I like the pub but at the same time I don't like the pub

Always trouble here. If you see a copper in Axminster, it's usually outside the Red Lion late at night.

Don't bother it's grim, still got the same lazy owners

Looks unpromising from the exterior Don't think thry do food. Went inside with England game on. Didn't have the beer i wanted but delivery issues at present explanation understandsble. But alternate was good. Immediately made welcome and regulars chatting and joining in with the footie chat. Has pool table one end. Few tweaks needed to give it a bit more atmosphere

A good pub, with very good prices

The hotel is cosy, breakfast is excellent, my kids love it. Staffs were very friendly. Stephanie was very good with the kids. She served us pleasantly. For the price that we paid, we got it all.

Didn't go in to this pub as there was a brawl outside!! Looked a bit rough. We continued down the road and found the Castle Inn which was much nicer. Welcoming landlord and landlady, who even asked a young guy not to smoke out front!!

Love it. Cheap and chirpy. Tara and Andy are fantastic. Can't wait for lockdown to finish so I can be reunited with my local & locals.

If there is anywhere you could potentially catch COVID then this is the place. Not only is it absolutely filthy but they are clearly breaking all the rules when it comes to the amount of people they allow together at one time. The pub is cheap yes but you get cheap service with a horrible mouthy landlady that laughs when her so called favourites are berating other customers. I would truly recommend avoiding this place at all cost especially if you do not want to feel ill the next day as the beers on tap taste nothing like they do in any others pubs and the spirits are quite clearly watered down.

Took the dog for a walk and stopped for a drink friendly and even watered the dog..a proper pub.

It's very cheap, for a reason. Every time I drink from the pumps, I have bad guts and a headache in the morning - not because I drank too much or had a bad kebab. I don't know if it's the near-off beer they buy or the lack of maintenance on the lines. The place is usually overrun by teens and there is often trouble. The smoking area out back is always littered. I haven't tried tried the food... Tara and Andy are friendly-enough but I think they have too much on their plates.

As good as it gets in Axminster

When we arrived we liked the look so to speak. Nice fireplace etc. However within quite literally 2 minutes of being there I saw a woman with red/purple hair who is the landlord from my understanding sneeze onto her hand, clearly wipe all of the body fluids onto a barmat then continue to serve onto it. Then while my husband went to get another drink about 20 minutes later an elderly gentlemen who was working behind the bar took a dirty used glass off of the end of the bar, tried to secretly rinse it under the tap with poor effort and refill it for my husband. They had a glass washer clearly in sight which we didn’t understand, it was pure laziness! If it had been busy maybe these things wouldn’t have happened but it’s no excuse, basic hygiene and service are expected wherever you go. Since this happening I’ve spoken to a couple local people who have seen and heard of similar things happening at this pub.

Okay night there, cheap beers, but a little funky tasting. Plus I've seen the clean down.... And I know for a fact those lines are rarely cleaned

Busy , friendly and serves late night

Terrible place to go. Beer for taps doesn't taste fresh. Tastes like the lines haven't been cleared for a while. They have a money pop behind the bar that they use when they take for certain drinks instead of the till. They have already had a fine for this but are still carrying on. Landlord has no manners and treats the staff like absolute rubbish. Place looks like its not been cleaned in years especially the loos. One of the most disgusting places I've been. Landlord knows there are drugs being taken in the loos yet acts like she doesn't care when a friend of mine confronted her about it. All she had to say was my pub my rules. Gross dirty place with rude arrogant undertrained staff.

Went for sunday lunch taking my 90 year old parents my wife , 2 daughters and my grandaughter . Roast beef or lamb with all the trimmings including cauliflour cheese carrots green beans swede etc . Followed by a selection of puddings and all for less than £10 a head !!! Yep, £10 a head and beer prices that would put Wetherspoons to shame . Could not recommend enough and with Tara serving at the bar and Andrew cavorting in his pinny ....where else do you wanna be !! Well done folks .

Locals pub. Cheap beer and bar food. Good jukebox and pool 🎱 Table. Sports TV.

Cheap cider, was there for staff Xmas party walkabout.

Had a disappointing visit last year but must have just been an off day, we all have those! Certainly judging by the trusted opinions of colleagues and friends. This visit one hundred per cent made up for the last. Excellent hardens to dine in, very relaxed with fantastic food to boot! A great choice of single malts for afterwards. It was my birthday and I shall return without doubt. Well done!

Of the 3 or 4 pubs in the area this is definitely the one I would choose

Great staff and great food, defiantly somewhere I would recommended their. Their Sunday roasts are amazing and their breakfast menu is to die for. Its served from 8am so no cheeky pint but you get an excellent and above value for your money breakfast

Yes a good drinker pub, now doing very good food. Cheep beer weekdays, only 20p more on weekends.
