Bill's Restaurant in Exeter

Food sadly not great and took a long time to arrive but staff had advised us in advance. Staff were very good.

Had a wonderfull meal there last week. It was a bit crammed - very popular and busy but the staff seemed to cope admirably. We arrived a bit early but they didn't seem to mind. Very Chrismassy.

The staff were excellent especially the Indian fellow (sorry I can't remember his name). Thank you for the experience.

This place was exceptionally good.

Excellent festive burger! Me and my family visited on Christmas Eve and enjoyed a lovely meal. The 'Christmas Cracker Burger' was delicious. Incredible mix of flavours from the meats and the fruity chutney. The pigs in blanket extra was fantastic too. High quality sausages used but could've done with a bigger blanket perhaps. It was pretty busy so the service was quite slow and food took a while to arrive. The staff were very pleasant though!

CC was our server and she was absolutely amazing, couldn’t have asked for a more friendly person. Amazing food and amazing service

Had a nice Christmas dinner with my colleagues in the university of Exeter. Welcome drinks were nice and the sea bass was well cooked. The desert icecream was too sweet though

I would give 5 stars for the refreshing and botanical atmosphere which I found diffeent. We tried their food a few times now. No complains. Good variety of British, European and global inspired options. Good food and service. If you want to check out Gandy street Bill's may be your stop for lunch or dinner. I would recommend.

When I was asked if I wanted cheese and bacon in my burger, I was not told there would be an extra charge. I didn't eat the bacon as it wasn't nice, so I was disappointed by this. Also I don't agree with being cashless. However the service and decor were both great.

This was absolutely my favorite place to eat in Exeter. The food is just incredible. The service is wonderful and the decor was just brilliant. I loved it and ate there multiple times because it was just so good. When I come back I will be eating at Bill’s again it is truly a lovely place and the staff were all very nice and so helpful. Thank you so much.

We had a lovely meal at Bill's made very enjoyable because we had a fantastic waitress called Maya who could not have been nicer and more helpful. We look forward to returning and hopefully seeing Maya again. Thank you. We also had a curry and pancakes and sticky toffee pudding which were delicious.

Absolutely lovely place and the staff are great nothing is too much trouble for them would recommend this place to any of my friends coming to Exeter in a heartbeat. We had the buttermilk chicken and the classic burger and both were delicious.And our server (Nik) was lovely so helpful

Went for breakfast recently and food was cold. Love Bills and have been lots of times before but was a shame about food being cold. To be fair, staff were brilliant and got fresh hot food out and apologised.

A quick skim through other reviews shows we are not the only people who have found the staff at Bill's in Exeter to be exceptional. Kledina who was our 'main' waitress was friendly, attentive and even anticipatory of our needs! But the rest of the staff, the young man who welcomed us and showed us to our table, and other staff who served or visited the table, we equally pleasant. And they seemed to work very well as a team. Oh, and excellent food too, as we've come to expect from visiting other Bill's outlets. Thank you!

Totally brilliant birthday meal with the family. Totally brilliant atmosphere with some great food, superb service, friendly staff and they made our birthday meal very special. Burgers are superb, chicken salad was very nice with tasty flatbread. Duck salad was very nice as well with lovely cooked duck, fragrant rice and salad. Would recommend booking in advance as very busy restaurant and that's for a reason, it has to be one of the best restaurants in Exeter high street Thanks guys for a great evening.

Kladina was a delight. Perfect service all night. Knew exactly when to approach and when to give some space. Food was amazing.

the food was 10/10, we had the cheesey mushrooms and the traditional breakfast and it was incredible. the service was great and so accommodating. we loved nik she was so so great and attentive. highly recommend the matcha coconut latte too!!

Very relaxing and welcoming vibe. Cocktails were well prepared, and the hummus and halloumi we were ordered were beautifully presented. Monika was so kind and attentive in looking after us! Can’t wait to come back again!

First visit a week ago, the food was lovely, the service from our waitress was excellent, however, I did not appreciate the constant upsell for drinks - not helped by the noticeable delay of the first course (45 mins) - and off duty staff visibly sat idle upstairs made me feel a bit uncomfortable... so, no, on this basis you will lose points. BTW, £23 for an 8oz rump steak is quite the stretch!

Food was very good, and girl serving us was very good, but there were quite long delays in food coming out.

We were a group of 12 ranging between 8 and 80 and had lunch here. Our reserved table was ready right on time and we were welcomed by the friendly staff. The waitresses who looked after us were great; they were attentive without being overbearing and were fantastic at dealing with our various requests. The food was served in a timely manner and was delicious. I can definitely recommend the Hippy Bowl and the brownie. Bill's is clearly a popular place and this helps create a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely return if I am back in Exeter.

Ideal for dog owners. Staff are friendly, attentive to allergies, considerate to canines, and the food is superb.

Delicious food and very friendly staff throughout our lunch at this fab restaurant in central Exeter. We enjoyed delicious cocktails, starter, sharing plate, and mains for all 5 of us. Creative menu specials, like the charcoal bun for shredded ducks, make the lunch very memorable indeed! We were happy to pay the optional 12.5% service on the bill, especially as the new UK law means it goes to the staff who treated us so well. Recommended.

