Ordered via the food van takeaway at local campsite. Appalling service was told 10 mins but took 45 mins+ food was OK but overpriced & they did not have a system in place to cope with orders.

Just had a meal from their van at Monkton Wyld caravan site. Worst Indian I've ever had. Looked more like soup than curry. Chicken was boiled and honestly tasted like it's been washed. Chips and rice weren't cooked as well, definitely. Best thing to come out of it was 4 tupawares for the caravan, not bad for 36 quid. Will update if I have the runs tomorrow.

Food was great, always is. We always order on the app and the delivery is so, so slow. We’ve just waited 2 hours for delivery (from 6:40 to 8:40 on a Sunday night). Whenever we order it’s always taken at least 90 minutes.

Ordered for takeaway/delivery. Ordered at 8:30, finally received it at 22:45...chips were cold, stater was missing, and the driver couldn't find our house.

This place is terrible, I ordered my food and it came 2 and a half hours later. The chips were stale and it looked like my popadom was half eaten. The order was messed up in multiple ways such as the wrong things in the burger and being given the wrong sorbet. Never ordering from here again. Absolutely atrocious.

Having enjoyed delicious hot food promptly delivered this time, last night, we were very disappointed. Our order took 2 hours to be delivered, 40 minutes past the most recent promised delivery update. Food was missing from our order yet we were not refunded for this, although the receipt was amended so where is our money?

Food order got accepted at 5.41pm arrived at 7.36pm nearly two hours. Then it arrived looked in the bag and was missing the chicken korma. Yes they did go and get one and bring it back however it doesn’t taste right. It’s a bit sour. The butter chicken dish was lovely. But just a waste of money when it’s not been eaten.

wrong items received. We paid for a sizzler and received 6 small pieces which resembled a starter. The sizzler was a whopping £11!

A most enjoyable meal. A great menu to choose from, all served by friendly attentive staff. We would definitely call again if we’re in the area.

Enjoyed a delicious meal at Safar this evening. Great menu with super variety of dishes to choose from. Excellent food, lovely warm friendly staff, great atmosphere which all contributed to a very enjoyable, relaxed dining experience. Thankyou Team Safar we will be back!

never had a better naan bread ANYWHERE! Thick, doughy and full of cheese. Tikka exceptional, sauce right consistency, rice perfectly seasoned and flavoured

Had the opportunity (read only option) to visit suffer. The place is nestled close to the train station. Went there with a group of kids and family. Be prepared for long wait times to get your food when the food arrived, kids were absolutely taken back with the taste and the spices. The only item they loved on the menu was their yoghurt. The food and service needs improvements beyond leaps and bounds. Ambience was the only saving grace but we go to places for the food primary which is a huge disappointment.

1 hour late phoned up half hour late to be told its out for delivery so waited another half hour outside . When got here food was lovely and very hot so don't believe it was out for delivery when I phoned and our poppadoms were all smashed up .

We have had the palak Makkai before because we both love spinach, my husband really enjoys this & it’s always been lovely creamy fresh spinach before, but today it was more like cooked frozen spinach and wasn’t very creamy or sweet like normal. Has your recipe changed? That said I think the Tandoori jhinga is my new favourite thing ever!

Order delivered on time. Food was amazing. All curries well made, butter chicken was a kids but the portion was the normal size. Naans were really good and rice cooked well

Been a few times now as it is so good. The owners are lovely and friendly, and the food is excellent. Looking forward to the summer when we can sit outside. Highly recommend.

GREAT QUALITY, GREAT TASTY FOOD. Today it was quite late arriving but it is usually right on time. The only thing that let it down was that for a main of chicken wings and chips you only get 4 wings with no option to buy just more wings.

Just Eat showed wait time of 35-45 mins for Safar. Ordered at 8.10pm, and then showed confirmedelivery due between 9.25-9.45pm! Order eventually arrived at 10.10pm, no apology from the driver, and the onion bhajis were cold and the chicken tikka masala’s were lukewarm at best. Such a shame because we normally have no issues but when I tried to call the restaurant 4 times to find out where our order was, it wouldn’t connect and just gave a message saying it was not possible to leave a message!!

