A rare overnight in St Austell as a means of visiting the Eden Project early the next day. Arrived tired and late. What does one do in a cold St Austell late on a Sunday.... Well, take it from me, if you are hungry, the Watermargin ain't a bad option. We were quickly seated at a table for two near the window and it kept getting better. Staffed seemingly entirely by youngsters, they should be duly proud of themselves for their politeness and attentiveness. We had a super meal and were well looked after. Special congrats to Ellie - fantastic job. We had the crispy duck for starter and then shared a main - in this case the twice-roasted Char-Siu pork with fried rice. It was all delicious; just the ticket for two hungry travellers. Back for a couple of beers at the White Hart Hotel, we slept like babies (review for the White Hart done separately).

I get it’s a Spoons - and expect certain things which come with a Wetherspoon pub. This one however… it’s grim. The food was genuinely horrendous. I am chuffed I didn’t get poisoned off of it as it was clearly either burnt, or undercooked in the first instance, to only be re-heated at a later date. Unevenly heated food is a massive warning sign. The cleanliness of the pub left a lot to be desired, extremely sticky and outright smelly tables/booths. It’s worth mentioning that there was a group of men, sat right by the entrance who were all extremely inebriated, and again - I get it. It’s a pub. This though… constantly shouting and swearing, very loud and obnoxious. Staff could have politely had a word but nothing was said. Families were in the area having their breakfast and it’s just outright horrible to have to explain to a 3 year old why “that man is not able to walk and shouting at everyone” Service was poor. Forgot 3 items. Then took 10 mins to fetch the (now cold and stale) item from the “kitchen” AVOID

This was a great place for a casual solo meal whilst visiting the local area. Staff were lovely, made me feel welcome and were attentive and the food was excellent!

I don't consider myself an expert, but I've had my share of pasties over the years and I thought the one I tried from here was among the best I've had.

The lady who was taking phone orders this evening was very rude over the phone. Also, they’re in the wrong place on Google Maps. If you’re in St Austell, don’t go here because they’re in Bugle, but St Austell as it says on maps (which isn’t their fault)

Honestly I'm still fuming. We pre orderd at 6pm Friday. For 7.45... 9.15 it arrived cold. We had already eaten due to the fact we were starving. No apology nothing. I sent a message to cancel and they still rocked up 9.15pm. . If you can't make it then just be honest and say and we will make alternative arrangements. But to take our money and deliver it when it's convenient to you is not acceptable. It's all still in un opened

Where to start?! Terrible quality food , Hash browns were rock hard and cheap rubbish, sausages tasted like 2% pork, 10 potatoes on a large breakfast. Eggs tasted off 🤢 Waste of £16.20. My misses waffle was cold the guy said it was weird to order what she ordered. That put us off him straight away and both guys seemed miserable and definitely not welcoming. No wonder the place was empty. Sticky tables guys, when you're not busy that's the time to have a good clean up. Would never eat here again if they paid me.

We were visiting the area fancied Fish and Chips and weren’t disappointed. The young lady serving was so friendly and helpful .The fish was nice and really great chips! Well worth visiting this fish and chip shop. The gentleman cooking the food even gave us some interesting information about the history of the building opposite the restaurant.

What a confused mess is Eden's catering! Inside, where the proper cafe used to be, are now two 'outlets' - one doing a pizza-like offering (read 'disc of dough with green oil extra' cÂŁ10.00 and other odd items, the other is for wraps, sausage rolls, pasties. But, no. when you've waited in that queue for the proper pasty, you find that this is just a coffee and cake counter - and the pasties etc are at another counter, in the outside area. All three also do the hot drinks - so whatever your costly choice, you'll be waiting in a long queue while a couple of harassed staff cope with the designer coffees which seemed to take about 5mins each to make. In the last few years, everything at Eden has got a bit more shabby, rundown, undermanaged, and in a very sad way, a bit pointless (esp. anything NOT in the biomes). The biggest buzz visitors seem to get now comes from the high viewing platform, the zip wire, the music events - which leaves you wondering for the future of the poor plants...
