaway and it was brilliant. One of the best takeaway curries we have had in a long time. Looking forward to going to the restaurant to have a sit down meal. Would highly recommend Everest to anyone. Thank you!

Always friendly and welcoming, especially to the dog who gets treated as royalty. Shaz was helpful and knowledgeable about our order and very accommodating Fantastic menu with amazing choices and always willing to swap items over.

Lovely staff, perfect service and tasty food of generous portion size. Particularly happy with the potato bread and hogs pudding. Ideal for a mid-morning breakfast as the green is quieter and the ambience enjoyable.

Lovely clean and tidy room. Food wasn't too bad. However the service was slow and it wasn't really busy.

Possibly 30 years since I was last here. Not sure why, it's a great pub. Fantastic service from Will, and great food too. Definitely won't be leaving it another 30 years!

Best Indian around by miles. Food is so well cooked and tasty and not at all greasy. Book early to make sure you get in. They also do takeaway if you prefer. Staff are excellent
