You & Me Chinese Takeaway in East Devon

Beef Curry and chips, beef was 80% grissle could only chew, Chips had to be cooked a couple of time hard in the middle and coldish. 6/10 for curry taste only. Sweet & Sour Chicken, would have been ok if the chicken came with it. By the time driver got back after nearly a 14mile round trip with the missing chicken it was not the same sitting around the table. 7/10 for eventually getting to eat the lost chicken Chicken chow mein. Daughter thought good. 8/10. After being recommended this experience should have been a lot better.

Whilst staying at Putts Corner campsite this July my husband collected a takeaway. This unfortunately was the worst Chinese meal we have ever ate. Totally wishy woshy and had no taste what so ever. Definitely would not recommend

Thought I'd try for the first time as heard some good things but...... WOW!!! got to be the worst Chinese iv ever had!! Never again!!! Waste of money!!!

The food is good, however delivery times are well over 1hour which is what they say it'll be. Also they now charge 0.10 for the bag without asking if you want one, £6 for delivery + milage???? What's the delivery fee for then?? Never known a restaurant charging that much for a delivery. So they were going to charge us £7.48 for milage that would be almost £14 just to deliver! Not ordering ever again... Neither is anyone I know.. everyone is complaining about the same.. greed takes you nowhere...

Sweet and sour chicken balls, raw chicken inside

Food arrived by the time stated however it was cold, curry sauce was missing, the sweet and sour sauce was runny with no taste, nothing was labelled to seperate the vegatarian meal or spicy chips from the others so it was a guessing game. Quite a few of the dishes were tastless the only nice things were the chips and chicken balls. It was overall disappointing and I wouldn't use this company again.

Placed order and food was delivered 2hrs late, ended up having to heat it up ourselves. It wasn’t very nice food either. Also wasn’t given any change from the delivery driver, they just walked off with no apology. Won’t be ordering again

Never had a bad meal in over a year

Absolutely disgusting food. Chips tasted like they was yesterday's left overs. Sweet and sour chicken balls was truly in eatable. Never have I tasted something so disgusting. Wasted £25. Dog didn't even like it! 😕 don't bother wasting your money.

Not had a bad meal yet! Delivery to me is always 1hr 10min which is not great but the food makes up for that.

Don't bother, Simply put victim of their own success. Trying to take on too much has destroyed what was a great Chinese, food now delivered late (latest meal was over 1hr late) food delivered cold and inedible, quality has deteriorated. No apologies or any sort of customer service.

This place is usually absolutely great however the last visit there they gave me some very sub par food nothing inedible but just not up to there normal standard

Very disappointing customer service!!! I just bought a takeaway for £28.50. After placing my order I asked the lady behind the counter if I could have some complimentary prawn crackers. She sad no you have to spend £30. I was bemused as our order was so close, I said how about you just change me £30 then, she rudely picked up the phone while I was in conversation, now she was on the phone and not even listening to me. After she finally finished her phone call, she said no I’d have to buy them. I said ok, as they were for my daughter. Ok so now I’ve spent over £30 to increase my order I still didn’t get an additional bag of prawn crackers!! Obviously I don’t want two bags of prawn crackers… but that’s not the point! Had shed not been on the phone I might have ordered some chips or seaweed, to increase my order value. As for the food it wasn’t great and definitely wasn’t worth the money, Looks like “you and me” need to part ways, you’ve just lost a customer!

The delivery took over 2 hours, with no apologies or updates. Trying to contact them was impossible, as their phone line is always busy. Unacceptable.

Wow, just wow. We ordered a takeaway for delivery. Prompt delivery, however. The food was like somebody had chucked a whole lot of salt. Called, they picked back up and we got a refund. Never ever will we go there again. China Chef 100% has our business in Ottery

You and Me has been my go-to Chinese takeaway ever since moving to the area. Online ordering is very quick, easy and even lets you pay via card including the use of Apple or Google pay. I used to frequently order for home delivery but now prefer to order online and collect as it’s cheaper and the wait is not as long. Food quality and quantity is great, my particular favourite dish, which I am eating as I type this, is the Hong Kong sweet and sour chicken which tastes lovely paired with some egg fried rice.