The food was amazing,, just perfect the way I like it well worth the money only bad side is the portion of the chips £3 odd for a very small portion

We visited Safar for my friends 30th birthday at the weekend. They food was absolutely amazing, and the service was incredible. The staff went above and beyond to make the evening really special for my friend- thank you. I would highly recommend Safar.

My absolute favourite restaurant in the South West! I regularly get a takeaway meal from here and it is always piping hot and exactly what I ordered. The staff are so lovely and genuine, there is always a warm welcome. It’s a smaller restaurant which undoubtedly makes it feel much more homely, none of the overcrowding of bigger places, just a well thought out design along with an exceptional menu. I am always astounded how there is so much to choose from! I genuinely cannot fault Safar - they are absolutely 5-star brilliant!!!

Meat was really tough and had absolutely no flavour. The mixed grill was particularly bad but also the meat in the two curries was awful too and the sauces were watery. Very disappointing!

Very bland disappointingly over an hour delivery time expected and 15 minutes late on top of that. No poppadoms and the rice was cold.

Average food quality, not as good as Lal Qilla in Lyme Regis

I hadn’t had a takeaway from here for some time as I’m the only one in my house that likes Indian food. I have always loved Dansak from here. But for the first time I was disappointed. Usually I get a popadom and a yogurt side. Not this time. The Dansak was ok but not as good as usual. I won’t bother again.

Could not fault any of it. Had the set meal for 3 for 3 people. The amount that came would have been enough for 5. Definitely recommend if you want a curry takeaway.

I came across this little oasis today and I wish it was my local Indian restaurant! It’s a lovely little restaurant hidden away, with a nice seating area outside and a well presented restaurant for dining in. Very clean with a warm atmosphere. The owner and his family were very hospitable, welcoming and generous, I cannot rate them highly enough. Such nice people. The food was delicious and very tasty! Thanks again, it was lovely to meet you. I’ll be sure to come back:)

Not sure wether this was an app issue or human error. Was told by the app my food was with the driver at 815 ( expected delievery time stated 825-845) so was very happy with the response. 845 came and went . 910 i thought i should ring the restaurant to find out where my order was.The number on the Just eat app is out of date as it gives an automated message . I managed to contact the restaurant via fb messaging and eventually told they were very busy and my order was on its way . No apology was given . My ordered turned up at 945 , i placed it at 730. However the food was delicious albeit a bit cold .

Take away ordered online. Set meal for 3. Delivered faster than expected. It was a HUGE meal for 3. No way could we manage it all, so that's tomorrow's dinner sorted too. Very tasty food. Will definitely order again

This is going to be a bad review of our experience last evening. I would add that we have used Safar many times since they opened and we have not had a problem. However, last evening was different. We decided to have a take away delivered and chose Safar. Went online and made our choices. Decided to pay on delivery. The app told us delivery would be at 6.10pm. We waited in eager anticipation. At 6.15pm we received a text asking if we had received our order and if not to ring the telephone number on the message. This I did and was informed a delivery driver had called in sick. Apologised and said it could not be helped. However he had just left and we would receive our order by 6.50pm. At 7pm still no order. I rang again now very annoyed to be told unfortunately the driver was busy and to bear with them for a further 20-30mins. I said this was totally unacceptable and to cancel our order. We would not be ordering from them again. Our evening meal plans had been ruined and we were very disappointed. About an hour later I received a call from a manager apologising for the delay. Said we could have our meal for free and they would still deliver it. Time was now 8pm! I said we had already eaten and had beans on toast. He thought this very amusing. A total lack of understanding it seemed. He did add we could have a courtesy meal at another time. Not the point at all. Needless to say our business will now go to someone else. Obviously sickness cannot be helped but the way it was handled was beyond belief 😡

