Great place to eat, staff were friendly and very welcoming. Food was great and well priced. Would definitely recommend it.

Amazing as always. We took the grandkids in as it was "kids eat for free" over the summer holidays, and they loved it. The staff couldn't do enough for the kids. Thank you.

Food arrived quickly and was really good. The eggs royale were very filling, my partner had avocado toast which has a small kick to it, it’s added so subtly you don’t realise. I normally do not like avocado toast but I’d order this one. Service was friendly and quick. Our kids enjoyed the kids menu pancakes and scrambled egg on toast. Atmosphere is relaxed and love the seating. Wondering why we’ve not been to Bills before!

Service from Ruby was perfect. Couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful. Food was great and service was quick and seamless. Thankyou so much :)

Great place to go to eat,they have a gluten free menu. Best to book before you go as always busy. The gluten free burger is the best I've had in a long time staff great and friendly. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Well worthwhile going to give it a try.

Super fun place to take your children for pancakes. They’ve also got a fantastic range of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks to reward yourself. Shaz and the team were so helpful and kind in Making sure the pancakes came deconstructed so that that strawberry didn’t dare touch the pancake.

Both gluten free products we ordered resembled cardboard - a burger bun and pancakes. It’s not easy to make nice GF products but the pancakes were inedible. Also had cooked breakfast which was poor - mushrooms inedible. Not a great experience for the money.

Food was good what you expect these days. My issue was with the service charge where you are told card tips go to the restaurant and not the staff but cash tips do go to the staff. What is going on with the world Bills do you really have a policy not to pass on tips meant for the staff !!

Food was great. Really enjoyed the calamari and Sharwama. Service excellent. Nik was fab with her attention to detail.

Nik was really welcoming. She was polite, smiley and had a lovely manor about her.. The atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious.

Fantastic first time in the establishment even tho I've lived in Exeter for 4 years. Me and the hubby decided to stop and look at the menu properly and decided on popping in for brunch on our way to our actual destination for brunch. And we weren't disappointed. Fast service, we were both seen to a table very quick even without a table booking, we were shown the menu, told about the QR code for allergies or concerns regarding the menu. We were then greeted for drinks by a very polite young lady. After our drinks arrived we were asked about food to which I ordered the halloumi breakfast and then the breakfast burger. Both came out quite fast and very warm, stayed warm throughout eating the meal too so not a cold item on the plate which was thoroughly enjoyable. Fantastic service all round and great value for money! Definitely wish we'd tried this place before Saturday, and we will most definitely be back.

First time going to a Bill's, not sure i would return. The restaurant was very busy and they pack you in so that you are sat very close to other tables. Food was average to poor and very overpriced for what they were offering. Had the bbq platter. Not much meat on it. 4 dried chicken nuggets and a very small pot of shredded beef. I am suprised that this rates so highly as there are far better restaurants in exeter for the price.

A lovely place to eat with a lovely atmosphere with some lovely cocktails..... Unfortunately the chef smothered everything in chives including our 4 year olds mash which he didn't eat so recommend maybe checking kids meals before ordering....

It’s a beautifully decorated place, delicious food, and really really good service. We brought in our own birthday cake and they discretely arranged the candles and sung happy birthday when they brought it out. Best dinner experience in a long while.

Would be a great place, but the rest of the staff are let down by those taking orders- long waits for orders to be taken, wrong orders written down. This has happened on 4 occasions- once/twice tou can kind of accept, but after that...

Lovely food,I had the sea bream and my son had the vegan burger ,only problems were,the staff need to know when to remove your plate,I had finished ,the plates were removed while my son was still eating his fries from the separate bucket and asked us if we wanted a dessert,before he'd finished,as it's card only ,it's a fixed tip of 12.5 pc,what if the owner gets that and not the staff? Otherwise we would go back as the food was lovely,the staff were nice,just overly keen !