We use this takeaway as it's reasonably priced, deliver, and over many occasions have only had one time where the food wasn't very warm.

I heard about this place on my local area Facebook group (cranbrook) It’s great they deliver and love the online ordering system. Then I read the reviews on here and was worried I’d be waiting over an hour for delivery as that’s what lots of the reviews say. however - It arrived just under 20 minutes after I ordered!! (Maybe because it’s a Monday rather than a Friday or Saturday) Ordered the meal for 1 and there’s plenty of food. Not the best Chinese food I’ve ever had but still really delicious and hits the spot!! Thanks !

Literally the worst Chinese delivery service in the history of deliveries. Placed order at 19.15 still nothing at 21.30. Made several phone calls to be constantly fobbed off ‘driver 10 mins away’ … Driver must have been coming from china because they never turned up. Requested money back to be told 5 - 10 working days. Absolute joke of a Chinese, avoid at all costs !!!!

This is a great takeaway place, the online ordering is so easy and helpful to track your order time. I usually order atleast once a month they have always been early for every delivery order, and the food is always delicious - 100% the best Chinese takeaway I've been to!

Such a shame, used to rate this place very highly! Always gave them good custom with regular orders and large orders when family where round to visit. However we won’t be going back here ever again due to an order we made on NYE. We had pre ordered online and delivery came early, great we thought until my wife bit into her chicken meal and it was raw, we called up to let them know and the lady on the other end of the phone was helpful however her colleagues not so much, they couldn’t care a less or offer to replace the meal and told us just write a review so here it is. I won’t be giving them my custom ever again.

Ordered twice for delivery, first time took THREE HOURS, when I called up to chase I had to squeeze an apology out of the person on the phone but the delivery person was very apologetic and apparently there was a staffing issue so I gave them the benefit of the doubt, even though there was no compensation offered. Really want to support local business in these difficult times! This week ordered again and waited over an hour and a half, even though website said 30-60 minutes. No notification of the delay, no apology and no compensation for a frankly appalling service. Either you offer delivery or you don't. Food tastes fine, but terrible customer service will always leave a bad taste.

We ordered at 5.15pm to be told it would be a 45minute to an hour wait. At 7.30pm after an hour and 15 minutes after our original time told to turn up it arrived! Food was cold and disgusting.

Had a dinner party and decided to order from these, we have ordered from these before and had small issues but nothing like this. We was missing 6 elements for are meal to which we paid delivery on delivery. We rang in to say we are missing alot sadly this went on deff ears and did not want to solve this situation. We accumulated the cost and infact we had paid for the full order. We did manage to share all the food around with are guests but it wasent the point. All we would have wanted was a quick solution to this issue. Miserable 2 star.

Twice I've order and twice the delivery has been poor. This time food was delivered until 1 1/2 hours after order and the food was wrong. I called up and waited 30 minutes to hear back, calling every few minutes but the line was engaged. Finally told they could deliver my food "later". Had to argue for a refund. Won't be ordering again.

Lovely food & easy to order over the phone. We use this place quite a lot and the chicken balls are the best I’ve had in this area. The only small downside is them wanting cash, we don’t carry cash so going to the cash point can be a bit of hassle. Other than that, it’s a fab place!

The food was all right and the price acceptable BUT the unfriendly receptionist, making you repeat your order a few times in English and she was british, is not making you feel welcomed! Then, you do NOT get a receipt! When I asked if I could have one, she replied: you do not get one with a rude tone. Surely, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, one has got the right to have an itemised bill if asked, right? How about if it is for a business meeting ot for someone else? PLUS, on their website, it shows you can pay by a few cards, then we you arrive at the shop...it is...cash only! Interesting. If it is cash only that should be cleary pointed out on their website. So, myself? Nope, I ain't coming back there apart if they solve those problems. My solid hotel/restaurant/trade experience and holsitic legal thinking are always at the front line when I give an opinion; it is always balanced and the truth...I hope they do get their commerce's hickups I pointed at resolved as it would be great for them.

Twice now we have ordered from this take away and twice they have got the order wrong. When you ring up and complain that they have messed up the order there only response is we will give you a discount on the next order. How about we never order from you again.

