The Rann Wartha - JD Wetherspoon in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We have been to this Wetherspoons a few times whilst visiting St Austell. It's in an attractive building and has good food and staff.

A wonderful Pub with excellent beer and great interiors to savour your pint,well worth the visit.

We used this Wetherspoons about five times during our recent weeks stay in St Austell. This included a couple of breakfasts and some evening meals. For us it was excellent. We thought the quality of the food, for the prices charged, was very good. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Service was prompt. Ordering, especially via the app, is a doddle. The toilets were clean. We look forward to visiting again when we return next year.

Staff was moody and miserable. Jacket potato was under cook . Mix grill was the worst. meat was tough it was like eating cardboard.we only waited 12 minutes then we was served our food . There is no way that mix grill would be cooked in 12 minutes absolutely disgusting will not be returning ask for rare steak when I complained about my dinner staff gave me a dirty look

The friendly team here have a real committment to cask ale - beers in excellent condition, meant we visited again and stayed for longer.

Staff are attentive, good for a laugh, nothing is too much trouble. Food is good, quick and tasty. Considering the volume of customers and variety of potential orders, both kitchen and bar staff are fantastic at keeping a well oiled machine moving, particularly when it becomes busy very quickly. Can't fault them, what a team!

Visited on 3 consecutive evenings (Sept 7-10th) 2020 during the covid pandemic. I can only review my experience, others may differ. A lively, friendly yet comfortable atmosphere. The food was always cooked to perfection and served very quickly. The staff really make this place shine, working their socks off to make you welcome and safe. They really deserve your business, so why not pay a visit, and I recommend Lushingtons beer for a lovely pint.. Mmmm

Apparently the food is ok. Quality ketchup on the table at least. Staff were somewhat miserable and unhelpful when asked to explain a drinks offer.

Didnt have any food or drink as my dog was not welcome .. and to make things worst not even aloud in the garden , they must lose plenty of money although i dont xpect they even care...🤬🤬

Food 1 star because we just couldn't even get service, Service 1 starr because well you need to provide a service to begin with. Atmosphere 1 star again can't really judge as next to impossible to find someone ... got 3 plus people clearing drinks and table and just avoid serving you lol ...

Breakfast has really gone down hill the last 3 time we have been in there . Today beans tasted funny and most of it was burnt before that found plastic in our food shame as was really good value for money Breakfast

I get it’s a Spoons - and expect certain things which come with a Wetherspoon pub. This one however… it’s grim. The food was genuinely horrendous. I am chuffed I didn’t get poisoned off of it as it was clearly either burnt, or undercooked in the first instance, to only be re-heated at a later date. Unevenly heated food is a massive warning sign. The cleanliness of the pub left a lot to be desired, extremely sticky and outright smelly tables/booths. It’s worth mentioning that there was a group of men, sat right by the entrance who were all extremely inebriated, and again - I get it. It’s a pub. This though… constantly shouting and swearing, very loud and obnoxious. Staff could have politely had a word but nothing was said. Families were in the area having their breakfast and it’s just outright horrible to have to explain to a 3 year old why “that man is not able to walk and shouting at everyone” Service was poor. Forgot 3 items. Then took 10 mins to fetch the (now cold and stale) item from the “kitchen” AVOID

Cheap food and it shows. Our veggie burger tasted good but looked appalling and you get more food at Macdonald's. Staff grumpy.

Nice ambience....... friendly staff. Everything easy to find and sort. The sign posting to find wasn't easy but worth it once found! Definitely returning....

Go in a couple times a month for lunch with the Wife. Its a Spoons.. simple. Definitely one of the better spoons.

Been here every time I visit Cornwall. Had a pizza last time it was fantastic. The base was excellent. Public parking at the rear think it was free after 6.

The atmosphere and food are what you expect from a spoons but the guys behind the bar and the other staff are great. Leanne was very nice and helpful and her quick wit livened our experience.

Great little place off the high street, good prices, friendly staff and decent atmosphere

Great way to order via website or at the bar. The food comes very quickly, even when it's busy. The prices are really moderate and the food tastes very tasty. Everything is clearly marked for allergy sufferers. Vegans and vegetarians also get their money's worth.

Same old weatherspoons but have to say the staff are fantastic, really friendly and helpful.

Classic Wetherspoons. Reasonably priced and clean.

Customer service fantastic and the food cooked perfect. (Well done to the chef on the morning of 1-10-24 at 10am) We really enjoyed the breakfast .

I couldn’t believe the fantastic value for money—a traditional breakfast for only £3.15! I’m not sure how they manage to do it. The establishment was clean, tidy, and well-maintained, with friendly staff who made me feel welcome. My breakfast arrived within a few minutes, piping hot and perfectly cooked. Highly recommended!

Excellent service and good food.

