This is our second visit for Sunday roast and the second time we have been disappointed. The meat was over cooked, Yorkshire pudding was chewy the carrots and parsnips looked nothing like I would have expected, cauliflower cheese was unrecognisable. We shall not be returning, we run a holiday let very locally and we will not be recommending this establishment to any of our guests.

We had dinner here last week, we were staying in Pentewan and this pub is nearby. The staff were very helpful and friendly, very good service. The food was lovely, proper pub food, well cooked just how it should be. The beer garden outside was lovely and they seem to be making some improvements. The locals were very friendly and funny, though not intrusive, we had such a laugh and we really enjoyed our visit. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return next time we are in Cornwall.

My husband and myself went for lunch and we were greeted warmly by Sheena. We chose several dishes from the sharers/starters menu. We had salt and pepper fries, tempura prawns, garlic mushrooms and spicy chicken wings. Izaak cooked everything to perfection and we will definitely return. If you want a warm welcome and good food, then try the Sawles Arms

Home made chicken pie and mash, and gammon, eggs and chips all perfectly cooked and delicious. A couple of things missing from the menu were generously and amply made up for by extras. We'd heard good reviews due to new management and paid our first visit (we are 'locals'). Lovely welcome from the lady behind the bar. Enjoyed drinks in the sunny beer garden. I enjoyed the lasagne, my Hubs enjoyed a delicious pie & mash. We met the new managers as we left, lovely couple. We are planning to return for a Sunday roast, when they also have live music in the garden. Highly recommend!

Quite a strange boozer, closes at 7pm, I’m assuming the landlady doesn’t want to miss Corrie Sat listening to 2 locals sounded like Alan Partridge talking to Alan Partridge, channeling the Peter Purves anecdote, pure BS, local ale’s not bad, not overly friendly but they’ve been inundated with staycationers who by all accounts haven’t been the most polite visitors.

I've started a tour of Cornwall, having lived there for a few years thought I should see more than the usual day to day sites and scenes. This is how I found this pub. Tucked away a bit, I entered the old house turned pub to be greeted by obvious locals. Feeling a little uncomfortable I ordered a pint and was greeted with a smile. I sat on my own and listened to them chat and confirmed my suspicions that everyone there knew each other. I was happy enough to get another drink (it cost £7.30 for 2 pints) and took in the unique style of the place. It is worth a visit but don't expect to be greeted with a happy go lucky atmosphere.Being a well-traveled man I understand I'm the odd one out and I accept this. It's a nice little pub seating 30 at a push I would say. Worth a couple of drinks. Didn't eat but food looked great.

Made to feel like we were being a nuisance while ordering a roast dinner and a drinks , the lady who cooks he food is lovely absolutely no complaints there but the bar man gave of a horrible vibe and me and my friend felt uncomfortable going up to order another drink as it seemed as if we were being a nuisance. We are both Cornish and local but were made to feel like we weren't welcome. It's a shame because the food itself is good but we definitely won't be coming back, sort your attitude out!!!!

We were staying locally, and as responsible tourists we decided to walk to this pub for a drink. On arrival at 2055 on a Saturday night in August, we were astonished to find the venue in total darkness. We would have loved to have been able to properly review this establishment, but the owner didn’t give us the chance. This venue is apparently known for its “flexible hours” and if, and I stress IF the owner had bothered to put a sign on the door explaining the rationale for closing we might have felt a little more sympathetic, but when one goes to the only accessible pub nearby on a Saturday night you have an expectation of it being open.We understand there can be reasons why venues need to close in extremis, but customers have, I suggest, a reasonable expectation of communication. It’s all very well the owner offering explanations that they hadn’t had customers for some time, but strangely we are not mind readers thus when you arrive at a pub expecting it to be open and it’s closed without any explanation seems dismissive of customers and their needs.I bought my partner on a very special weekend culminating in lunch at Paul Ainsworth @No.6. This experience left the only bitter taste in our mouths, as you see by my reviews I visit a lot of venues ranging from local cafes to Michelin 3* restaurants. My expectation of each venue is based upon what the venue offers, this venue offered us absolutely nothing, apart from maybe contempt by not bothering to explain why it’s closed. It makes me very sad that this establishment thinks so little of potential customersShame

This pub is not a tourist pub but an old fashioned local pub. we had fish and Chips which was a good size but the fish was way over cooked. The sausage and mash came with over cooked carrots and the sausages were either poor quality or lost their flavour as they were over cooked. the mash was not very hot. The other food that came out looked better, so perhaps we were unlucky. The staff were friendly and if you want a local pub for a beer it is great but don't bother with the food.

This pub is a bit off the beaten track but well worth the effort. Four of went in for lunch having visited a local attraction. Three of us had the sausage baguette and I had the egg mayo baguette. The meat baguettes had large good quality sausages within and my egg mayo had home made mayo which is a first for me. Normally I get egg mayo that has come out of a container in the fridge but this was obviously home made. The menu is short and sweet but I would go back again for a full meal. Small pub but very well maintained and clean with a friendly host.

This lovely olde worlde village pub was recommended to our disabled group. A lovely welcome, our music man was permitted to play his guitar while we sang along. The food is amazing value, particularly the liver and bacon. The best bit? The staff, the landlady chef was heard singing along in the kitchen then was seen dancing in the bar and the lady behind the bar was so friendly (and so patient!) Can't miss out the mixed group of locals who were also friendly. The best days "work" I've had for a long while! Will be revisiting soon.

Oh my goodness!! This pub was recommended by the owner of our B & B and, as it was only a stroll away we gave it a go. To be fair the man behind the bar (who we assume was the landlord) was friendly and the meal was average - we had steak & ale pie & chips which was ok. The pub emptied by about 8.30 and there was just us, the landlord and one other customer who seemed like a local - so not really over whelmed by customers!! The TV was on with Emmerdale etc on, which was being watched by the lady who had served the food. All this was ok and we decided to return the next night although not for a meal. The TV was also on again with some quiz show, although no one seemed to be watching it - in fact there was only the landlord, the lady who does the food and one other person. My husband asked if the football could be on if no one minded. The lady said that it couldn't because she wanted to watch Emmerdale. She then promptly disappeared out of the pub leaving the TV on but no one watching it!! We could have understood if there had been a "no football" rule but, bearing in mind that there was only one other customer and he was deep in conversation with the landlord, it seemed a bit churlish, to say the least - not very good on customer satisfaction!! Needless to say, we finished our drinks and left - we would probably have doubled their entire night's takings if we had stayed - do they not want custom??Is it, quite literally only a "local pub for local people"!!!

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.
