The best beer in Exmouth.Great service.Only downside was the loud foul mouthed bald headed guy that used the F word in every sentence which my Mrs didn't want to hear constantly. We've ran several pubs before and appreciate it is difficult to tackle. It didn't get any better when children sat with him. Will definitely be back though if not with the wife.Loved the Verdant beers.

Well this place is truly bonkers - more like a social club, complete with meat raffle on a Sunday afternoon - but we were tipped off about some elusive Verdant cans - the staff were super friendly but shocked anyone was spending £8 on a can of beer! (don't worry other drinks are much cheaper!)

Set just off the main town centre, the First and Last or "FnL" to locals is a great drinkers venue. One of the last handful of proper pubs in Exmouth, it is still a temple to the consumption of beer!. Some fine beers it sells, along with its very own "Checkstone Brewery" bitters, brewed "in house". These are always cracking ales and due to the vagaries of brewing small quantities, they often have slightly different "personalities" which adds to the flavour and character of the beer. They always sell some good ciders as well and as they are not in the market to rip people off, prices are fair and during "happy hour" even better. Live Music is often playing at the FnL, with some great local bands. Being a decent size, it can accommodate a fair crowd so is often buzzing, but early doors, it is a great place to just chill and have a chat. The staff must get a mention, as they are all lovely, they're dog friendly and knowledgeable about their beers, happy to have a chat, funny and sociable. Pubs like this are a dying breed, so it is nice we have a couple left in Exmouth.

We called for a drink Wednesday evening after a long drive. Friendly and helpful barman, and a truly lovely pint of Otter Bitter from the barrel. Unfortunately there were two football matches being screened simultaneously but although only 3 people were watching the Liverpool game the volume from the audio was way too much. We headed for the 'OAP' corner, but with the large number of speakers there was no escape even when the barman turned it down a bit without being asked. We tried conversation but gave up yelling at each other. Such a pity you can't have a quiet drink. Maybe there's a bar at the back for old farts but if so we missed it. Sadly our 'First and Last' visit will be just that. 😕

Came down to Exmouth for a wedding and asked Google for a good pub and this one came up, so came to have a look, very sport orientated but has one of the best Juke boxes I've ever seen AND 11 plays for £2:00, the staff are so friendly and accommodating, they turned up the speakers outside so we could listen to our songs, much appreciated, the beers were excellent and if you like pool there are two tables, apparently Sunday is an amazing day for live music, friendly locals (l sound like I've been paid to write this but I promise you I haven't) presently listening to the Beatles with a pint of Checkstone Bitter, fabulous.

We were staying in the area and after asking a taxi driver which was the best place for fish & chips, we were told here. On arrival (we drove there) the shop looks very modern, clean and like the pictures. There were a few people already waiting but we were quickly served, everyone seemed friendly and they appeared to have a good system in place! Considering the people before us and the selection we ordered, the wait wasn't too long. There were more people coming in and looked like collecting orders. The menu has a good variety & we went for a selection of bits to make up a meal. To feed a group of 3 with (I think!) 8 different options is was around £26 which isn't bad at all- they had a F&C meal offer which I think was about £10 also. The homemade onion rings were SO good! I'm guessing it would be a 5+ min drive to the beach from here, not sure walking distances as we were only in the area for a few days. We were happy and would go again if visiting again! Thank You :)

We stayed with the Sidmouth Harbour Hotel for the week of our wedding July 24 and could not recommend the team or the hotel more if you are planning and event or a weekend get away! Working with the Harbour Hotel team was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Charlotte the events coordinator was incredibly organised and kept us on track throughout the planning process. On the day of the wedding, everything went flawlessly thanks to Charlotte and her team. They managed all the details, allowing us to relax and enjoy our day. The view from the lawn was spectacular and exactly what we was looking for when choosing a venue, plus with access to the spa and top deck restaurant we knew we would be in for a treat for the week that we stayed with them. Sidmouth is a gorgeous and we can't wait to return! Overall, the Sidmouth Harbour Hotel provided a magical setting for our wedding. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful place to celebrate their special day. Thank you again to the team!