The worst dining experience ever. Fish cooked to death,peas cold and soggy chips. Cold tikka Marsalla and pitta bread so hard you could use it as a weapon. Come on wetherspoons wake up. Too many over inebriated clients its quite scary.

Went in somewhat dependent after being refused service elsewhere within minutes l got served realy friendly chap took my order food came in ten minutes hot tasty an even came an asked if all OK Made a bad night good again thankyou to the staff realy appreciated 👏

The staff are rude need to learn customer service, just because we didn't ask the manger to clean the table she got in a stroppy, they weren't even busy and we asked someone that wasn't doing anything then chucked us out

Tasty light battered cod, mushy peas and crispy chips. Friendly staff who came round to ask if everything was OK.

Really enjoyed a evening recently where a local brewery, Tintagel Brewery had 9 different beers to try. 9 very different beers that were all excellent & we could talk to the brewery & sample them all. All brews were excellent & the Manager took us on a tour of the cellar, which was impressive & very informative. The Manager has some great ideas in the pipeline & it would be wise to watch this space for different events.

Tasty pub grub at sensible price, friendly staff and swift service too. Just be mindful of where you sit as it gets very cold under the air-conditioning unit!

Currently sat in st Austell weatherspoons on table 23 the staff behind the bar are tude and have also now ruined my 21st birthday

It is one of the most expensive JDW pubs I have visited, costlier than many of the London Pubs!

Let's be honest, St Austell needs a bit of a think. Some locals asking us why are we going there?, we call it St.Awful. The Rann Wartha though is an excellent spoons. Clean, very good staff, nice garden, food was well cooked and presented, beer range superb including one of the best ales around, Sharps Sea Fury.

The Rann Wartha pub in St Austell has an incredibly friendly atmosphere, is clean and tidy, the staff are polite & attentive to your needs, plus the quality of their food is absolutely amazing! Its great value for money as is the cost of alcoholic drinks. It has two outdoor seating areas where you are able to smoke. If you are in Saint Austell and want top quality food at affordable prices then The Rann Wartha is the place for you!

Called here about 5.30 on a Wednesday evening. They had ran out of fish, placed alternative dishes they came without peas, they'd ran out. The gammon was as thin as bacon and tough..noone came to ask if everything was OK as we've experienced in other wetherspoons. Definitely won't be calling back here again.

We were amongst the fist people there to get breakfast. The eggs benadict was probably the best I've had from a weatherspoons and the sausages were decently cooked. Interesting building. Would defo return

As a visitor to the area with our two small dogs, we were made very unwelcome by the staff, although we sat outside and ordered using the app. There were no signs saying dogs not allowed in the outside seating area, and when our drinks arrived we were asked to leave ASAP. Very rude. Will not be returning here.

Probably best avoided! This is quite an expensive Wetherspoon in comparison with most others. Ordering from the App may mean you are charged more than the menu price for your food! Staff were unhelpful and not very friendly on my visit. The (overpriced) food was reasonable, but I would not return to this Wetherspoon again.

Good beer and a nice environment.

Just your average spoons, good grub for prices you pay. Had one American breakfast and one English breakfast. Fills you up and is cheap. Staff were nice, areas were kept clean and tidy.

Visited in April with my daughter and grandchildren. The staff were very helpful considering there were 3 adults and 10 children. The food was typical of Wetherspoons. Great for a bite to eat and a drink 🍸

It's great for alcohol, cheaper than most places but the food isn't up to much. Staff are lovely and can't fault the service

Great typical English pub. You order at the counter and pay directly. The meals include a drink and cost between 10 and 15 pounds. The portions are not very large, but they are enough for us and very tasty. Very well attended, mostly by locals. We were guests in the restaurant two evenings in a row. For parking, the public car park on Priory Road is recommended, from there it is a 100m walk. 👍👍👍

Nothing to say its wetherspoon.....

Another visit to a Cornish Wetherspoons and always find it interesting to find out the history of the building. Good kids options which is a reason we ate here and were happy with our food. Where we sat was light and airy, and we were near an open fire which was appreciated on such a cold and wet day

Not the best Wetherspoons, breakfast was ok, toast was warm bread, not toasted at all.

Not sure Kim should work here considering she is so rude to customers, she was a bit short with our table but we brushed it off as it was extremely busy pre-bank holiday, however she then completely ruined the atmosphere of the surrounding tables after being rude to the people sat there for absolutely no reason. Maybe don't work in customer service if you don't want to serve people

Always eat here as a group before the cinema. Good food, busy, but excellent service and good value for money....

Clean, welcoming and warm as per any Wetherspoons!

We really liked this Spoons. Large, open pub with a log fire & relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of seating available. Not sure if it has more than one access. We had to climb a dozen or so stairs which will be an issue for the elderly or disabled.