I went there for my birthday meal with my friend. She told me about this place, as she went there before in London. She explained that it's a chain restaurant. We had really amazing food. The waitress who was serving us was really nice. We also made the most of the drinks on offer. Place had a great decor and atmosphere. We didn't have a chance to try the desserts. I definitely want to go there again and this time I will make sure to include the dessert 😊

We were taken to Bills for a works lunch! Starter Salmon pate with flatbread was very tasty 😋 absolutely amazing 👏 Main Spicey Duck Salad 🥗 it was new on the menu 😋 This is a must try! The flavours in it was so yummy and not overly spicy, but enough, I can't recommend it enough! Our waiter was on the ball, too. He didn't leave us thirsty or hungry for long! And checking on us regularly if everything was OK 👍 If I lived in Exeter, I would be a regular 😋

Food arrived quickly and was really good. The eggs royale were very filling, my partner had avocado toast which has a small kick to it, it’s added so subtly you don’t realise. I normally do not like avocado toast but I’d order this one. Service was friendly and quick. Our kids enjoyed the kids menu pancakes and scrambled egg on toast. Atmosphere is relaxed and love the seating. Wondering why we’ve not been to Bills before!

Amazing as always. We took the grandkids in as it was "kids eat for free" over the summer holidays, and they loved it. The staff couldn't do enough for the kids. Thank you.

Great place to go to eat,they have a gluten free menu. Best to book before you go as always busy. The gluten free burger is the best I've had in a long time staff great and friendly. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Well worthwhile going to give it a try.

Super fun place to take your children for pancakes. They’ve also got a fantastic range of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks to reward yourself. Shaz and the team were so helpful and kind in Making sure the pancakes came deconstructed so that that strawberry didn’t dare touch the pancake.

Both gluten free products we ordered resembled cardboard - a burger bun and pancakes. It’s not easy to make nice GF products but the pancakes were inedible. Also had cooked breakfast which was poor - mushrooms inedible. Not a great experience for the money.

Food was good what you expect these days. My issue was with the service charge where you are told card tips go to the restaurant and not the staff but cash tips do go to the staff. What is going on with the world Bills do you really have a policy not to pass on tips meant for the staff !!

Food was great. Really enjoyed the calamari and Sharwama. Service excellent. Nik was fab with her attention to detail.

Fantastic first time in the establishment even tho I've lived in Exeter for 4 years. Me and the hubby decided to stop and look at the menu properly and decided on popping in for brunch on our way to our actual destination for brunch. And we weren't disappointed. Fast service, we were both seen to a table very quick even without a table booking, we were shown the menu, told about the QR code for allergies or concerns regarding the menu. We were then greeted for drinks by a very polite young lady. After our drinks arrived we were asked about food to which I ordered the halloumi breakfast and then the breakfast burger. Both came out quite fast and very warm, stayed warm throughout eating the meal too so not a cold item on the plate which was thoroughly enjoyable. Fantastic service all round and great value for money! Definitely wish we'd tried this place before Saturday, and we will most definitely be back.

First time going to a Bill's, not sure i would return. The restaurant was very busy and they pack you in so that you are sat very close to other tables. Food was average to poor and very overpriced for what they were offering. Had the bbq platter. Not much meat on it. 4 dried chicken nuggets and a very small pot of shredded beef. I am suprised that this rates so highly as there are far better restaurants in exeter for the price.

A lovely place to eat with a lovely atmosphere with some lovely cocktails..... Unfortunately the chef smothered everything in chives including our 4 year olds mash which he didn't eat so recommend maybe checking kids meals before ordering....

It’s a beautifully decorated place, delicious food, and really really good service. We brought in our own birthday cake and they discretely arranged the candles and sung happy birthday when they brought it out. Best dinner experience in a long while.

Would be a great place, but the rest of the staff are let down by those taking orders- long waits for orders to be taken, wrong orders written down. This has happened on 4 occasions- once/twice tou can kind of accept, but after that...

Lovely food,I had the sea bream and my son had the vegan burger ,only problems were,the staff need to know when to remove your plate,I had finished ,the plates were removed while my son was still eating his fries from the separate bucket and asked us if we wanted a dessert,before he'd finished,as it's card only ,it's a fixed tip of 12.5 pc,what if the owner gets that and not the staff? Otherwise we would go back as the food was lovely,the staff were nice,just overly keen !

I ordered the bottomless pancakes for myself and when it came my friend tried tried a bite while being watched by our server from the host stand the whole time he then came over when we had finished and scolded us saying we were not allowed to share and told us we had to pay for this one and leave or buy the next round?!! There being an obvious power dynamic between 14 year old girls and an aging man we felt unwelcome and coerced to leave. Would not return.

Me and my 2 friends decided we needed a refreshing break from the tiring reality’s of school and went out into Exeter for a day out to help escape our brutal home and school lives. One of my friends was hungry and enthusiastically requested us going to Bills, we agreed and she ordered the bottomless pancakes, it looked very appealing so I asked for a forkful, when asking for a second round we were told that we couldn’t have anymore and we’re forced to pay for the bottomless pankakes when she only ate one round. While eating me and my friends were being stared down by the graying waiter which made us all feel very uncomfortable we even contemplated leaving. He shouted at us leaving us greatly disturbed.

The pancaked loooked lovely however i was not allowed to try i will never know because my friend next to me took a bite and the grey curley haired waiter stared her down and then accused us of “sharing” which for some reason we weren’t allowed to share as 3 teenage girls who just wanted some pancakes. Fuming with our shocking and appalling service, he charged us for 1 pancake and would not let us have any more even though we paid for bottomless. We stood up our tummies still rumbling with hunger because i wasnt allowed to eat (sorry my bad it is a restaurant i was crazy to think i could eat there) we left very mad.

Went for supper, I have dietary requirements that aren't flagged on the usual allergen sheets. The staff were amazing, so kind and friendly and really went the extra mile to make sure my food was perfect. Everything was delicious, the service was attentive without being intrusive. The menu had a lovely range of dishes. My daughter and I are already planning our next visit!