Ordered a takeaway from here and has got to be one of the worst places I've eaten from. Food was barly warm when it arrived and got me and the friends I was with horrible food poisoning. When I contacted the business explaining this they did not care and just said report us if you want. This place has 2* rating on food hygiene for a reason. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Food is nice and as expected but you really need to sort out your order times. I ordered for 7pm collection and was there at 7. I was stood waiting until 7:25 for my 7pm order!! I don't mind waiting five minutes because i can understand it gets busy but This happens nearly every time I order from here. Doesn't seem to be any communication going on its chaos. Think I'll be going elsewhere next time.

As a family we use them regularly and the service and standard of food provided is exceptional. I rarely write reviews but felt stung into action by some of the negative comments here! The portions are generous and the food is tasty. The king prawn roll starters are nice and I particularly like the duck curry. Whoever is behind the counter always makes the extra effort and it is a pleasure to go in.

That is a shame. Food seemed fresh still. The counter to gove orders was all right but the girl there had (again for the third time I did show up) had to make me repeat the order fourtimes and that was after I also gave the menu's numbers of the items. So, it is all right, but can so do better and hopr thy will. I have got

Ordered online at 5:13pm for collection at 6:20pm - 1hour should be more than enough time - surely!. Arrived at 6:15pm and said who I was. Waited and waited as many other customers came and went. One lady came in and at 6:25pm and ordered £45 worth, she came back after 20min as instructed and it was all ready for her. After waiting until 6:50pm decided to get a refund as it was clear that they have little organisation in the way orders are prepared - perhaps my fault was I paid online so they had the cash already!

Had a beef curry and fried rice, spring rolls a few weeks ago. Really good food and highly recommend it.

Lived in Ottery for a few months and I’ve found that this is my favourite takeaway in the town. The food is always lovely, there’s more than enough to satisfy, and it’s reasonably priced. I always ordered online and pick up in person and never had an issue with delays. Absolutely love the salt and chilli chicken and the Singapore noodles.

We visited here on holiday. They left out my rice despite asking them before we left if it was in the bag and them confirming it was. The food was tasty enough although the large chunks of hard onion pieces in the mushroom curry weren’t pleasant. I basically had curried mushroom soup as no rice and because i was not at home, none in the cupboard. My husband enjoyed his chow mein. I therefore think 3 stars is more than fair. I felt awful, as if i’d been cheated. A little attention to detail on therir part would have merited a higher score. I would not return if i was in the area,

I have never written a bad review, but the quality of this food was that bad, I have to share my experience to stop others making the same mistake and ordering from here. Had a lovely evening planned with family, ordered a mixture of dishes to try, none of which tasted like they should, the best dish was prawn crackers. The duck came pre shredded, never seen this before?? the batter on the chicken balls was like a donut, very odd…. Overall very disappointed, none of the dishes got finished by a group of hungry people which confirms how bad the food was.

Tried your fish and chips fish was dripping in oil and very salty all the way through and was completely inedible. Customer service was awful when rang to complain. Won't be ordering off you again.

Waited over 2:20 for our food to arrive. Rang twice, on the first call we were told it would be a maximum of 20 mins it was a further hour. On the second call we were offered a laughable 10% off our next order and waited a further 30mins before it arrived. Things can go wrong but communicate, rectify it and compensate in the appropriate manner and you keep your customers. We won’t be ordering again.

Best Chinese in Devon,we live in honiton and choose these and get delivery from these from Ottery as so nice. All there food, fried rice dishes ,chow mein, sweet and sour and bbq ribs always taste freshly made and delicious.customer service is always friendly.

We had a takeaway from here on our first night on Holiday in nearby Tipton St John. The food was ok but very salty, we also found it a little expensive but the staff were polite and the food was cooked fresh while we waited.

Would not go back here again. Used to go every couple of weeks until I began to get dissapointsd but the meals I was getting so left it a while and stopped for a while to go else where until I thought to try again. This time I went back we had long strands of hair in our food. I had the lemon chicken dish and the chicken was non existent. It was more batter than anything and could bearly find the chicken inside.
