We didn't realise that the River Cottage Cafe had relocated from Axminster town centre to a lovely location with beautiful views nearby. The experience was very positive with excellent service and delicious food. We both had a pork and sage sausage roll with beautiful lettuce greens grown in the garden (and accompanied with a lovely vinaigrette). The sausage roll also came with a side of kimchi which was tangy and refreshing (and included equal parts carrot and cabbage). The staff who were looking after the cafe were kind, welcoming, and efficient. An added bonus was the car park with plenty of spaces during a Friday lunch time. The views were lovely too!

Must be something about Costa, why are all the staff grumpy. Waited ages, two male members of staff by till neither acknowledged us! Freezing cold in there, haven’t they noticed that everyone has their coats on! Air conditioning was on! It’s winter.

We were going to have a takeaway yesterday, but our first choice was closed, so we asked for recommendations for an alternative - so pleased we chose Safar! Excellent food, so many choices and all tasted very fresh, amazing after the long bank holiday weekend. Excellent service from attentive, but not overly so, staff - family-run businesses are usually the best. Next time we'll take their advice and order a little less - we were stuffed (although we could have had a bag to take some home). We don't eat out very often, but we'll definitely be back.

Car broke down on the Axminster bypass: when fixed I had lost the will to drive another 4 hours so checked into the George Inn. In the middle of an outrageously good Halloween party, the staff were never the less attentive, sympathetic and checked me in quickly. Recently refurbished, the hotel is really and very well furnished and decorated - super comfortable, super clean, super cozy. It’s a little gem, with parking - great value too!

Well! What a wonderful jewel in Axminster’s Crown. I came to visit following previous tripadvisor comments. I was not let down. A wonderful two egg bacon buttie in freshly warm bread. A sheer delight. My host was equally warming and proud of his town and heritage. I am sure those craftsmen working their looms in the mills creating carpet master pieces would succumb to this delight. Thank you most sincerely.

We stayed in Rustic 1, to be honest it was perfect no frills stay in the room. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, small kitchen area with fridge, kettle, microwave, toaster. The only thing I would add is milk was needed and some kind of shower gel toiletries would have been nice touch, Food in the Restaurant was nice, quickly served even with a large party in. Host were great, very friendly and offered their local knowledge. Nice stay Thankyou

Bar lady was nice enough, just a a bit loud. No heating in the bar area, had to sit in our coats. Worst Sunday dinner we’ve had! Roast potatoes from the freezer section, beef so tough, hard to cut, let alone chew, burnt Yorkshire puds, everything coated in instant gravy & luke warm. ☹️

Decided to try this Chinese during our holiday to Devon last week as we were only staying 10 minutes down the road and this was the closest. I must admit as quick as the service was and as friendly as the staff were - the same can't be said for the food! It was probably the worst Chinese I've ever had unfortunately! I don't know if they were having an off day! The curries were too salty, lacking in flavour and not spicy enough, the chow mains were too greasy and under seasoned, the chicken balls with sweet & sour sauce were disappointing (the sauce was too sour and the chicken was lacking), the prawn crackers were soggy and even the fortune cookies were soggy! The only thing that was half decent was the chips! I know the total cost was cheap only £54 for five people but this was definitely reflected in the quality of the food! The only plus was that they only accepted cash not card which in a very cashless society is good to see!

Haven’t been into this fish and chip shop for a long time but was always good in the past so thought I’d stop by to pick up fish and chips for myself and my partner to share .Having ordered I was very taken aback at the price of £20.40 for a large cod and chips and a curry sauce and even more shocked when I opened the wrappings to find a piece of cod that would barely pass for a medium let alone a large,it was so greasy and the batter over cooked I felt really ripped off and definitely won’t be going back !!! EVER!!