Absolutely lovely meal 👍 This place is a little hidden gem that I would definitely recommend and we can say was one of the best korma’s ever had and will definitely return.👍👍👍👍👍

It has been a few years since we have had Indian food from Safar. I was very impressed and the food was absolutely delicious, we were very hungry and there was plenty. The staff are delightful, friendly and always remember us. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant yo eat in or take away. 🙏 thank you

Excellent food, very tender meat. An interesting array of dishes, some of which we hadn't seen before and nice to see some of them available as a starter to allow you to test without committing to a whole meal. I very much recommend the tropical chicken; I have to find a similar recipe for the BBQ! Good delivery experience and will certainly order from them again when I am in the area.

Ordered butter chicken and lamb tikka, received chicken tikka and lamb tikka. Was a rather simple order, no complaints though as the chicken tikka was great, just a shame it wasn't what we ordered! Usually my go to curry place, will stay this way!

Lovely curry. Nice and spicy. Driver got lost as usual with my home but followed my instructions and got here really quickly.

Your first reaction coming here will be “holy *** I think I went down a wrong road” as it’s located in an industrial estate with car mechanics but the actual restaurant is clean, well decorated and you’ll be greeted by the owner who’s friendly as pie. The food was amazing, I would have liked a little more salt but each to their own, the flavours and herbs however… wow. You can tell there’s a pro in the kitchen. We ordered the rogan Josh, masala, bhuna, biryani - all highly recommended. Also it was super affordable and they didn’t even add service charge, so it’s optional (and fully deserved if you have cash!)

Slightly odd location in an industrial estate, but it's actually really nice inside. The food was very good as was the service, so absolutely nothing of any note to complain about. I'd certainly go there again.

Wonderful restaurant. My favourite in the area & always eat here when I visit. Choices wide & varied. Lots of veggie options. My veggie Korai tasty, hot/spicy with great flavours. Service excellent efficient but unobtrusive. Pricey but worth treating yourself.

2 basic curries, 1 pilau rice, 1 small side, 2 naan and 2 poppadums now just over £40 and now without the usual bottle of beer- if I’m paying over £1 for a poppadum I’d like it fresh and crispy and not shattered into 100 pieces really. Sauces were very watery, just not up to expectations this time.

We like the food, but the vegetable dopiaza is not good. It was consisted of onion and some potatoes. It would be nice to have fresh vegetables such as green beans or others.

A comfy Indian restaurant that has a very relaxed atmosphere and incredible food. Definitely worth the trip over to Axminster just for this restaurant.

Don’t usually post reviews but this was a joke. Hour and 40 minute delivery time and were late over then by an hour. Then forgot half my order and delivery driver was rude and threatened me, lady on the phone was nice and got all my money back though but I wouldn’t recommend at all! Food was cold

Very tasty food. Delivery was on time and very polite, despite it being awkward for the driver as we are staying in a holiday cottage that isn't obvious to find.

I quite often flitter between the Indians but safar lately has been bang on for delivery, the foods been really tasty and overall we've preferred it

Excellent food, friendly staff and superb charm

Great food, pleasant decor and staff, although we were ignored a couple of times due to staff being distracted by friends. There are plenty of vegetarian options, but vegan options are not listed, although requesting dishes without gee and eggs could be managed. It was as if there had been no consideration for this rising dietary choice. A local competitor has done better for Vegans. Nevertheless, Safar is definitely worth a return visit.

Ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala, received a Chicken Korma, every piece of chicken was chewy, not one piece edible, and the korma itself had no flavour whatsoever

Choose to order from this restaurant due to quick suggested delivery times. It took over 2 hours to arrive without a single apology when it finally came. The food was of decent quality but would not order again due to delivery times.

Very smart establishment with pleasant atmosphere, managed by the owner, who was very friendly. We reserved a table for 4 at short notice and were lucky to get the last table. The menu is impressive and there is a good choice of vegetarian and vegan options, but care should be taken to ensure that your order is understood, as we did experience a few errors in what arrived at the table, hence 4 stars.