The pancaked loooked lovely however i was not allowed to try i will never know because my friend next to me took a bite and the grey curley haired waiter stared her down and then accused us of “sharing” which for some reason we weren’t allowed to share as 3 teenage girls who just wanted some pancakes. Fuming with our shocking and appalling service, he charged us for 1 pancake and would not let us have any more even though we paid for bottomless. We stood up our tummies still rumbling with hunger because i wasnt allowed to eat (sorry my bad it is a restaurant i was crazy to think i could eat there) we left very mad.

I ordered the bottomless pancakes for myself and when it came my friend tried tried a bite while being watched by our server from the host stand the whole time he then came over when we had finished and scolded us saying we were not allowed to share and told us we had to pay for this one and leave or buy the next round?!! There being an obvious power dynamic between 14 year old girls and an aging man we felt unwelcome and coerced to leave. Would not return.

Me and my 2 friends decided we needed a refreshing break from the tiring reality’s of school and went out into Exeter for a day out to help escape our brutal home and school lives. One of my friends was hungry and enthusiastically requested us going to Bills, we agreed and she ordered the bottomless pancakes, it looked very appealing so I asked for a forkful, when asking for a second round we were told that we couldn’t have anymore and we’re forced to pay for the bottomless pankakes when she only ate one round. While eating me and my friends were being stared down by the graying waiter which made us all feel very uncomfortable we even contemplated leaving. He shouted at us leaving us greatly disturbed.

Went for supper, I have dietary requirements that aren't flagged on the usual allergen sheets. The staff were amazing, so kind and friendly and really went the extra mile to make sure my food was perfect. Everything was delicious, the service was attentive without being intrusive. The menu had a lovely range of dishes. My daughter and I are already planning our next visit!

Really enjoyed the service and food. Aubergine Parmigiana was delicious. Solo visitor and was made to feel comfortable. Agree with others about the service charge, if it goes to staff, fair enough but if not, then it's not good. Stops people tipping the staff! That's why only 4 stars.

First appearances I was a bit worried as the outside looks so shabby! However inside is beautiful. We were served by Niko and he was honestly one of the nicest waiters we’ve ever had!! The food was incredible and the overall cost was less than expected! I would definitely come back again. Even our noise sensitive, fussy food eating 10 year old was impressed! The kids portions are not too small and well worth it. (We were sat upstairs!)

Came as a walk in of 6 this afternoon, had a lovely lunch with fast and great service from Ruby! The pancakes are delicious!

Todays adventure taken us to bills restaurant for “brunch” and I had high expectations, my last bills visit was a fair few years ago now. But fair to say it wasn’t anything like I remembered. I ordered a “bills big brunch” so let’s talk about the food. Firstly it came on a large serving bowl type dish! What’s happened to a decent plate these days? The plate was so busy personally dint look stylish as a plate of food goes. I’m not going to just slate everything because there was some good bits to this dish, but starting with the sausage yes just 1 undersized Lancashire sausage, small pot of beans, 3 rashers of streaky bacon, some grilled mushrooms, plenty of fried potatoes, a nice slide of black pudding and a raw Cricket ball sized tomato?, certainly not grilled vine tomatoes as stated, not to miss 3 slices of toast and 2 fried eggs! Flavours overall lacked any real seasoning, some individual elements stood out, black pudding was sweet yet smokey and cooked perfectly, mushrooms were sautéed shining with butter, yet the small size the sausage surprisingly had a nice flavour with hints of herbs running through it. There was plenty of fried cube potatoes but absolutely no seasoning other than a pinch of pickled red onions on-top weird edition but I did like it! Bacon was standard bacon cooked well but nothing to shout about. And 3 slices of toast was a bit much but luckily I like toast with butter! This dish really could have upped the levels with some simple processes of flavours imo! All that great produce and no seasoning just makes me sad, those potatoes could of been toasted in some smoke paprika and garlic with salt bring them to life add some flavour depth other wise it’s just a fried potato. They sprinkle some chives over 2 fried eggs but a crack of black pepper would help that creamy yolk hit even better. Also a garnish of a whole tomato sliced in half and not even grilled, pretty raw just dint help the dish at all. Certainly wasn’t the worst breakfast but £13.50 ain’t cheap and it just lacked that touch of class imo, just serve it on a bigger plate. Don’t pile the items on-top of each other and make it more appealing to the eye. The service was meh, waiter was ok no body was rude at all but it felt very corporate and not very individual, feels like it’s all about trade and not about the customer. The place was nice tho, menu is very big and caters for most people, maybe too big? Scale it back and bring that food to life!!! Yet again it is a chain and it shows - £35 for two of us to eat with one soft drink each! Won’t be returning in a hurry, would get a lot more for your money with an independent. Today’s overall rating - 6/10.

