Cross contamination butchers making sandwiches with out washing hands. Deli counter too close to raw meat hence 0 food health safety rating. Not good.

Bought “ prime steak pie “ today. Dished up to find the gravy and the meat were grey. The gravy had a gelatinous texture. There was only 40% meat with the rest being made up of flavourings, celery being one which has a very strong flavour. We dislike celery so that added to the disappointment. Why do you need to add such strong flavourings if the steak is “ prime “ the meat should speak for itself. At £5.50 this was an expensive addition to my food bin.

Brilliant range of meats and other items like pies, cheeses, ham etc... Always helpful and good quality of service. Fairly priced good offers throughout the year. Highly recommended!! , 🥩🍖🍗🥓🥚🧀 Covid19 they have been particularly great throughout covid-19 with their home delivery service and their continued serving the public with 2 in shop and sneeze screens up.. Absolutely fantastic can't fault them at all.

Just left your shop at 12.10 in Axminster. One older female worker said to the other "I wouldn't serve her while she's on the phone" What has it got to do with you. Why wouldn't you serve me? Do you have the authority to refuse custom? Also neither of them changed their gloves from handling food and money... Ew

Well organised and run butcher with enough shops to be economically productive and efficient. All the shops are similar offering well presented items served by usually friendly staff. Very good game when in season. Pheasants fiver a brace is very good. Good to see the names of farms up on the wall that supply some of the meats.

OMG so chuffed. I went into complete meats the other day & they have a range of free from fresh cakes! Wheat, Gluten, Dairy & Soya free. I was told they change every week. I had a chocolate éclair, Humming bird cupcake & a slice of Black Forest gateau! I know I am greedy, but I was so excited to have proper cakes not full of additives & extra fat & sugar. Just homemade free from cakes! They were amazing.

Came here for a sunday roast as a party of 4, not booked in advance and they accomodated us without batting an eyelid. Great service and absolutely incredible roast. One of the best pub roasts i've had the opportunity of eating. Pork, lamb, beef, gammon served moist with a lovely selection of veg, cauliflower cheese, a giant yorkshire pudding and lashings of gravy. Real "home cooked" vibe, this wasn't your typical deli sliced cold meats served with veg and gravy, you can tell this was cooked with care and everything was served piping hot. Top stuff, will definitely be coming here again.

It's been almost a year since I bought a ticket to the princess ball event and I am yet to receive my refund after it was cancelled. Every time I ask for this to be done I am given another date by which it will definitely be done and then that date passes. I am one of many who are still fighting to get a refund. I strongly advise NOT to book any events as these will be cancelled and you will not receive your money back.

Four of us made the mistake of booking Sunday lunch at The Redwing Inn. We understood that the Inn is under new ownership and still “transitioning” – in preparation for “relaunching” later in the year. So we were prepared for some disruption – but not for chaos. It started with the wine. No, we couldn’t see their wine list – they didn’t have one. But the waitress said she could tell us what they had. Only, she couldn’t. She went off to check and returned with a scrap of paper with a few wines listed she could read out to us. We picked one, but she had to go off again to check the price. Problems continued with the menu. The main course offerings were beef, turkey or pork – all with Sunday roast trimmings. But nothing else. No fish alternative and no vegetarian option. The waitress – one of the young, personable but clueless staff (not their fault they needed training) – explained that they would have had a vegetarian offering, but their supplier of it had let them down. But, they could substitute extra vegetables for the meat. Two of our party chose the beef. Two of us were slightly luckier in choosing turkey. Four plates arrived quite promptly – with everything piled onto them. No serving dishes to enable us to select what trimmings we wanted – just a plateful each of mushy cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, watery green beans, baked potatoes, a whole carrot, a parsnip, a Yorkshire pudding and a rock-solid ball of stuffing. Two plate-loads topped off with thick wedges of beef and two with equally thick slices of turkey. All swimming in the same flavoured gravy. The turkey was just about edible for a bird of its age – the beef was as tough as the sole of a hiking boot. The request for horseradish sauce resulted in a fruitless search through all their fridges and cupboards. They did, though, eventually manage to find the jar of cranberry sauce. Clearing the plates, the waitress was careful not to ask if everything had been okay – studiously ignoring the pile of hacked at beef left on two of them. With hindsight, our mistake was in not walking out when we saw the menu or, failing that, when the food arrived. Fortunately, we will never have to return to The Redwing. The reality is that the new owners had no business opening the restaurant before it was ready to offer a proper service. With that attitude of mind, they deserve to have no business.

Really nice find, a step up from other places around. Great food, cosy atmosphere and nice service. Had a fab beer garden too which would be great in nicer weather. Had the duck leg dish and the pork belly dish with a kids meal too. Duck was nicely cooked and the dauphinaise potatoes yummy. Pork belly again was fantastic. Wanted to try more! Would definitely recommend and would definately return if we were ever in the area again.
