Great pub for travelling away fans going to Exeter City games

Was there recently and although there was a good band on, the crowd were really boring. All very drunk, and the setup was all wrong. The band were playing to the bar basically. They need to move the pool table out the way and get the band in the other room. Landlady buggered off for most of the night instead of supporting the band and encouraging the punters. Not going back there.

Great little hidden pub tucked away near the high street. We popped in for a pint and watched the football. Plenty of TVs around the pub so it’s a great place to watch a game. Can get quite busy in the evenings. Staff are friendly and the people in the pub were a mix of locals and students. Dogs welcome. Awesome place for chilling out and chatting. Very social vibe. Manager was also awesome, super friendly funny and helpful.

Very nice clean pub for a drink unfortunately there is no kitchen.

The pub was a bit quiet. Good place to watch cricket or other sports. No food was served.

This place has just been reopened about 6 weeks ago now and it's a family run pub dog friend and the kitchen will be reopen very soon 😀

Unter neuer Leitung hat das eher kleine, aber essentielle Pub wieder geöffnet. Kein überflüssiger Schnick-Schnack, sondern wie es sich früher gehörte eine Bar mit freundlichen Service, ein paar Biere und Schnäpse, einige bequeme Sessel und sehr viel Atmosphäre. Es freut mich als Alumni der Universität sehr, dass es meine Wells Tavern immer noch oder zumindest wieder gibt. Wer dies liest, der kehre dort ein, trinke recht viel Bier und erfreue sich des Lebens!

Great to see the pub reopen as of today, I live next door so nice to see it back in business. A friendly local pub with a mixture of locals and students so always a relaxed atmosphere. Normally a couple of the usual lagers and ciders on, plus Neckoil and a line or two of changing cask ales. Prices are pretty good compared to in town so a quick pint after work doesn't break the bank!

Top establishment, enjoyed many a cool doom bar in these premises and never had a bad experience. Shannon the landlady is different gravy and the staff slap aswell. Would give 6 stars if I could. Proper institution 🥰🥰

Good staff and good place to have a drink

Visited as an away football supporter with Newport County & can't praise the hardworking staff enough. They worked tirelessly and made sure nobody waited too long for service. Will definitely return. Thank You.

As an extremely good vocalist from Cardiff, I have been all round the towns and everything. I fink St Annes Well was one of the best pubs I’ve ever been to, would definitely rate it a 10. I know my friends Gwen, Sheila E and even Dani as well really enjoyed it. It was really good wasnt it let’s face it.

The young man at the bar was amazing so kind, think his name was Pedro, social distancing and restriction were top quality, and the young lady behind the bar was always chatting away, can’t wait to come back

I visited here with some friends on a tour of pubs in our home town that we’d never been to. Under its previous guise, this wasn’t a very attractive pub, but it’s under new ownership and had a renovation and it’s a revelation. Lovely atmosphere, great landlord, good selection of drinks and a good looking if slightly limited menu. I’ll be back to both drink and eat there. Currently it’s a little hidden gem.

Visited before but it has now reopened under new management Sharon and Matt.... Lovely people that make you feel welcome. They have said did is coming soon as they have only been there 2 days. I Highly recommend!

Lovely looking pub within a short walk of Exeter City. Staff were very friendly but something unusual had clearly happened as when we walked in we were informed that the only lager they had was San Miguel as the others had run out and that there wasn't a lot of that left either. Prices were on the higher side of average but due to the beer shortage we didn't stay long enough to really enjoy the pub properly.

Comfortable, friendly pub. Good beer. Unfortunately, last orders was called at 9.45 on Wednesday this week, despite the place being very busy for a week night (30+ punters). Won't be going back soon, even though we live very locally.

We've been here a few times and are always impressed with the welcoming and friendly service but the other night I felt the staff went above and beyond so deserved a raving review! My boyfriend and I came here after work for some food and drinks before seeing a film. Firstly.. 2 selected drinks for a fiver. Yes!! Then pizza deals and cheap pool on a Thursday.. awesome. We asked if we could order food and were advised food started at 6, the film was at 7 so we explained our predicament and the bar girl kindly offered to take a pre order so she could start our order as soon as the kitchen opened. How nice is that? We thanked her and sat down after ordering. A short while later she came over and told us as it wasn't busy she'd do it now so we could eat without rushing and could just chill out. It was so thoughtful of her and really made for a lovely evening. We made sure to buy her a drink! :) This pub has recently been refurbished and has a lovely homely vibe- the prices are very good and the food is very good value for money. We'll be coming back here again!

Been to this lovely pub a few times now and love it! Really friendly, clean, great bar staff and very reasonably priced food. The chilli is awesome! Great juke box pool and dart board- perfect night out!

Good pub Good selection of ales and ciders. Bleddy cold on a December afternoon though. Overall a very good effort at updating a solid local without destroying years of tradition.

Been here a few times since re-opening with new management. There is home cooked food on the menu inc home made pizza. The staff are really chatty and happy and the whole place is really clean, might be my new local!