Wanted to try something other than out usual brunch spot. Had the vegan breakfast as the only available vg brunch option. Everything was ok but very bland. Friends ordered non vegan food and had the same thoughts. While the overall experience wasn't unpleasant, the food was rather disappointing. Nothing wrong with it necessarily, just average. Wouldn't rush back any time soon.

Had lunch here with my family and had one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. The fries were a bit cold, but other than that great lunch. The cinnamon donuts are amazing.

Appalling. What happened to Bills, Exeter? My fish pie was tiny, had obviously been cooked in the microwave and the edges were carbonised to the sides of the dish. It contained three prawns, a couple of lumps of fish, a thin layer of overcooked mashed potato and nothing else. The waitress, programmed to ask if everything was alright but not trained to deal with any actual problems, grinned through my complaint like I was some boring relative moaning about the weather. Her only response was to ask if I wanted anything else. It was a very quiet night: they were not overwhelmed, the staff weren't busy. This restaurant treats its customers with contempt. The Exeter branch used to be excellent.

Had a fried breakfast, i asked for no black pudding but it came with it anyway. Food was okay but overall a bit bland and lukewarm. I think for the price i expected more, also ordered a mocktail for £8.50 which was about 100ml of lemonade and raspberry juice and 10 ice cubes. Expected better considering the reviews and how popular it was

Disappointed on this latest visit that a 10% 'Service Charge' was automatically added to the bill, and although marked as 'optional' there didn't appear to be any means of removing what is just a further tax from the bill. The service was fine, but I really object to having extra monies added without consent.

The food was disappointing, my burger wasn't cheap , the burger was so small for the price . Over priced , not alot on the plate. I won't be going back . The atmosphere was great I had my girlfriend with me but that was all was good about it

I went to Bills in Exeter last evening and could not believe how awful the menu was! They used to have such great food but now it’s dreadful! Won’t be going again sadly

Amazing Food, but second to the service! Our waitress Ruby was brilliant, attentive, cheerful and bubbly and a great sense of humour, really was the star of our evening! Thank you Ruby, a real asset to your workplace and ray of sunshine for the customers, we hope to see you again!

Had a great Breakfast today the Garden Plate was awesome and huge! Tried the Golden Latte which was a little different for me but really like it. Our server Nik was really friendly and attentive, will definitely return!

I have never had a more tasteless burger that cost more than 10£. My friend had to add heaps of salt to the completely flavorless seafood linguini. Overpriced and way overrated. Decent setting tho.

I am a big fan of 'Bills', as we will visit our local restaurant at Gloucester Quays fairly regularly. The quality of dishes are consistently good, with very good staff. So I was surprised at my first visit to Bills Exeter where we recently visited...

This visit was a happy accident really, when, returning to Exeter after some time away we found most of the places we used to like had closed down, and some new entrants - like The Ivy, just a little too costly for a family casual...

Avoid bottomless pancakes at all costs. Worst tasting pancakes. Arrived cold and smelling slightly eggy. Pancakes made far too thick with little sauce. Yuk!

Excellent for younger people, probably... the food is simplistic, sweet and more style than substance in my opinion.

Lovely place, relaxed and convivial, great decor. The staff are kind and attentive. But the food is awful. I ordered a salad. The roasted butternut squash is chunks of boiled squash, bad dressing, all completely tasteless. The espresso martini was all wrong - far too bitter. So disappointing to spend a hefty amount on food that is at best average.
